Brasserie Hugo's Velp in Wijk 02 Velp

For years, this location has been home to a lunchroom, now called Hugo's. Friendly service, delicious food, quickly prepared. Prices aren't cheap, but you get something good in return.

The food was delicious and the atmosphere was cozy! Highly recommended! One downside: the kitchen staff shouts and argues very loudly, and you can hear them throughout the restaurant. We didn't like that.

Top-notch restaurant. Especially for a romantic getaway. Excellent service. Thankfully, the menu isn't too extensive, but the food is excellent. They make good choices here. A truly wonderful experience. Velp is on the menu.

The food was delicious. The service was quick (although a bit slower this time) and friendly. We'll definitely be back, especially for the bami croquettes.

Zeer lange wachttijden, slecht bereid eten en slechte kwaliteit en veel te duur. Uur gewacht op hoofdgerechten, waarvan zeewolf niet gaar, ribeye zenig, schnitzel taai en droog en fish bestond uit 3 reepjes van een onbestemde, smakeloze vis. Alleen dessert was lekker: ijs met slagroom.

I often go there for lunch, the staff is very impersonal. During my birthday dinner, the service was far from friendly, downright grumpy, which made the experience very disappointing.

The main course of Victoria perch was very mediocre. A triangle of perch with little flavor on a bed of bland puree and a few small, hard frozen peas. A few unidentifiable herbs were added in a heap. Not tasty and, unfortunately, no care was taken with the food, and it wasn't cheap either! The service was also indifferent and inadequate. And that for a €27.50 menu!

Voor onze beide verjaardagen. Naar Hugo's .eerder goede ervaring ..nu waren de serveerster chagrijnig en kortaf. M'n hele tafel viel het op ..wordt als een nummer behandeld..jammer.

Lunch is fine, dinner we found overpriced because almost no vegetables and half cooked, very modest portions. Most drinks are only 200ml. The prices are however adult and are not in proportion to what you get. Fortunately friendly staff.

Ik had online gereserveerd en zou een mail moeten krijgen bij akkoord. Er kwam niets. Naar het restaurant gegaan om te vragen of we die avond welkom waren, waar de medewerker vol hield toch echt een mail gestuurd te hebben. Ik had echt niets gekregen. Ze was erg geïrriteerd maar bevestigde dat we welkom waren die avond. Dezelfde dame was er ook die avond. Wederom niet bepaald vriendelijk. Lang gezicht en bot. Haar collega nam de bediening over. Ik denk omdat ze niets kon vertellen over de glutenvrije mogelijkheden. Prima voor ons, deze meneer was iets vriendelijker. De mixed grill was smaakvol, maar de kip niet gaar. In de rauwkost salade vonden we twee hoofdharen (pas in onze mond ontdekt) . Daarna was onze eetlust weg. Het afrekenen ging moeizaam. Ze hadden een storing. Ze zouden ons roepen zodra het weer werkte. Vervolgens zagen we iemand anders afrekenen. Zelf maar weer naar de kassa gelopen. Er werd niet gevraagd of het ons gesmaakt had en geen fijne avond gewenst. Erg jammer dat klantvriendelijkheid hier duidelijk niet telt. Dat vonden we nog erger dan de haren in het eten. Er waren maar weinig klanten in het restaurant. Dat zegt duidelijk meer dan goede reviews. Wij komen niet meer terug.

Whether it's Christmas Day, a work dinner or just in between, the food always tastes great here, there is plenty of choice and the service is both friendly and alert.

Dankzij de super vriendelijke garçon hier komen eten en een aanrader. Gereserveerd na een drankje in de namiddag voor twee dagen later. Hij stond ons op te wachten. De gin-tonic was top, de steak perfect. Met mijn allergie werd volledig rekening gehouden. Bij onze koffie kregen we van de garçon nog een paar extra snoepertjes! Echt een aanrader!

Good food, the service was well organized, the same goes for the kitchen. The tables are not too close together, so that table conversations were easy to understand. Cozy atmosphere. Simply great!

