Not even worth a star... We had an appointment last Saturday to discuss the possibilities for a party next May. We confirmed it politely by email, but at the time of the appointment, no one showed up. No message, nothing at all. So we went home and sent another email. No response. Today, an email arrived stating that they're closed this winter and don't know when they'll reopen next spring. What a peculiar way to communicate, and for us, Espresso Grand Cafe is definitely not coming back.

This was a relaxing and enjoyable lunch here! Beautiful waterfront setting, great service, and delicious food and drinks.

I reserved a table for 6 people on a Saturday evening at 7:45 pm through the website, as my family was visiting from abroad and we were looking forward to this dinner. When we arrived, nobody seemed aware of our reservation and we were asked whether we wanted to eat or just have drinks. We explained that we wished to dine and went upstairs. Upstairs, again, nobody knew about our reservation. We ordered drinks and then asked for the menu. However, when we were ready to order food, someone informed us that the kitchen was closed — apparently due to a low number of guests that evening. We paid for our drinks (although it would have been appreciated if at least part of them had been offered), and left. It is possible that I misunderstood the concept of the place (maybe it is more of a bar than a dinner restaurant), but what I sincerely regretted most was the contradictory information throughout the evening (being given menus, then told no food was available), the fact that our reservation was not taken into account at all, the lack of interest and empathy from part of the staff (not all of them). I hope this feedback will be constructive, especially since the place itself is beautiful.

The location is fantastic: right on the water with a view of the setting sun. We just managed to snag a spot at the bar, as all the tables were already reserved. Perfect! A bottle of wine, a bottle of water, a pina colada, and the menu were included. The gentleman behind the bar was new, and it was obvious. The pina wasn't cold and tasted mostly sweet, but hey, everyone has to learn, and it happens. We ordered bread with spreads, which turned out to be deliciously fresh and still warm—great! The millefeuille, on the other hand, was a real disappointment at €15.50 (see photo): a few pieces of filo pastry, a bit of tuna salad, three lettuce leaves, and some slices of cold meat. That's just not acceptable. Then came the main course. The tenderloin, which we explained to the waitress about the origin of the name, was excellent. The giant chicken thigh satay wasn't great in my opinion, besides being incredibly expensive. But the taste was good. Only, the fries with mayonnaise that were supposed to be included were replaced with sweet potato fries (which had been sitting for a while, so they weren't hot). I had to ask for mayo on the side. Other than that, the atmosphere was good, the music relaxed, and our mood was good too. We definitely enjoyed ourselves. From now on, we'll probably stick to a glass of wine, because they serve a vinho verde rosé, which you don't see very often. Very tasty.

The price-quality ratio is completely out of proportion!! The staff doesn't even know how to pour a glass of wine! In the spring, you're surrounded by mosquitoes, in the summer, a plague of wasps!! The waitresses were very nice, but poorly informed. I ordered prosecco, was told I'd get Cava, and ended up with Champagne. No wine for this establishment!!!!

Great atmosphere, delicious food, service can be a bit slow, but it's super friendly. Prices are high for Amsterdam, which I don't think is necessary. 8 euros for a few cheese sticks or a slice of cake.

Ate at this fantastic location for the first time... It felt like a real holiday. The atmosphere was truly wonderful... the staff were very friendly and helpful... the food was beautifully presented and delicious. Highly recommended, and we'll definitely be back soon. Thanks, team Espresso!

Had lunch, the food was delicious! The location is beautiful. But the service is poor. The girl who served us was not friendly at all, very surly. Something needs to be done about this. Clearing and cleaning the tables and taking drink orders proved to be a challenge.

An espresso café on the beach in Almere Poort has all the makings of a popular hotspot. It still needs some work. Otherwise, it's a nice spot, far from the city center.

Half empty cafe, it took 15 min to take an order. The food is below average and not very fresh.

The food was mediocre, the atmosphere was great, the service was sometimes even a bit grumpy and the price was a bit on the high side for the quality and quantity of the food.

The food was delicious. Although the bread appetizer could use a more flavorful dipping sauce. We were a bit disappointed with the butter and olive oil. The bread was delicious, though. The satay was wonderfully tender. The staff were very friendly. What a beautiful place. It's a shame it's so hot inside in the summer. We were glad we could enjoy our dessert outside.

