We have been coming here for years and it remains a lovely spot! 🥞 Delicious pancakes with many different variations, a beautiful view of the sea, and always friendly staff. Highly recommended if you are in Scheveningen! 🌊

Wow! What a place, what food, and what lovely staff! Best spot in Scheveningen, I will definitely be back more often! On the terrace, you sit wonderfully in the sun and get a great view of the spectacular bungee jumps and ziplines of all those daredevils! I would never do it myself, but it is fantastic to watch. We had a tasty toasted sandwich, a chicken platter, and a fantastic cheese pancake here. Can't wait to sit here for another day.

Beautiful view of the sea. Had a nice lunch. We did have to wait a long time to be served, even though there were hardly any people there. They stood behind the bar chatting for a long time.

Worst experience. Avoid. Shocking and unacceptable behavior from the staff. I visited De Pier Pannenkoeken & Grill with my friends on Sunday, July 5th. Around 19:30, as we were leaving the restrooms inside, a worker by asking us in a highly derogatory, inappropriate comment about our personal cleanliness. When I stared him down, he cowardly averted his eyes. This crude, racist stereotyping targeting minorities is entirely unacceptable. Management has been contacted with the exact time and physical description of the employee to check their security cameras and rosters. We will never step foot here again. UPDATE: Management e-mailed us claiming they "do not recognize" the tall employee on their text rooster and tried to blame the incident on workers from the neighbouring bungee jump attraction. They are actively deflecting the blame instead of checking their indoor bar security cameras. Unprofessional targeting of minority guests is entirely unacceptable. We will never step foot here again.

Great food, the pancakes are delicious, not those sticky floury ones but really tasty. The beef tenderloin satay is highly recommended. Also, enjoying the view. We sat outside on relaxed benches.

We came here because the website stated that the pancakes could be made gluten-free. After the meal, my mother-in-law became very ill following a gluten attack. We suspect they might have made a mistake in the kitchen, but it completely ruined our day. It is lousy when you can't even trust a restaurant regarding information about allergies. I therefore do not recommend anyone with celiac disease to eat here; save yourself a day of vomiting and diarrhea...

Found this restaurant right at the end of the Pier. Beautiful view, and the food was better than expected. A Coke at €3.90 is pricey, but the soup and main course are reasonably priced and the portions are good. It wasn't busy.

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding my visit to your establishment on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at approximately 15:30. During payment, the waitress behaved in an unprofessional and disrespectful manner. She placed my change on the bar in a rude way and did not return the full amount. It appears that my polite “thank you” was incorrectly interpreted as an intention to leave a tip. When I requested the remaining change, she responded with visible irritation and threw the coins onto the counter. Following this incident, I asked to speak with a manager and requested a formal complaint form so that I could submit my concerns in writing. The manager refused to provide any such form and declined to register my complaint. Instead, I was offered a free glass of water and was told that any complaint would have no consequences. Additionally, the manager made an inappropriate remark suggesting that the waitress “usually has such an angry expression,” which I find unacceptable. I would like to point out that under Dutch consumer protection principles, including standards derived from the Dutch Civil Code (Burgerlijk Wetboek, Book 6) and general duty-of-care obligations, businesses are expected to handle customer complaints seriously and provide a reasonable opportunity for customers to submit them.

Perfectly good service and food while I was seated. I had a gluten free pancake which was nice. Unfortunately I have to reduce my rating because while paying for the bill I asked for a glass of tap water before I left. At which point the barman asked the waitress (in Dutch, I had dealt in English with her up to this point) if I had tipped on my bill. I had not and was not even given the option for tipping as she handed me the card reader with the bill amount already filled in for me to tap. In the end the whole staff were saying 'no tip, no water' in English fully in front of me, what a bizarre experience. I have now read other reviews on here with similar difficulties ordering tap water which is normally not a problem in any other Dutch restaurant I have visited. And in my experience tipping is also not expected anywhere else for a quick stop for coffee and cake.

A really nice place to sit. I discovered this spot half a year ago after so many visits to Scheveningen and the Pier. And now I've gone for a drink a few times. What I really appreciate is that the staff isn't pushy. What a relief compared to other places. It makes absolutely no difference whether you just have a drink or order something to eat. Furthermore, the staff is very friendly, professional, and helpful. The menu is extensive, and on our last visit, we also had something to eat. I was a bit hesitant to try a savory pancake, but it was very tasty. The mini pancakes with fruit were also delicious, as was the mocktail. So, definitely recommended.

