A lovely place to enjoy a tasty bite with family and friends, indoors, outdoors, or in the conservatory. For lunch or dinner. The surroundings invite you to take a short walk in between. Children can entertain themselves in the play garden or with the pedal boats. Elderly guests should be aware that it is still quite a walk from the parking lot to the restaurant. There are two disabled parking spaces in front of the restaurant. This place is highly recommended, also for large groups. It can get very busy, so booking in advance is usually necessary if you are coming with a large group.

A very cozy place to eat in beautiful surroundings, with a view of the water and the park from the terrace. The service was friendly and helpful, and the dishes tasted delicious, beautifully presented with regional products. We ordered the Heroes' Lunch Platter and the portion was more than sufficient for a good price. However, it was clearly noticeable that it was busy; it sometimes took a little longer for the dishes to arrive. Otherwise, highly recommended, especially for lunch or dinner in an atmospheric setting. There is a nice playground for the kids, and you can even rent a rowboat.

Everything was very well taken care of and we were very satisfied. I have one point of attention. There were some chairs and a table in front of the emergency exit/escape door. In the event of a real emergency, this is highly undesirable. Also, if I saw correctly, there was a curtain hanging in front of the escape door. I believe this is not allowed either.

Lovely menu for a delicious lunch or dinner. Beautiful terrace by the water at a nostalgic location for the older generation among us.

We held our wedding here and it was fantastic. From the ceremony to the barbecue, and from the toast to the evening party. In one word: amazing. They take the stress out of your celebration so you can fully enjoy it. Thanks in part to these heroes, it was the most beautiful day of our lives.

We had lunch at De Helden van Kien for the first time; we chose the Helden lunch platter. It was delicious and more than enough. We will definitely be coming here more often.

A very nice place to eat and very good service

Aside from the location, the food, and the atmosphere, there is one thing I want to mention as a terrible downside: when you call—thank you for that—you get an impersonal AI on the line... awful. And I know... it's all part of the times, but my god, how unwelcoming this is, as if they want to say: go ahead and make that reservation, we don't do anything welcoming; really a shame.

It takes me a 45-minute drive, but for the second time I treated my family (who don't live next door either and also think it's worth the effort) to an all-you-can-eat experience at De Helden van Kien. What a setting, what class in terms of food and service. Well worth the effort. We will be back!

The lady at the entrance was not very friendly or nice; she was curt when asked if we could sit outside. If there is no room, that is fine, but it was the tone in which it was said that was not decent. The rest of the staff were exceptionally friendly, and so we were able to move to another table after lunch to chat and have a drink for a bit. The food was good, and we will definitely make a reservation next time.

Celebrated our '45 years together' at De Helden I had reserved a table for lunch outside, but it was a Sunday with a lot of showers. So we were able to sit in the conservatory. 6 adults, 2 children aged 6 and 9, and an 8-month-old baby. High chair available and coloring pages for the kids. And in between the showers, they were still able to enjoy playing in the large nature playground. The food was top-notch; everyone was enjoying it. We were asked often if everything was to our liking, and the drinks were brought quickly. The desserts were also a hit! 😋. Compliments to the chefs and the waitresses; it was a super cozy and delicious lunch.

A really nice concept: choosing unlimited small versions of the dishes on the menu.

We were well served by a very nice gentleman with an eyebrow piercing. I wanted to grab a quick cappuccino, but since there were two of us, two cookies were still placed on the table. Fantastic!!!

Great location, poor value for money..soup was lukewarm, portobello too salty. It tastes better at home. We ate here 3 years ago as well..we were disappointed this time..we weren't happy with the choice of 3 menu options either.. won't be going to De Helden van Kien for the time being..

Yesterday we had time again to make memories. The Heroes of Kien helped out tremendously with that, among other things by reserving a table for us where there were fewer stimuli for one of us. A huge thank you. The service was very friendly and the food was exquisite. So, worth repeating.

We had opted for a shared dinner; we had been very pleased with it on previous occasions. The presentation of the food was poor; everything looked like it had been thrown onto a board. We are not used to this from you! The food was very substandard, regarding the starter, main course, and dessert; the taste was also poor. The service was friendly and professional.

A good place with terribly rude employee.

It was a disappointing evening. First, the disappointment that you cannot choose from different options at a table. Of course: logistically understandable, but very customer-unfriendly. Furthermore, we noticed that while this tapas concept is logistically well-organized (fast serving of ordered tapas), everything is 'reheated'. Three times a dish was sent back because it was lukewarm to almost cold. It was rectified immediately, but still. No, we would much rather have a classic menu where the chefs prepare your dish in the kitchen.......

