This was hands down the best bar experience we have had in Europe thus far. Stunning building with lots of history, you have to wonder who’s been here before in its time! It also survived the 1940 bombing and has had lots of intricate interior and painting put in. The building is neat and very cool to appreciate the history. The bartender was so very friendly! He was sharing photos, books and info about the bar and history as well as things that have been restored! He was very kind and made the experience more special. This is a must visit place! They do have food but kitchen is only certain days and times!

One of the oldest pubs in Rotterdam, it is a museum in itself, good music instead of the crap you hear on the radio now. So for the 40+ to listen too

A lovely brown cafe, with lots of special beers. Don't forget to taste the Kasteel Chocolat infused, only in magnum size...yum

Nice café, it is definitely recommended, Delfshaven is a very beautiful area. They sell different types of beer here, such as pilsner from Heineken weizen, such as Erdinger Man and a blond beer from Affligem, for example. You can also order food here, such as a snack garnish.

Attractive terrace at one of the most beautiful locations in Rotterdam. Authentic brown café with 3D plaster images on the wall, which resemble wood carvings.

Not much has changed in the 35 years since my first visit in 1989. And that's a good thing. Visited again after about 30 years and it was still very pleasant to drink beer here with friends. Even on a Tuesday evening it was quite full.

You just really like sitting here. Before you go to the Castle, for example. The first spring Sunday of 2025.

Very adorable place the view is amazing. I was there twice, first day to grab a beer, second for coffee. First service (Young guy, longer hair) awesome, but when I back next day the bartender was so mean... We got coffee in dirty cups. If I will back for the view, I order something in a bottle.

Cute little pub with a nice amount of people during the weekend afternoon. Drinks and food are not too expensive too.

Perfect during summer days, if not too busy.

Super lunch...12 noon and chose satay. It was delicious... everything made from scratch... and with care! Everything tastes good...very good taste even. The prices are also extremely tasteful😉. Finding this location on a Sunday afternoon in October.....where the red geraniums are still blooming outside.....and the beer is foaming profusely inside.....a view of the water....how good life can be are! Thank you gentlemen for today's experience!

A nice terrace overlooking the water, a large selection of good beer. It's a shame that you have to walk inside every time you want to order something or pay for it, the terrace was not properly monitored.

Remains a beautiful location. Very tasty lunch of the week: salad with melon and serrano ham.

Beautiful classic café, delicious selection of specialty beers and you can sit beautifully on the water! Sometimes a bit noisy inside, but that's normal for a pub.

If you’re looking for a place to do a typical dutch drink. This is your place to be! It’s not too fancy (what I like) and has a great brown café vibe. That’s a dutch expression, which believe me, you’ll get the moment you walk in the door.

All Trappist beers available, as well as an extensive beer list and range on tap. Cozy location overlooking the old harbour.

Lovely local bar in the oldest part of Rotterdam. They have a huge selection of beers on tap and in bottles. Highly recommended on a sunny day when you can sit outside with a view of the canal!

Great traditional bar with a lovely view on Delfshaven. They outside and inside terraces. Snacks are very tasty, the beer selection is big and the prices are very convenient.

We had some remaining snacks available after a very busy day for the bar. The bitterballen were exceptional. Hubby and I both agreed that better placement of the geranium flower boxes would enhance our views,, a nice place, ladies be careful of the steep stairs down to the loo🙏

Nos detuvimos en este café (pub) ya que tenía la mejor vista justo por el sluis (canal). Acabamos de tomar algunos aperitivos calientes y cervezas (ambos muy buenos) y nos sentamos en el pequeño jardín ya que era un buen día. Muy agradable de hecho. Relajado y sin prisas.

Great bruin cafe in an even better location.

We went there for the celebration of my partner’s name day in Greece, and what I like on this bar is the aesthetic building and interior where you can feel and see that the building is old but still beautiful with these wooden art frames on the walls. Cool people are there mix of old and young. The Asian bar man is friendly. This place is quite good to chill with friend and I think especially when it is sunny.

Been here many times over the years, always a nice place to sit and have a beer and something to eat.

Tuna Melt sandwich without any fuss. Price/quality ratio of the lunch was excellent.

