Had some food at the foodtruck festival from the chef Max. Taco seitan al Pastor. Proper authentic Mexican food. Worth going if you can. He's unfortunately closing his restaurant. The stand at the foodtruck was lovely decorated as well.

Colibrí Cocina Mexicana – Disappointing Tasting Menu Experience Colibrí presents itself as a “Mexican fine dining” restaurant in Arnhem, and I was genuinely curious and excited to try it. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to the expectations. As a large group, we opted for the tasting menu, but the portions were not suited for the group size. The food lacked strong flavor and felt somewhat careless in presentation and execution. To make things worse, we had to wait over 30 minutes between some courses, which disrupted the whole flow of the meal. Given the quality and quantity, the price felt far too high for what we received. The one bright spot was the cocktails, creative, unique, and definitely worth trying if you're into drinks with a twist. Sadly, I left quite disappointed. If I ever return, it will be to try their à la carte dishes, certainly not the tasting menu again.

The taste of the dishes was ok, but the most disappointing aspect was the portion size—it was far too small for the price charged.

Quality on your plate. Well little. Owner very friendly and passionate person. Atmosphere is so good here, I actually rarely come across such an excellent atmosphere.

A wonderful and surprising experience! We really enjoyed the food – it was special. The waiter took the time to explain everything well: what is in the dishes and how they are prepared. That made the dinner extra special. I was also very happy with the cocktail menu – truly Mexican! You won't find cocktails like that anywhere else in Arnhem. It was not only delicious, but also original and different. Definitely worth coming here to eat. We will be back!

Booked via Social Deal. The service was excellent—staff were attentive and welcoming. However, the overall lighting in the venue was quite dim, which affected the color of food. The food was generally good, though at times the use of spices was overly dominant. For example, the tuna tartare had a strong flavour profile that overpowered the other ingredients. The kitchen seems to favour combining varied textures, which is conceptually interesting, but occasionally the contrasts felt unbalanced—some elements were too hard or lacked smoothness, which disrupted the overall mouthfeel. The mocktails, on the other hand, were well-crafted and enjoyable.

Service was terrible! The hostess spoke English but understood very little. We had to ask someone else about the menu. There were more drinks on the menu than food options. It also took far too long for our food to arrive. The food was absolutely terrible (far too salty). Tacos were two incredibly small tortillas. The food was terrible, more like tapas, no side dish (rice, tortillas, or beans), and far too little for the price. The mocktails (a 0.0% mojito) were also more ice than drink. We wouldn't return!

The food was really delicious. The service was good and fast. Recommended. However, the communication was only in English and was difficult to understand due to the noise around us. The ladies tried very hard but their voices were too thin to make themselves understood and I missed half of the explanation...

With 17 people had a 4 course dinner at the restaurant. It was a treat to get special dishes that were made especially for us. Also gluten free and vegetarian was no problem for the chef. Mexican at a high level!

Wow....just wow. Food was so tasty and even more beautiful presented! Real authentic Mexican flavors. Can really recommend the fried oysters, the birria taco and crab taco. Thanks for the great food and atmosphere.

Had a delicious 4 courses. Powerful spicy dishes without being too spicy. Everything was gluten-free for me and vegetarian for one table. Dishes were adjusted where necessary. Food is neatly served on beautiful plates. They have also developed their own beer. They work with metal reusable straws. Sustainable and nicer than those paper straws.

Service - top notch. The restaurant wants to radiate exclusivity with its dishes. My experience is that the dishes (6 courses) each tasted almost identical and were on the bitter side. I expected different dishes. A little more variety in the offering would be good.

An authentic Mexican restaurant place in Arnhem. This was an unexpected discovey for us, but we found it great. The service is quite OK and the food is very good although portions are on the small side given the prices. We recommend totopos with salsa, yuca fries, the tacos and the corn cake as dessert.

Erg verassende ervaring. Niet de doorsnee Mexicaan die we hier gewend zijn maar erg verfijnde en typische gerechten. Met veel passie bereid door jonge en bezeten mensen. By far de beste Mexicaanse maaltijd die we ooit gegeten hebben.

