What a wonderful experience this was. Every single dish looked fantastic and tasted absolutely great. The sushi on the wooden board was especially highly recommended. It was nice to enjoy it with a good cold glass of Brand beer. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very pleasant, and I will definitely be back soon. Highly recommended for everyone in Oosterhout.

Please do not order takeout here. Paid 40 euros for two people, while one of them wasn't even full. Scandalously small pieces of sushi (measured, not even 2 cm). It is not normal how little you get, rip-offs. Last time visiting, you just get ripped off.

Dropped back into Asuka after a long time. The sushi remains really delicious. And last time, as far as I know, there were no sittings. (or we were just early) The staff were also very friendly and helpful.

The sushi at Asuka is delicious and tastes freshly made. However, the choice of disposable chopsticks and an old tablet ordering system (and a tablet full of cracks) is a shame. It really does affect the atmosphere. The staff is nice and friendly. All in all, we had a good meal.

Even though all the tables were occupied, we were served very well; very nice people, good service, delicious food. Top-notch! We will be coming here more often.

The food is amazing! I've been coming for years and always look forward to visiting Asuka. A small suggestion: a "bandit's plate" for kids would be great so they can try different things. Not every child eats sushi. Another thing I don't like is when a larger group orders the same thing three times and it all comes on one plate. Otherwise, everything is top-notch as always.

All-you-can-eat sushi: unlimited ordering of up to 5 small dishes every 10 minutes for 2 hours. The staff is friendly, and the food is served quickly. However, it is not very good... lots of rice, little fish, not super fresh, and strange sauces that don't go with it. The price is high for what you get; for two people, we spent over 100 euros, and we both had two soft drinks. Certainly not a bad restaurant, but from now on, we will go back to our 'own' sushi place.

We ate here tonight, and unfortunately, it was without a doubt one of the worst sushi experiences we've ever had. Let me start with the positive: the staff was friendly and clearly trying their best. Our server was kind, attentive, and despite everything, remained polite and courteous. One small note: she couldn't quite pronounce the "R," which sometimes led to slightly comical moments when taking our order. That was honestly the most entertaining part of the evening. Now for the food. The chicken balls turned out to be raw on the inside. Not "a little glassy," but actually raw. This isn't a matter of taste, but simply dangerous. When you serve meat—especially chicken—it should be fully cooked. This shouldn't happen in any professional kitchen. The sushi itself was disappointing and definitely not fresh. The rice was sticky in the wrong way: not fluffy and subtle, but dense and heavy. The fish lacked freshness and didn't have that soft, melting texture you expect. Some pieces tasted as if they had been prepared for a long time and weren't made to order. Sushi is all about freshness, precision, and balance, and that was completely lacking here. The chicken in chili sauce was tough and dry. Instead of juicy pieces with a slightly crispy edge, we got fibrous chunks that were difficult to chew. The sauce couldn't mask that; in fact, the whole thing felt like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while. The fried banana was perhaps the most disappointing dessert I've had in a long time. Instead of being warm, crispy, and soft on the inside, the batter was thick and soggy, while the banana itself felt tough and almost rubbery. It felt more like reheated leftovers than a freshly prepared dessert. What makes it even more disappointing is that the basics do seem to be there: friendly staff, a great location, and a menu that, in theory, promises a lot. But when the execution is so subpar—raw chicken, not-fresh sushi, tough dishes—then something is fundamentally wrong in the kitchen. We're certainly not quick to criticize and understand that things can go wrong sometimes. But this wasn't an isolated incident; it felt like a pattern of low quality and a lack of control in the kitchen. In short: the staff was friendly, but the food was truly subpar. For a sushi restaurant, freshness is paramount. If that's lacking, there's little left. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. Next time, we'll go to Aldi.

Good concept with the tablet, as you often see at all-you-can-eat sushi and related establishments. You can order 5 dishes per person every 10 minutes. That is a lot, and they are brought out super fast. So why only 4 stars? The upholstery on the chairs is worn; rags are hanging off. Table space is limited. It fits, but I felt like I was sitting too close to other guests. There are many extras you have to pay for, such as more sauce and whipped cream. Then there is the point about the food itself. There is a lot of choice, but there wasn't a single dish that set them apart. So, I couldn't think of a reason to go here again. The market for good sushi restaurants is simply too large these days.

