Always good food and friendly staff, definitely worth having some fries

This used to be a top place but has gone downhill since it changed owners.

Unfortunately, it's closed today! I came here for nothing, which is a shame...it said it was open on Sundays. Disappointed!

This used to be the best fries in Overijssel. Unfortunately they changed ownership and the quality has dropped. Different potatoes, oil, technique….? Don’t know? There’s nothing wrong with the fries. But nothing special either.

Today I ate at De Frietmeester for the first time.... They live up to their name: the most fantastic fries I've had in a long time!! I had some trouble ordering, but a staff member helped me promptly. If I could give it 10 stars, I would. Highly recommended!

Here, the potatoes are cut with a chip cutter and pre-fried with the skins on, then finished off with a perfect bag of fries. Once you've tried these fries, you won't want any other. At least, that's my experience, and that of my family. The staff is very friendly, but also real fighters. We come back here every week. Thanks, guys! 👍🏽👊🏽💪🏾 P.S. I completely disagree with the negative reviews below. It's clean and tidy here. And the fries are good quality. So don't let a negative review sway you. It's better to go and see for yourself. Delicious fries, but the chicken strips are more like chicken nuggets than strips.

After previous good experiences, this time, unfortunately, it was incredibly bad (and truly bad). There was a manager/proprietor there, intently watching the girls prepare the food, yet they still foisted it on you. Three large fries with mayo, one of which was okay in size, two average, and three small, but truly small, half full and quite delicious. The fries were small, crushed, and looked like old fries that had been re-fried and were completely soaked in the grease. The last cone also had the tiniest bits from the fryer, and yes, as you can see, it was completely inedible. Not even fries, a waste of money. We threw away more than half the cones. We run a restaurant ourselves, and we would never serve anything like that. Unfortunately, you've lost us as customers. But please know that this is no way to serve food.

Simply delicious.. Well prepared, and an extra long wooden fork is added to the cone, so that you can also reach the bottom of the bag. I can't give a higher rating considering the long wait for the fries, the management having to deal with loudly laughing friends all the time and, most importantly, the fries weren't even that tasty.

Order was incomplete. Also logical, the employees tried hard but were clearly stressed by the owner who watched their fingers and was unfriendly/demanding. Not a nice atmosphere and orders go wrong more often. Fries are fine.

Weird and unpleasant atmosphere inside

Een hemelse frietervaring bij de Frietmeester – elke keer opnieuw een feest! Vandaag mochten we ons opnieuw onderdompelen in de heerlijke wereld van de Frietmeester in Deventer. Zoals altijd werden we hartelijk verwelkomd; het warme ontvangst voelt hier bijna als thuiskomen. De sfeer is ongedwongen, vriendelijk en straalt liefde voor het vak uit – precies zoals je dat hoopt bij een zaak die zich met recht "Meester" mag noemen. Deze keer kozen we voor een klassieke favoriet: een frietje speciaal. We vroegen vriendelijk of het mogelijk was om de saus apart te krijgen in een bakje, simpelweg omdat wij dat een fijnere manier van eten vinden. Zonder enige moeite werd hier met een glimlach op ingegaan. De friet werd prachtig geserveerd, de saus keurig in een apart bakje – tot in de puntjes verzorgd. En dan de friet zelf... Wat een traktatie! Elke hap was puur genieten. De frieten zijn goudbruin gebakken, knapperig van buiten en zacht van binnen – precies zoals je het zou willen. Je proeft gewoon dat hier gewerkt wordt met verse aardappelen en vakmanschap. De smaak was nóg beter dan ik me van vorige keren kon herinneren, en dat zegt veel, want elke ervaring hier is een hoogtepunt op zich. De kwaliteit van het eten sluit perfect aan bij deze prachtige zonnige dag. Alles smaakte alsof het door de zon zelf was gekust: vol, rijk en bourgondisch lekker. In combinatie met de vriendelijke bediening en de liefdevolle presentatie is de Frietmeester opnieuw een absolute topper gebleken. Kortom: De Frietmeester is dé plek in Deventer voor wie houdt van ambachtelijke friet, met liefde bereid en geserveerd in een warme, gastvrije sfeer. Wij geven zonder enige twijfel een 10 uit 10. Iedere bezoeker die zichzelf een klein geluksmomentje gunt, móét hier een keer langsgaan. Wij kijken nu alweer uit naar de volgende keer!

