Had a delicious meal in a cozy atmosphere and on comfortable chairs! A success once again!

Had a delicious meal, beautiful restaurant and very atmospheric. I have definitely been there several times. They were quite quick clearing up; I still had half a salmon on my plate and a fairly full bowl of fries, and the waiter came over to ask, "Are you finished eating?" Which is a bit of a shame, since we like to linger at the table. Otherwise, an excellent restaurant, and the owner is also a super nice guy who clearly enjoys his work ☺️

We had a nice meal. The round table was a bit cramped for 6 people, though. It was a shame that the ice cream was already gone by the time the coffee was served to the others with dessert. And we even had to ask for it!

We had a wonderful evening at this restaurant. The weather was beautiful and we were able to sit outside at a lovely round table. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive; they were very helpful with everything! The food was delicious and the time between courses was also good. The tuna tartare is highly recommended. All in all, we had a very nice evening! If I may offer just one point of criticism, the menus outside were due for an update, but that is the only thing I can think of!

All the food tasted excellent and looked very good too, with great service and friendly staff. However: The fries are and were terribly bad; my guests said they weren't fries but crumbs and tasted bad, and really didn't fit with the otherwise very good dishes.

The reception was polite; there were 13 of us, including 4 teenagers, but everything was organized fantastically. Good food as always. And the service was professional! Several of the staff have been working there for years! That says it all.

We had a delicious meal at De Gouverneur. There was a pleasant atmosphere in the restaurant and the service was good and friendly. It was a pity that on two occasions one of our table guests did not receive a dish, and one person did not have dessert cutlery. It was very busy, though.

A wonderful restaurant for drinks or dinner. The food is always top-notch, and the service is exceptional. My girlfriend has a gluten allergy, and she was given plenty of options to choose from, including gluten-free bread. I love coming here to just relax!

We visit De Gouverneur in Bergen op Zoom quite regularly, and time and again it is a great experience. The lunch menu is highly recommended, but it is also a lovely place to sit for drinks! They take the weather into account very well. Even in slightly colder temperatures, you can sit comfortably under the heated terrace. The staff is friendly and clearly true hospitality professionals; they love their job! Dinner is also always good; compliments to the chefs!

We both had a bavette with cimichurri and the extra scampi to complete the surf & turf. The cimichurri was mainly oil with few herbs. The bavette was a good portion but tough and had a very peculiar taste that I couldn't appreciate. The fries, mayo, and salad were fine. In hindsight, perhaps I should have had a hot meat sandwich.

The food was okay, but the soup was lukewarm with my fish tasting platter. And I finished that one first. Advice: take a copper bowl. The atmosphere is decent; the restaurant is large enough to make it cozy. The staff is very friendly and hospitable.

The staff is friendly and the service is prompt. My table companions were satisfied. I had vitello tornado as a starter. It was dried out. The portions were also very small. The cod was cold and undercooked. I did not like the combination with the thick curry sauce. The ambiance is cozy; we sat on the terrace.

It was more than super!! Those tacos with soft shell crab & beetroot carpaccio were sublime as starters & the fish poke bowl and vegetarian strudel…fantastic! And with those wines…it was absolutely perfect! We'll be back!!

Nice restaurant, good service, pleasant atmosphere, but unfortunately, the cod was barely there on the plate. It tasted okay, but for €27, you only got two tiny pieces of fish. To make sure you were still full, there were plenty of fries, but unfortunately, they weren't crispy. All in all, it wasn't worth the price.

A fine restaurant with ample seating both indoors and outdoors. Had a great meal with generous portions for a reasonable price. I had a tasty Caesar salad, along with separately ordered fried mushrooms and grilled green asparagus, which in hindsight turned out not to be necessary. The service was friendly and efficient. The restaurant is located in the building that became the official residence of the city's military governor in 1600. Hence the name.

The young waitstaff doesn't yet notice when someone wants something. They stand around chatting more than being attentive. Otherwise, the food is fine and the atmosphere is comfortable.

