Today was the 3rd time I came here to pick something up. I ordered 1 blue cheese/jalapeno sourdough bread, 1 pistachio/cherry suisse, 1 passion fruit cruffin, and 2 croissants. It had been a while since I was here. I was served by a very friendly young man who recommended the blue cheese/jalapeno sourdough bread. When I told him what else I wanted to order, he said: “Love it!” and we started chatting. He was incredibly friendly, helpful, and very sweet. Because the pastries were so beautiful, he wanted to keep them looking nice and put them in separate, small boxes. I often go to bakeries and cafes to try new things. However, when you order multiple pastries, they are often all put in the same box or paper bag. As a result, you get home and unfortunately see that some pastries have shifted completely or are damaged. For example, that the cream isn't sitting neatly on the pastry anymore, or that the jam has smeared all over the box 😅 I thought it was really thoughtful that this employee took the trouble to wrap everything individually! Or, in his own words: “Loveeeeee it” 🫶 I even thought for a moment that he was the owner. This employee is friendly, attentive, sociable, and has moves (he was dancing while working 😂). Hope to run into him again next time! And then the food: it was delicious! A bit on the pricey side, but for a “treat yourself (or your loved ones)” moment, it is definitely worth it. The cruffin and suisse were generously filled and not too sweet. They looked beautiful too. The croissants are nice and crispy and flaky, and were the biggest croissants I have had in the Netherlands so far. Many croissants are too soft for my taste, as if they were bought in a supermarket, or have a slightly burnt taste because they have been in the oven too long. The blue cheese/jalapeno sourdough bread was also delicious. You can really taste the cheese and the jalapeno. It was a bit spicy, but fortunately the spiciness doesn't linger in your mouth for long. Additionally, the crust was nice and crispy. In short: both the food and the service were top-notch. I will definitely be back next time... once my paycheck is deposited again 😂

I came across this cute bakery while strolling around Schiedam and given the good reviews I decided to give it a try. While it definitely justifies the good reviews there are some things that can be improved. There was a little queue to order and receive the order as there was only one person making the drinks, serving and also taking the orders, maybe I came during a busy time and I understand that there’s a small space behind the counter but maybe a little help for the girl serving would make the whole process smoother and faster. But nevertheless she was polite. Secondly, the cappuccino was too milky for my taste. And lastly, I took a focaccia with me and the taste was a bit disappointing (I forgot to make a better picture of it)

Amazing staff took their time chatting to my daughter. The produce is supper yummy. Will definitely go back.

We stopped there for breakfast, it was really nice. The flatwhite and pastries were delicious! I would strongly recommend it !

Actually, I don't usually give five stars so quickly, but what a place! A beautiful location, delicious products, friendly staff, and yes, it is a bit more pricey than, for example, a normal loaf of bread, but it is more than worth it. There really isn't much more to say; definitely worth a visit! Oh, by the way, a tip from me: focaccia mozzarella, pff...

Finally, we were in the neighborhood and still needed to have breakfast. We went for a pain au chocolat, a mushroom pastry, a garlic knot, and a pudding brioche with raspberries and blackberries. WOW! We also took a piece of butter cake home. 10 out of 10 will definitely come back!

I love coming here. The olive bread is my absolute favorite, and I also find the cheese and mustard croissant delicious. What I like is that the selection of sweets changes regularly, so there is always something new to try. Additionally, I appreciate that they think about sustainability. For example, you can buy bread from the freezer, so that less is wasted. A lovely bakery with tasty products and a beautiful vision.

Great coffee, vegan cinnamon roll, and vibe

Perfect place to treat your toddler (or other favorite person) to a croissant, or something else tasty. It is situated in a very nice spot where you can enjoy all the goodies in peace and quiet, in the sun.

Everything (and I mean absolutely everything) is perfect at De Bakkerette. From the croissants, to the sweet girls behind the counter, to the reels on Insta. Kind of a very delicious sweet fever dream, or something.

The atmosphere is great and the staff is very friendly. The coffee was incredibly delicious, as were the Brookie, pain au chocolat, and Cantucci! The kimchi-cheese cannon was also delicious, but the bread was very firm; I think a little lighter would have been better. The prices are a bit high, but that's clearly reflected in the quality. I'll definitely be back :)

I feel sad while writing this review because the Bakkerette has been one of my favorite places since I moved to Schiedam, and I have been SEVERAL times there with my partner and/or my small dog. I could never have a bad word about the products, which are exquisite all of them, and the staff attending and serving. Nevertheless the attitude of the owner today was from my humble opinion unacceptable. I will always be open and happy to listen, respect rules (which I haven't seen written anywhere) and in cases that is necessary follow a request of leaving a space because my dog is barking (since when is that forbidden? I insist) However, in this specific situation, I didn't receive any warning or feedback before being (4 people, not only me and the dog) literally kicked out by the owner shouting in front of everyone the sentence "its time for you to go", while still drinking our coffees, which I found tremendously humilliating, disrespectful and impolite. There are many ways of saying things to your customers and I find he chose by far the worst one. Products are amazing, but for me that's not worth it anymore. Good luck!

