Cozy atmosphere, staff very nice and attentive, delicious food: pumpkin soup, Caesar salad, and tagliatelle with mushrooms 😋 We were served quickly, so we were well on time for the movie.

The food at lunch was disappointing. The mustard soup was bad.

Very bad service with disrespectful waiters taking literally 30 minutes and when I go inside to order say they'll come outside with ab attitude like im bothering them.

Waited an hour and a half for a Club Sandwich. Apologies from the wait staff, but nothing else. A mediocre experience, unfortunately!

What a disappointing restaurant this is. Limited menu. One of the starters was unavailable. The starters that were available were of poor quality. The burrata was nothing more than burrata on some mixed salad with 6 halved cherry tomatoes; no dressing, nothing. The carpaccio was sour and was served without cheese or pine nuts. The salmon sandwich was extremely minimally filled. Main courses were okay, but certainly not worth the price, and the first three desserts turned out to be unavailable. No alternatives were offered either. None of this was mentioned properly beforehand, but only when ordering. The service was also poor. There were few guests, and yet it took 45 minutes per course before it was served. I have never eaten so badly for this price. Absolutely not recommended.

We had a High Tea here on August 19th using a Wonderbox Deluxe gift card. We had requested in advance, and received confirmation via email, to replace the fish for one person with something else. Unfortunately, the kitchen was unaware of this, so we both ended up with a salmon sandwich. The waitress only came by when we were already at the desserts, so we just left it at that. The Red Velvet was a bit dry but tasty. The scone with jam and cream was not made with clotted cream or mascarpone/crème fraîche, but with regular whipped cream and a little strawberry jam. According to my partner, a glass of fresh orange juice was also supposed to be included in the Wonderbox package, but the waitress knew nothing about it; she had to check, but after 15 minutes she still hadn't returned, so we just left. The towels in the ladies' restroom were out of stock, but there was a toilet roll to dry our hands. Honestly, it was okay, but not worth repeating.

Nice place and a unique spot. Unfortunately, the service was way below par. The blonde lady who called herself Anouk and "helped" us came across as very unprofessional, smelled strongly of weed, and had terrible breath. On top of that, she started telling a long and inappropriate story about herself. And that’s putting it mildly. We really just sat there looking at each other thinking: what is going on here? I had lunch there and find the price-quality ratio a bit skewed. Too expensive for the food you get. It relies mainly on the location. Moreover, the interior is worn and the route to the ladies' restroom is really unacceptable.

I have been here many times over the years, service is fast and good and ambience is on point.

Great service and a nice spot next to a church, but with prices as if you were sitting on Dam Square in Amsterdam (€5.20 for a fresh mint tea, and it comes without honey). Also paid €9 for apple pie that is listed for €6.80 on the menu. In short, pretty okay, but bring your wallet and check your bill before you pay! P.S. The café indicated that apple pie is listed for €6.80 on the bar menu and €9 on the evening menu (with a scoop of ice cream). I ordered from the bar menu.

We thought we'd "just have a nice cup of coffee" before the concert. After ordering inside ourselves, we paid €8.00 right away! And after asking three times, a small, not-really-hot cup of coffee finally arrived. Without any warmth or apologies..... They will never see us there again!!

A lovely city garden for the summer, and a crackling fireplace inside for the winter. The staff is always friendly!

Good experience at Pavlov. The food tasted great and was well prepared, even if the portions were a bit smaller than I would personally prefer. The staff was friendly and welcoming, but the service was quite slow. We waited a long time on the patio before being helped, and the food also took a while to arrive, especially when you are already hungry. That said, the location really makes up for it. Sitting with a view of Spui is a big plus, with a view and a great atmosphere. Inside is also nicely decorated and feels warm and cozy. Overall, I would still recommend it for a lunch break or a relaxed dinner, especially if you are going for the view and setting.

