The Vlaamsche Reus is now a very well-kept café with beer. The menu is quite extensive. I had the Belgian steak with red pepper sauce, and the hazelnut foam cake. The latter does not need whipped cream, but if you do use it, it should not be something from a spray can. The food was very tasty, the service loving and attentive. The transformation from top ABTbiercafe to café with beer is quite courageous and special. I would like to come back again.

Bediening goed vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Biertjes erg lekker. Eten matig. Stoofpotje viel tegen. Vlees was smakeloos zout en kruidnagel verder niks. Bij het gerecht geen groente alleen friet. De dikbil was prima maar ook daar geen groente bij. Brownie was keihard en droog, cheescake was taai. Vanille-IJs was waterig. Koffie was prima. Op de dikbil na leek alles uit een pakje te komen.

Wonderful place and a household name in Wageningen! Oude Vlaamsche Reus was already great, but new owners have made it even more beautiful and cozy! Attractive decor, friendly service, casual atmosphere, Guinness on tap and the Flemish stew were delicious! See you soon

If you like a nice Belgian beer, this is the place for you. Many varieties on tap. You can also order something tasty with it. We went for stew with fries. Friendly service, top.

Had a delicious lunch (spoofpotje with fries), cozy atmosphere and quick, friendly service

Way too small portions. Belgian stew consisted of 5 small cubes of meat in too much sauce and 8 fries. You pay the top price for it. Salad swimming in vinegar. Wrong sauce served with your dish. Screamy staff.

Good day, what delicious food here! Steak in tip top condition, super tasty sauce, service smooth and friendly, good lighting, nice atmosphere. Desserts are also a work of art, and they are known for the beers, but now also with a really great dinner. Rarely have you eaten so well in Wageningen! We will come back here more often!

Steak truffle and pepper sauce was very tasty! Cooked perfectly. Lots of beer on tap so the choice is great. Heard that they have only been open for a week, so this is a tent with a lot of potential once everyone has settled in!

It is (was) always good to stay in "De Vlaam" as it was known in Wageningen... The beautiful and very wide choice of beers & Carel's inexhaustible knowledge of beers and brewers have amazed me for decades! In addition, it is (was) *always* fun, a wide audience with young and old - and no barriers between them! Literally everyone could have a chat with everyone. But those good times are over for now: As of today (July 19, 2024), Carel and Conny have handed over the café to the new owners, and after more than 40 years they will grow flat feet due to walking a lot 😜 and enjoy a well-deserved retirement!!! Carel and Conny: Wageningen will undoubtedly miss your version of the Flemish, but everyone wishes you health, happiness and peace after all these busy years!!! 🙏🤍 We'll see what comes in return, and it will undoubtedly be quite fun, but will it still be our Flemish?... 😉 We'll see it together, we'll meet again 👍🙏

A beautiful café for young and old. A wonderful range of beers from all over Europe, but as the name suggests, the majority are from Belgium. We enjoyed a number of Belgian triples, but also a delicious neipa from the Kompaan brewery in The Hague. You will always receive very good help and advice in your choice. For a tasty snack, I can recommend the delicious abbey cheese or fuet.

The best beers (with the "beer bible" you have a lot of choice) and the nicest staff (you won't find a second Carel anywhere) in the world. Whether you are a huge beer connoisseur or just want a cozy terrace in Wageningen, you have definitely come to the right place!!

A beautiful café that I have been visiting for years, which specializes in specialty beers. Lots of choice and the owners and staff know what they are selling. Good advice if you just don't know what to do anymore. Good abbey cheeses and tasty sausage to go with it. Sometimes with surprising flavors. Yesterday I was there with the family and Karel (owner) allowed us to eat a steak on his terrace that we ordered at Blauw. How could it be more beautiful these days! TOP!!

Ben je in het (uitgaans)centrum van Wageningen is het zeker de moeite waard eens een bezoekje aan dit café te brengen. Leuk en sfeervol ingericht met zeer ruim aanbod in diverse bieren, waarvan veel kennis is huis. Buiten een ruim terras aanwezig.

I don't know if this is common at similar places, but every time we ran out of drinks we had to let them know because they didn't come to the table on their own. That was the only thing I personally found to be a downside. Furthermore, a very pleasant atmosphere and friendly, knowledgeable staff. We had a good evening!

Nice bottled beers. Relatively few beers on tap for a specialty beer café. The atmosphere is mediocre, quite a lot of light, few cozy corners for a brown café. While it is considerably busier in the summer (because of the terrace), the audience in the winter period consists mainly of Wageningers and melancholic long-term students.
