It was our first time. The food was really tasty. The atmosphere was good and the people working there were very enthusiastic. It was great fun. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful dining experience at Barcode! We came as a large family group with both adults and young kids, and everything was simply spot-on. Every single dish—from the starters to the main courses—was delicious and fresh. The owner was incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The entire staff provided excellent service, and we enjoyed every single moment. Highly recommended!

Fantastic place! We visited Barcode with a big family group spanning all ages, and we couldn't have asked for a better evening. We ordered a bottle of rosé; it was out of stock. An alternative was offered, but it later turned out to be much more expensive. You would normally expect this to be mentioned, but well, perhaps we weren't paying attention. The alternative was on the menu, but it cost much more. Eventually, when paying, the bottle turned out to be even more expensive than listed on the menu. We received the difference back, but with the notification that they were going to throw away the menu, and that we had a great rosé for far too little (a bottle of Mirabeau for 45 euros, for which they actually charge 57 euros). The appetizers were very mediocre; what we initially ordered was no longer available. Here too, the story was that the menu was no longer correct. All very strange, and a poor price-quality ratio. We wanted to give Barcode another chance (they advertised very positively), but unfortunately, it was not to be. Not recommended!

We had a truly delicious meal. The spareribs were delicious, and the pasta with beef tenderloin tips and truffle sauce was really very good. We will definitely go back here to eat lasagna with our teenagers again, as that is supposed to be very good too.

The food was terrible! The atmosphere didn't feel right and the owner just kept smiling like a farmer with a toothache. Blaming the supplier for their poor kitchen. Shame. Oh yes, and the table and cutlery weren't clean either. Too little staff and serving everything by hand instead of on a tray. My mouth is still dry because the deluxe rolls were... either it was bread from yesterday... or it's been sitting in a basket all day. A waste of my money and time, and a shame about this bad lunch with a group.

The staff have no idea what you are talking about when you order a specific beer or wine from the menu. Three times, the ordered beer turns out to be unavailable or the wrong beer is served. A specific wine is also ordered, but the house wine is delivered in a dirty glass. Dishes listed on the terrace menu and beers listed on the menu turn out to no longer be in stock. Regarding the mussels, the majority are closed and a significant portion lacks a firm texture, meaning they are old and spoiled. For me, definitely once is enough, never again!

We had a delicious meal and sat on the terrace at Barcode. The chef's salad and vitello tonnato stood out. What also stood out was how friendly the staff were and how we were able to sit comfortably outside under a heat lamp (despite a heavy downpour). Very cozy.

The food was fine, very tasty, and the portions are more than large enough. The staff were still a bit inexperienced, so they paid little attention to empty glasses and plates that could be cleared. This is something they can learn from. The price is very reasonable, especially compared to other establishments in Valkenswaard.

The only restaurant that was willing to cook us dinner after 10 PM! Very friendly service! Thank you!

Traveling thru Valkenswaard from Ontario, Canada, we stopped in without a reservation and were graciously accepted. We enjoyed a superb burger with an appropriate portion of fries which we "washed" down with some Tripel Beers from Achel....a great recommendation!....although our meal was excellent it was the attention to detail and the camaraderie of our hosts that made the evening special....it is a place that would be excellent to visit once a week to "catch up" with friends if we were permanently living in the area......May others come to experience the Great Taste and Laughter!....

Went for lunch with a whole group! They had a lunch board outside that we couldn't order from! The tuna sandwiches were hard, tough, and tasteless; the lettuce, etc., wasn't good (see photos). It was resolved nicely by the owner, but he blamed their baker and greengrocer. We received an apology and a discount on the total price, which seemed logical to us, but it's not recommended. We'll go somewhere else next time!

We have had delicious meals there several times already. Especially now with the new menu. The food is prepared fresh and the meat is of good quality. The staff is also very customer-friendly, and you certainly feel welcome here.