Had a delicious lunch; ordered a lunch platter for two, highly recommended. Compliments to the chef; normally I don't like zucchini soup, but this one was delicious. Also on the platter were delicious salmon and carpaccio focaccia, a pulled chicken wrap, and a spicy chicken salad. We enjoyed it immensely, as well as the friendly and numerous young staff; we will definitely be back.

I had dinner at De Helden van Kien with my two children. The food was good, and when the weather is nice, sitting outside on the terrace is great. What I found difficult is that you have to decide in advance whether to go for the 'all you can eat' concept for €47 or just order à la carte. If you are visiting for the first time, you don't know how big the portions are. I had to figure out with the children whether this concept would suit them. I went à la carte for the kids, because my daughter, at least, would never reach the €18.50 mark. And indeed, my daughter had had enough after just one dish. My son could manage more dishes, but together they had to order either à la carte or 'all you can eat'. Anyway, we had a nice evening, but I find it a hassle to deal with different concepts due to costs and time management. With 'all you can eat', you sit there much longer, and by then the children are long finished. I would prefer lower prices and smaller portions, as tapas are meant to be, or larger portions, as à la carte is meant to be.

Choice and quality was excellent at areasonable price. Our second visit and just as good as the first.

It was pleasant. The food was good, but occasionally no longer warm. The staff was nice but were too busy at a certain moment.

The food was average and the service was just bad, and nobody noticed us sitting there; we waited 2 hours.

Beautiful spot in nature, nice terrace, nice menu. I ordered a goat cheese salad. It was (just like last time) very generously portioned. You really get a full plate! I was disappointed that the menu stated it would include yellow beetroot, which was not the case; I was also not told that it was out of stock or anything like that. That would have been nice. Otherwise, definitely recommended.

Nice location and friendly staff, but young, and in any case, they couldn't explain to us that it was better not to eat à la carte. Because unfortunately, I found the price-quality ratio very disappointing. You can order à la carte at normal restaurant prices, but you still get very small portions due to the tapas concept. Additionally, the flavors weren't special either. A shame; you expect much more from a place like this.

Everyone in our group of 12 was satisfied. We will come back more often.

Helden can Kien is a cozy location with good food. We were there yesterday for lunch with 12 people. However, the service was extremely disappointing. We were served our first drink after 45 minutes. In fact, it went on like this the entire afternoon, with us having to wait an incredibly long time; it is a shame. They are missing out on a lot of revenue this way.

Unprecedented quality in a superb setting with extremely friendly service that serves a full terrace quickly and professionally.

On a very hot day in June, we had lunch with 22 people, including 4 children under the age of 10. Our tables were placed inside near the air conditioning. There were two tables, but that wasn't a problem. Thanks to planters, we still had a secluded spot. We were given the opportunity to decorate the tables ourselves with various items befitting the occasion being celebrated. Because we were such a large group, we all had to order the same dish, which ultimately wasn't a problem at all because we had chosen the Heroes Lunch Platter, and it contained various small dishes, allowing everyone to choose what they wanted to eat. We had vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free diets for 7 people. This was also well taken care of and, according to the guests, delicious. After lunch, the children could play and row outside, and the other guests enjoyed a lovely after-dinner drink with various specialty beers. In short, it was a very successful lunch that we look back on with pleasure.

Had delicious, incredibly large goat cheese and a luxurious fish salad. A nice glass of wine with it, what more could a person want 😋 The price is lower than at other restaurants.

Great place to sit, great food. Worthless staff. It started with an ice cream. The young lady clearly didn't feel like making the ice cream. Moreover, you got very little ice cream... anyway, that's bad enough. Afterwards, we had a nice beer on the beautiful terrace, after which we decided to have dinner there. When we asked the young lady for the menu, she indicated that we couldn't stay seated on the downstairs terrace. We were the only ones sitting there, by the way. Because I found that quite strange, I decided to ask inside why we weren't allowed to eat there, and if perhaps an exception could be made. The lady behind the bar couldn't tell me why it wasn't allowed. It was her tone that I didn't like. No understanding or apology whatsoever. Just: "it's not allowed, I was ordered to do so from above." Total lack of empathy for the customer; in fact, the lady in question got into an argument... and was very rude. Never again the "heroes" of Kien for us.

The place is very nice and can sit ,relax and enjoy. But they have a bad service,the waitress doesn't want even to take orders I walk inside to if I can get help they didn't show up .

We were guests at a wedding on June 27th and it was, in a word, amazing. A solid 10.

