It was so great that we were able to reschedule our cinema tickets! We were an hour late... And we were helped in a super friendly and flexible way! Fantastic! And what a lovely space to relax in before or after the movie. Great atmosphere!

Friendly staff, helpful with a touch of humor. The food was good value for the price. Delicious steak tartare that was beautifully presented. One major drawback is the chairs, which can be described as spartan. Shallow, very upright seating, and lacking comfort. A grand café is allowed to have comfortable chairs these days.

I live in Dordrecht and I think De Witt is absolutely fantastic. As far as I'm concerned, it is one of the coolest locations in the city: a cozy cinema, a beautiful terrace and garden, and an amazing interior. That is precisely why I find it such a shame that I visit much less often than I would like. After yesterday, I decided—after years of expressing my frustration verbally—to finally write a review. Because, to be honest, nothing seems to be changing. The service in the restaurant is truly appalling. And that is exactly the reason why we visit so infrequently. You are not seen. Or perhaps better said: no one pays attention to you. Staff members stand around talking to each other, orders are subsequently taken incorrectly, and when you are finally served, it often feels like you should be grateful that anyone even comes to your table at all. And the striking thing is: when I read the other reviews, they remarkably often concern exactly the same problem: the staff and the service. Dear Dennis and Geert, isn't it about time you really did something about this? Yesterday we arrived and it was incredibly quiet. Outside, almost all the tables were filled with dirty dishes, while no one was sitting at them. Not exactly an inviting sight. We sat down and waited. No one came to greet us. I work in the hospitality industry myself, and I understand very well that sometimes it gets busy and you can't be at every table immediately. But then one simple sentence is enough: “I’ll be with you in a moment!” Then, as a guest, you at least know you’ve been seen. But even that didn't happen. After waiting for about fifteen minutes, while we saw staff inside sitting at the bar laughing and talking, someone finally came outside. To our surprise, she then walked over to a table where guests were already sitting who had by then been served a drink, and started talking to them at length. We thought: okay, another five minutes then. But she just kept talking. Meanwhile, the other tables were still full of dirty dishes, we were sitting there waiting, and guests kept coming in and sitting down at a table. Surely this just isn't acceptable anymore? And the frustrating thing is that we have pointed this out several times already: “It was really great, but it took a really long time.” You keep mentioning it, hoping that something will be done about it. But apparently not. I think that is a terrible shame, because this place has everything it takes to be full every day. The location is amazing, the atmosphere is good, and as far as I’m concerned, De Witt has enormous potential. But by now, the word is spreading throughout Dordrecht: “Nice place, bad service.” And that is a terrible shame. So Dennis and Geert: please do something about this. Not just with this review, but especially with the recurring problem that is mentioned in so many reviews. Because in my opinion, De Witt deserves much better than this — and as a customer, I would love to come here much more often.

Peculiar owners, and when I asked questions they became irritated and started acting condescendingly. Is this how they run a business? Good movie choices, but that's about it. I noticed the staff also got nervous when I asked for the boss. Very strange atmosphere. I won't be coming back with my family.

After a disappointing experience during last year's Easter brunch, I decided to give De Witt a second chance. But unfortunately, that turned out to be a mistake. I ordered the dessert with strawberries, biscuit, and meringue. Upon serving, it turned out to be a plate with 6 pieces of strawberry, melted goo, and an extremely chewy, stale-tasting kind of cake. When I politely pointed this out to the wait staff, they immediately went on the defensive and started arguing with me that the white liquid goo was "definitely meringue." My girlfriend looked up what meringue is: 'Meringue is a sweet foam pastry made from stiffly beaten egg whites and sugar. The mixture is slowly dried in the oven, creating small, crispy meringues.' Well, believe me, this didn't resemble it in the slightest. I was offered the option to choose something else, whereupon I eventually went for the apple pie (the crème brûlée was sold out). When I asked what my order cost at checkout, the bill turned out to be unreasonably high (€12.95 for tea and apple pie). I asked what the apple pie had cost. The waitress coldly stated that they had charged for the originally more expensive dessert, because "tastes differ and this is how we make it here." If this is the policy, then mention it immediately when I order a replacement dish and don't secretly charge the most expensive option afterwards for food that went straight back. Only after I refused to pay and indicated that she had to take it to the manager was the bill corrected. The waitress became irritated and we clearly felt her discomfort. We remained calm and polite, but clearly indicated that the way this is being handled is really not right. I won't be coming back here; it's a shame because the location is very nice.

