Cafetaria Brasserie de veerpoort in Wijk 12 Schoonhoven

According to the waitress, we were sitting in the wrong spot; they make a distinction here between the terrace in front of the restaurant and the snack bar. But we look for a spot to sit out of the wind. And there wasn't a soul on the terrace. We had to take the coffee with us too, because they don't deliver to the snack bar section. How difficult can you make things? A couple who came after us had to move.

Good food, good service, friendly staff. Located in a beautiful spot right by the water. Nice terrace, good menu with plenty of choices. We happened to pass by on the motorbike. So we had a nice meal and a drink there; it was great! The weather was nice, so we enjoyed sitting on the terrace in the sun. Top location, so we will definitely be back!

Ordered 2 portions of fries, 1 croquette sandwich, 1 frikandel sandwich with mayonnaise, and 1 cola. The fries were brown and so hard you'd break your teeth. There was no mayonnaise on the frikandel sandwich. They'd forgotten the cola. Really bad. I used to go there often, but not this bad anymore. I returned the 2 portions of fries. She took them, threw them away. I told someone in the back of the shop, and they were laughing. Unbelievable.

Nice cafeteria with good food and a great view. Great for dinner, even with kids.

The fries had a nasty oily taste and you could barely taste the potato. The frikandel speciaal had no curry sauce and the meat had a distinct taste. The peanut sauce was jazzed up with lemongrass flavor; it was not tasty and inappropriate. The kibbeling was a mixture of old and fresher fish, unevenly seasoned. Not tasty.

When the weather is nice, you can sit outside here wonderfully on the terrace by the water.

Cozy restaurant with friendly and excellent service, always a lively atmosphere on the water and next to the impressive historic gate, parking right next door or about 200 meters further down in the public parking lot.

We stopped here for lunch with my son during a break on a long bike ride. I was allowed to charge my bike battery here. The staff was very friendly. Definitely recommended!

I have been coming here for years. Nice products, friendly service. The only downside is limited parking. But that is due to the municipality of Schoonhoven.

Steak at De Veerpoort was excellent again. Also got another delicious soft ice cream.

Had fries with fish. Fries okay. Fish was extremely greasy. Only ate the inside of the fried fish. Quite an expensive fish like that... Perhaps the oil was left on for too long. When we reported it, we received a meager apology. A shame. They won't be seeing us there again.

It is messy and dirty in and around the terrace. Trash cans are overflowing. There was an excessive amount of salt on the fries.

We were out of luck this time! After a long wait and it was busy, we received our fries (overcooked) and 2 lukewarm meatballs. It was too busy to complain, so we reluctantly made the best of it. Next time, we'll be looking for something else.

You order to get food at a specific time, and they are fifteen minutes late. When we get home, part of the order is missing. We sent a message about it but received no response. There wasn't time to get the rest ourselves, and that would probably have taken too long anyway. We'll just go get fries elsewhere again. In the meantime, we did get the money back for the undelivered snacks. That is decent, at least.

It is funny that you call directly to place an order and a youngster answers the phone who can't take an order. The food is quite tasty for a snack bar. You actually expect more from a cafeteria. Sauce on a hamburger, for example, is not standard and you have to ask for it, which costs extra and feels a bit like a rip-off. Also, the way a hamburger is put together. Not the sauce first, lettuce, and then the burger…. It could be clearer, tastier, and more professional.

The food was delicious. Received dirty glasses, drinks with strange white pieces in them. Received the wrong dish. Several people who came in after us and ordered after us received their food much earlier. The wait staff gave us the main course and said they would bring our fries afterwards. Unfortunately, all three of us had already finished the main course and had to ask for the fries. A pity.

This charming and cozy brasserie is located right next to the Schoonhoven ferry on the Lek River. De Veerpoort has been in new hands for some time now, and the friendly and attentive waitress told us that the new owner has invested in the interior. It looks great, and from the conservatory, you can enjoy the view of the Lek River and the ferry sailing back and forth. We were there for lunch, and the carpaccio sandwich and "Loaded fries stew" (you need a substantial appetite for this, as you get a generous portion) were delicious. The prices are reasonable, staying under €35, including drinks.

Superb food. Not cheap, but worth it. Soup and dessert all wonderful. Wished we were hungrier! So much better than expected in such a location. Waitress fine, just she forgot us once.

Actually, they were really delicious fries, but the last two times I put way TOO MUCH salt on them. And I do like them a little salty. 🙈 But this is just a waste!

The business was closing for a private event, but this wasn't communicated in any way. So you can't assume it's open based on the opening hours.

Last Saturday, we wanted to have lunch at the ferry. It took a very long time for the waitresses to come and ask what we wanted to drink. We looked at the lunch menu and asked for an explanation of the dishes. The chef was asked. After the answer, however, they let us sit without coming back. Meanwhile, a gentleman behind us, who had arrived later, got his drinks and food faster, even though we still hadn't been asked if we wanted to order. We consider this a form of service that is absolutely unacceptable. Moreover, we noticed that the waitresses were more busy on their phones and chatting among themselves than with the guests. This is a reason for us not to return.

Ordered a beer with a glass in it, and then waited an hour for a portion of kibbeling... what a disgrace.

Amazing atmosphere, nature, lovely staff, delicious food. We as group of 8 cyclists stopped for coffee break on our to Amsterdam. We were cycling London to Amsterdam charity ride.

Friendly staff, apparently too few people in the kitchen. We waited 40 minutes after asking twice for a beer. The beer was taken off the bill, which was great. The location is good. The staff is friendly. A nice place to have a drink or a meal, even if you're passing through by bike or motorcycle. Always a pleasant experience. Worth a visit.

What poor milkshakes! Only 75% full, so especially with the small version, you only get three sips. At least fill it up properly for that price...because it's definitely not cheap!

Top location, top decor, top food... and tons of patience required. The restaurant is in a perfect spot and looks like an interior design blog had a photoshoot there. The food, well, nothing to complain about. The service seemed a bit probationary (or maybe they were just starting out), because everything took about twice as long as usual. Luckily, we had time... and were hungry.

The lady wouldn't serve us fries because the kitchen was too busy. We waited a very long time for service, and finally we had to approach the waiter ourselves to be served. It was a terrible situation. I don't recommend it.

If I came in the morning, I might have gotten my order in the evening, period, it's so slow that I had to order it myself, and after ordering, I wait and wait and wait and wait.

Eten is duur, hamburger of kibbeling met friet in restaurant voor €20,- Service slecht, bestellingen worden niet in de keuken opgepakt. Bij navraag worst verteld dat het ‘systeem’ het niet doet. Uiteindelijk de bestelling op tafel. Friet wordt 10 minuten later op tafel gezet. Eten is goed. Bediening staat met elkaar te kletsen en laat klanten wachten. Geen interactie met klanten aan de tafels. Lege glazen blijven leeg en na het hoofdmenu geen kaart voor dessert. Thuis maar een bak koffie en daarna zelf een ijsje van de supermarkt. De Brasserie is fors achteruit gegaan na het vertrek van eigenaar Leon Moor. Heel jammer!

The pastries are unfortunately not fresh every day, at least the ones I had were a few days old. Hopefully fresh pastries next time. The service is excellent and there is a nice atmosphere.
