We dined here for the second time, and it was perfect again. The seven-course menu—langoustine, pulpo, gyoza, veal sweetbreads, Kampen lamb, cheese, and raspberry—was every bit a delight. The tables were set with crisp linens, sparkling glasses, and impeccable tableware. The staff was skilled, attentive, and meticulously professional. Yes, it's classic, but I like that. Especially in a two-Michelin-star restaurant, it adds that extra touch of class. We sat at the table for over five hours, savoring every course. The wines were perfectly chosen and added another dimension to the meal. Afterwards, we took a taxi back to our hotel, satisfied and happy. Absolutely fantastic—an evening to cherish.

We ate here a few years ago, and it was all very delicious. Because of the beautiful weather, we were seated on the terrace. It was very lackluster, not a single flower on the table. The decor was definitely not star-worthy. It's not a cozy place to eat. I can imagine it would have been much better inside. All in all, we won't be returning.

It was honestly a disappointing experience. Especially the arrogant service and the lack of proper information. The chef who mentions at the table that you can change dishes, and pays a little extra for the Wagyu, we are then confronted with costs that are two and a half times more. While something else is said. The food was of course good, not necessarily a very special sensation, not very creative. The service was somewhat distant and the atmosphere was not very warm. The recently started intern was very courteous and professional, she was the big exception. The view of the water is beautiful. The ambiance inside is of course a matter of taste, but in my opinion not very atmospheric. Rather standard. A nice round table. Fortunately I was in good company and the wine was delicious. I would not recommend this place.

Upon arrival a warm welcome, the weather was lovely so we could have lunch outside on the beautiful terrace overlooking the water. We enjoyed the complete menu with one of the highlights the vegetarian dish with morel. Extensive wine list with good advice from sommelier Barry. Compliments to the entire team, we enjoyed ourselves very much.

They explained why they don’t offer it, but personally I prefer not having to think about the wine selection myself. And it does push the costs up, which are already substantial. 😊

We had dinner here with a beautiful and relaxing view. We chose 5 courses. You can then choose which of the 7 dishes you take. They do not have a wine arrangement, but you will be advised if you would like a bottle of wine with dinner. Please indicate your budget, because there are wines listed that are well priced. The dinner starts with some appetizers, followed by an appetizer with smoked salmon trout. These snacks were a good start to the evening. As our first course we had the North Sea crab. Then we got the turbot. Both courses were tasty. The delicate flavor of the crab was palpable. The turbot was excellently prepared and the buttermilk sabayon went well with it. The third course was the sweetbreads. This was crispy, well lacquered and tasted good too. However, the kidneys had too strong a gamey taste. That made it difficult to really enjoy it. Slightly smaller pieces and just a little more preparation would have made the kidneys tasty. And eating it with the sweetbreads seemed like a waste of well-prepared sweetbreads, so omitting the kidneys would also be fine. The main course lamb was well prepared. With these courses we drank a chardonnay from Germany. It went surprisingly well with everything! If you do not go for the full 7 courses and are unsure whether you want to go for the cheese or dessert, I advise you to look at the cheese cart first. I chose the cheese myself and I have not regretted it for a moment. You will be helped well with your choice and you will get quite a bit of cheese. Only some bread is served with it, no compôte/jam/confit and no grapes or ceackers. It is not absolutely necessary, but it is nice to eat between cheeses as a palette cleanser. I would definitely come back here.

We have been here many times over the years. It is clear: the Bokkendoorns is no longer the ⭐️ star restaurant that it used to be. The food is okay... but not fantastic and not very imaginative, except for the vegetarian dishes. Still serving fois gras and steak tartare in 2025? You come here for a new taste experience and high service and ambiance. The last two clearly leave much to be desired. The tables outside were not set and looked tatty. We were addressed as je/you and the table was already cleared even though the cutlery clearly indicated that we were not ready for the next dish. By the way, the place was noticeably empty on a Friday evening. The chef will undoubtedly have done his utmost with the food, but the demise of this room is evident on your plate.