Food and the servings were amazing. Quite an elaborate menu to pick options you fancy. Chef and staff both very humble. We ordered a few starters, drinks and main dishes, all quite tasteful. Chef came to explain main dishes which made the experience even more fun. Romantic dinner at Colibri Cocina Mexicana during our 2 week road trip in Netherlands.

Spending an evening here is a truly wonderful experience.

First time in this wonderful restaurant, we will be back. My wife can't to tell her friends about this hidden gem. The hospitality was second to none, the owner visited all tables to ensure his customers were content. Food was spectacular, cocktails were amazing, but most of all it was atmosphere. From start to finish, everything was taken care of down to the last detail. Real Mexican food and unique by taking inspiration from other places. Highlights - the popped corn with the amuse - the monkfish - the corn cake with dessert - the red fermented salsa with garlic Very enthusiastic and friendly staff who tell you what is on your plate. Please note: when you drink cocktails with smoky mescal, this can become overpowering if this smokiness is also reflected in a dish.

First, the oysters and home-fermented hot sauces were phenomenal! Secondly, the rest of the food was phenomenal too! The cocktails were delicious, staff super cheerful. Lots of passion! We had the drinks board: a sublime drinks board!

A party on your plate! Beautifully laid out plates, beautiful to look at and every bite is a pleasure. Lovely relaxed meal, lovely attentive service. There was always a different person at the table, which seemed a bit messy. But I'm really excited about the flavors, the balance between sour, sweet and unami. You can taste the craftsmanship and dedication. Small portions, but very refined. And very affordable, definitely worth the money. We would love to come back here again.

Tapas snacks with a cocktail. The snacks were tasty, the cocktails: the first one was tasty, then I had another cocktail, which I didn't like. Unfortunately, the table and chairs were not comfortable. The table moved considerably with some movement, almost the entire table turned over several times. If you sit with your back against the back of the chair, you will slide forward off the chair. That made the evening less pleasant.

Unfortunately a disappointing Valentine's Day experience; and that wasn't my partner's fault ;). A very long wait, after two hours we had received the first three small rounds. The food itself was not bad in taste but was burnt or lukewarm several times. All in all, not worth the very steep price.

Amazing mexican dishes and very friendly staff. The atmosphere is quite nice even though it could have been in a better place. The menu is quite expensive for what you get served but the taste and quality of the food is on a different level!

Had dinner at the Colibri yesterday, it was fantastic again!

The food was good, the rest was less so. When we arrived, the chair was broken and sagging, and the table was very unstable. We exchanged the table and chair for another one, so the rest of our group sat a lot lower. Behind us was a sturdy table with a few good chairs, but we were assured that it had been served and we absolutely could not sit there. 2.5 hours later the table was still empty, so the guests who were there could have sat comfortably... we didn't feel heard or helped. Napkins in the toilet to dry your hands? A waitress who asked at checkout if I wanted to round up, said I normally tip, but not under these circumstances.

The food at Colibrí was amazing!! I was positively surprised with the delicious and authentic Mexican flavors. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes from their menu :)

We enjoyed the 4-course chef's menu; really delicious food. Special flavors and ingredients. The tacos in particular were our favorite! This restaurant is highly recommended, you should go here sometime!

We recently had dinner here with friends. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and served well throughout the evening. The cocktails are definitely recommended! I would even go there just for cocktails and a small snack. The dishes on the menu did not disappoint either. The flavors are good and the choice is really good. This restaurant really deserves more visitors! It is in the center of Arnhem, but you have to walk there consciously. Unfortunately, you don't just pass by when you are in the city center. Definitely put this restaurant on your list!

We have been going to Colibri since it opened in spring 2023 and it is consistently excellent. The tacos are amazing and there is very often something new and / or seasonal to try. All the food is delicious and unique, the salsa are completely homemade and exciting, and there is an impressive array of cocktails to choose from. The chef is very creative but still true to the spirit of Oaxacan / Mexican cuisine. It is clear he takes time to select high quality ingredients and he is amazing at dealing with food allergies and restrictions. It is by far the best Mexican food in NL.

