Bartender was incredibly friendly and helpful - we got a local history lesson and many local food and drink recommendations. Highly recommend!

We were at the bar 7th of August approx. 16-18 and ordered long island ice iteas. At some point we jokingly ordered the drink with less ice and more alkohol. From that point on the bar keeper was snippy and stated that he didn't understand our joke and was very unfriendly in our opinion. When we went to pay he stated that it was very good for him (we believe: "that we left"). We are a quiet couple of guys, not loud or unseemly...we may look touristy...but we're not dumb. Good Ambiente and fine facilities. The bar keeper needs to get his preconceptions in order.

Just arrived in Amsterdam and stopped at Cafe The Barrel. I had the best Espresso Martini in the world. David (pictured in the middle) was our bartender, and he was fantastic. Not only is he a master at mixing drinks, but he was also incredibly friendly and gave us some great local recommendations. A perfect start to the trip!

We had an amazing time - dropped by as we were walking down the street and probably had the best Aperol ever. Really nice couple and a lots of laughs. Can recommend 100%

I don't recommend it, the coffee is strong and hard, the chocolate more or less. Basic the place.

Stumbled upon this on my way home, was attracted by the nice people smoking outside and the ambient lighting. Inside it’s a simple Grolsch-dominated menu of beer, plus a good spirits selection. The beer is kept very well, and the service from David and the team was lovely. The music is fun, the veranda is cosy, and the fruit machines are enticing. Open until 1am, I’ll be back again. (I didn’t have the food but it’s probably as perfect as the rest).

A Wednesday night, so totally dead. Drinks itself were fine, but bartender - despite the menu inviting patrons to order off menu for cocktails - was not able to mix those requests. Might be better with different staff and on a busier night.

Recently I visited the barrel and it was an amazing experience! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for a night out with friends. The staff were friendly and attentive which made it even more enjoyable. The drinks were excellent, with a wide range of cocktails and specialty beers to choose from. I especially enjoyed pineapple martini which was a real highlight. All in all a fantastic place that I definitely recommend for anyone looking for a fun night out!

I had a great time at Café de Barrel, partly thanks to the top service from bartender David! From the moment I walked in I felt welcome. David was friendly, attentive and super helpful. He was very knowledgeable about the different drinks on the menu and was willing to create something special based on my taste. Truly a hidden gem in the chaos of the center!

Second time ín Amsterdam ín 5 years, if I knew this place existed it would have been my 10th visit ín the same Time. It is that good, really friendly staff, good prices, open ín impossible hours.

Made some amazing shots for us and was very attentive and the service had been amazing. Even gave us some extra shots at no extra price. Really worth a visit. Would recommend 10/10

A hidden gem off the side street in Dam Square. We went back every day. David the owner and Alex are total gentlemen and make you feel welcome from the moment you set foot inside the door. This is a hidden gem in Amsterdam. Amidst the bustling city, it's challenging to find spots that aren't overcrowded—this bar is one of them. It was pleasantly uncrowded, the waiter provided excellent service, engaging in lively conversation with us, and we had a fantastic time. The highlight was a special pineapple cocktail with a passion fruit twist, which was absolutely delicious.

The cafe organizes workshops on making dutch syrup waffles. Lovely atmosphere, great owner and wonderful experience! I recommend!🤝

I’m a regular visitor to Amsterdam on business, I was busy on the first day of my visit but went to Cafe The Barrel every day aft er ! . I’ve been many times to the Barrel and this visit didn’t disappoint ! A great bar in Dam & and never fails to make my stay perfect. The owner David remembered my name which is a fantastic personal touch , and as always I had a great time at cheaper prices than Dan square. Thanks again ! See you next time out
