This is a truly sad and infuriating situation caused by the authorities! We've been coming here for two generations. There's nowhere else quite like it... Just a few hundred meters away, there's a huge ravine and a hole in the woods, but here, on our own property, they're denying us permission to build a few apartments. Typical crazy bureaucracy. It's such a shame, truly very sad.

A bit sleepy. Nice and quiet for relaxing. We ordered something delicious to drink. It tasted good.

Always have a latte there with my MTB, especially now to warm up...coffee is always nice and hot...and always friendly...

On behalf of ODS-Vitaal, we had the pleasure of organizing the ODS-Vitaal Autumn Walk at De Witte Stein. With over 600 walkers, we had a wonderful day. The preparations went smoothly, and we received compliments from the walkers regarding the location, the staff, and the catering. Well done!

Everything is fine, but unfortunately it's overcrowded on nice weekends.

Good place to sit for a while after a walk. Ample parking. Plenty of seating, including a fully covered outdoor area. Friendly and helpful staff. One downside was the latte macchiato. It looked more like a 'coffee with milk' and was lukewarm, a shame.

Today, September 16th, we settled down on the terrace around 2:15 PM during our Pieterpad walk. We were craving coffee. However, there was a regional digital outage, meaning we couldn't pay by card, and we had no cash. The man who served us took pity on us and gave us coffee in exchange for a review. Fantastic, isn't it?! Now that is a truly hospitable welcome!! You don't see that very often these days. We were very happy with this gesture.

We used this location as a rest stop during the Pieterpad hiking route. Beautiful large terrace, and the very spacious parking lot shows that this family restaurant is suitable for large groups. A glance inside the building revealed that it is located close to the German border. Not only because of the authentically furnished Stube, but also because of the comfortable oak seating. This time just a drink with a piece of pear tart; given the reviews, we will have to come back again to choose from the menu. We brought the grandchildren along, as they can burn off their energy on the large number of play equipment. Closed on Mondays.

Nice and cozy and a good place to start a walk

After seeing the positive reviews, this was unfortunately a disappointment. I ordered cod and fries. We received undercooked kibbeling that tasted strange and half-raw fries. After complaining, it seems they threw it back in the fryer because the kibbeling (cod?) was tough afterward. Luckily, the strange taste was gone. If my son hadn't been there, I would have gotten up right away and only paid for the drinks, but he wouldn't have understood. As a way of making up for it, I didn't have to pay for one apple juice. This shouldn't be found when searching for a restaurant. Because a snack bar is even better than this.

A great location with delicious food, good service and a super playground for children of all ages.

Nice place! Had iced coffees today that didn't taste good; the employee says it might be the wrong proportions, and that's it. Also, they kept walking inside to order or pay as if they didn't see you. They could improve on that!

We were with a large group. So many people got sick after having been here and eaten something. Never again!

A great destination for the whole family. Children especially will have a lot of fun here; the large playground, including two bouncy castles, is simply fantastic.

A great place to enjoy a simple meal. A very pleasant, relaxed atmosphere, no fuss. The staff is very friendly. There's a lovely playground for the kids. A lovely covered patio.

The service was fine. The price/quality ratio could be much better. Cold, half-baked fries (we did get different ones) and a toasted sandwich that wasn't really a toasted sandwich. In short, a more expensive, glorified snack bar.

We only went to the playground; the restaurant was closed. The playground is very versatile and suitable for all ages. We'd love to come back.

Prices too high, only two toilets for a busy terrace. The toilets in the basement are inexplicably closed. Pointless! There are plenty of activities for children.

I really enjoyed my stay. The service was excellent and attentive, and I loved my meal. My girlfriend complained because the menu was only in Dutch. They were also very welcoming to several large dogs!

Nice location to relax after a walk with some food and drinks on the terrace. The Limburg flan tasted delicious. The children can have fun playing in the playground here. There is plenty for the kids to do, such as the helicopter where they can let loose as a pilot for a bit. There are plenty of seats on the terrace. The staff is friendly and helpful. Plenty of free parking spaces are available.