Note: This review was written on August 2020 based on our wedding experience. Pavlov is the place to be for group dinners! I just had my wedding dinner at this restaurant and the preparation is perfect. From the start, they have been accommodating us with friendly and flexible service. The communication is nothing but perfect; they are easily reachable and always want to help us run the dinner our way. Plus, their foods are very good! The guests were so satisfied with the foods, the drinks, and the atmosphere. I really recommend this restaurant if you are looking to host a dinner or a wedding on a budget!

Remains my favorite little spot. Last night, after Thai dinner, I had a latte with Pavlova here. Good heavens... the others had apple pie with ice cream, red velvet cake with whipped cream. Nice fire, great atmosphere.

Ordered a hummus bagel. It was very tasty.

On March 14, we visited Pavlov in The Hague. The location is nice, but we were shocked by the prices: 9.80 euros per slice of cake and 5.80 euros for tea. The red velvet was buttery and not tasty. Additionally, we received absolutely no empathy from the staff when we expressed our surprise. All in all, we felt it was absolutely not worth the price and we will not be returning.

The first floor was a great location for a political meeting. There was a fully equipped second bar with plenty of surrounding space and a balcony for smokers. The service was good and friendly.

They don't open the upper floor even when the lower floor is full. When we spot an empty table and tried to sit we were informed that the table next to us had a meeting and we couldn't be seated next to them. If you don't want people to eat close your restaurant. Simple.

Pavlov is next to the Filmhuis and across from Amare. Maybe that's why people were queuing for a quick bite to eat before the show. Because I can't believe it's for the delicious food. I've rarely eaten so badly. Cod fried in pork fat? Bitterballen with fake mustard, cheese sticks with fake chili sauce. The main course was served without cutlery, and drinks never arrived. In short, terrible!

We had a delicious lunch, drinks, and dessert afterward. Cozy decor and excellent service.

The steak was underdone and cold. Mussels were good. I was expecting some baguette type bread and received supermarket one, soft and gluey. Waiting time was too long while more than half tables were available.

Cozy place with a lovely outdoor terrace in the summer. In the winter, it gets quite chilly inside. The wine is expensive and reasonable to mediocre. The food is the same. The waitresses are very friendly and the service is fast.

A good lunch in pleasant surroundings.

Despite some bad reviews, we decided to dine at Pavlov before a theater performance at Amare. Pavlov is a cozy restaurant with a wide variety of seating and tables. Our waitress, a Portuguese student, was very attentive and extremely friendly. The menu is laid out on the table like a placemat and offers plenty of choice. We opted for Fish & Chips and a Smashburger with a glass of house wine. The fish was a Hake, very tasty with plenty of vegetables and fries. The burger came with extra cheese, a little salad, and fries. For around €60, we had a pleasant and delicious meal!

The restaurant has a good location and the decoration was also great, cozy for winter time. The food was also tasty and of decent portion. When we visited around 6 on a Monday evening, it wasn't crowded at all. It therefore appears that reservation is not needed on normal workday evenings.

We had a wonderful high tea. Lots of different snacks. Everything looked and tasted delicious.

The three-course Autumn menu looked quite good on the menu, but it was a major disappointment. The duck breast appetizer was cooked far too long, and the sauce/dressing was too sweet. The main course of sea bream fillet skin-on, served with vegetables and parsnip puree was okay. The cheese board for dessert was a major disappointment, especially considering the €5 extra charge: a few cold and tasteless pieces of "cream brie" and a simple manchego with overly dry fig bread and burnt walnuts. There were also some grapes, two small radicchio leaves (?), and a slightly oversized spoonful of apple compote. In my opinion, the kitchen could use some improvement here. The atmosphere in the restaurant is pleasant, although the service was a bit lacking.

Nice place, large outdoor terrace, central in The Hague city centre. Good food and service.

I can only comment on the staff, who are kind. One big thing that turned me off is the moths in this place. I find it disgusting. I fumigated my clothes when I got home. Unfortunately, I can't reply to your reply (thank you for that!), so an edit: it's about clothes moths. I was inside, and clothes moths are coming from your thick curtains and the benches.

