I personally prefer Enschede to Germany.

The way they work is unhygienic, the staff are unfriendly, and the food is very plain and tasteless. Strongly not recommended!!

Nice place, but the service is less than ideal. A very arrogant tall lady with red/orange hair at the cash register. A real shame, it really ruins the atmosphere.

I lost my cash. I went back and asked if they had found any money. The lady took my money out of the drawer and said we found it and kept it. I got my money back properly. There are still honest people in this world. Thank you so much, ma'am 🙏🏻

The cashier started helping the people after me while I still had to start paying with my card. Quite rude. It wasn't as if it was very busy, either. They were the only ones after me.

We often have lunch in the center of Enschede while shopping. We have walked past BackWerk quite frequently lately, including a few weeks ago. From the outside, the place looks busy and inviting. Upon entering, the concept of this restaurant is immediately apparent. During our meal, it turned out that the salmon bagel, among other things, was not the salmon bagel shown in the photo displayed prominently on a screen inside the shop. With our bagel, salmon had swum right past it. And the bagel was downright dry. Customers are expected to clear their own serving trays after finishing their meal and stack them at the clearing desk. Because we were sitting in the direction of this clearing desk, we also saw what happened next. And that was too disgusting for words. The staff members on duty at the time were likely each handed a yellow, damp dishcloth at the start of their shift. With this, all used serving trays were 'cleaned,' without the cloth being rinsed out even once. Next, the dirty tables were wiped down with the same cloth, after which they cheerfully continued cleaning the stack of cleared serving platters. The toilet also looked scandalous and very unhygienic. This while the staff sat around doing nothing at their leisure in the back part of the restaurant. For us, a one-time, very negative experience!! Franziser, do something about your business and staff!

Today I enjoyed a delicious soup and a well-filled sandwich. Everything tasted fresh and was perfectly prepared. The espresso was also delicious. The size of the cup might seem small, but the amount was measured just right. The staff was friendly and helpful, which made the experience even more enjoyable. As always, everything was perfect. Highly recommended!

Never again, except for the fact that when I was getting a sandwich, the lady's hair was between the buns. I asked for a healthy sandwich without ham at the cash register. It was made, but I've never had a sandwich as bad as this one. When I pointed out and asked for a bit more egg, I was told it wasn't possible. The sandwiches are made according to the rules. So, two eggs, two cucumbers, and two tomato slices. The cheese was a bit harder. Terrible, terrible service.

Nicely decorated, but that's not what I'm here for. The staff isn't very friendly. The coffee is absolutely awful. Espresso, not even a single sip, just a sliver in your cup... "Yeah, that's normal," was the response from a grumpy woman behind the counter. Sandwiches... no, I don't want them there anymore. Soggy, limp, and with wilted vegetables on them. Conclusion: Never again.

A very good selection of fresh snacks and even soups. Both vegetarians and meat lovers had plenty to choose from; the salmon bagels were also great. We especially liked the smoothie stand beforehand, where they simply sell fish smoothies made with fresh fruit right in front of you. At €0.30-€3.50, the price was fair for such products. Some of the other prices were quite high for self-service, but unfortunately, that's unavoidable everywhere. The coffee was nice and strong; I recommend it! The place was clean and well-organized. Unfortunately, it was quite noisy at times due to the crowds and the juice station's blender. So, not really suitable for a truly relaxing break.

When u visit Enschede u have to come here and to eat everything, is the best place in the centrum in Enschede, I really I like this place and the people also the team people are pretty friendly and always smailing. I putted 5 stars for everything because them deserve. Thanks a Lot!

Good coffee and tasty fresh sandwiches

Never again! Normally, the food here is excellent. This time I went for a chicken and bean sprout sandwich. I was skeptical about how it looked or if it was any good. But this sandwich gave me food poisoning🥹 I've been sick for a week.

It's a great place to have lunch in Enschede city centre. I can't say much about the service because it's practically self-service. You get your items yourself and take it to the counter to pay for it. When you finish eating, you have to pack up yourself The interaction with the workers is probably only at the point of payment, or if you need to ask a question. The atmosphere is calm and comfortable. The food is a bit pricy though but surely something most people can afford 😄

Tasty fresh sandwiches for a good price, often busy. Tip: get drinks at Kruidvat (super close!) and bring it here, it's a bit cheaper than if you get it directly from Backwerk.

Very nice concept. If you are in Enschede you simply have to go here. If we come across a Backwerk elsewhere, we have to go there too 😂

For me it cannot be compared with an artisan bakery.

I think the music and the kitchen noise are a bit too loud, but the sandwiches are very tasty.