Our group of three visited Bokkendoorns last Friday for dinner. Sadly, our experience was extremely sub-par. First, the food was excellent. Easily 5-Stars. Everything was incredible as to be expected. However, the service was just not good and really hurt the overall experience. Initial drink order: They don't offer a wine pairing, so we asked for recommendations on what works with the first course. Our server just asked, "Do you like red or white?" We said we don't care, just recommend what works. The server simply had no idea what to suggest and there was no sommelier on staff. Amuse-bouche: We had a food allergy and pescetarian in our group. Oddly enough, the amuse-bouche was delivered with the one food allergy ingredient for one of the guests and meat for the pescatarian. Not a huge deal by any means, and they fixed it right away, but this is typically something that shouldn't happen in a place like this. Subsequent drink order: On our next drink order, we asked for recommendations on what type of wine to order for pairing purposes and a different server had the same response of simply asking if we like red or white instead of suggesting something that goes with the meal. Table Cleanliness: They brought bread for the table, which was great, however crumbs get everywhere with bread. Nobody came by to swipe the crumbs until the very end of the meal. Again, not a big deal to me, but it's that extra touch to be expected from a Michellin two-star establishment. Final Drink order and Bill: Towards the end of the meal, we sat for at least 10-15 minutes with empty glasses before someone came by for drink orders. It was really odd how something like empty glasses can be overlooked several times by employees walking by our table. Then once our meal was over, it took a really long time to get our bill. Overall, it was just somewhat of a cold experience from a service standpoint in every aspect. I've always been "Wowed" at the level of service from Michellin starred restaurants, but this definitely was not on point or on the same level.

14-3 reserved for 4 people. We take a star restaurant once a quarter to be surprised. The location on the edge of the dunes in Overveen is beautiful. We were welcomed nicely and led to our table. The atmosphere in the restaurant leaves a bit to be desired. It is a bit dated and could use a makeover. We took the 6-course menu and also left some snacks there. One does not want pork and the other does not want foie gras. The amuses were very tasty so, go ahead! Well, that was a bit disappointing. When I visit a star restaurant and have to pay a lot of money for it, I expect my taste buds to be tickled... Unfortunately... Price-pleasure ratio was out of the question here. Something with potatoes... broth and something else. Come on man! Turbot fillet, that was just a bit too much. Foie gras was a great Sligro snack. And then that potato... Duck was actually quite nice. Cheese for dessert, always tasty! Conclusion, already had quite a few tents but this one is at the bottom of my list. Hope for the crew that they pick it up and do something with it! Good luck!

We reserved a table at the Bokkedoorns over a year ago to celebrate both our 65th birthdays. We booked early as booking a table for 24 people at a 2-star restaurant is difficult to start with, and our friends had to come in from all over the country (or even abroad) and needed to book hotel rooms. We noticed the booking date was Kings Day 2025 and called the restaurant whether they were sure the restaurant was open, which they confirmed. An official confirmation was received in the e-mail... Two days ago I got a call the restaurant would be closed April 26, and our reservation was cancelled. This was a message delivered to us in a not very empathic way. I of course protested as we made all the arrangements. The lady who called me said she would discuss this with the owner and the restaurant would come back to me. Indeed the same lady called back and informed me "sorry again, we are always closed on Kings day and nothing we can do....." Pls move to another date..... Unbelievable that in a Michelin 2-star restaurant. - You get informed so late something the could have known when they accepted our reservation. - The reservation system is apparently a mess. - Even when you were about to fork out about € 8000+ on a dinner, the owner does not even take the trouble to call you to apologise and offer some sort of compensation for the trouble we (and our friends) are now in, and just have his staff call back. I hope the Michelin Inspectors do take these things into account as well when they visit the restaurant. We have rebooked at another nice restaurant with good service. Never again the Bokkedoorns.....

Kerstlunch in de Bokkedoorns: daar heb je hoge verwachtingen van, zeker met 2 Michelinsterren. Die worden grotendeels waargemaakt, op een paar slippertjes na. De grootste: de ruime hoeveelheid Italiaanse wintertruffel die gul over de coquille wed gereaspt. Volkomen geur- en smakeloos en dus zeker geen wintertruffel uit Piemonte als ik het goed onthouden heb. Echte truffel gebruik je met mate omdat geur en smaak zo overweldigend zijn, dat meer niet nodig is. Ik weet dus niet waar ze deze truffel vandaan hadden, maar het is gemakkelijk om gul te zijn met zo'n inferieur en waarschijnlijk goedkoop product. Geen wijnarrangement, nummer 2. Bij een kerstmenu is dat niet alleen fijn, maar ook efficiënt, omdat je weinig open flessen overhoudt: iedereen drinkt immers de zelfde wijnen. De nu geschonken witte bourgogne was op zich prima, maar te complex van smaak om bij meerdere gerechten te drinken. Het eten was goed, maar weinig verrassend en erg gekunsteld: wéér ganzenlever vrij smakeloze en onnodige kaviaar en paling , ingrediënten die niet alleen afgezaagd zijn, maar ook nog eens weinig duurzaam en niet echt 2024, laat staan 2025. Die 2e ster vind ik discutabel. Als laatste: smaken verschillen, maar het interieur is zo langzamerhand behoorlijk gedateerd en hoort ook meer thuis in 1980 dan in 2025.