At the end of the pier, a great view over the North Sea, good food and very friendly service...I'll be back.

Good for poffertjes. The restaurants condition is questionable and the seatcovers were ripping apart. Service is friendly. The toilets could be cleaner and there was a weird smell of old frying oil.

The food is good. No issues at all with the quality or taste. Not even the price was an issue. The restaurant staff refuses tap water because it will “hurt their profit margins.” I was in tbr process of ordering 4 drinks for the table and 3 meals. The smell of the perfumery they use in this establishment is overkill. Between the refusal for tap water and the constant barrage of perfumery it’s getting a 2 stars. I never take time to review so this is more of a principle of the matter from me. We will take our money elsewhere from now on.

Simply good food, service, atmosphere, highly recommended, especially the tuna.

We had a delicious and extensive brunch/breakfast here for a reasonable price. All the ingredients were fresh, the service was friendly, and the view of the sea was fantastic. A great way to start a day in The Hague.

It was actually quite nice. FOOD Well, everything except the price, haha. 15 euros for a few pancakes with cream and strawberries is quite something. Especially when the same thing without strawberries only costs around 11 euros. I think the price difference is a bit excessive for what you ultimately get. It tasted good, though, and the pancakes were nice and fluffy. We were stuffed after eating, so it's definitely filling. If you're not into American pancakes, they also have classic pancakes or the Dutch version called poffertjes. Or you can go all out with the all-you-can-eat option. I actually think the selection they offer is really nice. SERVICE A server arrived quickly, and we were well looked after throughout. AMBIENCE In good weather, it must be wonderful to sit on the terrace and look out at the sea. Even on a rainy day like ours, there was a certain atmosphere. Aside from that, the restaurant's decor wasn't anything special, but it was still cozy. The same can be said for the restrooms. Comfortable, but nothing groundbreaking. It wouldn't hurt to go here for pancakes, I guess. Provided the price isn't a problem.

Nice restaurant at end of the pier with a great view and some tasty brews. Understand it’s a “pancake” place but it was dinner time and I opted for the ‘fried zucchini, sun-dried tomato, and goat cheese dinner salad. Wrong salad was delivered and I finally got a server to take it back. It came back with zucchini only so never got the salad I ordered. Frustrating since I pointed at and described the salad multiple times…

Nice place to watch the sea and not expensive

My girlfriend has a gluten allergy and ate a gluten-free pancake here today. When she got home, she didn't feel well and is now sick in bed! Unfortunately, the pancake was NOT gluten-free!

A very nice place to sit. The staff was super friendly. No problem with dogs either. We had the apple pie. It was really delicious.

Quite commercial, but that's to be expected given the location. We searched for "child-friendly restaurant" on Google Maps and found this place. Indeed, there's a play area for the kids. Although my son thought there were too many "girly things" 😂. There's also a changing table. It is expensive, though, and the food quality is mediocre. A single portion of poffertjes (about 10 poffertjes) is €8.50, and all other sweets are also more expensive than average. However, there's also a chicken platter for two on the menu, and for €23 you get a huge pile of chicken, fries, and sauces. That's a good deal, though. We also had chicken soup, which wasn't very good, and bread with tomato tapenade. The bread had been in the oven too long and was rock hard. The staff was friendly 👍, and there was a young man who made a joke about a licked sandwich; humor is appreciated.

We had a fantastic meal, and the service was very friendly. Both our children, aged 1 and 3, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Someone needs to tell people here that cleaning products can be diluted. The pungent smell was bearable for a cup of coffee, but definitely not for much longer.

