The breakfast banana bread was delicious and I loved the warm turmeric, ginger and lemon fresh tea. We sat outside which was very nice.

Whenever we visited Tilburg every now and then, we always went here for coffee. It was always good. Yesterday we were in town again, and we ordered a Flat White and an American. What a disappointment! You burned your palate on the Flat White. Asked for a new one, they made one, but it was still way too hot and tasteless. Didn't finish it. The coffee quality has gone downhill fast. Too bad, that was definitely the last time for us. This review only concerns the coffee.

Always a good spot for lunch. You can also sit with your laptop at the back of the place, while the front area is mostly laptop-free.

It’s always nice to be back here. I remember well the moment the place first opened. There wasn't much on the street where you could get a decent meal and drink. And look at it now. This part of Tilburg is buzzing. You probably encouraged that! Yesterday I had a black coffee and rooibos tea, ate a plain toasted sandwich that was made special by the salad and samba sauce, and was really surprised by the almost lava cake-like pistachio cookie, which was still warm. Incredibly tasty. I’d love to have the recipe for that. I sat at the work table with my dog, who was lying comfortably chill at my feet, surrounded by hungover Best Kept Secret goers, coworkers, and lost tourists. The cheerful colors on the wall cheered me up despite bad news from the hospital, and to this day, I am still savoring the pistachio flavor! It felt like coming home again for a moment. It's suitable for working or studying with a laptop, but you'll need to refill your espresso every hour. The environment is neither quiet nor noisy. You can basically get a single-shot espresso. The food is definitely worth it; I recommend the bagels and croissants 🥯🥐. Every item in the dessert display looks incredibly tempting.

We waited 15 minutes for our order to be taken and then 45 minutes for our food to be delivered. Really regret not leaving before making the order.

Nice spot for breakfast! Plenty of choice, much of it served with fresh fruit. Tasty coffee and specialty teas. Relaxed atmosphere.

I visited today and was a bit disappointed with the overall coffee experience. I ordered a cortado and received it in a paper cup without being asked whether I was staying in or taking it away. For a specialty café, this felt quite off, as drinks like a cortado are really meant to be enjoyed in a proper cup. I was also not asked about coffee preferences, and it seemed like there was only one option available. The coffee itself tasted more on the darker roast side, which didn’t quite match what I would expect from a specialty coffee place. On the positive side, the atmosphere was nice, but I think there is room for improvement in terms of attention to detail and the overall coffee experience. I hope this feedback is helpful, as I was really looking forward to a higher-level specialty coffee experience.

Very nice & customer-friendly little place! With fun menu items, such as a ginger shot (with all sorts of extras) & the snack egg. Amazing! My dog ​​was also welcome, even got a water bowl & she has never sat anywhere so relaxed. And that while it was pleasantly busy. Wow, what a lovely place! We had high tea. Everything was fresh and, above all, delicious. The selection was just a bit different from what you'd expect at a high tea, such as yogurt with granola and fruit—not the standard salmon sandwich, but unique, modern combinations—which made it extra fun. With the tea, they even had fresh mint, ginger, orange, and lemon available. You don't see that very often. Additionally, the staff were very enthusiastic and friendly. All in all, a really nice experience and definitely worth repeating!

What a lovely spot! I unexpectedly went for lunch with a group, and although it seemed full at first, there was plenty of room in the back. The service was smooth and friendly. The atmosphere was nice, the chairs comfortable, but a few flies were a nuisance while we were eating. The menu is extensive, with plenty of options (including vegetarian), and the dishes were delicious. Carefully prepared, and each one was delicious. Definitely a place I'll return to.

What a cozy place, we had breakfast on the terrace (lots of sweet options, also fried eggs, toasted sandwiches etc.) and had a great spot. Inside there are also cozy spots if the weather is not so terrace-proof 🥰 we will be back!

Really by far the best and tastiest place in town 🙌🏻 Nice lunch menu with lots of choice. Homemade ice teas are nice and sweet (but not too sweet). The pastries are delicious and all the food is always made with extra love and extra fruit/vegetables. Very friendly service!

The main area is very spacious and cozy. Unfortunately, it's not ideal if you need to use a laptop, because those seats aren’t available for work. The designated working area lacks the same cozy vibe. I ordered a cappuccino with oat milk, it was slightly sour but still decent. However, I was interrupted several times by staff asking if I wanted to order more, which made it hard to focus on my work. I understand they’re doing their job, but it became distracting. I also asked for water, assuming it would be free, as it is in many places, especially since I had my own. I was surprised when it added to my bill, which made the visit more expensive than I expected. One staff member came across as a bit unfriendly, which didn’t help the overall situation. While I understand they don’t have to be cheerful all the time, customer interaction does affect the experience and impression. Overall, the cafe itself is nice and the drinks are decent, but the service and communication could use some improvement.