We were here in August via Social Deal, when we arrived we thought, well, this won't work. But when we entered it was a very attractive location and a beautiful courtyard. The staff is incredibly friendly. The chef's menu was special and delicious. Really enjoyed it.

Had dinner last night through a social deal promotion. So we couldn't choose the menu ourselves, but we were wonderfully surprised. Beautiful preparations, delicious, well-coordinated flavors and a very nice atmosphere. Highly recommended. We will definitely come back.

The food was good, the Mexican restaurant was authentic and it was tasty. Unfortunately it wasn't cheap for the portion size, but the quality was good. Unfortunately there were no children's meals or children's plates etc. The restaurant is more recommended for couples or friends. In addition, the service was very accommodating.

What a recommendation! Good atmosphere, friendly staff and fantastic food. The owner is passionate about his restaurant and his food. We were helped by the owner's friend, she was very friendly. We had a special starter, three varieties of tuna. It had a great taste and the three variants were very different but delicious in their own way. As main course we had “SHORTRIB & MOLE NEGRO” and “HUEVOS RANCHEROS”. It took a while before this was served, but this was clearly communicated and we received a free glass of wine. For dessert we had “PASSION FRUIT & MANGO” and “CHOCOLATE”. It will be boring but again great in taste and presentation. Unique taste experiences that you don't often encounter. We will definitely eat here more often and can highly recommend it to everyone.

We were very enthusiastic about Colibri, especially about the staff and the food, but also about the atmosphere thanks to the soft background music and the presence of other people, without it feeling crowded, busy or loud. The employees are also very flexible and helpful and are happy to help with issues such as allergies. The dishes were really complete in terms of taste, looked beautiful and there was a pleasant time between courses. The only downsides are that it is a bit pricey, with the four courses we would have really had enough, but just a main course, for example, would not be enough for us, and some things (corn ribs) were a little saltier than I am used to, but I didn't mind this disturbing. In our opinion, definitely recommended.

I don't know where to start but it wasn't good!!!

It is not a terrible restaurant, which is mainly due to the friendly hostess. But it's also about the food and that was really not good. What you get is in no way commensurate with the price. And usually that's not so bad if the food is tasty and good. It wasn't. In addition, the chairs were way too low, the garden was a mess and the tables were not clean. In short; I leave the restaurant empty of illusions and with a practically empty stomach. Shame!

Had dinner at Colibrí yesterday, third time already! For the first time in the cozy garden, very attractive with cozy lights. It is time that the renovation of the blue waves is finally finished, so that colibrí gains fame among Arnhem residents and visitors to our city (after all, the restaurant is a stone's throw from the station). Here you can taste the real Mexican corn tortilla as it should be and you will find surprising combinations on your plate. The chef always comes up with something new. We will definitely come back!

Went there for our anniversary with my husband. Enjoyed our time there very much - we sat on a patio, which was very cozy; the food was delicious (and enough vegan options), the cocktails were unique and tasty. The chef was very nice, I liked that he explained each dish by ingredients. Definitely coming back.

Delicious freshly made food, good quality and very good cocktails. The margarita with mezcal is delicious! It is beautifully and attractively decorated and has a beautiful courtyard. Friendly service :)

Despite all the good reviews, I can't make it any other way. The food was lukewarm/cold. And anything but exciting. Especially salt. We got the side dish, the fries, between courses... We sat outside and at an x ​​moment it got dark. But the lighting was broken. No candles or anything like that were brought. We sat there. And so it went on... 85 euros for lukewarm food. It was busy, that's why, according to the employee...

Way too expensive for what you get. Although the staff was nice, they were clearly short-staffed. Glasses were not replenished and it took a long time to get your food. The food itself was delicious, but the portions are shockingly small. The appetizer was the size of a fingernail. This may have been free, but then give something bigger or nothing at all. We had to pay 175 euros each for 4 wines, 2 cocktails, some snacks and 5 tacos. Those prices are ridiculous. At a festival you get even more value for your money at a food truck than here. That is the reason we will not be coming back.

