Flemish Fries Snackland in Burgwallen-Nieuwe Zijde

I ordered a large portion of fries, which cost about 9 euros. When I received my order, the portion was about the size of a child’s meal. When I asked why it was so small, I was told that this was actually their largest portion. The food was good, but for the price it was not worth it.

The potatoes were dry, and the taste was noticeably different compared to other places we've eaten. It will satisfy your hunger.

Hands down the best fries in Amsterdam no competition. And trust me, we tried a lot. These guys nail it: perfectly crispy all the way to the last fry at the bottom of the bag, zero soggy survivors. The sauces? Generous, flavorful, and honestly half the fun.They’ve got different sizes too, and the Big Boy is perfect for sharing if you’re in “snack-but-still-serious” mode.If you’re hunting for proper Dutch fries done right, this is the spot.

The fries were good! However, they're incredibly inflexible when it comes to sauces – you have to pay €1.25 per sauce and you get four pumps, which means everything is swimming in (in my case) ketchup. Two pumps of mayo and two of ketchup aren't an option unless you pay €2.50, because eight pumps of sauce on medium fries is simply impossible. Four pumps were already too much. I think they should be more flexible, especially at that price! Unfortunately, there are no chairs or anywhere you can even stand comfortably.

Better than Manneken pis and definitely better than fabel. Also the staffs were soo nicee

One of the best chip shops where you can always come for delicious Flemish fries with price and quality.

The fries were ok though they came with a pretty stingy serving of sauce. The “discount deal” shown on the menu (comprising medium fries, choice of one sauce, one cheese souffle, and a bottle of coke) was pretty decent. The cheese souffle actually turned out to be tastier than the fries. Having also tried the fries from Mannekin Pis and Fabel, our personal favourite was the fries from Fabel. The service at here was also more disorganised and inefficient compared to the other two franchises.

The best fries in Amsterdam. The sauce selection is also really good. It's usually very busy and you'll have to wait a bit, but that's perfectly acceptable given the quality.

It’s no different from the usual chips you get in the UK or thicker version of French fries. You can choose what and how many sauces you want on your fries. I found it to be okay, nothing extraordinary.

EDIT: I tried the other fries place nearby, maybe 25 meters north toward the train station. It alleges it is voted the #1 fries place. That joint gives out blue cones for their fries. FLEMISH FRIES SNACKLAND IS BETTER AND CHEAPER! • Delicious. First time having Dutch fries; I got the medium size with truffle mayo and Parmesan and it is A LOT. Got a Coke, too, and it was €10. There are public benches nearby, and the business has two small stands on the sidewalk at which you can stand and enjoy your tasty snack (truly a meal; this is DENSE). Highly recommend this place if you visit Amsterdam. It’s a 10-minute walk from Central Station, maybe a little less if you’re a fast walker.

We went for the popular friet sauce—warning, they’re generous with it. A large (€5.95 + sauce) was more than enough to share. Swift service and polite staff. 2. Pietersma Snacks (Albert Cuyp Market, East entrance) ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not on our list, but a happy surprise when paired with kibbeling. Fries had great texture, already lightly salted, and very good value (large €4.50). Friendly, fast service. 3. Manneken Pis (Damrak) ⭐⭐⭐½ The YouTube-famous one. Fries looked the part—crispy, fluffy—but lacked flavour on their own. The Cajun spice shaker made them much better. Pricey at €9 for a large (sauce extra). 4. Fabel Friet (Runstraat)⭐ Our biggest disappointment. Thin, skin-on fries, overcooked and a small portion for the price (~€4.50, plus €1.50 for cheese). Busy with long queues (likely from influencer hype), but sadly our least favourite. Price Perspective: KFC large fries are €3.75. So while Amsterdam’s fries seem pricey, the top three here are much better quality and worth it. Final Thought: Our list is just one family’s verdict—fries are all about personal taste and the experience. Try a few for yourself and see which one makes your #1!

The fries are good and at a significantly better price than the competition. For my personal taste, the onion sauce is a bit too sweet, but the cheese sauce is excellent. The wait times are non-existent; we were served immediately.

The fries taste great and you have the freedom to choose from a variety of sauces. However, only one employee takes the order, pays for it, prepares it, and fries the fries with the same gloves. This of course results in a delay and a messy order (I ordered truffle mayo and Garlic mayo). I got all of it with Garlic mayo. I noticed that other shops that specialize in fries have the same person who takes the order and pays for it, and the same person who prepares the order and fries it. Each person has a specific task.

It's a simple yet innovative type of food that we hadn't seen anywhere before. And the truth is, eating fries is enjoyable at any time, no matter how simple it is to make. In our case, we had it on the way back to the hotel and tried it one night on our way back. The service was quick since there were few people around. As for the product, it was delicious, the fries were decent, although in my opinion they're not the best. I don't remember what sauce we added, although we didn't notice a flavor we loved either. It's good if you're a little hungry and want to get it off without worrying too much about what to eat.

I really didn't like the fries or the other specialties, but it depends on each person's taste. The welcome is average, but I can understand the crowd.

We ate at this little establishment during our visit to Amsterdam. We were pleasantly surprised. The fries are very good, crispy. Not greasy at all. The portions are generous. The sauce is ample. We were served by a very pleasant and super-friendly gentleman. The poor guy was running around all over the place but always with a smile. Thank you again for this positive experience. Quick fries kiosk on the main street near the train station. We stopped for a quick snack before traveling back home. They have huge portions of fries as well as toppings.

loved the fries i ordered it with ketchup but they did lots of itt and also even tho its crowded i got my order fast!!!

The staff member was not at all respectful. My friends and I waited more than 30 minutes for a portion of fries, while orders placed after us were served before us. When we asked where things were, they talked among themselves, making fun of us. We then asked for a refund, so we left. The one who told us it was not possible, then told us that it was ok, but that we would have to wait 10 minutes for him to come downstairs to get our change (€10). If he didn't make fun of us, I don't understand.

One of the two servers was particularly rude. Too bad the fries were good but I don't want to come back.

I ate some really good fries – well cooked and hot. They added a lot of sauce for the price (extra), and it was actually a good quality one. The staff were super nice and smiling. The price was very decent. I didn’t have to wait long for the fries even though there was quite a long line. The staff moved quickly. I liked that there were two separate lines working in parallel (one for ordering and one for picking up the food). It felt well organized. They also have the option to order online, which is a great bonus. I’ll definitely buy from here again next time! 😊

The staff was on solo duty and handled it all - from taking orders to sending them out. She was a bit moody and seemed to be in a rush- which I understand since she was alone and the line was long- but she treated others better than when it was our turn to order. I will write in Turkish because why not? Their potatoes are very good, but what's really nice is their sauce. Truffle mayonnaise is especially good. The price was around 7-8€. We were 2 people, we ate a large meal and were very full. The only downside is eating standing up. That's already a problem in Europe.

There isn't much of a service here. You queue, you order, pay and step to the side for others to place order with very minimal conversation - You get your chips and you move on quickly. So I wouldn't class this service at all. I had better chips - But it was okay.

There is a mess in line. There are two order places and it makes confusion between lines. Employees were rudely answered when we just asked about confusion. Sizes are smaller than others. Taste is good enough. I hope they will get better in customer relations.