I was lucky enough to find a French restaurant called ``De Bokkedoorm'' while driving to a beach overlooking the North Sea. Until I went there, I thought it was a cafe by the pond. I was lucky enough to arrive without a reservation and wearing casual clothes. All the dishes were beautiful and more delicious than I expected. The owner himself was on the floor responding to the fans who visited the store. The staff service was also friendly and wonderful. Next time, I will make a reservation and dress appropriately for the meal. Thank you for the wonderful time ❤️

It was very cold in the restaurant, you could feel the draft, the beginning of the evening was okay, later we were asked if we were from the area and of course we gave a polite answer, then the waiter asked if we often ate at 'standard' We thought this was a really strange inappropriate question, the owner walked around the restaurant all evening, literally chatted at every table, except for us, and eventually asked for the bill where I had made a mistake with the tip, it wasn't much , which was just a stupid math error, To his surprise the waiter had to look twice at the bill and stood there and raised his eyebrows, like how dare you tip so little. Thank you and goodbye was his closing and he walked away angrily. This is a 2 Michelin star restaurant???? Never ever again to this restaurant, this was certainly not worth €400 and shame on you for treating your guests this way. I am a chef by profession and have been in the profession for 30 years. Some people forget that the catering world is very small………….

Pluspunten: mooie ambiance. Goed, niet heel bijzonder, eten. Kaas van de kaaswagen was voortreffelijk. Minpunten: Er was geen wijnarrangement verkrijgbaar. Wat echt een afknapper was voor ons. Personeel ( veelal erg jong ) liep op witte sneakers. We misten vriendelijkheid / gastvrijheid van het personeel, vooral van de vrouwelijke sommelier. En dat voor een slordige 650 euro( twee pers.) Conclusie: Wij gaan hier niet meer heen.

In het restaurant was het erg koud, je voelde de tocht, begin van de avond was oke, later werd er gevraagd of wij uit de buurt kwamen en gaven daar uiteraard netjes antwoord op, daarna vroeg de kelner of wij vaker op ‘niveau ‘ aten, dit vonden wij echt een hele rare ongepaste vraag, de eigenaar liep de hele avond in het restaurant, letterlijk bij elke tafel een praatje gemaakt, behalve bij ons, uiteindelijk de rekening gevraagd waarbij ik mij had vergist met de fooi, het was niet veel, wat gewoon een stomme reken fout was, de kelner moest tot zijn verbazing 2 keer kijken op de rekening en stond daar en haalde zijn wenkbrauwen op, zoiets van hoe durf je zo weinig fooi te geven. Bedankt en tot ziens was zijn afsluiting en liep kwaad weg. Dit is een 2 michelin sterren zaak???? Nooit en nooit meer naar dit restaurant, dit was zeker geen € 400,- waard en schaam jullie, dat je op dit niveau zo met je gasten omgaat. Ik ben zelf Chef-kok van beroep en zit al 30 jaar in het vak. Sommige mensen vergeten dat de horeca wereld heel klein is………….

Delicious dishes, great service from the team and good advice regarding wine. Neither of us eat meat, but the menu was fantastic and nicely varied fish and vegetarian. The view is beautiful but the interior is a bit old-fashioned and dusty. The owner walked around chatting with every other table except us. The only point of criticism would be that it gives you the feeling that you may not be the type of guest they like.

What a party it is at De Bokkendoorns. A beautiful family lunch with lovely company. The fresh Menetou-Salon, the Whispering Angel and a beautiful CH9 du Pape put an exclamation point behind the very fine dishes. And how beautiful it is. In the dunes at the fen. The case has been restyled. Quality certainly as usual, but the atmosphere is now completely up to date. So we are fans of our hostess who really gave us a wonderful afternoon. Heel vroeger vond ik dit een bijzonder restaurant: het sublieme eten van Lucas Rive, het geweldige gastheerschap van John Beeren en de mooie locatie in de duinen… wauw. Daar is helaas nu ( 20 jaar later ) weinig van over. Alles is nu gewoon oud: het eten is op zijn best klassiek te noemen ( zwaar en ouderwets) en het restaurant lijkt al 20 jaar geen cent gestoken te hebben in het interieur. Het was een zeer trieste middag.