We had to wait a very long time for our dishes, and had to ask three times where everything was. The vegetables with the sea bass were cold. We were sitting outside by the entrance. Fine, except that 3 guests from inside came and stood right near us to smoke. That's not pleasant as a non-smoker. Maybe reserve a spot for smokers on the terrace or just next to the hedge on the other side of the Gouverneur. So not on the Zuivelstraat side. I think there was a rat catcher and a can of whipped cream there yesterday. Haha

We were back on July 26th; the table was great and the service was good. The price-quality ratio is good, but with the service they need to pay close attention to which dish is medium, medium rare, or bleu. That went wrong for a moment; otherwise, we are looking forward to Christmas and will be eating there with our whole family 👍

Nice restaurant, but there is one thing that ruins it, and that is the old, wrinkled man who works there. I don't know if he's the boss, but when you see this: improve your behavior towards people; we see and notice everything. Next time, I'm definitely going to say something about it.

While looking for a restaurant on the way home, we happened to end up at De Gouverneur. We were very surprised by the delicious food, the enormous portion size (!!), the friendly and funny service, and the beautiful building (don't forget the visit to the restroom). Highly recommended if you want to go home without being hungry. A small downside for us (if we have to mention something) is that smoking is allowed on the terrace (but well, that is simply in accordance with the rules and we are just picky eaters who find smoking terribly disgusting).

It was our first time eating here, but we will definitely come back.

I had reserved for 3 people, but when you arrive you have to pick out a table that is available; it is a shame that the staff doesn't reserve a table so that you get a nice one. Otherwise, the food was good.

We ordered a Spa Red and a draft wheat beer. We were supposed to pay €17.25. We gave €18 and then realized that this couldn't be right. We asked the person who had served us. His first reaction was that that was a normal amount for a water and a beer. He went to check anyway and came back with €5 in cash. No explanation or apology. We left, but on the way back in the car, it still didn't sit right. We looked at the price list: the Spa Red was €3.25. So the beer was €9?? We called and asked for an explanation. The answer was that this beer (Heineken White on tap) costs €9.50. But apparently, we paid €9. Anyway, ridiculously expensive and/or were we ripped off despite getting the €5 back??

The food is good and the portions are more than sufficient. The atmosphere (also on the terrace) is good and the service is fine too. We did have to ask for the bill ourselves, and my dessert was served to the other two at the table too long after the coffee. That was unpleasant. That dessert was also a bit disappointing. I had expected more from it. It was a scoop of ice cream with some cookie crumbs and a small bowl of crème brûlée. I think it could have been presented more nicely than by putting everything on one plate.

We had a delicious meal, and even though it was nearly 40 degrees outside, the temperature inside was very pleasant. Respect to the staff who had to make it all work in this heat. We gladly forgive them for forgetting a drink for our guest, who arrived a little later, on two separate occasions.

Had a green tea on the terrace. My husband had a cappuccino, unfortunately it was lukewarm. He wasn't offered a new one. Couldn't they react differently next time? Maybe the machine is set to too low a temperature? If you need to use the toilet, there are some nice items to be found when you walk downstairs. Nice place inside. Way too expensive for what you get

We had a nice evening at the Gouverneur. We were served very kindly. However, incorrect orders were regularly passed by our table, but these were not charged.

Had a lovely lunch with friends on the spacious terrace. I had Mediterranean stir-fried mussels. Delicious with fresh whole wheat bread and salted butter.

The plates were not served at the same time... the rice in the poke bowl was floating in the water..... the sole fillets were reheated in the microwave..... Definitely not worth any stars. Note: I have since received an apology from the owner with the message that we are entitled to a dinner for 2. I asked if he would be willing to donate this dinner to people who are not well-off. He will take care of that. Kudos.

Beautiful restaurant, tastefully decorated. There was certainly nothing to complain about regarding the food; it was simply good. We only found the music a little on the loud side. But all in all, we give the overall experience a 9.5.

We had a delicious meal and made use of the share dining. There were two of us, and we received three scallops. That makes sharing a bit more difficult. Why not serve scallops individually, like with the oysters?

Plenty of choice, especially among the starters to share! But also delicious main courses!