Relaxed atmosphere on a beautiful terrace

Yesterday evening at 6 pm, I went for dinner at De Witt with a couple of friends. A very pleasant experience. We sat comfortably inside (the outdoor terrace is large but I personally found it less cozy), and the interior is original without frills. It is certainly worth taking a look around the rest of the dining area, going to the back and upstairs. Friendly and correct service, the food was delicious, definitely worth the price. Skate wing, short rib, and chicken satay; everything was equally tasty. And the chocolate sauce in the Dame Blanche was pure bliss.

Disappointing experience from beginning to end — a perfect example of how not to treat customers. I ordered two oysters, but nobody ever explained what “Lima #3” on the menu meant. Later, the waiter told me that not many people are interested in this size. If that is true, shouldn’t customers be informed before ordering? The oysters arrived smaller than the lemon pieces served next to them, which was quite an impressive surprise considering the price. One of them even had an unpleasant smell. I had not eaten them and politely asked if I could change them to another dish, but the answer was simply: “No, it’s already served on your table.” Apparently, once something touches the table, customer choice and reasonable solutions no longer matter. The experience continued at payment. I was charged an extra fee by card without any prior notice. This didn’t happen in all the shop I went in Dordrecht. When I questioned it, the staff said it was “just an extra charge.” No explanation before payment, no apology afterwards. When I asked to cancel the payment and pay another way, I was told it was impossible. Interestingly, after I insisted on speaking with the manager, the “impossible” suddenly became possible and the extra fee was returned in cash. The problem was never the money. It was the lack of transparency, the unwillingness to solve problems, and the attitude towards customers.

We had a delicious meal with our family and extended family. For starters, we had various small dishes that we shared. Surprising flavors! The main courses were delicious; the meat was wonderfully tender. Good service and we didn't have to wait long.

Great place, cozy terrace. Just a shame that the staff rushes you out after the movie. She explained it herself: we are allowed to close when the last guests have left. But if a movie is still playing, surely the last guests haven't left yet?!? At 11:15 PM on Saturday, they could barely manage to get one round. Very inhospitable.

Had a great meal and fast service. Personally, we find 22 euros for a hamburger with fries a bit on the pricey side, but the quality was good! Modern eatery with a spacious terrace.

The place is excellent. Fiep is a rarity in the world of waitressing. When I was feeling down, she acknowledged me. We will definitely be back! Provided Fiep is behind the bar.

Nice arthouse cinema where you can also enjoy good food. It has a cozy atmosphere and the staff is friendly.

Unfortunately, the staff was completely inadequate and unprofessional. I received the wrong order, while my party was already able to start eating. The staff started arguing, which is unacceptable to me, as they could have noted my order down correctly again. The staff lost their patience with me, causing a flood of tears. It took 25 minutes before I finally received my order, which was now delivered correctly, while in the meantime the table for my party was already being cleared. Not a single word of apology or leniency. Naturally, I refused what was brought to me. The rosé at €7.25 was elegant, however. It is a great pity, but for me and my party, this unpleasant experience, through no fault of my own, is a reason not to come here again, as the staff really does not know what they are doing. It is a shame, and my advice is therefore: invest in your staff and teach them manners and customer friendliness, and how to resolve a wrongly delivered order in the customer's favor in a classy manner, rather than in a snack bar way! Of course, it should not be the case that a customer has to be grateful for being helped, and unfortunately, that is the prevailing attitude.

It is a good place to hang out.

We did not feel welcome. We felt very uncomfortable. At first, we were ignored. As if it was all too much. Due to a party, our residents were allowed to go to the movies for free. Fortunately, the residents didn't notice anything. The younger staff member was friendly, but the older lady came across as uninterested, as if it was all too much for her.

First of all, the waitress was unfriendly, she refused to read the menu, and the food was also delivered incorrectly. A positive aspect is the atmosphere, nice Dordrecht vibe, this place is NOT recommended!!!

Nice place and cozy, the latter depending on who's working... I noticed two women getting irritated quickly by questions and such, and they let it show, which is a real shame. I keep seeing movies there... great, drinks: No way...

Beautiful cinema in the old center of Dordrecht with good coffee and always a good film selection

Thanks to the Dordtpas, I could see the film for free. At the entrance, I was greeted by attentive staff, and despite the early hour, the bar was already very inviting. A unique experience: I had the entire theater to myself. It's a charming old building with old-fashioned staircases where it's easy to get lost. The place was meticulously cleaned, and the unique layout makes it a truly charming place. Highly recommended!