Lunch in De Bokkedoorns in Overveen on a quiet Wednesday. The beautiful location, the all-round view of the robust dunes and nature together with the timeless allure create more than enough atmosphere, even with some empty tables around us, to imagine ourselves in a warm, just sufficiently designed living room. What a great restaurant it is and remains. Neat, attentive service with a pleasant smile completes the unique quality. Our recent visit to Restaurant de Bokkedoorns in the beautiful dunes of Overveen was an unforgettable experience. Recent voor de tweede keer ooit gegeten bij de Bokkedoorns. De vorige keer (voor Corona) was een prima ervaring, deze keer een stuk minder. Mijn vrouw en ik hebben ruime ervaring met Michelin restaurants dus we weten ongeveer wel of iets op niveau is of niet. Als deze huidige manier van werken twee sterren oplevert, dan twijfel ik echt aan de maatstaven van Michelin. Het begon al bij binnenkomst, de ontvangst an sich was prima. Vervolgens komen er nog twee tafels een minuut of 5 na ons zitten die eerder hun amuses, kaart en drinken kregen dan wij. Het aperitief was een champagne, we kregen geen keuze welke champagne terwijl een tafel aan de andere kant van de zaal wel degelijk andere champagne kreeg aangeboden. Is dat dan iets voor vaste gasten ofzo? Het lijkt me toch dat je voor dik 600 euro een gelijkwaardige behandeling geeft aan al je gasten, blijkbaar niet. Van een tweesterren tent verwacht ik ook dat het personeel kundig en netjes is. Die kundigheid waag ik zeer te betwijfelen aangezien de dame in kwestie o.a steeds het bestek aan de verkeerde kant legde, en nog naast elkaar ook. Wijn schenken doen we ook over rechts, niet over links/voorlangs. De kledingkeuze vond ik ook discutabel. De kleding zelf was niets mis mee maar hoezo draag je witte sneakers onder nette donkere kleding? Het deed een beetje studentikoos aan. Over kleding gesproken, ik verwacht toch wel een bepaalde verplichte minimale kledingstijl in het restaurant voor de gasten. Er kwamen een man en een vrouw binnen in hun dagelijkse kloffie, dwz gescheurde en geknipte spijkerbroeken. Maar ook deze mensen kenden het personeel en werd er niks over de kleding gezegd. Voelt toch wederom als een soort voorkeursbehandeling voor vaste gasten ofzo? Enfin, de eerste amuses vielen een beetje tegen. Iets mierzoets (zonder een zure tegenhanger oid) en een smakeloos iets. De middelste amuse was wel prima. Het volgende probleem was het wijnarrangement. Ik zie op internet dat er bewust gekozen is om geen wijnarrangement meer te serveren (zelfs niet bij het vaste menu). Dat lijkt een financiele keuze want het zou de eigenaar twee personeelsleden per avond schelen. We kregen een heel pleidooi waarom er geen wijnarrangement meer geschonken werd. Nogal verbijsterd vroeg ik hoe we dan bijpassende wijnen konden krijgen bij alle gangen, nou ja pak maar een fles van 150 euro en dan is het wel goed. Kortgezegd had deze meneer echt geen flauw benul waar ie mee bezig was. "We moeten teveel flessen open laten staan voor een wijnarrangement", einde citaat. In 13 jaar Michelin restaurants (of eigenlijk restaurants in het algemeen) bezoeken ben ik nog nooit ergens geweest waar men geen wijnarrangement serveerde. De redenen die aangedragen worden door de eigenaar om dat niet te doen zijn echt totale drogredenen. Ik dacht even dat men geen sommelier in huis had maar na even zoeken blijken er liefst drie in dienst te zijn waarvan er eentje minimaal die avond gespot is. Wat is de toegevoegde waarde van een sommelier als men geen bijpassende wijnen kan adviseren? Nog meer bezuinigingen (tip voor de eigenaar), gooi je sommeliers er dan ook maar uit want dit voegt niets toe. Het eten was verder wel ok, doch geen hoogstaand culinair menu. Een aantal sausjes smaakten verbrand en dus bitter. Het tempo lag aanvankelijk vrij hoog, ineens besloot men dat het wel wat trager mocht. Zo traag dat we ons op een gegeven moment zaten te ergeren aan dat het zo lang duurde. De pootjes van de fazant deden er 30 minuten over om terug te komen, nadat ze afgesneden waren aan tafel door de ober. We sloten af met de kaas, de dame in kwestie had volgens mij het kortste kaasstrootje getrokken die dag, ze had er duidelijk weinig plezier in en kennis van. En een kaas dessert met alleen wat rozijnenbrood? Geen dipje, geen druiven of iets anders erbij. Verbijsterend eigenlijk. Lang verhaal kort, ik snap in het geheel niet waarom de Bokkedoorns nog twee sterren mag dragen. Voor ruim 600 euro ga ik de volgende keer vele malen liever naar Ciel Bleu, daar krijg je wel degelijk een tweesterren behandeling zoals het hoort. Alles wat ik hierboven benoemd heb vind ik ronduit minachting voor je gasten. Welk zichzelf respecterend hoogwaardig restaurant heeft er geen wijnarrangement? En dan nog om onzinredenen ook. Als de Bokkedoorns weer twee sterren krijgen volgend jaar is het wat mij betreft óf een corrupt zooitje of men handelt met voorkennis als de Michelin controleurs op bezoek komen en passen de modus operandi erop aan. Voor ons was het zeker de laatste keer Bokkedoorns.