We had a wonderful waitress (Jess) and the recommended burger with truffle Mayo was amazing. Lovely restaurant with a cozy interior and a small but diverse menue. Sadly we were not hungry enough to try the the Menue option but it sounded great and like good value.

Five ladies and I were supposed to have lunch after the movie; we had made a reservation. Upon entering, we could sit wherever we wanted. It was cold and very drafty everywhere. The area by the fireplace was occupied by a group of ladies. We decided to keep our coats on. The service was poor, the atmosphere chilly. The food was terrible; for €23 I got a deep plate of soggy quinoa with a few peas, some mushrooms, and some zucchini. In a word, tasteless!!! I am never going again!

A beautiful outdoor terrace, but unfortunately, terrible service. I had to walk inside three times to get a simple order placed after nearly an hour. The waiter forgot about it at first, and then he stood there calmly smoking his cigarette while his colleague was chatting happily with some friends. It was a shame for such a nice place. Besides the drinks, there was no real food when I was there, just dry fried food that was expensive for the poor quality. I won't be coming back here.

We're going out to eat at a respectable Dutch restaurant. The staff there only speak English; I feel like a tourist in my own country. What's more, we deliberately chose Pavlov because of the mussels on the menu, which they apparently don't have. We've had excellent meals at Pavlov in the past, but this was such a disappointment that we won't be going back. It's a shame.

Delicious food, nice employees and very nice inside

This afternoon I had a delicious high tea with my daughter on the terrace! Very extensive, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere! We received a Wonderbox gift certificate, and this is the best place for high tea in The Hague! At the end, we even received a container to take home the leftover sandwiches and chocolates.

A huge disappointment. The carpaccio tasted like nothing. And the red velvet cake was so disgusting, like you only had butter in your mouth. The lemonade was also awful. It was very bitter. The waitress couldn't even crack a smile.

It was a reserved lunch for about 25 people. We walked in from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. The assigned seating was outside, not on the terrace, inside the windbreaks, but outside. Everyone was sitting there, shivering. Asking for a different seat was no problem. Indeed, from 12/12:30 pm onwards, the place filled up completely. I think around 12:30 pm, the good news came: we could sit downstairs in the conservatory. Luckily. Around 1:00 pm, almost everyone had their lunch orders. Except for mine, something had gone wrong in the kitchen. By the time I had to leave for work, my bread and croquettes arrived. A farewell I'll never forget.

The bittergarnituur and atmosphere are excellent. The service seems overwhelmed by the volume of work and orders. Unfortunately, I was only able to get one Chardonnay in an hour and a half.

I only drank a spa red, small bottle, no lemon, cost 4 euros, ridiculous. Moreover, the terrace was disappointing, a lot of noise from the busy road next to it and tables close together.

Food was ok, but the atmosphere was far from intimate (as it used to be) due to the audible hollow clicking of drinks on the first, second and third floor - very unfortunate. The lady who served us did not feel hospitable, a bit angry

Lovely setting, friendly staff that were suitably attentive, but not hovering. I had the steak tartare and a glass of wine. Both were very good and arrived quickly. The location is on a busy street and convenient to my hotel. The best part was the outside space where I ate. It’s situated away from the street, in the church yard where Spinoza is buried. The church (New Church), is beautiful and not that new. It was a Tuesday evening and beautiful weather. The restaurant was busy enough, but not too busy. I was on my own and it made for a lovely evening.

Rarely had a bad meal here. I ordered a hamburger, it was vegetarian. My bad, didn't pay close attention. But the well-baked bean creation that came to the table was really inedible. Toppings on the burger also tasted as if they had been cut with a fish knife. Nasty. My dining companion had fish & chips. That too went back to the kitchen half eaten. You even have to pay extra for your mayo, even if you already spent 20 euros on that pathetic veggie burger. Drinks expensive, the only positive point, and a real positive point, is the location. Before that, I would take the price of the drinks for granted. Not the food.