Location was great! Reception was also great. But then everything went wrong. Carpaccio was very bland. Service could not see the difference between pesto and truffle sauce. Main course took a very long time. In the end, 1 of our chicken was raw. Fries were given for free. Not all desserts were there. Coffee and cake were chosen. When we had finished our coffee, the apple pie arrived. People next to us also heard that their choice was not there. The location was great, but I will never go there for food again. Not possible for people who have difficulty walking. You have to climb a very long staircase.

Lokatie was top! Ontvangst ook prima. Maar daarna ging er van alles mis. Capaciteit was erg flauw. Bediening zag geen verschil tussen pesto en truffelsaus. Hoofdgerecht duurde erg lang. Uiteindelijk was bij 1 ons de kip rauw. Frietje gratis gekregen. Niet alle desserts waren er. Koffie met gebak gekozen. Toen we de koffie op hadden kwam de appeltaart. Ook mensen naast ons hoorde dat hun keuze er niet was. De lokatie was heerlijk maar voor eten ga ik daar nooit meer heen. Voor mensen die moeilijk ter been zijn niet te doen. Je moet een hele lange trap op.

Had a nice lunch on the terrace with a coffee. Food was great, atmosphere was also great. My little dogs were also welcome, they even got a bowl of water spontaneously without me having to ask. Sweet! Too bad about the weather; on a sunny day I will definitely come back here.

Fantastic location! Lovely tent with professionals at work. Recommended. I had my wedding here and everything was taken care of down to the last detail! In addition, you can see a beautiful sunset here! All in all perfect.

We stumbled upon this bar during our short trip to Almere. The atmosphere was simply fantastic – truly harmonious and inviting. The service was also excellent. The Espresso Grand Café at the Beach in Almere offers a charming atmosphere right on the water. The terrace, with its breathtaking sunset views over the IJmeer, is particularly noteworthy. Simply fantastic! The food and service aren't particularly good, but they're okay. The café is easily accessible, offers free parking, and is even accessible by boat. Very nice place with excellent view over the IJmeer, nearby catamaran rental and swimming facilities. Good menu with a lot of choice in coffee, tea and also dinner.

Not enough staff when busy. But great place!

We stopped here for lunch on our bike tour. The fish soup, sweet potato fries, and poke bowl were absolutely delicious. The waitresses were super friendly and helpful. Highly recommended for cyclists along the water. After that, there's nothing left to "refuel" until Lelystad. Thanks!

The beer (Bullebak) was special, fruity, tasty, the location was excellent, especially with that wind, waves lapping the quay, the dark skies, nice to blow out on the floating plateau, cold cheeks, and have a drink inside, and with rosy cheeks back home. I couldn't wish for more now.

Food and atmosphere (place) good only the service leaves much to be desired. Several times after our order to find out where it is. Even cancelled the coffee because it took way too long and paid immediately. We had already had 2 x dessert only waiting more than 10 minutes for 3 x coffee (cancelled) I find special. Lovely atmosphere and really good food! Friendly staff!

We visited this restaurant for the first time on the recommendation of friends and because of the good reviews. Unfortunately, we found ourselves in a situation that was quite unusual and that we had not experienced before. Together with my girlfriend, we first ordered drinks, and later we wanted to have lunch. We specifically asked for the "soup of the day", and the waitress confirmed that it was available. The soup of the day was listed on the menu for about 9 euros. When the soup was served, we were surprised: it was a fish soup with seafood and large pieces of fish — very tasty, but totally unexpected for that price. So we were very surprised when we got the bill: we had to pay 34 euros for two soups. When we pointed this out, the waitress told us that the soup of the day was gone and that they had served another soup instead — without informing us in advance or mentioning the new price. Of course, we paid properly, but we found it a pity that there was no clear communication and that the customer is surprised in this way with a higher bill. A tip for the staff: always inform customers about price changes or alternatives before the order is delivered.

Beautiful terrace overlooking the water. Nice music in the background. And the food was very tasty! Vegetarian dishes can sometimes be a bit disappointing. But these were both more than worth it.

My visit to Espresso was very successful. The location has a Mediterranean/Caribbean feel, right on the water. The outside area is attractively decorated and the staff is friendly and helpful. Sufficient parking and easily accessible.

