Bakkerij de Groot in Wijk 00 Drachten

Bought a "too good to go" package here today. I walked over in the rain, and the cashier immediately got straight to the point. "No, that's not possible, I don't have anything for you," while the woman in front of me walked out with the same package. Then the employee talked on the phone for seven minutes (I had a parking ticket that wouldn't wait). My phone screen turned red, and my package was canceled. "Yes, I'm so sorry," and I was allowed back out into the rain. The store was still full of bread, so that wasn't the problem. If a company experiences such a change, make it right with the customer. Summary: I bought a package here and came back empty-handed and very disappointed.

The bread and rolls are very good, authentic, and pure, but the Portuguese pastries taste different than they used to. Bakkerij de Groot also has Portuguese pastries, and they tasted just like they used to. We used to go to my aunt's in Heeg, and they had a bakery nearby that also sold Portuguese pastries, which we always took home. Rijenga used to have Portuguese pastries that tasted similar, but it seems like they've changed now. I thought, who knows, maybe it has something to do with mass production.

I walked in here with a very festive feeling to buy some delicious pastries. Unfortunately, the festive feeling quickly vanished due to the distant and cold behavior of the employee. I tried to have some nice interaction about the delicious chocolate and such on display, but this is not possible with this employee. The only thing she wanted to know was how many pastries we wanted. No explanation whatsoever about the different pastries. This employee seemed better suited for a behind-the-scenes position. Also striking was the large number of Easter chocolates and other Easter-related treats, even though Easter has already passed. I drove here specifically to try this bakery, but unfortunately, this will remain a one-time visit. P.S. I normally only write positive reviews.

A variety of tasty pastries and super friendly staff.

Outstanding service, high-quality (and delicious!) products, simple and pleasant experience.