It's been a long time since I ate this well! Hopefully, this chef stays on.

On Sunday. Very busy, too few tables. The first course took too long, and then a lot of food arrived at once. Unfortunately, three of the four people got sick the next day.

On my way home, I tried to order sushi, but the pickup option wasn't working on the website. So I stopped by. At 9:36 PM, I tried to order at the counter, but they said the restaurant was closed. There were still people eating. Too bad, because Google Maps also showed 10:00 PM.

For years, this was one of my favorite restaurants. Unfortunately, after the takeover, the service deteriorated dramatically. Upon arrival, we were (literally) shown to a table; no one came with us. A tablet was simply thrown on the table. Our orders always arrived very quickly, which is nice, but the staff was extremely rushed, didn't make eye contact, and one of them was sweaty and smelly. I could hear the people next to us talking about it too. The sushi was still as delicious as ever, but because of the poor service, we won't be going there again. We might only order takeout.

Price quality ratio is far to seek unfortunately. Food was way too salty. With every order you are also reminded that if you do not eat it, it will be charged extra! So we have eaten the much too salty dishes with reluctance. Really waste of money.

Stamp card completed at the time by spending quite a bit at Asuka. No expiry date on the card but was rejected because it was said to be too old. Asuka is not fully aware of the laws and regulations of loyalty programs. Lousy.

Always delicious sushi, friendly service, nice decor. There are also some safe dishes for children, so you can also eat there with children. My favorite sushi is the chicken and ebi roll, the shrimp roll with tuna on top and my all time favorite is the flambéed salmon Philadelphia roll.

Ate here yesterday. The food was tasty but the service left something to be desired. Upon arrival, the table is designated from behind the counter. The system of the tablet was not explained. Someone at the service smelled quite a bit of sweat, which was clearly noticed by more guests. At checkout you will be asked if everything is to your satisfaction. But I think that's routine. As soon as you want to indicate that not everything is to your liking, they do not listen. For the takeaway service, Asuka is fine.

2017: Beautiful place with good food. Staff are quite busy. They often drop things and are in a bit of a hurry. Delicious food and great atmosphere. 2025: this restaurant has improved compared to my previous review. Operation is relaxed yet smooth. The decor is much more modern with a nice atmosphere. We had a delicious meal yesterday, but take into account the extra charges for a number of dishes that will simply increase your final bill. It was my eldest son's birthday and he got his food for free, which was a nice stroke of luck. We did not receive a number of dishes we ordered, but we did receive something we had not ordered. (Table number may have been mixed up). Understandable, because it was busy. Unfortunately, when leaving the restaurant, a few of those gym kids, about 20 years old, who I saw inside earlier, were smoking outside on their terrace and were making comments about my jacket. I didn't respond because I don't want to have "child abuse" in my name. The restaurant can't do anything about it, of course, but it did create a negative atmosphere for us for the rest of the evening.

Helaas asuka is overgenomen en daardoor is het een stuk minder. Zeer lang wachten op het eten waardoor je binnen de 2 uur maar 2 a3 rondes kunt bestellen. Tegenwoordig ook bestellen via qr code die slecht werkt. Reageren niet op klachten.

New owners and unfortunately not positive. Been a few times now and was only able to order 2-3 rounds of food within the time limit. Then it is really very expensive. Initially communicated to them via an email address, but no response. It was our favorite sushi restaurant, but will it stay that way for longer?...

Delicious food, friendly staff and nice atmosphere. We had a table by the window overlooking the square which made it extra cozy. The options are huge and you won't be without food or drinks for a moment. The birthday boy or girl did not have to calculate in a group of 4. Normally the amount per person would be between 40 and 50 euros, which is well worth it.

Haven't been in a while, tried again now. Was a bit concerned given some poor reactions after the new owner. Yes, you sit a bit more on top of each other, tables are too small to fit everything, but the food was good, came quickly, the staff was neat, although sometimes it was quickly put on the table, I think it has become expensive, but yes, what? not. Yoshimi in Raamsdonksveer would be my preference

What used to be a nice and tasty sushi restaurant, where the owner even knew what you liked to drink, has been ruined as far as we are concerned. The new owner is investing in extra tables so that you literally sit on each other's laps. The service is slow and the staff literally get in each other's way and look disorganized. As far as we're concerned, we're removing Asuka from our options list to get away from it all. If the new owner reads reviews, take advantage of them and adapt them positively. If the previous owner reads this... We think it is a shame that what you have built up has been taken over in this way. We wish you all the best.

