Beautifully and tastefully decorated with a friendly owner who had just become a grandfather (his daughter had given birth for the first time), very friendly and helpful staff, and very tasty and plentiful food.

We had a delicious meal. The bread board with homemade herb butter and a kind of pesto, and the melon with seasoned arugula were delicious. For the main course, a wonderfully tender beef tenderloin, tasty seasoned rice, and seasoned green beans. We were pleasantly surprised and will definitely be back.

I have eaten here often in the past; the quality of the food was incredibly good back then. Saturday, May 16th, was a real disappointment. The starter of fried mussels and fried shrimp was passable. For the main course, I ordered a skewer with a bulb of onion the size of a baseball stuck on it!😳 The side dishes: the fried potatoes looked good but were tasteless; the vegetables: broccoli and zucchini were overcooked, they looked like compote. The rice was practically cold. Dessert: the pancakes were good. Eton Mess should be served in a coupe, not on a plate. The taste was good. It is a shame that not enough attention is paid to the serving of dishes. The service was friendly. We will not be returning for the time being; it was a real disappointment after the previous good experience we had. Very unfortunate!

I proposed to my girlfriend here last weekend. I was very warmly welcomed by Makedonia! The food was delicious again, too.

We eat here about 3 times a year, and have been doing so for many years. We notice that the quality is significantly lower than we were used to in the past. Baguette with herb butter looked much more elaborate 2 years ago than it does now, and the salad was also very simple. The rice in the starter was barely undercooked. The main course was a large piece of meat (could have been smaller) with a very salty sauce; we couldn't taste any other flavor. The vegetables were also very salty and completely overcooked. The baklava was very hard, barely cuttable with a knife. Furthermore, there was little choice in 0.0% beer. We mentioned the above when paying the bill. Unfortunately, we didn't get the impression that they were open to feedback. The lady behind the bar immediately went on the defensive instead of accepting the feedback. For now, this is no longer my favorite restaurant in Stadskanaal.

We dined at Balkan Restaurant Makedonia today, and what a wonderful experience it was. For starters, we had a sushi roll, which is highly recommended. The prawns were also very well prepared and full of flavor. For the main course, we both chose a beef tenderloin dish, and it was cooked perfectly — exactly as it should be. The sauces were delicious, and the side dishes completed the meal perfectly. What struck us most was that everything was really well-seasoned. They dare to spice things up here, and you can taste it! For dessert, we had a tasting platter, and that was top-notch too. A perfect ending to the evening. Additionally, we definitely want to mention the personal and friendly service — that makes dining here even better. We are on vacation in the area and ended up here based on the good reviews. And we can only say: they are absolutely true. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful Christmas meal. Only when we got home did we see on the bill that we'd been charged €7.50 for the salad that the staff had said was "included"? Such a shame, especially since you pay considerably more during Christmas for the same (shortened) menu as "normal." Completely understandable during these times, but this one left a sour taste in our mouths.

I ate here for the first time last week and will definitely be back. The meats were delicious and well-prepared, the salads were tasty, and the service was friendly. Reservations are recommended.

No table despite reservations, and we were then seated among very noisy guests. The food was minimal, bland, and there was no salt or pepper on the table. No service to prompt for drinks, and the wait for the main course and dessert was very long. The vegetables and side dishes were truly minimal and unimaginative. I don't understand the good reviews and star ratings. We won't be back.

The two of us dined together this evening, even though we hadn't booked in advance, which is definitely recommended. They still managed to find us a table. We had a wonderful meal; the homemade garlic sauce is truly delicious. The pork tenderloin was wonderfully tender and a generous portion. The side dishes were smaller than you often see, but you can order them if necessary. Better to order them than toss them away. The staff were all very friendly. We had a wonderful meal. We recently enjoyed a wonderful evening at a charming Macedonian restaurant that surprised us on every level. From the moment we stepped inside, we felt welcomed by the warm atmosphere. The menu offered a nice selection of authentic Macedonian dishes, but it was the traditional stew—also called "selsko meso," depending on the variety—that immediately caught our attention. Served in an earthenware bowl, it was clear from the first spoonful that this would be the culinary highlight of the evening. The dish had a deep, rich flavor, thanks to the slow-cooked meat in a spicy sauce. The meat was buttery tender and practically fell apart just by looking at it. The spices were perfectly balanced, with a subtle smokiness and a hint of heat that lingered without being overpowering. What made the dish extra special was how homely it tasted—as if you were sitting at a Macedonian grandmother's table. The side dishes of potatoes, rice, and salad completed the meal. We've rarely tasted such an authentic and heartwarming dish in a restaurant. All in all, it was a successful culinary experience. This restaurant is a hidden gem for anyone who wants to discover the rich flavors of Macedonia. We'll definitely be back—if only for that fantastic stew!

