Tried a pastry from Bakkerij van Kampen—flaky, fresh, and delicious with a nice dusting of powdered sugar. Great quality and taste. Definitely worth a visit!

That one star for service is for the friendly employee on the phone. The somewhat shorter, somewhat fuller lady in the store took away 4 stars. What a rude girl. Shame on the store. Last time here

This restaurant doesn't even deserve one star!

There is no sandwich for dinner because the shop stops working 45 minutes before it closes. Plus, people look at you stupidly and make fun of you!

We were in Scheveningen for a short trip and didn't want to pay 25 euros for breakfast at the hotel. That's why we finally looked for and found the Van Kempen bakery in Schebeningen and were pleasantly surprised. A huge selection of bread, rolls, sweets and savory snacks, as well as lots of coffee specialties. There are also weekly specials, some of which are served warm. The price-performance ratio is excellent and the store is very busy. Be prepared for waiting times if necessary. It's worth it. Unfortunately there are only two tables with chairs in the store.

Just a top baker, I come from the vicinity of Schiphol and then go to Scheveningen with my wife, but first I'll have a cup of coffee and eat a delicious sandwich at the top ones from Van Kempen, then I'll have some bread put away, otherwise it's off to the beach to pick up the bread on the way back and then I'll have had a great day, but I still have a question for Van Kempen, can you also come my way with a business?

One is what I ordered, and the other is what I received. I wouldn’t have made such a fuss if it weren’t for a staff member who treated me as if I were stupid. I ordered this cake for my boss’s birthday because they specifically requested this exact design. Even though I’m not a baker, I can confidently say that it’s not a particularly complicated cake to make. When placing my order, I showed the reference picture multiple times, and the staff even called the bakery twice to explain the design. At one point, they also consulted a driver, though I wasn’t sure if he was the baker or the owner, but he was clearly linked to the bakery. I spent over 20 minutes placing the order to ensure the cake would be made exactly as requested. I even clarified that I didn’t care about the shape but that the overall appearance needed to match the picture. After finalizing the order, I asked Denis if I should still send the reference image, but he assured me it wasn’t necessary, saying, “It’s not that complicated.” He wrote down the details himself and seemed confident that everything was clear. However, when I picked up the cake today, it looked nothing like what I had ordered. When I asked Denis if he thought the cake resembled the reference image, he casually responded that it did. I was genuinely shocked by his answer. I have previously ordered at least four personalized cakes from this bakery and never had an issue. I wasn’t asking for anything beyond what I ordered, nor was I demanding a refund. The problem isn’t even the fact that I essentially received only 28.17% of what I paid for. The real issue is that I repeatedly emphasized that I wanted the cake to look as requested, not some white-cream confetti mess that looks like a toddler decorated it. Their response? Either accept a €10 refund or personally return the cake to another town outside of Den Haag, wait for them to redo it, and then pick it up myself. Why should I have to go out of my way to fix their mistake? And frankly, based on my experience, I don’t believe Denis should be working there at all.

Tried to buy something here, but unfortunately I was not looked at and never helped. I just left again. It all looked nice.

Good bakery, nothing wrong with that. But since they have extra tables, there is often a long line for sandwiches. Getting a simple loaf of bread is just not an option anymore. You have to stand in line for 30 minutes listening to half-German English instructions about what should be on the sandwich.

Very fresh and delicious. They make whatever you want for you. All the bread were freshly baked.

Super cute little bakery, fair prices and super nice Service! We had our breakfast there everyday and it was always super yummy and didn't take a lot of time. Would recommend!

The baker and the staff are by far really great. Attention is paid to the selection, quality and little things such as the type of bread or whether it should be warmed up. Suggestions, recommendations are made and they have been helpful every visit. (The cake also had a fantastically good price/performance ratio.) Our hotel offered breakfast for €25 per day per person. However, the visit was quite expensive. The three of us were able to start the day cheaper and, I think, better. We took it with us on the last day. Otherwise the seats were normal or you sat in the passage because of the shop next door.

I always enjoy getting very tasty sandwiches here. The staff is friendly and helpful. These are professionals with a heart for hot cakes. Big thumbs up for this baker.

A good bakery with tasty products, but it's a shame that if you buy a pastry in the morning it will be old, pastry from the day before. That's impossible!!!! It's now been a year, I don't eat much pastry at Van Kempen anymore because it's often the same in the morning from the day before, but today (Sunday morning 9 o'clock) I was at the Van Kempen bakery in Scheveningen. I wanted to have pastries (I often say that they must be fresh), but there was almost nothing in the display case (certainly not the pastries I wanted). I asked the girl behind the counter if she had any pastries behind them (the girls who worked there last year took the pastries from the back if they had not yet been refilled), the answer was no. How strange for a bakery that has no pastries on Sunday mornings. Too bad!!! But not only sad but also ridiculous!! Then let's go to the bakery in Gentsestraat.

I love the fresh sandwiches they make! My favourite was an egg sandwich. The cakes and pastries are delicious and have their own kick, some are too sweet but it's a good combination with bitter coffee drinks to balance the taste. It's a good bakery to start your day. I miss eating chocolate brownies and surprisingly bonkie! 😅 Every time I go to the bakery, I always try different cakes. I wish they had that kind of bakery here in Venice, Italy. It's so rare to find a huge variety of breads and sweets in one store. 😮‍💨 I am a picky eater but this bakery would definitely recommend it with everyone. ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🤎🖤🩶🤍🩷♥️

The food looks like they order it from somewhere and bake it. I don't think they bake anything themselves, but I could be wrong. What really bothers me is the slowness of the staff. They set everything up on one side, pay for it on the other side and then walk back at their leisure to pick everything up. I think it's so slow that Bizzey could make a song about it...

Good cappuccino, breads and cakes. Great quality and a fair price. However, the attendants always are with bad mood and answer simple question with rudeness. Definitely, they are not prepared to deal with the public

Absolut nettes und freundliches Personal. Brötchen werden nach Wunsch belegt (Salat, Käse, Wurst, Gurken etc) angenehm zum Frühstücken wenn man hier Urlaub macht.

Ruime keuze in brood en gebak. De kwaliteit is uitstekend en de medewerkers zijn vlot en vriendelijk. De zaak is schoon en fris. Je kunt er ook belegde broodjes of warme gevulde broodjes krijgen en goede koffie!

Diese Bäckerei ist etwas unscheinbar, dafür um so interessanter wenn man im Laden steht. Viele süße und herzhafte Leckereien zu guten Preisen und nette Bedienung. Die bessere Alternative zu Amsterdam. Leider gibt es keine gute Möglichkeit vor Ort zu essen. Es gab kein Besteck. Und auch der Kaffee war leider sehr wenig.