It's been a while since we went out for fries. Everything was cleaned nicely, but the fries are no longer that good. Less crispy not as well fried. It also took a long time while there were 4 people “working”. Shame

We have been coming to the chip shop for years to eat some fries. But as described below, since the takeover the atmosphere and quality have deteriorated. Fries are not “loosened” properly and are fried while stuck together. Salt sprinkled on 1 spot, do not shake. Delivered in the hand, not in a holder, and not at the table as before. No more hand cleaner available. Little sauce. You are a number…. Dear previous owners,... you were great, but they won't see us here again... a pity

Afgelopen zondag zijn we bij De Frietmeester geweest, Het eten was heerlijk! de frietjes waren knapperig, goudbruin en duidelijk vers bereid. Maar wat deze plek echt speciaal maakt, is de passie voor hun product. Het vriendelijke personeel nam de tijd om uit te leggen hoe de frietjes worden gemaakt, van aardappel tot bord, en ze demonstreerde het zelfs even. Het was superleuk en interessant om te zien hoe ambachtelijk alles wordt gedaan. Ze raadde ons ook aan om de Goude Brandermayo te proberen, en dat was een absolute topper! Een perfecte toevoeging bij de frietjes. De service was top: iedereen was vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Als je in Deventer bent, is dit zeker een aanrader. Wij komen zeker nog eens terug!

This afternoon I had fries again at the Frietmeester. Of course, 3 euros for fries with sauce is not extremely cheap, but you definitely get value for your money. I don't go to an ordinary cafeteria anymore. The Frietmeester's fries are fried in a balanced way, as it were, the temperature of the oil in the 3 fryers must be exactly right and an alarm clock does the rest. You are served delicious golden brown fries in an old-fashioned bag and it is a decent portion. The sauce is also excellent, there is a choice between various types. Furthermore, it is a pleasant environment to quietly enjoy your bag of fries. And let's be honest, how much do you spend if you sit down for lunch for a simple sandwich? 28/11-2024, got fries for the first time today from the new operators. Nothing has been compromised on quality! Erna and Erik transferred the business well and trained their successor excellently. The fries were delicious again, boiling hot and nice and crispy. The new chip masters are also very nice and very customer friendly!

What a shame that someone now runs the Frietmeester who knows the ropes. The quality of the fries has really deteriorated. Just got fries and snacks for 4 people. The snacks were not in the bag, the sauces were wrong and the fries were cold. And the so-called owner packs the bag himself and meanwhile walks to the hardworking girls. It's a real shame that someone like that ruins a business that the previous owners worked so hard for.

New owners and therefore unfortunately less tasty fries. The previous owners baked much better. The fries were now way too hard. The snacks were fine, but of course it's all about the fries. Bake a little less hard, girls! Hopefully better next time.

We had been waiting for a while and a number of people who came after us were told that it would take another twenty minutes (fries still had to be pre-fried). When we asked, it turned out that it also applies to us. Even though someone after us got his fries right away, it was very special. You may not be able to control the crowds, but you should communicate honestly, clearly and in a customer-friendly manner.

Recently taken over and what TERRIBLE antisocial people are behind the counter now. The gentleman was of the opinion that my colleagues had indicated that the fries were weak and when I came to pick them up I was completely taken aback, even though I never order fries there. Really bizarre. 1. Colleagues had not emailed at all. 2. If you can't handle feedback that well, you better not run a catering business. Aso's, I would choose a different place for your fries.

Zeker toen de uitbater de overgebleven patat naar een dakloze vrouw in de straat bracht, ondernemers met een sociaal hart dus! Wij komen vaker!

Als je echt de beste patat wilt eten die je ooit gehad hebt, moet je echt hier naar toe. Als ik in het centrum ben kan ik het niet laten om hier even binnen te wippen voor een lekkere puntzak. Ook het personeel is vriendelijk en er is altijd een schone tafel, al zijn deze nooit langer dan een paar minuten onbezet. Deze zaak krijgt van mij een dikke 11!