What a lovely little place! Sometimes when it's busier, the service is a bit less than stellar. The food is excellent! I mainly come here on oyster Sundays.

Had lunch this afternoon with my daughter and friend. It was really nice. It's a nice place, but the service is really poor. Understaffed, too. I had a small dish. Well, it was really small, and there was no bread or anything with it. Oh yeah, German tartare. It was tasty, but feel free to order fries with it. I skipped the coffee. There was no service.

Yesterday, we had a delicious meal with our DrechtStadLoop team. A 9-course meal with delicious small dishes. It was great to try so many different things. The chef was very accommodating to my allergies, which I had previously disclosed. Friendly service.

We just had a drink here and went to the movies. Nice location, too bad the ladies' restroom is on the second floor...

Tonight we had a lovely and delicious evening with our family. We received a friendly welcome and the service was excellent. The food was good; the children received a generous plate of tasty chicken pieces and fries. It was great that there were some fun games for the kids to play. Definitely recommended. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great where we were, otherwise you could definitely sit outside.

We didn’t eat there. Just went to the cinema. Ticket people were nice. There was only one more couple in the cinema and we were grateful it was running!

Super friendly staff, great help, very nice to get there

Nice old cinema with a neat option for lunch.

Today nice on the terrace 2 x veal ribeye Ordered, and a few drinks, drinks were fine, fries too but the veal ribeye was not to get through, so stopped after 2 bites. Complaint would be passed on to the kitchen and then it stops no further response at all. Paid 68 euros for some drinks and a very small box of fries. Bad business.

A hand-picked film program outside the mainstream, preceded or followed by a meal from the equally excellent kitchen, with dishes that are both a feast for the eyes and the palate. A spacious retreat, even under the trees in the garden in good weather, right in the heart of Dordrecht.

Well done in terms of relaxation, good food and friendliness

We arrived well before the film for a main course and dessert. After our first drink and bread beforehand, we waited a long time. The staff did not make eye contact, they mainly stood behind the bar and hardly walked around. Finally managed to catch the eye of an employee who was sitting at the bar talking to the employee behind the bar. After taking the main course, we waited a long time for the food, then started contacting the service again. The annoyance grew... not being able to order a drink, let alone dessert. Finally we got up to ask for the bill at the bar. We had barely an hour and a half before dinner. The result: A little bread, a main course, NO dessert, NO coffee. One drink. I communicated this in a friendly manner to the waitress at checkout. It couldn't have been busy. The place was not even half full. This makes it absolutely impossible for us to repeat this. Although we regularly visit De Witt for a movie!

The fried prawns were well done. The metze with salmon was tasteless. Floated in a watery substance with lots of mayo. With the salad, the olive oil sloshed through the bowl, so everything had one taste. The bread was rock hard and the accompanying spreads seemed to come straight from a jar. I have the impression that the chef has never tasted it himself and puts everything together from a piece of paper, maybe I should take a cooking lesson again. It's a shame, because the location and the cinema are really nice.

I love this cinema, the retro style, the calm and relaxing atmosphere. We usually go there on Thursday afternoon/evening, we always buy tickets including a drink; the last time before the performance we also ordered some food, which was very tasty. If you like an old-fashioned cinema, where you can relax, have a drink and a good meal before or after the show, then we definitely recommend this cinema.

Restaurant and cinema in an attractive environment. Had a great evening. First delicious meal, with excellent wine. Then we watched a movie in the Cinema Lounge, a homely atmosphere with a large screen and lovely sofas. Had a great evening.

Had to wait half an hour, on the terrace, still nothing on the coffee order. When I asked I got the response that something had gone wrong... further no understanding or apology. Very unfortunate that there is little attention for the customer.

Beautiful location, attractive terrace, friendly atmosphere (Ellie), a little more attention and creativity for the food would complete it, nice place in Dordecht, quickly try it out in the sun.

De Witt is a wonderful place for young and old. Mighty beautiful old-fashioned movie house in the center of a wonderful city, run with a modern flair of professionalism. My entourage and I really enjoy coming there!

Friendly restaurant settled in a centuries-old building that was successfully retrofitted to reflect art-deco style. The building also houses a small cinema and the restaurant can cater to your movie’s starting time. The menu is compact, but worthwhile. Service with a smile and proper attention.

