De Heksenketel in Beekbergen en omgeving

Was smooth, friendly staff, running and hardworking, nice atmosphere, a real brown pub, now nicely decorated, we 2026.

Last week, I emailed to make a reservation. I received a reply stating that they do not take reservations and that walk-ins are welcome, but that things move quickly and it is sometimes just a short wait. Fine so far. However, our experience upon entering was anything but welcoming. When I asked if there was a table available for 7 people, I was told, "Yes, you just have to check what is available." There was nothing available inside, so in short, we had to sit on the terrace. However, it was raining, and the parasols that had been put out didn't help matters. The rain came right under them. Not exactly pleasant when your food gets wet. When I glanced inside anyway, I did see tables marked as reserved. I walked to the bar and referred back to my email stating that no reservations were being accepted, but that I now saw tables marked as reserved. The man behind the bar came across as a truly arrogant guy who was not hospitable at all, and he just shrugged his shoulders as if to say, "Who cares!" (Is this because we aren't regulars and it's a real village pub, that 'everyone knows everyone' kind of thing?) He also added, "Yes, but they reserved a buffet, and we make exceptions for that." To which I replied, "Oh, so if you reserve a buffet, you get priority and are allowed to make a reservation." "Yes," he answered, shrugging his shoulders, "that's pretty much what it comes down to." We left!

Don't expect haute cuisine and all sorts of frills, but the food is just fine. In terms of portion size as well as quality and taste. And all that for a good price.

Cozy atmosphere, not big inside, but a large outdoor terrace where you can sit comfortably with a coffee or a beer. Food is also available; lunch or dinner is possible. Not an extensive menu, but everything is served nicely. Friendly staff and service.

Midday on the terrace. Even though it was quite busy, we had our coffee within five minutes. The food arrived 5 minutes later. Absolutely delicious, very affordable. Highly recommended 👍🏻

Nice cafe, it's a shame that smoking is still allowed on the terrace. They could do something about that, create a smoking area. They could enjoy each other's company and enjoy the smoke.

What a lovely experience! The food was excellent. The service was impeccable. Just a cozy pub with good food. Great music; we even heard a snatch of the Feyenoord anthem, haha. A great way to start... we'll be regulars. Hats off!

The satay dish was fantastic. Good meat, perfect satay sauce, and excellent fries. The salad completed the meal. I just don't need that slice of canned pineapple on top. Otherwise, it was truly delicious.

I've been coming here since the nineties, so I think that says it all about what kind of place this is! People come from far and wide for the famous Witch's Satay, but a simple drink at the bar or on the terrace is also great. You can watch sports matches, and during the summer months (July and August), the Veluwe Market takes place every Thursday. Then the "Heks" is definitely the place to be! In short, I highly recommend this place! 😊

A brown café with honest food for honest money. Wide selection of special beers. You don't come here for culinary highlights. But if you stay ordinary long enough, you will automatically become special.

Three star restaurant seekers better move on but if you want an uncomplicated hearty meal in a cozy cafe with sixties music that is also brought with a smile, then yes, you are in the right place here. Price quality ratio is fine.

We have been coming here for years. And why do you ask yourself? Well, it is quite simple, here you can just have a nice meal for an amazing price. Simply good and tasty for little. A village living room where there is always something to do. Bustle and coziness.

Cozy brown café with billiards, large terrace and delicious food (particularly recommended spare rib sandwich). Very friendly and hospitable staff. Definitely coming back here when I'm in the area.

Super gezellig dorpscafé waar iedereen elkaar kent en tegen komt, althans die indruk wordt wel gewekt als je daar als buitenstaander aan tafel zit om een heerlijk prima verzorgde maaltijd te nuttigen. Voor ons was het perfect, gezellige sfeer en geen capstones maar gewoon gezellig en niet moeilijk. Top en een aanrader om lekker te eten en een pilsje

A real recommendation for lovers of real Dutch pubs. Unfortunately I can't rate the food because I haven't eaten here yet. But everything looks really good.

Lovely terrace outside. Cozy brown pub inside. Nice beers and good snacks. The service was super pleasant. We had the honor that 3 buses full of Hercules supporters made a stopover. What a beautiful club of supporters. No problems whatsoever and the atmosphere remained great despite the various refreshments. Compliments!!!

It's good outside (terrace). Inside you have to love it. Inside is just a pub and I don't find it pleasant to eat. Prices for lunch and dinner are very good.

Lovely to sit outside for lunch. No problem at all sharing 12 hours, which is far too big for us. Just an extra plate and cutlery. Smooth and very friendly service and the food was simply delicious. So if you are in the area and fancy a drink or something to eat, this is a great location.

Very nice terrace in the center of Beekbergen. We had a nice drink here. Didn't eat, but some delicious looking meals passed by. Friendly staff.

Arrived unexpectedly during a bike ride and then ate and drank incredibly well! Spare ribs sandwich: recommended! Heksenketel burger menu was really good and the chicken satay was so incredibly tender... really delicious! Compliments to the service and the atmosphere in the café. Keep it up. And to visitors: come in and take a seat! You won't regret it.