What we've just experienced is unprecedented. I ordered a nice, cold beer and received one that was three years out of date with mold on the label. Then I received a new beer, also just barely dated 03/2026. We reported this to the waitress, who laughed it off! Then I reported it to the owner himself, and he blamed the supplier! No apology. I could just as easily have missed this. Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo on impulse.

The atmosphere is fine, only the staff is extremely slow.

A culinary surprise in Valkenswaard. What a lovely experience at this cozy family business. The risotto and mussels were really delicious, and the wine list offered plenty of choice – we tasted seven different bottles and every single one was wonderful. The service is friendly and contributed to the pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone who loves good food and hospitality. This is also the place to be for Friday afternoon drinks or a fun night out on the weekend!

The new menu is highly recommended: surprising dishes, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. From appetizers to main courses, everything is perfect. Today, after hearing so many good things about the price-quality ratio, we went out for dinner with friends and kids. There was plenty of room, but before we even sat down, we were told we weren't allowed to order 11 different dishes, especially not the kids! The tone of voice was anything but hospitable! If the kitchen can't handle that, as we were told, then you don't have a good menu. We felt completely unwelcome. We spent our money elsewhere!

Went on Monday evening. The waiter is friendly but working on his own and service was slow. Ginger tea was not the best.

Not my first time in Valkenswaard, but my first time staying overnight, so I looked for a restaurant, of which there are plenty in the market square. I ended up on the terrace of Barcode. I started with an excellent IPA and then had dinner. The tataki was very surprising. I then had the chef's salad and the scropino for dessert. An espresso with a sambuca rounded it all off. In short, a very tasty meal at a very reasonable price. Finally, a chef who doesn't drown a salad in all sorts of sauces and such. Well, and the tataki was so surprising that I could only photograph an empty plate. Incidentally, the service is pleasant, quick with a slight nonchalance. If I may make a comment? A light toasting of the bread with the salad would have been very nice. But the scropino made up for a lot.

Last week, the four of us had a wonderful meal. We'd heard a lot of positive things about the kitchen lately. New chef and new menu. We truly had a wonderful meal. We chose two sets of four appetizers and shared them. The beef tataki, shrimp in red sauce, and chicken gyoza were our favorites, but everything else was delicious as well. The terrace was pleasantly packed with diners. The café and conservatory now have nice seating, and the restrooms have been renovated. We'll definitely be back!

Food was served at different times. The sandwich looked like it was from yesterday and had been reheated, so it was very tough. The girl who tied her work shirt halfway was very unprofessional. I also politely asked a woman at the table what kind of product it was, and was given a very rude remark that I shouldn't eat it if I didn't know what it was. She couldn't explain it to me and gave me the wrong explanation when I looked it up, thinking, "Just say you don't know."

Unfortunately we had to wait a very long time for the Spanish balls.. and they were not even tasty and way too overcooked.. the Gin tonic and carpaccio were extremely tasty.. bread was not as it should be.. the young girls did their best to bring everything neatly but the kitchen did drop a few stitches.. d

Coffee on the terrace is perfect. But if you go to the men's restroom, you'll be shocked by a smelly urinal and, worst of all, nothing to dry your hands with after washing.

Very tasty food, new menu and chef are a success. Due to illness, there were few staff, so it took a little longer, but it was not disruptive, we could dine for a long time. Had calamari, prawns, risotto and ribeye, all very good.

Incredibly delicious food and delicious wine! As a starter we had scallops and prawns which were delicious and for the main the spare ribs that fell off the bone and a delicious truffle risotto with tenderloin, excellent!

Op donderdag 11 juli hebben mijn vriend en ik hier gegeten. Wij kwamen vanuit Luxemburg en besloten om in Valkenswaard wat te gaan eten. De bediening was leuk. Oprechte belangstelling van de ober. Even kletsen. Hij vertelde dat zij een nieuwe kaart hadden. Ik bestelde de coquilles en wat waren die heerlijk!!!! Echt een aanrader!