Never again. Child unfriendly while it is also meant for children! Staff stiff (definitely wanted to go home quickly) Little food for quite a lot of money. No. We will definitely not go here again.

Great place for families with children of all ages! Plenty of play options for everyone, from toddlers to adults. Instead of going to the petting zoo, it's worth visiting here: You only pay for the food and experience real highlights like a Polish jet plane or a real helicopter. On the German side: Nature park with horses, deer, and beautiful trails for walking or cycling (up to 18 km). Highly recommended!

Very popular Playgrounds around the building

Absolutely quality place! Nature around, few playgrounds, two big trampolines, bikes are available too. Old medical helicopter is placed as well. The service is fast and food is tasty. Recommended!

Had lunch here again after a very long time and what a disappointment it was. We ordered two 12-hour drinks and something to drink. The service was friendly. The menu stated that the bread would be rustic bread. We asked if we could choose whether this would be brown or white. The girl said this was possible. The food was served fairly quickly. The bread was unfortunately not rustic but 2 slices of casino bread and the tuna salad that was on one of the sandwiches was very thinly spread. The soup was clearly from a package/can. The drinks were not served with a bottle. 35 euros (food and 2 drinks) is really too much to ask for the quality offered.

We were there with our almost 2-year-old daughter today to play and have some food and drinks around 5:15 PM. The boy and the lady could not take our order at that moment because they have to eat first. Fine, I said, also for just the drinks then we wait for and enjoy your food. But when they finished eating, the man was on his phone and not in a hurry or anything. As if they had been forgotten. Both were like that. I am also heavily pregnant and my daughter was also hungry so I decided to eat somewhere else. That was not customer friendly

This location is right next to a wonderful walking area.

The location is beautiful. The flan delicious. Children can play happily there. The food is fine. €3.40 for such a small cup of latte is quite expensive.

Very nice place to stay. We were here for the annual dog sled race and had a great day, although in the middle of the race there were some e-bikes, mountain bikers etc. driving there. I found that really inappropriate for people & animals 😵‍💫, maybe you should find out what's going on before you plan a tour. Gastronomy all around is great. Child-friendliness is available here with lots of play and romp equipment

Faded glory. Playground is old and dirty. Wood from slides is rotting away. Food and drinks have become super overpriced. Last time we were there they also had some really weird music on, chillwave music in October.

Enjoyed a brand new menu today with a large group of friends. Highly recommended for both familiar and new guests. The food is tasty and the way the plate is laid out is a big plus.

It's a shame that you spend almost 100€ and are then very rudely told that you are not allowed to give the children a drink from your own water bottle. Because that would be outrageous. It is certainly outrageous to sell stale cola for €2.80. Apart from the fact that the drinks and food prices are incredibly excessive for a place with children. A portion of Kibbeling with fries costs €18.50. Staff was very nice, owner very rude.

Although we ate and drank in the restaurant for the corresponding amount, the owner very rudely pointed out that the children were not allowed to drink anything from their own water bottle... then it would be better to go to another place with a nice playground and a child-friendly environment. The young staff were consistently friendly. PS: Water 0.2 for €2.80

Very nice place with the whole family. There is a large playground for children there. The coffee is OK but the ice cream is quite soft. The cake is okay too. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Very rude owner. Ordered food and drinks, but we wanted to pay before it was ready, but the debit card didn't work. Were immediately advised not to come back.

Cozy terrace, nice large playground

It's a shame that this place is so run down. We used to love being here. However, nothing has changed for years, except the prices in the restaurant, which are incredibly high. The playground is equipped with broken and old equipment. The vehicles that were there (a highlight for the children) have now been removed. This year I was still hoping that something would happen there, but unfortunately not. That was our last visit yesterday.

We wanted to have something to eat after we arrived at the hotel Had the campsite installed at 7am. There were quite a few guests eating inside... and the service brought dishes around. How surprised we were that we were told that the kitchen was closed... Bizarre… there was plenty of room… the cook was still working hard but we were too late. The website says they are open until 9am. What unfriendly and inhospitable treatment... a big fail for us!!!!

Beautiful large terrace where you can let your children play in the playground while enjoying a snack and a drink. The helicopter there is really cool. The children can climb in and there are all kinds of switches and such.

