Brownies&downieS Haarlem in Oude Stad

First time I went, I got the brownie tasting. The brownies were okay and just what you´d expect of a brownie, the stroopwafel blondie however was fantastic, caramelly delicous! Definitely don't skip their lunch items though. I got the vegan rendang and it looked and tasted like a fancy restaurant meal :) I didn´t love the coffee, but the fact that you get a tiny brownie with your hot beverage is really cute. What I love most about brownies and downies is the small interactions with the servers.

The food is incredibly delicious! The value for money is top-notch, and the staff are incredibly accommodating and friendly.

Lovely lunch here. Beautiful, large space with huge windows to the outside greenery. Exyrnsive menu. Cappuccino came with whipped sweetened cream and a wee cake. Fried egg sandwich was large, on beautiful brown bread, with nice mixed greens with seeds. Ham & cheese toastie was similarly delish. But the best part was the spirit and heart that was so evident in what they do. The staff with Down Syndrome are often helped or coached by the other staff, but there's always time for hugs or silly things. You should stop in!

So pleased I stumbled on this gorgeous café, its ethos is wonderful and backed up by lovely coffee and food. I had a toasted sandwich which was really tasty. Highly recommend 👌

Gorgeous space inside the cafe with the option for seats inside. Great options for iced tea and different coffees, really extensive drinks list with more than the usual coke & sprite etc. the brownies were lovely, fudgey consistency with great options of toppings. Great friendly service & really spacious inside which isn’t common in NL! Would definitely return. We didn’t try any of the savoury food but it looked amazing from what we saw of other peoples meals.

We sat here spontaneously without expectations and we were very satisfied. The service was very friendly and the food was really delicious! Definitely worth repeating. You can also sit outside on the terrace in a very pleasant atmosphere. The Schagchelstraat is cozy and not too busy.

Super cute cafe especially for families. Super delicious food and top service. The brownies are amazing, as is the breakfast, which has something for both classic and unusual breakfast lovers. Highly recommended on your next visit to Haarlem and definitely worth a visit again!

The place is amazing! The employees are Down syndrome people so it makes it even more special and a must to visit. The coffee was great and the Kimchi burger (vegan) was so delicious!

It was very busy this time, we sat near the swinging door that was constantly opening, cold. I recommend that you make a reservation. The staff is very friendly, the prices are reasonable. Lunch was fine.

Food was a bit disappointing, two slices of bread but only carpaccio slices enough for one bread slice.

Friendly staff who helped lift the pushchair up the stairs! Thank you. The food is good and the menu is very large. There is a nice kids corner and seats that are quieter by the window. We booked as a larger group and they were very accommodating.

Very nice tent! Went here for the first time today and it was surprisingly nice. The service was very good and friendly, we were helped quickly. The food was very tasty and the presentation was very nice. The only thing that was a shame (why we gave 4 stars instead of 5) was that in the last 45 minutes no one came to the table to ask if everything was to our liking. We would have liked to try the brownies and order a hot drink! Unfortunately I did not get this opportunity despite the fact that there were only a few tables occupied in the restaurant. Other than that it was a great experience and I would definitely come back!

Beautiful Café... I had the most amazing service. The staff are so friendly and sweet. I love how this place is an example of no matter who you are and what you might have, you can do anything. The food was absolutely amazing and I highly recommend the classic brownies. I hope to come back again someday

I visited this cafe by chance together with my partner. We had two cappuccino, an apple pie and a carrot pie. They were amazing. Moreover the staff was very welcoming and warm. We will visit again next time in Haarlem

You can be sure this is a great spot if you are looking to grab a bite to eat and a drink while your kids play and mix with other kids.

I had a delicious lunch here - the chef’s special pulled mushroom sandwich was really good. Plus, it's cozy and spacious and the staff is welcoming!

Nice place with great looking brownies and lovely staff. Unfortunately, the brownies are not gluten AND lactose free. There is 1 gluten-free brownie and 1 vegan brownie, but not gluten AND lactose free. That's the only downside. Furthermore, a really cozy looking restaurant where you can also have lunch and dinner. And there is a nice play area for the little ones. That's ideal. I would definitely come back here even if I can't eat a brownie or other tasty pastry here ;). Who knows, they may still adjust it.

Great concept. We ordered food and drinks “to go”. We sat for a moment and waited for our order. The staff were very friendly and attentive. It was very comfortable. Everything was super tasty. The brownies are dangerously delicious 😅, super chocolaty and immediately put you in a good mood. Thanks to the team. Recommendation to everyone ☺️. We komen er graag, goede locatie, lieve mensen. De lunchplank viel echter tegen prijs, kwaliteit niet in verhouding, het zag er mooi uit maar 29 euro was het niet waard. En glutenvrij brood was zooo yukkk, dat kan echt beter. Verder blijft het een fijne plek.

It's an excellent restaurant as well as the concept. Even when it comes to tasting the à la carte products, they are excellent! I can therefore only recommend the restaurant which for me is truly perfect. On the plate like the people who serve customers at the table. Friendliness and everything else is there.

Pros: spacious, food is ok for Dutch standards, you do good by eating here. Cons: service and flexibility of staff is very bad. EG. Not possible to book on the same day, not even by phone even if on the website it is stated otherwise. How am I supposed to be able to plan with kids if I cannot be sure to have a place to sit?! I remember sitting down just BEFORE the morning menu time ended and asked if I could have a plate from it but was denied as ‘it was time to switch menu’. All I wanted were 2 eggs. So long for flexibility and service.

Perfect ! It’s beautiful, it’s good! The service is incredible, very nice waitress and waiter, I am won over by the place, frankly it's a hit for me! Atypical place, healthy and gourmet eating, full of flavors, very good cuisine and attractive price for the quality. I recommend +++

An absolute recommendation for families, couples and singles. There is a great play area. The service is absolutely friendly, attentive and accommodating. The drinks and food are simply great. The café is great, the brownies are world class.

A very nice place with many tables available to sit at. The food was good but nothing out of this world for the price. The guys were very friendly but we had to get up to pay after a long wait to be served.

The blondies and cappuccinos are great, and the service and atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The menu is in Dutch but they have a QR code in the menu for an English version.