Undoubtedly the best coffee I ever drank; tasty brew, good temperature and nicely foamed oatmilk. Staff was very kind, even though it was pretty busy. I’ll come back again!

A bit much, and yet you want more. Almost(?) everything at the Bakkerette is a bit odd and actually a bit too much, and yet after 20 minutes you're back in line to get something else. It's like in the Geen Woorden Maar Draken podcast when you hear Bas talking and think: "Yo, calm down a bit," and then you feel sad when the episode ends and you can't listen to it again for a week. But seriously, you want this, so just go.

Delicious chocolate croissants, a lovely shop with a great atmosphere. If I'm ever in Schiedam again, I'll have to try some more delicious treats.

The breads, snacks and coffee are really delicious, it's just a shame that it's so far away and I can't get there that often.

Nice place, delicious sandwiches, and original flavors available. The shop has a lot of potential: beautiful products, a cozy atmosphere, and a wonderful aroma. The only real shame was the unpleasant attitude of the woman behind the counter today. She seemed uninterested and responded curtly to my questions as if I were bothering her. My companions noticed this too. I'll try again soon, and hopefully, the customer service experience will be better, because such a nice shop deserves it!

Was hesitant to write this negative-ish review because of how the owner, Bas, responds to every review with care and attention. But also I wish this helps the business. Visited the bakery for the first time recently. Came in quite early so had a wide selection to choose from, everything looked super delicious. However, I told myself “I am never coming here again” when was leaving the bakery because of how uncomfortable was my interaction with the girl who took my order. Nothing straight up rude, but I felt like I had to apologize for asking a question / not knowing / making an order. Got to try everything at home though, everything was lovely. My flatmate who is usually indifferent to bread praised it and took extra slices.

I'm thrilled with this charming bakery in the center of Schiedam. Delicious food, a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, and a great cup of coffee.

What an iconic spot, nestled in the beautiful center of Schiedam. A small shop with great products. What a selection! Everything is delicious, fresh, unique...not good for the waistline 😆! The service was also top-notch! Absolutely recommended.

A hipster bakery where you pay over 3 euros for a pain au chocolat or baguette, and on top of that, they're not friendly. As for the bread, it's not hard to beat the local stuff. By hipsters, for hipsters.

The aroma, the craftsmanship, the taste! Simply fantastic. I would never eat a croissant outside of France again, but that promise is quickly broken.

Cute little bakery with great selection of bread and pastries. Dangerously delicious, try the almond croissant or the vegetarian sausage pastry and you will want to go there every day. Also carries a good selection of oils, jams, syrups, coffee...gourmet food accessories that make great gifts. They have limited seating inside if you want to have your coffee and cake there, but when the weather is nice, they have tables and seats outside to accommodate more people. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

When I am around the corner, I can already smell the delicious magic of De Bakkerette. This is not a place I could work, no resistance! Every other day or so, on our morning dog walk, we stop here for fresh bread. On the days that the delicious aromas are really too much to resist, I give in to the temptation of a tangy mustard and cheese croissant or a veg "sausage" pastry. My partner loves the croissants and the sweet treats. You can bring your own packaging, The people who work here are kind and never show stress, which is pretty amazing because customer facing work is never without stress. If you are going to be a regular, then consider investing in a bread card. On a scale of 1-10, I would give them a 15. Why? Because they just do everything right. The products they sell from other producers are all artisanal and primarily local. Everything they make is full of flavor, you can taste the high quality of the ingredients. They have an inclusive team. They make getting your (almost) daily bread a joyful stop on the morning walk instead of an anonymous experience in the supermarket.

The fresh pastries are divine. Burgundian-style sizes with deep, warm layers that are unlike any other pastry I've ever tasted. I call it a masterpiece and I enjoy it every time. And then there are the fresh pretzels... the fresh bread, the jalapeño blue cheese. It'll make you make primal noises. Seriously, it's on a whole other level than your average bakery... rustic culinary.

Sunday morning, just waking up, getting breakfast in my sweatpants. What a treat! Delicious croissants, the sausage roll was divine, the best cinnamon rolls ever, and the banana bread is divine too. Highly recommended! Tip: arrive early, then the selection is huge :)

I tried: the cheese pretzel, pain au chocolat, and sourdough raisin bread. And they were all delicious! This is what you want for those truly cozy, homemade, top-quality baked goods. You pay for the quality of the products, and it's worth it.

Had an Almond croissant here and it was absolutely scrumptious! Love the vibe and they have so much more than just baked goods!

The food here is really great, but the owner is incredibly rude and antisocial. That's why we don't come here anymore; I'm going to do something about it.