The food at Grand Café Espresso in Almere was fine, but the service left a lot to be desired. It was a sunny and very busy day, and the staff seemed overwhelmed. There appeared to be only one person who kind of knew what he was doing—everyone else was either distracted, new, or doing other things while we waited. We had to ask for basic service more than once, and it felt disorganized overall. The layout didn’t help either—tables were packed too tightly for staff to move around easily, which was uncomfortable. On top of that, they had put up regular home umbrellas for shade, and when a gust of wind hit, one flew off and landed on a group of guests. Luckily, no one was hurt, but it could have ended badly. That said, I think it’s probably a good place for just drinks in a beach environment. If you’re just relaxing with a drink, you might have a better experience.

Very disappointed to see friends with no reservation getting preferencial treatment when it came to seating. It's unprofessional. I also don't like the changes that were made, the dock isn't there anymore and the deck is very full with to much tables. It has lost the chill atmosphere it had last year. Dit (Since I can't reply on the reaction from the owner): You say that you don't give preferencial treatment and yet I witnessed it last Wednesday. I made a reservation for 1 and was there around 15.00. When I asked if I could sit at the round couch next to the water. I was told no because it was already reserved. After me a group of 3 came in without reservation they kissed and hugged the waitress, so they were clearly familiar with with each other. They said they didn't have a reservation and asked if they could sit at the round seating next to the water. The waitress look at her phone and said that they could sit there because the people who reserved that spot wouldn't come till 19.00. I was sitting near to them so heard the whole conversation and saw the whole interaction. I would say if you make those exceptions for one, but not the other that is in fact: preferencial treatment. So instead of telling me that it doesn't happen at your establishment, maybe talk to your staff and remind them that it's not okay to do that.

Beautiful location, top service and delicious food and drinks!

We went as a family.The service was late. If you don’t drink alcohol, they will offer water by saying it’s free with little insult. Not suitable for family with toddlers. Music is always loud.

Ambience fantastic, but service a disaster. As previously noted, eating takes forever. A beer and a glass of wine took 20 minutes, food (6 pieces of sushi) arrived (ordered at the same time) after over an hour.

We didn't expect to have to eat outside. It was cold despite the rain. Lots of spider webs with large spiders.

Unfortunately, Had dinner here, the location is nice but that's really where it ends. Ordered food, then after more than an hour you indicate that nothing has arrived yet. An hour for a few burgers and a simple ''giant'' satay skewer. There is nothing great about it except the price. The food was medium. The burgers are worth anything but €20. it is an achievement to have the burgers dry while they are red on the inside. And when you give feedback, they don't seem to take it seriously.

Espresso Grand Café (EGC) rented for a party with approx. 50 people. From the moment we first went there until the end of the party, the service was excellent. Very nice and friendly staff, give good and fun suggestions to make the party even more attractive and a success. Beautiful location on the Markermeer, easily accessible, plenty of parking. Had a great party with lots of fun, tasty drinks and snacks. If we throw a party for a larger group again, we will definitely go to EGC again. Hopefully in the summer next time. Tip for Pim: Put a slightly heavier amplifier and/or speakers on your audio system, then the volume for the music can be turned up a little (if desired), which will increase the party atmosphere faster. Everything else was arranged perfectly!

With a large group we had a buffet with delicious tapas dishes. The staff was also very nice. In any case, I will come back again in the summer.

2nd time we visited in a week. We skipped this place for a while but with the new management and kitchen they perform excellent. The staff was very friendly, welcoming and attentive. We had a vegetarian Rendang (Indonesian stew) made with cabbage and mushrooms, Sate, and Steak skewers that where tender never properly seasoned. Portions are well sized, so you don’t leave hungry :-) Kids took Lava cakes as dessert with ice cream, which where nice (not overly sweat) and runny on the inside (as it should be). Talking with the chef (who came out for a quick chat to see if everything was to our liking) he told us that when the weather clears up they are going to modify the exterior terras for the spring/summer season. All in all, a nice place for a quick lunch/dinner and during the summer season an excellent place to hang out if you want to relax or like watersports.

