We went there 11:45 am and have been told that no breakfast was available because of a big order. We staied there some days before and there we had no problem and the food was good.

Awesome spot. Very small restaurant but well appointed and the outdoor space is great. Even though it rained most of the afternoon, the outside was well covered and we didn’t get wet. They have a bunch of South African classics and the owner is super chilled and happy to adjust the menu if you need anything for an allergy.

Great food & service & not to forget the excellent (South African) Piekenierskloof Wines offered. The Grenache Blanc is probably the best white wine I ever had !

The combination of European and South African dishes (and fine wines) allows for both everyday and unusual choices. The service is friendly and attentive, but never intrusive. The atmosphere is cozy, welcoming, and international. It's a truly enjoyable stop in a unique location. The owner's impeccable fire-red Renault 4 is a beautiful mascot: character and purity combined with unadorned pride of ownership guarantee a pleasant visit time and time again, one you'll remember fondly. A place you'll love to be and return to!

What a wonderful South African sphere with delicious food. A home made chilli sauce was the highlight for me. Looking forward to go there again soon.

Nice place to have a snack. We ordered bitterballen and shrimp tempura (a lot of tempura and little shrimp) and the famous chicken sandwich. Pretty good but not generous. I asked if the potatoes were homemade, he said yes but they were frozen. The table was dirty when we arrived and I had to ask them to clean it. The cleaning was not very good but the two young people who tend the terrace are very friendly. The homemade lemonade is very expensive for what it is. Generally good.

Small, charming café directly opposite the International Court of Justice. We had a fluffy chocolate bun and a really good coffee – both highly recommended. Friendly service and relaxed atmosphere.

Service top. Food; really home made, delicious. It is cosy, close to the beach of Scheveningen by tram or a short walk. Next to the Scheveningse Bosjes, a park for a stroll. We had a nice lunch and excellent late night dinner.

Pleasant family business. Fresh products. Heated seats outside. Always a smile, tasty soups and delicious chicken sandwiches. Ideal pit stop on the way to the city or the beach!! Oh yes: clean toilets. We'll be back.

Loved this place! Not only they have amazing coffee, but the owners are super kind and warm. We felt at home. The food 10 points! I even forgot the bottle warmer for my baby and the owner helped me without hesitation for a quick solution. We will definitely come back next time we visit The Hague!

I sought refuge at De Oude Tol when a heavy rain started to fall. What a lovely surprise this café proved to be! Not only did the delightful coffee and a delicious meal warm me up, but the owners took time to have a lovely conversation with me while I waited for the weather to change as well. Huge recommendation!

I discovered this establishment through my colleagues, and since then, I have been regularly enjoying it. Today, I had a Boerewors roll, and it was a delightful taste experience. The food is great, the products are fresh, and the staff is very friendly and smiling. I highly recommend it.

Very friendly staff and great location. The weather was nice enough to sit outside in their charming patio space. I had brunch with a friend and the menu had a good range of choices. I had the avocado toast with an egg and it was very tasty! I would go there again.

Our go-to place for a tasty breakfast or lunch for a good price with a relaxed atmosphere. Also a nice place for a coffee and cake. I often find myself craving the red cappuccino, if you’re not a coffee drinker like myself I would definitely recommend (or if you do drink coffee this is also still worth a try) 😄 With plenty of yummy choices on the menu I would def recommend this place

Best stopover in The Hague - friendly family business - owner, takes time for his guests - gave us valuable tips for visiting The Hague - the food includes rustic South African cuisine - would be happy to come again at any time. Recommendation: Order a Blue Gin Tonic, which was exceptionally mild and delicious.

We loved this quaint little cafe, our server was wonderful, food was good, and wine was great. If I lived here I would visit this place at least twice a week. I believe the owner helped out and he was just friendly as his wait staff.

I came here with a friend who wanted to try the place after knowing that a new management took over. The owner who is South African was friendly and recommended the Biltong Caprese Salad which was not in the menu. It was delicious. My friend who is vegetarian enjoyed her Humus Sandwich. We sat outside and enjoyed not just looking at the Peace Palace, but our coffee and the food. The prices and portions are good. And if you go inside to pay you will be able to read the poster explaining the history and why it is called De Oude Tol. I will be returning alone or with friends.

Delicious food! From the chicken mayo sandwich, tomato soup to the bitterballen, everything we ate was top notch. We really enjoyed that homemade chili sauce that came with that chicken mayo, and would recommend this to everyone. Nice patio that fills up quick for lunch, so come ready with an open mind and empty stomach. It’s worth sharing items on the menu with friends. Very friendly team. The owners just opened shop two months ago; I wish them the very best.