Ik heb nog nooit zo n onaardige serveerster gehad. Er was een dame die wat ouder was, die was supervriendelijk. Maar die jongere dame, wat onvriendelijk. We hadden wat te vieren maar ze heeft echt mijn feestvreugde verpest. Ze deed alleen aardig toen we weggingen. Ze zette alles zo op tafel zonder uitleg. Ze liet ook wat vallen, wat niet erg is, maar daardoor werd ze nog chacherijniger. Ze kwam nooit langs, we moesten haar bijna smeken om meer thee. We deden de hightea. Echt zonde. Een vriendin die later was, moest 20 minuten wachten op haar soepje. Er kon nog geen lachje vanaf. Zo jammer. Ik kom hier nooit meer. Ik was al eens eerder geweest. Maar dit was de laatste keer. Deze dame hoort niet in de horeca. Doe dan in ieder geval of je aardig bent. Niks ten nadele van de overige bediening, maar helaas hadden wij haar. Jammer dat ons feestje zo is verpest. Het eten was verder voldoende, maar we moesten zelf uitzoeken wat alles was.

Excellent lunch, quick service.

Had a delicious lunch with a group at Hugo's. Tasty choice of sandwiches, the vegetarian choice is also great. The decoration is attractive, a nice combination of seating for 2 people and longer tables with the option for a group. Toilets were neat and clean. Staff differed, one is professional, the other a less experienced colleague with a somewhat too direct approach. In general, this slows down the assessment somewhat.

I normally come here with great pleasure. In recent weeks I felt like I was eating less. After today it's the final straw. Simple medium rare becomes a well-done piece of meat and the cutlets are very small and extremely dry. The service was very good and they responded to our complaints. This was very nice! Nowadays you pay a lot of money here for poor quality food. I won't eat here again!

Staff were good but the food was the opposite. I had a schnitzel, you expect a schnitzel with a salad and some fries and sauce. But I really only got a schnitzel… plain, without anything added. According to the owner, this must all be ordered additionally. And for those prices… We indicated this and received free coffee as compensation. I'll never go there again.

We ate flammkuchen, which were quite good by German standards. Very friendly staff. We ate outside so other guests had to smoke again, but of course the restaurant can't do anything about that. We will definitely go back there again.

Good menu and excellent service in a nice place in Velp

Received confirmation of reservation 4 days ago, but on the day itself it turned out that it could not go ahead due to the market in the village: they no longer accept reservations. It was very difficult to reserve a table for 4 people. We just had to come and see if there was room. Well not for us again 👋🏼!

Chic appearance, delicious food, service that seems to be very well coordinated. Cheerful and that is quite special these days. We will definitely come back.

A nice, simple brasserie where you can eat at reasonable prices, both dinner and lunch (and even a high tea is possible, but I haven't tried that myself yet). The menu contains many (well-known) choices such as a 12 o'clock, bouncer, cheeseburger, risotto, chicken satay, etc. The portions are more than sufficient. The service is generally excellent, the decor is a bit on the dark side, but in terms of atmosphere I think it is cozy!

Een prijzig Broodje gezond. Het stokbrood is taai. De ham en kaas zijn smakeloos. De rauwkost is rommelig en de tomaten zijn smakeloos. Tot slot: het blijkt nauwelijks te eten omdat het mes niet door dat taaie brood heen komt. Een van de bediende dames vindt het spannend om te zien hoe wij dit gaan verorberen. Tja...😗

It's a great spot. What struck me most is that there were quite a few staff, but we were not really seen. Even though the staff regularly walked by on the terrace, no eye contact was made with the customers, this was literally the case all evening, so we simply chose to call them over and over or walk to the bar. Not super annoying, but noticeable. As soon as we got our attention, the people were really friendly. The food was good. Tasteful!

Los van de schandalige prijzen voor de zeer matige kwaliteit is de bediening echt niet best. Toen ik naar de wc ging een eens goed keek zag ik ook dat de vloer erg vies was en dat was niet van één of twee dagen. Het is zo een Velps terras van zien en gezien worden… veel bejaarde kak dus. Maar als je goede service en een beetje normale prijzen waardeert… heb je hier niets te zoeken.