Everything below WAS true, but it's going downhill fast. New review: Friday, September 17, 2025. Do you know a restaurant that closes at dinnertime? On Fridays, so weekends, they also close at 7 p.m. We arrived at 6 p.m. and they were already sweeping. With only an hour left, you can't sit quietly. When we eat somewhere, we sit there for at least two hours, sometimes longer. So, in effect, they close at 5 p.m. for people who want to sit and enjoy a meal. So, that's on the weekend. On Saturdays, they told us, they also close at 7 p.m., but maybe they'll stay open until 7:30 p.m. Disappointed, we went to Big Bell for dinner and spent two and a quarter hours there eating and drinking. On Sunday afternoon, September 28, 2025, we went anyway to enjoy the view. First, a cappuccino. That was in a small coffee cup. A little coffee and a bit of milk foam. Cappuccino should be served in a larger cup. Then I ordered milk chocolate with whipped cream. €7.50, I think. You expect a large cup with a dollop of whipped cream. But it didn't taste like chocolate. It was very watery with a layer of whipped cream. Not good! That for so much money. We paid €17.30 in cash and the male server said, "So no tip?" In my opinion, €7.30 was more than enough, and that was a €10 tip. We were the only guests, so the atmosphere is only two stars. Two more guests joined us later, but the atmosphere was essentially zero stars. This was on a Saturday afternoon, with beautiful weather. When do they close? The food is great, and I'll post some more pictures. But...Closed three out of seven days, and already at 7 p.m. on Monday. No sign on the pier, and nothing even on the door. Many people walk for nothing and knock on their door in disbelief... they can't be closed, can they? I contacted them by email, but they either don't see the need for a note on the door or on the pier, or it's too much trouble. No wonder customers stay away on other days as well. Regular shops and restaurants stay open even when fewer customers come on certain days. Every shop on the pier should be required to stay open until 8 pm, not just 4 out of 7 days. Below is my previous review. Friendly, helpful staff, cozy, and homey. Large glasses for your tea and a wide variety of teas. We had two pancakes today: banana Grand Marnier and rum raisin. They arrived super quickly and were nice and hot. If you each eat half, you can taste both. They were delicious! There are many varieties to choose from. A small tip... the apple slices on the apple pancake could be a bit thicker, so you taste the apple better. Perhaps that also applies to other fruits? Great place, beautiful view, and cozy atmosphere! As you can see, the fried eggs are also very good. Of course, we've been countless times, and now we each had an uitsmijter (fried sandwich). Not the cheapest, but you can taste that. It's a shame they and the others on the pier close so early. Everyone should stay open until at least 8 pm.

Fantastic view of the ocean. Especially in strong winds, you get a great view of seagulls and kite surfers. Top-notch communication!

We ate at De Pier Pannenkoeken and were unfortunately disappointed overall. The pancakes didn't impress us – the batter wasn't very tasty, and the toppings were rather sparse and poorly prepared. The ambiance in the restaurant itself was also uninviting; a renovation would certainly do the whole thing some good. The atmosphere wasn't particularly pleasant. The price is even higher than the options directly on the beach, which we find incomprehensible given the quality. However, we would like to highlight the beautiful view you can enjoy from there.

Personeel toont geen interesse en heeft geen aandacht, alleen voor elkaar. Pannenkoek niet smakelijk moest zelf nog bestek gaan halen, vergeten? Kroketten waren lauw. Bij het afrekenen was de tafel uit het systeem lekker onprofessioneel. 2 sterren voor de locatie en alleen nog de Pier bewonderen en geen pannenkoeken eten.

That arrogant woman who referred a customer to a self-service restaurant ruined it for the others. Doesn't she know that the customer is king? Yuck!!!!!!

Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen. Die "Pannenkoeken" waren sehr lecker, ebenso wie der Kaffee. Mit dem Ausblick konnten wir unser Frühstück sehr genießen.

It wasn’t outright bad. But between staff (mostly unhappy-looking young girls) that was super busy chit chatting and hiding behind the counter with their backs towards guests and cold, bland burger it was a visit to forget. Did I mention that young girls are REALLY good at letting “dear paying guests” know that they are so annoying and needy? Ok, I did now. Ah, the sea view? Passable at best. There’s very little of the interesting beach view on one side and a lot of open sea view, that is kinda everywhere anyway, duh.

We went here for dinner after a movie afternoon. We had a beautiful view of the North Sea. In that respect a top location. The service was very friendly and the restaurant looked neat and atmospheric. The carpaccio was originally prepared and very tasty. There was a lot of truffle mayonnaise on it that was very present. Of course you have to like that but we found it very tasty. Then we had chicken for 2 as a main course. We could hardly finish it and asked for a Doggybag because we thought it was a shame to throw away such tasty chicken. Finally we finished with a delicious Dame Blanche in a large Coup. We will definitely come back here again.

I recently ate a pancake here with a delicious cocktail and what an experience. You really eat at sea with a beautiful view. The girl was also very nice and had a nice chat with me. I can only say that it is a super nice place to sit!

Unfriendly staff and very bad food

I didn't like it at all because of the tasteless drink they brought called lemonade. The atmosphere is good because it's by the sea. It's 27 degrees outside and they only put a tiny piece of ice in my drink. I definitely don't recommend it.