Op 14-08-2024 bij Espresso Grand Café ons bruiloft mogen vieren! Het was de eerste bruiloft die zij daar organiseerde. Vanaf het begin werd er goed meegedacht en er was van alles mogelijk. Wij hadden een kleine bruiloft, maar dat was helemaal geen probleem. Tamara de eventmanager ging gelijk voor ons aan de slag. Beste Tamara en collega's ontzettend bedankt voor jullie gastvrijheid en service! Tamara bedankt voor het meedenken, je betrokkenheid en het opzetten van de bruiloft! Het lastminute opzetten van de tent in de hitte door de verwachte regen! Het maken van videofilmpjes, ook Shanti zo dankbaar voor het filmpje! Alles was supermooi opgezet en versiert. We hebben de kok die avond bedankt voor het heerlijke eten! Maar nogmaals ons complimenten voor de kok het was echt heerlijk allemaal, en fijn dat ons oude menu is aangehouden ondanks dat er een nieuwe kok was! Ook de drankjes werden snel geregeld door het personeel. Er gingen vele mails, chats en bezoekjes aan vooraf, maar uiteindelijk is er iets heel moois en bijzonders voor ons opgezet door jullie wat wij nooit meer zullen vergeten! We hebben genoten van de dag en het heerlijke eten en we willen jullie bedanken voor het mogelijk maken van deze fantastische dag en de uitstekende service op deze mooi locatie!

Wedding We were able to celebrate our wedding at Espresso Grand Café on 14-08-2024! It was the first wedding she organized there. From the start there was a lot of thought and anything was possible. We had a small wedding, but that was no problem at all. Tamara, the event manager, immediately got to work for us. Dear Tamara and colleagues, thank you very much for your hospitality and service! Thank you Tamara for your thoughts, your involvement and setting up the wedding! Setting up the tent at the last minute in the heat due to the expected rain! Making videos, also so grateful to Shanti for the video! Everything was beautifully set up and decorated. We thanked the chef that evening for the delicious food! But once again our compliments to the chef, it was all really delicious, and it's nice that our old menu was retained even though there was a new chef! The drinks were also quickly arranged by the staff. This was preceded by many emails, chats and visits, but in the end you set up something very beautiful and special for us that we will never forget! Given the reactions, we had quite high expectations for Espresso grand café & of course we knew that if you go out for a meal for a reasonable price via the ''social deal'' you don't have to expect a star appetizer, but you do need to expect a bit of quality. The evening started with the fact that several beers from the menu could not be served because the tap was not connected and also that some starters were no longer available (it was 7:00 PM and the restaurant was virtually empty), which reduced the choice. We chose the sushi with salmon, but we were not told that this was 3 euros per person extra, while this was clearly indicated on the menu and social deal that the salmon was just part of it... a bit strange in our eyes. Once the starter arrived, it was of excellent quality, it must be said, it came in stages. First 2 plates (there were four of us) then it took about 3 minutes before we received the other 2 plates... it's a bad thing that this is not served at once and that is especially possible with sushi. With the main course something went wrong with the ordered poke ball with chicken that was delivered with salmon, an ordered fanta where cases were brought... the mistakes piled up. The main courses were also of excellent quality if the standard is ''social deal''. The dessert bothered us the most, again we ordered something that wasn't there, this time the lava cake. After some disappointment, 2 of us went for the chef's surprise, the ''high Thea'' for the first time in my life. I indicated to the waiter that I thought this was really substandard (see photo 4), the muffin was still wrapped in paper and looked as if it had come straight from Albert Heijn and the piece of cake was also bone dry, the bonbon was not whole either. spectacular and especially the whipped cream and my espresso Maciato were the highlights of this dessert, I really don't understand how you can serve this to people in a restaurant, especially considering that Nut Parfait was really divine, which the other 2 had. The contrast couldn't be greater. We have mixed feelings about this dinner because there is certainly potential in the location and because some dishes were really good, but far too much went wrong... for us there is no follow-up for the time being, but hopefully you can do something with the feedback.

The place to be, especially during sunset. Nicely decorated inside.

From the outside you think "where are we going", but once inside it is very good. The atmosphere, the service, the background music. The view was over the water. Difficult questions (about the menu content) were answered honestly by looking them up. When we were there, it was a quiet place where you can have a good dinner. Dinner was fantastic!! The only thing that could have been better was that the coffee and the ordered dessert came at the same time. Let's see if that happens next time 🙂

Really phenomenal food and very cozy

It remains one of the most beautiful places in Almere Poort, a pity that the price-quality ratio is not good. We had a flamkuche that was really no larger than 12 cm and cost 12.50. The manager or owner said that this is the case. Not really a satisfactory answer.