A neat little place tucked on the side of the canal with both indoor and outdoor seating. If you’re lucky you could also find an indoor table on the side of the bar overlooking the canal. They have a good range of beers on tap. The beers on tap keep changing. They also do coffee and food if you’re looking for a spot in the area. The bartender is really helpful and helps you pick what you want to drink. Also available is Rotterdam cheese and sausage that pairs nicely with the beer.

If not everyone immediately turns this into their own pub, that's great, but it is really great here, cozy and full of atmosphere.

Always fun here :) Often play a game (they have a games cabinet) here with a nice beer! View is very beautiful, especially in the evening.

Sunday January 21: reserved for a high wine at Wapen van Delfshaven, Toko closed! :-( Then we moved to Café Oude Sluis. What a nice, cozy, old-fashioned old brown café in a beautiful place. Pleasant bartenders. Nice regulars. Started with a sweet white wine, then a rosé and then moved on to the rosé beers. One of the rosé beers was really bad, the owner said: give me this one and order another one. Then I will take it off the account. Great nets :-) While enjoying a bread board and a luxurious board with a snack to finish. A pub as a pub should be. We will definitely come back here again, we from South!

Fantastic cafe with many types of delicious beer and, to top it all off, a bartender who knows the trade down to the last detail. Go here.

A nice and authentic picturesque place overlooking the canal, has a great view on delftshafen.

Had a nice coffee in café de Oude Sluis in Delfshaven, Rotterdam. Cozy and attractive café with a view of the bridge and the water. Nice to warm up when it is cold and windy outside. When we are back in Delfshaven we will definitely visit again. You understand.

If you've read any of my other reviews, you'll know I usually try to seek out a decent beer wherever I go. After visiting a local windmill (well, it is The Netherlands, after all!) the curator there recommended Café de Oude Sluis as THE place to get a decent selection of local beers. He was right! Whilst we didn't have a lot of time to relax into the ambience, I had an amazing Trippel whilst my partner had a tasty Kriek. Now, this might not sound very exciting, but this was the FIRST EVER BEER my partner had both selected and - more importantly - enjoyed. As the owner quipped: "You say you don't like beer, I will find you a beer you will like", and lo it came to pass. I have no idea what the food is like that give this bar it's "Café" epithet, but I can certainly recommend it for the beer selection and quality, the friendly and knowledgeable owner, and for what feels like (to a tourist) a 'proper' local bar. Really glad I made the trek from Rotterdam central to get here.

Right in Historisch Delfshaven this café has a nice selection of beers to choose from. There is a charming view of the Oude Sluis (old lock) from the back seating area and patio (open weather permitting.

Sipping a beer and eating bitterballen while listening and talking to native Rotterdammers. Life can be so great, honest and funny in just one place.

I had the spicy chicken sandwich and it was so yummy, I'd easily been able to eat a second. Price was reasonable as well. Staff were friendly and spoke english which was helpful for me. I'd go again.

Good prices. Great view of the canal. Great choice of beers and beverages. Not a lot of choices of things to eat. Table staff is not really friendly, while polite, the maid was as serious as a car crash.

Historisch plekje. Perfect om zitten met mooi weer! Uitgebreide bier kaart met veel verschillende speciaal bieren. De olijven zijn een aanrader. Leuke ober met veel kennis over de producten en een gezellige babbel. Overal een gezellige sfeer op het terras

Wat een fantastisch plek en een prachtig uitzicht over de grachtjes van Delfshaven. Leuke bruine kroeg met een goede bierkaart. En voor Brandbier op de tap, krijg je van mij sowieso bonuspunten. Goeie sfeer, authentiek interieur, vriendelijk personeel en ook nog vers bereide broodjes. Maar het terras in de zon aan het water is in dit geval toch wel echt de kers op de taart…

Briljante kroeg, zo lekker als er ergens geen toeristen komen en ze kunnen draaien op locals (en een enkele Amsterdammer🤭🤭) kom hier altijd terug

Beste kroeg in Nederland. Alle trappistenbier van de wereld kun je hier drinken. Altijd een relaxte sfeer, met lekker weer kun je genieten op het terras.