Always a wonderful place to go. After a nice walk, have a nice coffee with pie or a tasty lunch. Also a great place for families or grandparents with their grandchildren. There is a large playground where the little ones can have fun. Parents or grandparents can supervise their little ones from the terrace. Every few years we enjoy brunch with the whole family. Delicious food in a spacious restaurant and the children play outside while the adults have drinks. Beautiful location on the edge of the forest. We are fans of De Witte Steen!

Great playground for big and small children. Rounded off with a variety of drinks and dishes to suit every taste. Very child-friendly atmosphere.

Conclusion: great playground, great outdoor location, pleasant beer selection BUT - overpriced & inferior food, the service needs to be improved and please take a little more care of the building and outdoor area. We were here at a small party and were particularly disappointed with the service. Orders were forgotten, delivered twice or only brought to the table after repeated requests. What actually bothered us even more that day was that we had to ask the service to please take the used glasses and dishes with us in order to create a little space.... A very unpleasant and insufficient service on the part of the service. A pity .... The food is "HollandStyle", at most sufficient to express it in school grades. In addition, a really unreasonably high price. Today only 2 toilets were open here for a large number of guests = NoGo! The selection of drinks is absolutely okay for a normal price. The building is unkempt and the paint is literally crumbling... The playground for the children is great and an absolute adventure. A really great compliment for that.

Update: it's still a nice location with tasty food & drinks. I was here twice in the last 3 months with my grandson and he loved the playground. The friendly service is quite fast and the prices are alright.

To be fair, we were there for lunch on a rainy Sunday afternoon. It looks like it's busy on a nice sunny day. But today (the Sunday I was there) the atmosphere was a bit less. They didn't have much for someone with a gluten allergy (and bouncer, but without bread). If you walk the Pieterpad from North to South, continue walking for 100 meters. That looked nice. If you are with children, then I don't think you are here. I regretted it because we were there without children 😆.

We stopped here after a bike tour took a break. Staff courteous, Boss very friendly, Coffee very tasty, Cake super delicious. The hot and cold dishes that were served were also very visually appealing. We'll be back, especially since there's enough space outside. There is so much play and exercise equipment available for children that a large number of children will definitely fall into bed at home. It was fun.

A wonderful place for larger groups and/or with children, on the edge of the forest, with plenty of parking. The playground near the white Stein is great fun for children of many ages. Also a good place to start or end a walk. However, for me as a vegetarian, the restaurant offers very little in terms of food options. I would enjoy coming there even more if they made the menu a little more modern. Now unfortunately there is little reason for me to eat there.

Heute auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt am weißen Stein gewesen. Es war sehr schön. Wirklich mit Dingen, die auf einen Weihnachtsmarkt gehören.

Tijdens het lopen van het Pieterpad hier wat gedronken, en vlaai gegeten. De vlaai was erg lekker. De bediening was wat afwezig want toen ik net betaald had, en ik nog even op mijn vrouw zat te wacht, vroeg dezelfde persoon twee minuten later of ik wat wilde drinken.

"De Witte Stein" liegt auf unserer Fahrrad-Route und wir kennen es seit Jahren. Für Kinder von 2-14 sicher ein schönes Ausflugsziel. Gelegentlich findet dort auch ein Trödelmarkt statt. Speisen: Die üblichen, frittierten Dinge und Convenience Food zu erhöhten Preisen, eben Ausflugs-Lokal-typisch. Bei schönem Wetter ist es dort am Wochenende recht voll. Fahrradständer sind für Montain-Bikes oder Räder mit breiteren Reifen (>= 2,4") suboptimal, jenseits der 2,4" ungeeignet. Auf dem Aussengelände befinden sich einige Spiel-Attraktionen, u.a. ein Mi-2 Hubschrauber, Feuerwehrauto, Traktor und ein DAF Militär-Geländewagen.

Heel gezellige middag gehad ivm 95e verjaardag van mijn schoonmoeder, lekker eten dmv bbq die zeer goed verzorgd was! Een goede service gehad van het vriendelijke personeel, echt top en een aanrader 👌