The location is beautiful right on the water. But the chairs and place to sit are dirty and lots of spider webs. After arriving 10 mins later we got the menu. And the guy who gave the menu went back inside for dinner and nobody cared to take the order. We waited for another 15mins and still nobody came and did not feel like sitting as they don’t care.

I spontaneously had dinner here today with friends. And it all really surprised me. The food arrived quickly and the service was good. I ordered the ribeye and when I indicated that I did not want to eat pepper sauce, they made red wine sauce without asking. This is what you want from a restaurant, personal attention and they really cater to your wishes. I would come here again in a heartbeat!!

The location is the best thing about the cafe. Everything is very dirty, the tables haven't been wiped down, there are cobwebs on all the chairs, cigarette butts on the floor. It takes a while for someone to come to the table, then we waited almost 45 minutes for two pieces of cake. You had the feeling that the waitresses were hiding and if you wanted something you had to look for them. The price-performance ratio isn't right either. It's a shame, the location is so great, right on the water. You just wait too long for everything.

Location is fantastic but otherwise not good. This entire summer the kitchen has not been able to serve our dishes at the same time, something always goes wrong and then one person has to wait 10-15 minutes longer for their food (in the meantime the chef is outside...) Quality has continued also mediocre. Service is friendly, but there is still a lot of work to be done here. In fact, you have to wait a long time for everything and, above all, have a lot of patience and compassion when visiting Espresso. We'll skip it for now. Hopefully next year at an acceptable level! I highly recommend the place.

I want to share my disappointing experience at a restaurant. We had made a reservation for 21:00 for dinner, which was confirmed. However, when I arrived, all the staff seemed to have disappeared. We were eventually seated, but after waiting for 10 minutes, I had to go and find a server. We were told that the kitchen was closed when we finally got the menu. They offered finger food, but this was strange, considering that the last reservation for dinner was at 21:30. The lady took the order 10 minutes later, again I had to go and look for her, just to come back and say they would not serve us at all because the service was closed at 2130, the time was 2133 if I wasn't looking for the waiter, maybe I would have time to eat. Anyway, I might return JUST because of the location, but ONLY for drinks. It's funny to see the reply from the restaurant it is a LIE. Just read my review. The time was 2130, after 20 minutes figthing to get a waiter to take our order. I felt they simply didn't want to serve us. I was never contacted, I was poorly received by a LAZY staff member who never came to the table. After this bad experience, also from the reply, I will never come back, not EVEN FOR DRINKS. And it is sad because I live rigth next to it. Plus, you don't believe me, see other reviews, everyone complains about you TERRIBLE staff. It's better to fix it. IF YOU GO TO THIS RESTAURANT, BE AWARE OF THE TERRIBLE SERVICE. I can't speak about nothing else because the opportunity was never given to me.

A terrible experience. I can't comment on the food, as I didn't get that much. Service is slow, lazy and unfriendly. They didn't want to serve us, despite accepting a dinner reservation for 9pm, half an hour before the kitchen supposedly closed. I was informed that I would not be able to have dinner, I would only be able to access the snack menu. A few minutes later, not even snacks would be possible. Why accept reservations at this time? I don't recommend this place.

The food is excellent, the service is friendly and the location is perfect. It actually has all the ingredients for a wonderful evening, but it all takes just a little too long, so you still go home with an unsatisfactory feeling. Too long for them to take your order. Too long before you get your drink and the last time we even had to wait 1.5 hours for the food. They also have a children's menu, but it is not on the menu and not everyone at the service is aware of it, so you may have to ask further.

I already read the reviews about having to wait a long time for your food and they appear to be correct. First brought the wrong drink and then only received my coffee 50 minutes later from arrival. Other guests were also complaining about the long wait for their food. Nice place on the water, but if they don't work faster, I don't think this will be there for long.

We found it took a very long time for the cheesecake and spring rolls to be served (30 minutes after ordering them). By now we had already finished the drinks we wanted to know about. Shame. There are no high marks for ready-made foods. We liked it.