I was sitting at the table, which a friend was waiting for me in order to enjoy the moment together. Unfortunately, I found a waiter who accused my friend of not paying the bill for Wednesday, April 2nd, because we had already been in the place that day with 2 other friends and we had paid the bill separately. The disturbing fact was the manner and the fact that it was done in front of other customers. I promptly contested the fact and both of us having paid by card we were able to demonstrate the payment of the bill for April 2nd. I emphasize the fact that the waiter thanked me, but did not apologize for the misunderstanding.

Always nice to be here, good atmosphere, nice service, served on time if you indicate what time you have to leave, mistake in the bill corrected with a smile. Unfortunately, the roasted pork belly was a bit tough and certainly not crispy, the black bean burger with chutney was nice and spicy as always. Unfortunately, for the first time it was no longer possible to exchange the fries with your dish for sweet potato fries, which you have to buy separately for €6 excluding mayonnaise of €0.5 and your regular fries are therefore thrown away afterwards, which is not very sustainable.

1-3-25 first experience with Pavlov. Ordered several main courses. These were fine with the exception of the mussels; very small and dry. Desserts and wine also tasty. Toilet 6-.

Contrary to certain other reviews, we had a great meal. Service was fast and polite, food was more than fine. A custom order was no problem for our son. That on a Monday evening. We would eat here again without hesitation. Absolutely great.

I ordered groot Heineken (8€), and everything was fine, then the waiter came and asked me if I want something else, I said Birra moretti and she asked "groot"? I said yes. When I payed with cash, she behaved very strangely and her colleague came to help, but they didn't give me receipt or anything. Only at home I realised I paid for two birra moretti, because she brought me 0,5 litre that you don't even have in your offer?! And then she put it there twice as two 0,3 ones (5,50€x2) ? How somebody who knows nothing about beer or about your drink menu can work in there? 19 euros for two beers is really bad...

very tasty, the price is normal, it takes a long time to prepare, I left hungry, but I ate very tasty, the portions are tasty but small, the room is cool in winter. There were few people, but 3 waiters took a very long time to serve.

If you want to see a concert performance, Pavlov is the wrong place. Made a reservation at 5 p.m. and indicated on the spot that we had to leave at 7 p.m. to attend a concert. At 6.30 pm the main meal was finally served cold, after also old soup and a 45-minute wait. No more time for dessert and coffee. Service was very courteous and extensive apologies. Same problems experienced last year. This was our last time eating at Pavlov!

Service was slow and not familiar (didn't know whether 2 of the 7 main courses were available or not), wines very, very mediocre and few, main courses just bad (old sea bass, gourmet more thick fried fat than anything else, quinoa unappetizing -3 plates were returned more or less untouched, service said but did nothing with them, 2 of the 8 dishes were served 10 minutes later - miscommunication). Stay away from here!!

Had a nice dinner yesterday with a group of friends. Very good service and tasty food. Wine was great, Montepulciano. One very small negative point, our fries arrived a little late, but they were delicious! Recommended this restaurant.

I had dinner here with my family yesterday. It was December and of course cold outside, unfortunately it was almost as cold inside, the spot by the window was cozy, but in the draft it was not comfortable to sit. We also didn't think the service was great, we had to ask for the bill 3 times and eventually went for a cup of coffee somewhere where it was warmer. Nice for the summer, but not nice for the winter.

Pavlov explodes! It has become too popular and now they have started a resistance in the kitchen. They had forgotten us, but after 45 minutes the soup arrived. No mustard soup and then no pumpkin soup either, but an indefinable fatty chicken stock diluted with dishwater (without explanation). The rest also mediocre and expensive. The staff did their best and kept saying sorry. We are cheerful customers but now it was too colorful.

I really liked this place where I had dinner with my partner before a concert in a church that is 10 meters away. The food was delicious, portions reasonable. The desserts were delicious! The best, the attention. They also take into account if you go to a show after dinner to manage time well. I felt very comfortable. I will repeat!