Very tasty food, special flavors.

Delicious cocktails, you rarely find a good margarita in the Netherlands, but you can find it here! Even the non-alcoholic mojito was really tasty. The calamari are also surprisingly tasty with a delicious dip. Unfortunately, we found the tacos with meat (pork shoulder and beef tongue) a bit dry, but the ceviche (fish) was very tasty and fresh. We would love to come back!

Had a great meal here. The service was very friendly and service-oriented. The chairs were a bit low for the high table, the waiter immediately grabbed higher chairs for us. He gave good advice about the cocktails. The dishes were delicious, the vegan fried chicken taco was so crispy, made from oyster mushroom, but you couldn't detect it. The carrot with the main course was so much fun! It had a very meaty texture. With onion chutney on the side and a mousse, a really brilliant idea. Definitely come here again!

This restaurant has been on my list of restaurants where I would like to eat for over a year. Today the time had finally come. The entrance was already good. When we entered we were warmly welcomed by a nice, enthusiastic man behind the bar. We chose to take a seat in the garden behind the restaurant. Because the tables are a bit high in relation to the chairs, the bartender was kind enough to give us chairs inside so that we could sit a little higher. Me and my girlfriend had a 4 course surprise menu. My girlfriend has a vegetarian menu and I have a menu without restrictions. We started our first course with a corn on the cob. The second were two purple wraps with meat in my case and vegetarian content in her case. Both dishes were excellent, but the hits came later! As a main course, a carrot that tasted like sweet potato and chicken in a crispy crust. All very tasteful. The dishes were served by the chef himself with a detailed explanation of all the ingredients. I also liked that there was a relatively large amount of vegetables in the dish. The chocolate dessert was also very tasty! It's a very different restaurant than most Mexican restaurants I know. You can make most Mexican dishes at home, but certainly not this one! For drinks we had a cocktail that was on the strong side in terms of alcohol, so I had more than enough after 1 cocktail. Hopefully the road for the Colibri will be finished soon so that people will be more likely to spontaneously walk past here, because it is a super nice restaurant that is now a bit hidden behind a construction site.

Cozy restaurant with a good (too dark) atmosphere. Snacks and takos are tasty, but main dishes are very disappointing (taste, presentation,... not made with "love"). We think it's overpriced for such small portions, especially with snacks, tacos and desserts.

Very enthusiastic beforehand, but the food was not great. It was way too expensive, which is why I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

A pleasant surprise for us. Not your average Mexican. Not much choice, but the dishes were all excellent. Excellent service, friendly. The only downside is the work in front of the door, but that is temporary and there is little they can do about it. We'll be back here!

We have lived on the west coast of the US and have easy access to good Mexican food. The meal we had at Colobri Cocina was as good as we have had. The spicing was excellent and spot on. The chef brings each course out and explains the food. This place is the real deal and we will be going back. The desert we had was roasted pineapple with popcorn ice cream. Amazing.

At the last minute we decided to eat at Colibrí Cocina Mexicana. Didn't regret it. A different Mexican menu than we expected, but certainly not disappointed. Mexican dishes with a contemporary twist: true flavors, authentic ingredients prepared with love. Add to this the perfect presentation with "on point" operation. High dining for a very acceptable price.

The food was out of this world. I haven't had such tacos since I was in Mexico 10 years back, so this is definitely going to be a repeat experience! The service was attentive overall and the general ambiance pleasant, although the music was a tad too loud to my taste. If you love authentic food with a tasteful refinement, I recommend this place strongly.

We spend around 3 hours in this awesome Mexican restaurant. You could tell that the owners put a lot of love into every dish, which is definitely something different from the typical Mexican chain restaurants. Every course was explained in detail, and they have a super huge variety of cocktails, mescal and tequila. If you like Mexican food, stop by!!!