The brunch consists of a glass of orange juice, soup (was cold), bread, salmon, cheese, jam and an egg. Costs 19.50. If you eat gluten-free (call in advance) and vegetarian or vegan, then it is sandwiches (baked in the same oven as other bread) and only jam, because that is brunch. Soup was not sure if gluten free. And it is not possible to deviate from that menu. It was compensated with a bottle of wine, but I would have preferred to just have a nice brunch for 19.50. Shame.

Delicious food, called in advance and indicated a gluten allergy. Skillfully received and explained what is and is not possible, also with regard to things from the chip shop. Tables are very close together and it was busy so we had to wait a while for the bill. That was a bit inconvenient because we also had to go to the movie, but we just walked to the bar and then it was sorted in no time

Fantastic place to go to the movies! Still that nostalgic, cozy movie house feeling and not so massive. Sweet n salty popcorn was also very tasty :)

Unfortunately, we have had a very negative experience here with dealing with allergens. The allergen menu is inadequate: fries from a non-gluten-free chip shop, for example, are listed as gluten-free and are simply served with a gluten-free meal. It can happen that something goes wrong. But we found the way this was handled very annoying and also very surprising. Unfortunately, no response was received to an email I sent about this. We won't come here again, even though I think it's a super nice place. In my opinion, this restaurant is not suitable for people with food allergies.

I went to the movies here. The cash register is very inconvenient when it's busy, because the queue is already outside with 8 people waiting in front of you. I was in room 1, great room. Toilets neat and clean.

The atmosphere here is great, but the service is poor. Tried to eat here today, but the service didn't come, asked for service several times, with the answer "I'll be right there"; not so. Waited an hour and couldn't even order a drink.

It has become really beautiful since the renovation. I haven't eaten here yet, so I'll try that next time. Menu card looks good. The only downside is the mixed toilet. I don't need to see a dick with all those urinals.

Good food... Had to wait a bit long for food so we couldn't drink coffee anymore because we wanted to be in the cinema on time...

Went to the De Witt film theater yesterday. It was a while ago for me, but now I understand why I like it so much. Saw a wonderful film, had a delicious cappuccino beforehand, which you can simply take into the hall. The chairs are comfortable, and the sound is not loud ~ in short, an ideal opportunity for an afternoon of me-time

Had a wonderful evening. Very nice terrace under the trees, tasty dishes and good friendly service. Only downside: a sticky table and chair. But that did not detract from the pleasant atmosphere.

Staff friendly, food good and more than enough. Just don't take a cinema and dinner package for €30! Many dishes are priced below €20, which means you would pay too much for a package deal. We pointed this out to the staff and, exceptionally, received a free drink. Of course, the staff must keep an eye on this themselves and, as a courtesy, top up the amount spent with a drink or refund the amount! Also plan your reserved time carefully, otherwise you will miss dessert when the film starts. The food is very good but the time between ordering and serving is too long.

I decided to go here for my birthday, because the map was nice and I think the surroundings turned out beautiful. The service was very good; attentive, smooth and friendly. And that is so important, because that also makes you want to come back. We had both mezzes and 'real' starters, everything was equally delicious! Nice tableware too. All main courses were delicious, corvina delicious! The specials are also great. The burger eaters were also extremely satisfied, at most their small plate made it a bit challenging not to lose anything along the way. Desserts were no longer possible, too saturated, that will come another time. The De Witt beer on tap, super tasty. Crémant, it was my birthday after all, also wonderful. In short, the drinks menu is also excellent. Go enjoy it!

What a nice atmosphere here, terrace in a beautiful garden. Beautiful surroundings. Surprisingly nice choice for lunch. Sympathetic service. All credit for this because they took back my table companion's lunch because she was very disappointed. Recommended if you don't know where to have lunch on the way to the Dordts museum.

Very nice. We came for the cinema part. It was nice and small. Excellent for a romantic date. And you can also do all kinds of other things there, for example eat or just have a drink.

Nice staff, delicious coffee and cake and above all a nice place. Quiet but still very close to the center and many museums nearby. Parking space within walking distance. Great place to start your day in Dordrecht.

Had a mezza tasting this afternoon. Delicious . Fresh products. Service was great, especially the slightly 'older' lady. Wine advice was also excellent. Highly recommended and we will definitely return

Very tasty meal for lunch. Friendly service. Would definitely go back there again. Just not so much for dinner I think. Then the seat seems too long on the chairs I was sitting on. Beautiful view of the Kunstkerk. Very nice part of Dordrecht here. I will definitely come here again for something to eat or drink.

It was a bit disappointing. The cappuccino was not hot enough, and one cup had a foot soak. The restaurant is conveniently located opposite a theater.