30 euros for a snack garnish, 8 euros for a draft beer, it's just a bit too much for me. I understand that you have a nice place, but if you pretend to be high-end, don't serve the same dishes as Febo.

Beautiful location both inside and outside. Despite several empty tables, we are not allowed to sit inside, so we took a seat on the messy terrace. Damp cushions, full ashtrays and leaves on the chairs. Drinks are terribly expensive and the 30 euro drinks board consists entirely of a bag of Aldi chip snacks. There were 5 olives included for decoration. Half the party had stomach and intestinal problems afterwards.

I had to eat at a bad pizzeria again to appreciate Pavlov again. The youngest employee was also warm, careful and hospitable. And what courage to put grilled pointed cabbage on the menu, it was fantastic too. Bravo.

Several empty tables (and not reserved), but the two of us were not welcome here. The staff (who did not understand Dutch) said in English “we don't accept guests anymore” (at 8:30 PM). Rarely have I felt so unwelcome anywhere.

After a number of positive experiences, now less so. For a dinner arrangement prior to a concert, we had to be there at 5 p.m., were given a seat at the back of the greenhouse, and had to ask ourselves if we could order something. Ultimately requested another location, which was agreed upon. Autumn menu is tasty. Tiramisu is largely just whipped cream, which is disappointing. Operation by very young people, sometimes with little experience. They do their best.

Beautiful atmospheric lunch and brunch spot

The food was excellent - fresh and full of flavors. Tiramisu was not really “Italian”. As we were a group, our orders got mixed up, with major delays and confusion. We had a lovely bubbly staff who offered us some complimentary desserts due to the delays (atrium). All in all, a lovely place.

Taste was okay Then both have a sandwich She asked: Do you want white or brown bread? We both said white. We finally got sourdough bread, it was tasty but we didn't ask for it. if you want a sandwich, Pay for both cheese and ham separately So your bread is €5, the sandwich then becomes €7! They indicate this with a +1 cheese +1 ham And on the menu there is a small sandwich for €5 So assume that price! The place was very empty But logical with the prices they ask there. Have lunch somewhere else from now on

One of the worst restaurant experiences ever. At the start, the service indicates that it is busier than expected. - A starter does not contain prickly pears (as stated on the menu) but regular figs. - When we were told that this would be checked in the kitchen, we did not hear anything back. - We wait (too) long for the main courses. They are not special and pricey. - The service forgets a side dish (salad). The place is now largely empty. - Cigarette smoke is blowing in from smokers in the garden (from staff?). - If a table companion orders a Pavlova for dessert (you would think a Pavlov specialty) they are informed that it has not been available for a week. - We wait (too) long for the desserts. When we asked, it turned out that the waiter thought we had already had our desserts. The kitchen is already closed. - Despite the poor service, we are not offered anything for the inconvenience (e.g. drinks are free). Of course, offering free coffee makes no sense. As if we want to stay even longer. After almost 3 hours without dessert, we leave Pavlov. We won't be coming back here again.

Wow: having to order yourself via QR code, and then 7 euros for a glass of Brand Weizen of 0.3 liters. I expect half a liter for 7 euros. Pavlov is now a kind of McDonald's, but with high prices.

Delicious food on the outdoor terrace. The service was very nice and was clearly looking forward to it. The food was delicious and afterwards we had coffee with a piece of chocolate cake.

The terrace is a small oasis of peace in the middle of the busy city. The lunch was tasty and affordable, and the lady was very friendly.

Super fun opportunity for a drink and a snack. Very atmospheric. There was no one there for a while, but it turned out to be only 1 employee (still). Super nice. Had delicious fresh mint tea. With a salmon bagel. Really delicious. There were 5 of us. The chiabatta was too hard on the bottom. The knife didn't get through. But that was one time. Worth repeating. We'll come again. 🥰