We came here because of the high reviews and the beautiful photos on Google Maps. They may have recently moved, but little of the authentic style from the earlier photos remains. The food was a big disappointment. I would have liked to try something like a croissant or pain au chocolat, but they were out of those pastries. The focaccia we chose as an alternative wasn't very tasty and disappointing considering the high price. The Giraffe coffee, of course, was good.

My girlfriend and I regularly visit the bakery, and their products are exceptionally good. You can find plenty of delicious cakes, breads, and other treats there. The only thing that really leaves a bitter aftertaste for this place, in our opinion, is the lack of customer service. The owner comes across as very charismatic and hip on Instagram, but in the bakery, he often has an arrogant attitude. This often makes you feel uncomfortable. Even when you try to strike up a conversation to lighten the mood, he's not interested. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and addressed, because we think it's a very good, high-quality bakery, and we'd be disappointed if this was the reason we didn't buy anything. Stopped by for a croissant. They look a little bit burnt to those of used to French style but please dont let that put you off, they’re super delicious! Perfectly crispy and flaky outside, fluffy in the middle and importantly not too oily. Thanks De Bakkerette!

Update: The tastiest croissants in all of the Netherlands! Not cheap, but they do offer a croissant the size of your toddler's head (I've scientifically tested this). And the best sourdough bread in Schiedam and the surrounding area. Great atmosphere, a lovely bakery, and delicious local products available. The new location is larger and offers more space to enjoy coffee or a sandwich. You haven't been to Schiedam until you've bought bread at Bakkerette!

I thought this sourdough was wonderful, with an incredible smell, and the brownie was fantastic—I've never had one like it! I had trouble communicating and learning more about most of the treats, but everything I bought was delicious!

Always a quick bike ride past my favorite bakery! My favorite is definitely the cinnamon bun, but their sourdough breads are also fantastic. Recommended if you are in the area and a bonus if you can still sit outside in the sun

This bakery is something else. Their sourdough bread is to die for—hands down the best in Schiedam and beyond. Perfectly crusty on the outside, chewy on the inside. Their scones and brownies are heavenly and always a good decision, have them with a coffee and enjoy the view. If you like a bit of funk, go for the kimchi pastries. But the canelés are my all time favorite. They are as good as the ones in Paris (not talking about the sad touristy ones near Gare du Nord). Perfection. Go see for yourself. Thank me later.

This is what I like: Small company focused on quality and made with heart. Not a large selection but excellent quality. If you want you can get coffee outside, of course with pastries or cookies. My favorite: the Amaretti Please drop by, because we should cherish these types of businesses.

We love Bas & de Bakkerette. We would prefer to adopt him because he is so much fun and bakes the tastiest bread and cookies! Top guy!

Can't say enough of this place, quality baked goods, collabs with local farms and bakeries, creative and seasonal baked goods. Bas the owner is so invested in the craft and is super kind!

Cheese Brezel is nice and Focaccia is with a nice chewy touch. Unfortunately the pumpkin seeds sourdough is rather disappointing, it doesn't have any bouncy texture. I expected light open crumbs yet instead it's more like dense and dry.

The tastiest breads for breakfast, lunch or drinks, you can wake me up at night for the filled gingerbread. Also for the Foccacia. My wife swears by the Canele Bordelais.

The best bakery around... it doesn't matter what you get here, everything is delicious. The Foccasia is wonderfully crispy and full of flavor, but be sure to try the scones with cheese! And while you're there... you really shouldn't pass up the filled gingerbread 😍

I never believed that bread could make you fat. Until I came across this bread. Normally a loaf of bread would last a week. These loaves fly through in a day. Breakfast: sourdough bread, second breakfast: peanut butter brownie, lunch: Sourdough bread, Snack: sourdough bread, dinner: Sourdough bread, dessert: Scone. Luckily I live a short walk away, otherwise I would be sitting on the sidewalk every morning before opening time. Even my housemate with gluten allergy is willing to have a stomach ache for two days as long as she can eat a scone.

Spontaneously ended up here after missing the train and bridging the waiting time for the next one :). Always looking for new places, I cycled here after consulting Google. And I am pleasantly surprised, the entire range looks so tasty and of good quality! It spontaneously makes you feel stressed about making choices, haha. Since it was Sunday, that means scones for me. The choice was huge, fortunately I was treated pleasantly and I even received tips about the favorites. The choice ultimately fell on the Scone with Amarena cherries and blue cheese. Once home, I warmed up in the Airfryer and... wow! From the first bite I was already dancing enthusiastically in the kitchen. It was so delicious that I didn't even have to put anything on it, what a party for my taste buds 🥰. Been today for the first time. Bought a country bread with sesame. Sooo delicious!! Bread that you really have to chew with a delicious crust!! There are even more tasty things that I will definitely come back for. Nice store and nice people!

The best bread in Zuid Holland! Not only the best fresh sourdough but the pretzels are to die for! Cookies, scones..always something lekker to get here and tickle your taste buds!!! Service is always with a smile, and my daughter loves to come in case 'the lady with the cookie jar' is also there!! Highly recommend :-)