My Scheveningen friends didn't want to believe it at first, but the nice restaurant at the back of the pier now serves disgusting coffee for seven euros and didn't want to do anything about it when I said something about it. Bye. That was the last time. Update: it's disgusting coffee, not tasty coffee. Your coffee with apple pie deal is 5.50 euros. Your coffee was served in the same cup.

Enjoyed a delicious salmon pancake

Een simpele tosti geitenkaas, walnoten en honing en het smaakte geweldig. De wijn was ook lekker en uitzicht op zee en een reddingsboot was aan rondvaren, mooi om te zien. Leuk dat het personeel even de tijd nam voor een praatje.

The perfect place for lunch or a drink by the sea. Especially when you want to avoid the beachgoers.

I made a reservation with a window table days before. I got confirmation. When I arrived a very unfriendly rude unprofessional waitress said yeah just go find a seat. None of the tables by the window were free. The seats were broken, I had to fix myself and the smell in that restaurant was like a fresh lemon smell from the toilets. The toilet doors were broken as well and they left the toilet door open many times….no wonder the smell. But also good news. At least one waitress was very nice and the food was delicious. Hope the Manager reads this post and talks to the tanned waitress with the dark shoulder long hair and fixes the smell in the restaurant.

Only had drinks, however, the views from this restaurant were very good, with sightlines over the North Sea. The service was attentive and friendly.

We entered the restaurant with children, very hungry. We sat down, but no waiters approached us. I went to ask where to get a menu, and they just pointed to where it was without any explanation. We spent about 10 minutes there, staying hungry the whole time. I started looking at the menu and chose pancakes, but then I noticed a small note saying that orders are only taken until 5 PM. I checked the time – it was exactly 17:00. I went to the bar, but they said they were no longer accepting orders. Nowhere at the entrance was it mentioned that after 5 PM they stop taking orders, and the staff didn’t inform us either. When I asked for the menu, they could have at least warned us. We wasted about 10 minutes of our time, stayed hungry, and experienced very poor service. The staff clearly did not fulfill their responsibilities. Very disappointing experience.

Very nice staff, as my 9 year old daughter said "that girl is sweet!" The food was delicious and we were helped well. End time appears to be flexible, when it is busy they stay open longer! Ideal concept, kids and wife enjoying pancakes and Dad enjoying a delicious steak!

Here you clearly pay for the view and location, not for the quality of the food. Unfortunately, the poffertjes are finished products and not homemade, which is what you might expect for the price. The service still made an effort and was quite friendly. The view of the sea is great.

It was a bit overcast morning but dry, and we had a Cappucino and Apple Juice in the restaurant with 5 people on the Pier. Very friendly staff and wheelchair and mobility scooter accessible. Views beautiful from the pier and around outside that you could walk. I will definitely give a good review,

Made an online reservation for New Year's Eve at 5pm. We wanted to eat pancakes with our children. In terms of time, the time slot was still open well after that. Upon arrival (we were there at 4:30 PM), we were told that they had only been open for another half hour?! Indicated that we had made a reservation for 5 p.m. Luckily we were allowed to order anyway... The children had poffertjes with fruit and an American pancake which looked delicious. I had a pancake with brie. I actually got a dry pancake with 4 slices of brie on top, nothing else... Price and quality are hard to find. We then walked to the bar to ask for something to drink. A few more tables had now been added that had also been reserved for dinner. With a deep sigh the order was accepted, but after a long wait we did not receive it. We ended up paying... No less than 70 euros for 4 pancakes and 4 drinks. No thank you and that for this service? Embarrassing!! Not here next time... In response to the response below: No, we were not the table with 8 children... These were across from us...

The pancake was not that tasty and unfortunately greasy. The bacon was not tasty because it was overcooked. However, the location is nice and the waiters were nice.

We have been coming here for years to our complete satisfaction, often for a delicious cup of coffee on Sunday mornings. You can also go here for lunch and dinner. Service oriented and very friendly staff, highly recommended.

the f apple pie guys, pls do urself a favor, order the applepie, i rlly couldn’t care less if they take it fresh outta freezer that thing hits tastebuds i didn’t know about. also note to self: if u don’t like netherlands chocolate, drink it w caramel. they offered that and it was saving my hot choco. the toasts are kindy dry here, but (second hand rating) the pancakes are sexy. the view was also soo.. soo deeply “je ne sais quoi” but hitting. felt like a glimpse of “mrs pilgrims home for peculiar children”.