Came for a sandwich in the afternoon, it had a reasonable taste but was very dry. Staff weren't really chatty or friendly.

You cannot quietly drink a cup of coffee here and eat sandwiches, there is too much noise from the machines where they make a drink.

Everything is always fresh and tastefully displayed, and the service is top notch!!

Normally very satisfied with Backwerk. I had a great BBQ chicken sandwich. My wife bagel salmon. When we took the top off the sandwich we saw what you see in the photo. If you see the photo of the same bagel on the wall at the same time, you get sad. Usually I say something about it, but the queue stretched outside the store, so I left it that way. 1 star salmon, 5 star BBQ chicken. So on average 3.

Always gave 5 stars. But the last 3 times the right soup was not available for me. Please don't go too far with vegan!!!

Tasty sandwiches for a good price. In addition, the smoothies are tasty. We did have to ask if the sandwiches could be warmed up, while this is normally requested as standard in other branches. BackWerk cannot be compared to quietly and relaxed eating a sandwich like in a restaurant, but for a quick bite it is fine and the quality is good!

Hot rolls are freshly prepared and delicious, but delivery to the table was less friendly. Maintain the customer is king idea.

We waren er al een paar keer geweest voordat de zaak werd uitgebreid. Maar een paar dagen geleden kwamen we binnen, en zagen we dat de ruimte verdubbeld was. De inrichting van de zaak was ruimtelijk en fris opgezet. We namen een beker koffie, een vers geperst sapje, een bagel met zalm, en een broodje kaas. Alles wordt voor je ogen vers bereid. De medewerkers en de eigenaren werken heel goed samen, en zijn heel attent naar de gasten toe. Het is gewoon heel prettig om hier de lunch te gebruiken. En dat de kwaliteit top is, was duidelijk te zien aan het grote aantal bezoekers. Een echte aanrader voor iemand die op zoek is naar een zaak als deze!

I have sandwiches here from time to time and they are very good! Employees are nice and the place is clean! They recently made the space larger, which I find very nice. The coffee is a bit strong for my taste but besides that I would recomend for a lunch if you are wondering what to eat.

After the renovation it got a lot better and you can eat without feeling like a sardine. The food is good but it’s a pity they only heat up certain breads and not the one that’s not pre sorted to warm. The sandwich of YOUR CHOICE might be just the one you personally like to eat warm. I’m thinking what’s the big deal in heating up my sandwich if I like it heated instead of cold. I would love to hear a reaction from the bakery about why they don’t heat the sandwich the customer likes warm. The single chairs are quite low and uncomfortable, the benches and fabric seats again are very pleasant.

Great little bakery shop with a good selection and friendly staff! You can also sit here, even if there aren't many seats.

A great place for a sandwich to take away or to sit down for a while. Sandwiches and smoothies are always freshly made. Good price-quality ratio. Update April 13, 2024: Bought 2 sandwiches today, chiabatta cheese and a chiabatta tomato brie. Both sandwiches were 4.50 p.s. While the price-quality ratio was still good 2 years ago, it is currently a crying shame. My dining companion's sandwich contains 2 slices of leathery cheese, with half a leaf of lettuce. My sandwich contains a little bit of content, but for 4.50 you can expect this. The smoothies are okay and are regularly made fresh.

Tasty. A good place to have a meal on a budget. Large selection of sandwiches for every taste. There are cold and hot ones. Delicious smoothies, today we tried a very tasty “stick” with custard! I recommend it to everyone!

The sandwiches are always delicious, I love the omelet bagel, the custard puffs came out and they won my heart! Not enough space to comfortably eat.

Surprisingly delicious! It’s located a bit hidden in a mall downtown in Enschede. Nevertheless, the food served is really fresh (self service) and the smoothies are top of the bill as well!

In het winkelcentrum Klandewrij verborgen zit Backwerk. Een Duitse keten. Ze hebben er lekkere broodjes (wel veel typisch duits belegde) Smaak is goed , prima prijs. Geen terras helaas!

BackWERK zit sinds kort in de Klanderij in het centrum van Enschede. Ze hebben echt heel veel keuze in smoothies en ook in twee maten (€2 of €3). Broodjes ofwel zoet danwel hartig. De topper is een kaiserbroodje met eiersalade voor slechts €1,50. Alles wordt ter plekke vers bereid.

Fuimos allí el día de la inauguración y nos dieron 3 pretzels por 2 euros. ¡Fueron muy amables! ! ! Regresará y los probará algunas veces más para ver si mantienen los estándares. ¡Estoy acostumbrado a varios lugares de pretzel en los Estados Unidos y estos sabían igual que ellos! ! !