Delicious dinner with friends from the 70s... and a nice reunion... food was fantastic and the atmosphere was good... highly recommended to take the schnitzel with mushroom sauce... well flavored and wonderfully creamy.

We had a salmon sandwich and a carpaccio sandwich, a very meager sandwich consisting of 1 slice of bread. Price 15.95 very expensive.

I ordered a hot meat sandwich here. This was comparable to that of an average cafeteria, only more than twice as expensive. For that amount I expected a bit more.

Had lunch twice and it was fine. Their combined mini dishes on 1 plate are especially recommended.

Excellent meal after a day of cycling. My husband enjoyed the white asparagus meal and I had chicken souvlaki and small Greek salad. We had the dessert special apple strudel.

Good and decent food. Reasonably priced if you take the before and after, but you don't have to do it every day of course and it also depends on what you order. Portions are large and you certainly won't leave hungry.

A pure gamble to make a reservation here because we don't know Velp. We spend the night at Mr. Pos and it is only a 10-minute walk to this restaurant. Nice place, a good welcome and a varied menu! Good food and excellent service.

25 januari 2024 naar Hugo in Velp geweest om samen met mijn vrouw wat te eten. Bijzonderheden, zoals wij dit hebben ervaren: - We vonden de gehanteerde prijzen fors en komen niet overeen met wat je krijgt. Voorgerecht Gemarineerde tonijn €16,95. Hoofdgerecht Maaltijdsalade caesar. Voldoende gamba's echter veel sla en weinig tomaat, komkommer en andere extra's welke in de salade horen €20,95. Hoofdgerecht Sate voldoende vlees, echter weinig bijgerechten. Ja, veel kroepkoep zuur en pinda's op het bord. Het meest bijzondere vond ik dat €6,15 voor de Verdejo moest betalen, precies aan het streepje op het glas. Ik kijk rond en zie een persoon aan de tafel zitten bij de bar. Met een glas 75% gevuld. Ga dit navragen bij de bediening blijkt dit een andere medewerker te zijn. Toe ik vroeg of deze ook €6,15 voor dit glas moest betalen ging de medewerker lachen!! Niet echt klantvriendelijk. Ons laatste bezoek aan deze zaak!!

Kwamen in Velp voor een lunch bij Brasserie Hugo terrecht. Een gezellige en warme sfeer en ambiance. Maar wat een gastvrijheid, attente en service gerichte medewerkers, chapeau. Top, Top, Top, dit hebben wij al een tijd niet meer zo mee gemaakt. Vriendelijke ontvangst bij de deur, het even, Welkom, benoemen vind ik zo prettig klinken. Prettig en vriendelijk aan tafel, niet amicaal, maar ook niet op afstand. Broodje warmvlees en broodje warmvkees speciaal gegeten, prima van smaak, pindasaus erg lekker, lag naar mijn mening te veel bakvet op mijn bord. Dit werd onder het eten geabsorbeerd door het broodje, heb dit niet gemeld, want andere mensen kunnen dit wel lekker vinden. Hoorde van andere gasten over de beroemde appeltaart, konden de ingrediënten en het maken van de appeltaart op internet vinden, ook leuk. Voor nog een klein gaatje appeltaart met slagroom besteld, het is Dry Januari, dan kan slagroom dus wel. Heerlijke appeltaart en dan de slagroom, de echte dus, lekker stevig, precies wat deze appeltaart verdiend. Al met al, een heerlijk lunch moment gehad en ik wil het nog een keer benoemen, wat een Top bediening, tot de volgende keer. Els en Fred

Delicious dinner at brasserie Hugo's. The staff was very friendly and the food tasty. The layout of the plates was very nice. They had seasonal specials, of which the winter dessert was very tasty. We spent €60 per person for the starter, main course and dessert, 1 glass of wine, 1 soft drink and 1 tea. Excellent price-quality ratio!

Honestly very good brasserie! We were 5, french, one Chef, a bit late, we didn't know where we had to eat in the Netherlands, even more in Velp, but. Our waiter was very friendly, kind and comprehensive. Food was good, not seasonal (but this is Netherlands ahah), cooked right, portions were generous. So thank you it was really nice :)