I was at Pop&Color yesterday. There was a fun drumming clinic with Cesar Zuiderwijk. Well organized and fun to watch.

Top location. We thoroughly enjoyed the sophisticated menu. We tried several dishes and (almost) all were perfect. I would have liked a fish knife for the sole, and I couldn't find the pepper sauce for the tenderloin with pepper sauce. Some of the oysters had small pieces of shell in them. But all in all, the six of us tried about 30 dishes, and the other 27 were perfect. The same goes for the service: friendly, occasionally with a joke, efficient, and prompt. There was also a wedding, so we had a slightly longer break between main courses, but certainly not excessively. And yes, the surroundings were beautiful and the atmosphere was very pleasant. It was a bit chilly, but the patio heaters didn't bother us. And... finally (I consider that a calling card), the restrooms were beautiful and very clean.

Unfortunately, I had to ask for the menu myself; the staff were too busy chatting with each other and weren't paying attention to the service. So I ordered a main course for €14.50, far too little food for a main course. I ordered dessert for myself, namely Liège water, with cherries, ice cream, and a waffle. I got one canned cherry, one tiny scoop of ice cream, and a mini waffle on a small plate, all for €6. Afterward, I said something to the staff that there were cherries (plural) on the menu. I got an indifferent response, like, "I'll pass it on to the kitchen, well, they won't be seeing me again."

It was fully booked. I took a chance and luckily found one table available just beforehand. It turned out they'd blocked it off to ensure a good staff-to-guest ratio. We opted for sophisticated food. Portions were more than generous. Nothing to complain about.

"Sophisticated dining"—what a beautiful concept! It was delicious. Plenty of choices, something for everyone. And you have the opportunity to try everything. Certainly not huge portions, but rather multiple dishes. Everything was beautifully presented on the plate, a feast for the eyes. Furthermore, the service and the setting made the evening a success.

The concept is very unclear; you can choose "all you can eat" or à la carte. The only difference is the price. With "all you can eat," you have a fixed price, while with à la carte, you pay per dish. These are the same small dishes as with "all you can eat," and they're all served immediately. As a result, I got an appetizer, and my wife and son got the main course. That would mean I would be the only one getting a main course, and my family would have to wait until I finished eating. We didn't find this very pleasant, so we ordered dessert together, and I went home hungry and with an unpleasant evening. You could also order a chared dinner. We thought this would be a nice way for my wife and me to try different dishes together. But this was only possible if my son also wanted to eat this, but he wanted a different dish. We found this concept very unclear! And during this entire time, they never once asked us if we wanted a drink! So, we wouldn't recommend it! But honestly, what we did eat was really delicious!

What a fantastic spot! The large terrace overlooks the canoe pond and playground. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and efficient. The poke bowl was delicious! So was the goat cheese salad and flammkuchen.

We had a wonderful evening! The restaurant's organization was incredibly well-thought-out, including the way orders were taken. The quality of the food was excellent, and the selection was fantastic. We had someone who eats gluten-free and vegan, and that was perfectly taken care of. If we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely be back.

The location is beautiful on the edge of the Kienehoef nature park. The terrace was quite full, but the staff were always quick to take orders, bring food and drinks, etc. Kudos to them for that. We ate à la carte, and they mention that the portions are smaller than usual. With a few side dishes, it was sufficient, delicious, and affordable. We had a pleasant few hours!

Beautiful location. Too far to walk for people with disabilities or the elderly. I was there with an elderly person who had difficulty walking. There was a disabled restroom on the same floor. All other restrooms were downstairs, down a narrow spiral staircase.

At De Helden van Kien they have created a beautiful nature park in which a petting zoo (with delicious coffee and cookies) and several playgrounds have been realized. Both toddlers and slightly older children can do well here. After we had visited the playgrounds and went back to the restaurant via the ferry over the water, we concluded our visit with a lunch. I had a luxury fish salad that was very good.

Ate a truly delicious 4-course surprise menu here via Social Deal. Extremely tasty, a feast for the mouth and eyes! So the low rating is certainly not the chef's fault; pure compliments for the chef! But what we were not happy with was that the waitress (otherwise a very sweet girl) completely forgot about us between the soup and the main course. After an hour and fifteen minutes of patient waiting, she finally caught her attention. Turns out she forgot to enter it into the computer. Ultimately received 2 drinks on the house as an apology. So in itself a good solution, but... not really a good turn. As far as food is concerned, it is highly recommended. It is extremely remote, accessible via narrow winding roads, so without Social Deal we would never have ended up here spontaneously. The restaurant looks large, but because it has all the corners, you are not sitting in a massive room. It looked nice.
