They closed earlier than their times listed online and at the restaurant. It is very small, so I walked in and there was only one table with one large group dining. They seemed to be enjoying their meal, but the staff immediately told me they would not serve me. I asked if I could order takeaway, and they denied me again. I was hungry and had walked far to dine at this restaurant, so it was a very disappointing experience. I gave this restaurant three stars instead of one because I don't like to give one star to small businesses.

A small cafe but probably some of the best Ethiopian food we've had in the NL. Everything we ordered was delicious and freshly made - chicken dishes were amazing and the lamb too with small side dishes. We couldn't stop eating! The owners were very kind and warm. Will definitely be back again.

Tonight, February 8, 2025, I was here for the first time. It's a very small restaurant, with three tables and a very friendly owner. They gave us a clear explanation of how to eat Ethiopian food. Not with cutlery, but with your hands. The table next to us got their food first, so we could watch them. Afterward, we could practice with the exquisite dishes. Four bowls of food that you could pick up with a piece of pancake. It was super fun, especially when everything tasted so good. The way the food was served was also unique. Both owners clearly enjoyed the well-deserved compliments from their customers. This restaurant is highly recommended. Be sure to call ahead, as three tables fill up quickly.

You can get delicious vegan food here. Also take home, handy for people with a dog like us. Friendly people.

This place was recommended to me during a party. I had never had Ethiopian food before and wasn't sure what to expect, but it still exceeded my expectations. The food is not only delicious, but the atmosphere and hospitality with which you are received and served are fantastic. Not a massive restaurant but all love.

Poor! We booked via google maps and got a confirmation. After driving to Haarlem and arriving on time, the owner said that google is stupid and that he is overbooked. He didn't even suggest another option or something else around. I cannot judge the food because i didn't get to taste it. But weird owner

I will come back regularly. Yesterday with a friend of mine we decided to try for the first time to try this place. They were so welcoming and explain briefly to us the menu and the ethiopian cuisine. The food was amazing, very tasty, flavourful and simple like a love it (as italian native) You guys will see me back soon, thanks for the experience.

Our first time trying Ethiopian food which was a pleasant surprise. The lovely owners took time to give recommendations & explainthe menu in detail. The food was flavourful & they offer a variety of vegetarian options aswell. (Green lentil salad was to die for! ) Love homey atmosphere here, We will be back!

I absolutely love Ethiopian food and was so glad to discover this little gem in Haarlem. On this occasion I only had a chance to sample the roll filled with spicy stew and lentils. Sooooo amazing! The owners are so incredibly charming and kind. If you are in Haarlem or live in the city I'd urge you to try and sample the food. I can't wait to return for a full dinner. NOTE: Cash only please

What a hidden gem, the place is very authentic, the food is tasty and A LOT and the service is super friendly. We found it by accident but it was worth visiting.

Piepklein restaurant met heerlijk eten, ook vegetarisch. De eigenaresse vertelde dat de kruiden bij haar familie uit Ethiopië komen. Lekkere smaken en eten met je handen! Bijzondere ervaring. Jammer dat 't Ethiopisch bier op was! De Ethiopische thee was gemaakt van oa. kruidnagel en kardemom. Leuke avond gehad.... We komen nog eens terug.

We are vegetarian and this place is a paradise. Slightly out of the way but really worth finding, we had a brilliant welcome from the owners and the food is home cooked fresh in front of you and is absolutely delicious, different and reasonably priced.

Als je op zoek bent naar de authentieke smaak van de Ethiopische keuken, ga dan hierheen. Twijfel niet en ga er eens langs. Reserveren is aanbevolen omdat er slechts drie tafels binnen zijn, maar dat zorgt ook voor een gezellige huiselijke sfeer. Het eten is geweldig. Aanrader.

Leuke en gezellige tent. Kleinschalig. Het eten en de bediening is uitstekend! Voedsel is heerlijk op smaak en ruim voldoende per persoon. Qua prijs/kwaliteit echt uitmuntend.

I live part of the time in Philadelphia and part in Haarlem. I’ve had a lot of Ethiopian food in America, where you can find good food of any ethnicity. My family and I agree this was the best Ethiopian food we have ever had. We will be returning here. Seating is limited due to corona virus restrictions, so I recommend making reservations.