Ein sehr schön gelegenes Restaurant mit herrlichem Ausblick. Alles war ausgezeichnet. Die Speisen waren von sehr guter Qualität und geschmacklich hervorragend. Alle 7 Gänge des Bokkedoorns-Menüs waren sensationell. Fantastische Speisen, erlesene Weine und dazu ein beeindruckender Service, der stets präsent war, ohne aufdringlich zu sein, sehr höflich und zuvorkommend. Wir hatten eine sehr schöne Zeit. Jederzeit gerne wieder. Absolut empfehlenswert.

We went to De Bokkedoorns for our one-year anniversary. It was an absolutely wonderful experience! We got there just before 6 PM and didn't leave until almost midnight. It was over five hours of incredible service and food. Our servers Jane, Deb, and Don were wonderful and helped make the experience one we will never forget. It’s difficult to pick a favorite course, but we were glad that we opted to get the optional cheese course. It was delicious and we are still talking about it weeks later. We are Americans, so this restaurant is not close by, but we already promised each other that we will be back in ten years to celebrate our 11th Anniversary. The place is that special!

Uitstekend restaurant met vlekkeloze, vriendelijke service en heerlijk eten. We hadden een viergangenlunch op het buitenterras. De vier amuses waren verrukkelijk en daarna de ceviche ook. De overige drie gangen waren lekker en mooi, maar hadden nog iets uitgesprokener mogen zijn. De drankjes waren ook prima maar wel prijzig, vooral het waterarrangement. Zeker voor herhaling vatbaar. Aanrader.

Misschien ligt het aan mij. Maar ik vond het duur en niet heel leuk. Eten was echt goed. Alleen dat verwacht je natuurlijk al bij een sterrenrestaurant. Voor de rest hangt er een sfeer die je ook kan verwachten 'kijk ons eens goed zijn'. Dat vond ik niet fijn. Bediening was iets te hautain. Maar goed, waarschijnlijk vinden anderen dit juist leuk.

Two star Michelin restaurant that absolutely deserves its rating! A gastronomic delight. We had an amazing 7 course menu with wine pairing that was out of this world. The staff were so attentive to our every need and were so knowledgeable about the menu and the sommelier regaled us with details of the wines we enjoyed. One of the best dining experiences of my life.

Simply delicious, fresh fries with mayo. A little more mayo wouldn't have been a problem. The service was friendly, and the food was delivered promptly. The only thing missing was an easily accessible restroom for guests. I'm guessing that's difficult because it's a historic building.

We had some delicious fries. I had the Dirty Fries Chili Cheese, recommended by Gio and Mara, and it was a hit. Great location, cozy atmosphere, and really good fries as a base! I'll be back when I'm in the area.

We had a well-organized drinks reception and subsequent dinner. Certainly not cheap, but the quality of the food and drinks was generally very good; the tuna on papadum, in particular, was a hit with everyone. The atmosphere was great. The music was nice and set the mood, but it was also quite audible, so it's less suitable for those who have trouble with that. We'll definitely be back.