Apparently it recently changed owners. Unfortunately, the quality was a lot less than I was used to. For example, the sushi rice tasted different and you had to wait longer for the food. The atmosphere wasn't good either. The music was way too loud and overpowering. Too bad, I always really enjoyed the sushi before.

It is really difficult, we were 4 people, if you order the same thing and throw it on a plate so you don't know which belongs to whom. I have always had nothing because it was on someone else's plate, so no more.

At the table you can opt for chopsticks or standard cutlery, chopsticks are an advantage for almost all dishes. The order is placed via a kind of iPad, on this tablet you choose your 5 dishes and after shipment, cold dishes are often served quickly. This place does not have a separate salad bar or desert corner. You order everything via the tablet. Waste is not appreciated and fixed amounts are charged extra for this. The iPad is very easy to use and you can see exactly what you ordered and when. One downside: if someone reports that it is their birthday and it is checked, you can also congratulate this person...

Goh wat een tegenvaller joh. Wij halen af en toe sushi op om thuis te eten ( ze bezorgen niet) en dat is altijd fantastisch. Maar wat een verschil met als je ter plaatse eet. Amper een woord van de bediening, miniatuur versies van sushi , inktvis spies , ijs alles is miniatuur. Het eten wordt zonder een woord op je tafel gekwakt , als je nog aan t eten bent uit een schaaltje wordt deze alweer weggehaald . Echt nooit meer

Excellent sushi. Toilets also neat. The orders were served really quickly, well within 10 minutes. Drinks are quite expensive. It's also a shame that you can only choose 1 dessert (1 scoop of ice cream) and then have to pay 1 euro extra per dessert. Also pay extra for mayonnaise. They use 2 shifts (from 1700 to 19:15) and beyond. You don't often see that at other sushi places, but it is more than enough time to have a good meal.

Meat and fish dishes are good. Sushi could be better. Tried once and that's it.

I had a nice time there with my friend, but that was mainly because of ourselves. What a cold business purpose it is there. If you like a lot for little and fast then this is the place for you. This place is not recommended for those who enjoy a nice evening of dining. The service is rushed and doesn't look at you. The task is to get everything on the table as quickly as possible, which I expect some people will appreciate. The personal contact is also reduced because everything can be ordered on an iPad. I'm personally not suited for this. It was busy there, so fortunately there is demand for this formula. Unfortunately it's not for me. Asuka thanks but I'll look further

Grim lady running the place! She was probably on her period or something... Calling customers a liar and then walking away in an elitist manner after she has pulled the tablet out of your hands. There was also clearly someone in the kitchen smoking a joint because the smell of weed in the restaurant was unbearable. Worst experience ever!

Definitely not worth it, everything goes wrong and mixed up in the kitchen. We ordered ice cream for dessert and got fries after our ice cream??? If you want to report something, no one speaks Dutch. Price is ridiculous. To top it all off, there were large black hairs in 4 dishes

Friendly service, only if you have a complaint then suddenly no one speaks Dutch and there is certainly no question of giving your money back. Food is good if you get it too. Shame about that mentality.

Food is fine but the older staff are horrible. Something went wrong with the order in the kitchen, there were suddenly more than 100 snacks on the table in round 2. The girl who helped us handled it nicely with us, we received an apology and agreed that we ate everything we could, it wasn't necessary. did not return from us to the kitchen because there was a diversity of choices so we left it that way and agreed that no extra costs would be charged for what was left. We didn't get around to dessert because the owner came to us and saw 2 plates with about 12 snacks left, she yelled at us saying we have to pay. I said well, we have already discussed this with another girl, and this has already been arranged because something went wrong in the kitchen. That woman gets that girl and starts ranting at her saying that she was not allowed to agree on that, well to make a long story short, a lot of shouting at us, 4 other employees also came and shouted at our table, well really we thought for a moment we are being fooled, where is the camera. Very embarrassing, felt really intimidated. We left, because this was unacceptable, a lady at a table a little further away asks if we would like to come her way, the lady says, they often have these kinds of arguments here in this tent, food is good, but about the service one cannot speak. Another minus in round 1 everything was put on the table without explanation. But to be fair, the food was good. Yet this was the 1st and last time we came here.