I have been to Tilburg for the first time in the past 2 days and I saw via TripAdvisor that Buurtvrij had a good reputation and this morning we were hungry so we walked in and ordered the scones! I'm honest, I had never eaten it before, I have never had such a delicious breakfast anywhere, it was just TOTALLY great💯

The chocolate ball of the place made us reach for a fine coffee break. The service is amazing and very fast. We ordered espresso coffee and cappuccino. With a fine chocolate ball that arrived very quickly. The ball is big. Actually a puff in the form of a ball covered in chocolate. The dough is very thin with an outer layer of chocolate and a very delicious cream filling in the entire ball. It is very beautiful to make it and see the uniformity of the fillings. We had a great time.

We went for brunch at Buutvrij, a place we’ve wished visiting for a long time. The ambience is super cozy and spacious, with plenty of plants adding a fresh, calming touch. Their menu is extensive, offering a great variety of drinks, snacks, and food. The outdoor seating is a lovely option, especially when the sun is shining. While we got seated, we inquired about availability at the back of the café, but the response from the staff lacked warmth. Service, in general, felt a bit rushed and impersonal. For drinks, we ordered green tea and Purple Rain (a blend of beetroot, carrot, and apple). As part of my usual routine, I requested ginger to be added, but I could barely taste it. I tried signaling the server multiple times to check whether it had been added, but it took three attempts before she finally noticed and came over. The club sandwich with pulled chicken and the banana bread with yogurt were both flavorful and well-prepared. While the food was great, there’s definitely room for improvement in service. The staff seemed overworked, and unfortunately, that reflected in their attitude, as they forgot to smile. Buutvrij remains a fantastic spot for brunch, but a more attentive and welcoming approach from the staff would make the experience even better.

First off, the food is very tasty and well presented, if and when you get it... service is chaotic, servers are functioning in a casual half asleep state :( Ordered at 11am, at 11:30am asked if the food was coming, the server had no idea what we even ordered and took the order again, 12:00 our food was being delivered to another table by mistake and then finally making it to us..excuse was a big table that overwhelmed the kitchen, but the 3 tables next to us that came way past our order time were all already eating their delicious meals. This was not our first visit with this type of service here but will be our last.

It was an amazing experience! Me and my mom went here for a high tea, and everything was near to perfection. This is a must-try.

Very good price-quality ratio. Extensive menu with luxurious lunch, breakfast and sweet options, even those you would not normally find on a menu. We had 2 oat cappuccinos, club buut, fryske toast, 1 house soup and a golden milk for just under €50. Atmosphere is very cozy and cozy; very well appointed larger location. Definitely recommended, and would love to come back again!

The place is super cozy and spacey. It's nicely decorated and most of their drinks are great. I really loved the lavander matcha, even thought I accidentally ate a bunch of lavander pieces. The lemonade was disappointing, it was just syrup and water, I wish they had real lemonade. The staff was polite but not that accommodating. Overall it's a really nice place to hang out and relax.

It is very tasty, but sometimes very expensive. Charging €4.60 for a glass of orange juice from the Jumbo press machine is a lot. The food does have better value for money.

I always thought Buutvrij was a nice place to have lunch with friends. This was confirmed once again today when we enjoyed high tea there for the first time. This was reserved by us quite a short time in advance, but completely according to your wishes, with vegetarian options. The concept is many small portions (savory and sweet), so it felt a bit like a tasting, which I thought was ideal and well varied. The service is very friendly and not overly present, but careful attention was paid to whether there was enough hot water for tea on the table. Definitely recommended! 💗

Gezellig plek om te lunchen. Het eten is heerlijk en het personeel is vriendelijk. Ze denken met je mee. Ik wilde namelijk een tonic en dit stond niet op de menukaart (oeps zelf niet goed gekeken.) Er werd mij de Fritz-Limo Lemon aangeraden. Ik laat we graag verrassen en dit drankje was erg lekker. Als eten had ik de Club Buut. Goed belegd desembrood. Ook de rest van het gezelschap heeft hier heerlijk gezetten en gegeten. De eerste keer hier maar zeker niet de laatste keer! Aanrader.

Nice tent! However, it always takes a very long time before your order is taken and your order arrives at the table, so if you want to quickly eat/drink something I wouldn't recommend it.

The atmosphere of the place was really nice, to study, to hang out with friends, to just read a book. Food was delicious although open sandwiches are not my thing. I wish there was an option to just have it like a normal sandwich. I'd still recommend the place tho.