A restaurant where there are 13 in a dozen. You can argue about tastes, but the preparation must be good. The steak tartare lacked quite a few herbs and was ordinary. The rolled schnitzel was very dry. The stew was good. Although it would have been nicer if the plates had been preheated. The steak pepperoni was not special. I expect a large juicy steak from a Balkan restaurant. This one was not large, but thin. The taste of the sauce was indicated as very spicy. I did not find it spicy at all. But yes, tastes differ. The bread board and the desserts were good. All in all €180 spent for 3 people for an average dinner. Staff is friendly and does what it has to do. The atmosphere is less if you put the tables too close together. No repetition.

Al jaren trouwe klant van zowel Makedonia Stadskanaal, Winschoten als Desperado. Met een diverse kaart aan heerlijke gerechten voor ieder wat wils! En zeker de Rib Eye is een aanrader. Daarnaast erg gastvrij en goede service. Leuk personeel en een fijne sfeer.

Wat een fantastische ervaring bij Macadonia in Stadskanaal! Vanaf het moment dat je binnenstapt, voel je je welkom. Het personeel is uiterst vriendelijk, professioneel en altijd in voor een praatje, zonder opdringerig te zijn. Het eten? Subliem. De kwaliteit van het vlees is uitzonderlijk – mals, goed gekruid en perfect bereid. De grillgerechten zijn een echte aanrader, vooral de mixed grill en de lamsspies, die smelten op je tong. Ook de bijgerechten en sauzen zijn huisgemaakt en met zorg bereid. De sfeer in het restaurant is warm en uitnodigend. De inrichting is stijlvol en verzorgd, met voldoende ruimte tussen de tafels voor privacy. Alles is brandschoon, wat de hoge standaard nog eens onderstreept. Wat Macadonia echt bijzonder maakt, is de combinatie van topkwaliteit eten, vriendelijke service en een eerlijke prijs. Je krijgt hier echt waar voor je geld.

Ik ben hier inmiddels voor de zoveelste keer geweest met mijn vrouw en heb weer heerlijk genoten van dit restaurant. De ambiance, de vriendelijke medewerkers en de fijne bediening maakt dit een van de beste restaurants van het noorden. Ik heb genoten van de Ribeye steak en mijn vrouw nam de Surf & turf, allebei echt een aanrader! Het is dat ik maar 5 sterren kan geven anders had ik er meer gegeven. Groetjes.

Very neat and correct staff and super delicious food

The food tasted good, the disadvantages are the high price for fairly simple dishes, all garnished with raw onion and the minimal number of side dishes (must be ordered additionally). As well as the chocolate that must be ordered additionally for 3 euros with a plain cup of coffee. A cookie or something like that would have been charming considering the already high prices.

Eten was matig niet bijzonder. Eigenaar heeft alleen aandacht voor mensen die hij kent, totaal niet voor nieuwe mensen.

I would really like to come here again. Ate with a group of 6, all dishes were fantastic. Despite a late reservation, we were able to stay and were seated in an alcove with our group, which made it feel really cozy. They still know how to do it here. Management visits regularly, which we really appreciate. Food itself is delicious! Everyone enjoyed it from starter to dessert. Music in the background is really in the background, which is nice. The temperature in the restaurant is pleasant. Decoration very nice. Not a single downside. We will come again soon.

We colleagues from the catering industry had dinner at Makedonia one evening. It's a shame that we cannot give a positive response. Our experience, we were enjoying the starter, everything was already prepared for the main course. The main course was already placed on the table and it was lukewarm and we think the main courses had been ready for a while because the components were not warm but lukewarm, which does not improve the quality. Pork tenderloin was dry and therefore tough. Too bad such an experience on a pleasant evening out, the staff was also not in the best mood during dessert and wanted us to pay quickly so that the business could close.

This is a restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere. The combination of luxury and cozy. The staff is always friendly and professional. As a customer you can really relax here while enjoying a nice drink and good food. That delicious food is an understatement, because it is really great here. The only downside is that the wait can be quite long. This only applies to the main course. The rest of the dishes are always served quickly. But because the quality of the main course is always good, it is not a disaster.

Went there last night (Wednesday March 20, 2024) with my parents and some invited guests for a delicious meal, and that was the 2nd time, but it is really a very highly recommended restaurant, where you can eat deliciously, the atmosphere is super cozy and cozy, and the staff including the owner are super friendly, fast and very professional! They serve with their heart, and they are really great! They get a big 10+ from me because they deserve it! I hope that many will follow me and think the same way I do! Feel free to visit it if you have never been there before, and you will see that you will also have the same experiences as I did, in a positive way!

Vandaag mijn verjaardag gevierd met mijn man, kinderen en aanhang. Heerlijk gegeten. Personeel is erg vriendelijk. Sfeer is erg ontspannen en gezellig. Een warm en knus restaurant waar we zeker weer een keer komen eten.

Gisteren samen met mijn man hier gegeten.het eten was heerlijk.zeer sfeervol gastvrije bediening .schoon en netjes.wij komen zeker een keer terug.

We hebben de verjaardag van mijn man gevierd. Met ons gezin van 7 personen. We hebben genoten. Heerlijk eten, hele goede sfeer.
