Frietmeester in Wijk 1 Binnenstad

I arrived just a few minutes before closing time and luckily I was still able to place an order. The food was really delicious. It simply tastes 100 times better than at Paul van Gurp!!! And the service was really top-notch too. I was helped in a friendly manner and didn't feel at all like I was being "difficult" with ordering so late. Definitely worth repeating. If I'm ever in Deventer again, I will definitely stop by! 10/10

Top fries, top customer service, top atmosphere. Simply 5 stars for me. Super tasty, authentic fried fries in a crispy coating; I definitely enjoyed it.

We had tasty fries with some skin on them and a good, distinct potato flavor. It was also nice sitting outside that you can place paper cones in the tables; very creative. They even asked if we wanted a drink on the house; very customer-friendly 😇

Great fries made from fresh, unpeeled potatoes. Delicious.

These fries are really delicious, incredibly tasty. The service was very friendly. The restaurant is cozy and perfectly suited for eating fries. You can also get takeout. Drinks are also available.

Tasty, what fries should be. Organic potatoes would be just a little bit better!

Good fries, quite a lot of people

Delicious fries. I got the small with Samurai Sauce and onions! Lekker!

Delicious fries and top service!

Delicious fries, tasty Belgian mayo as a sauce option, and super tasty goat cheese croquettes for dessert. Unfortunately no toilet, but otherwise top-notch! And friendly staff. I say, go for it!

Amazing Parmesan fries with truffle mayonnaise. When I'm in Deventer again, I'll come back for it.

It was good to eat and there was plenty of it too.

I've rarely eaten as well as I did there; it was incredibly delicious and inexpensive to boot. The homemade fries are definitely the highlight. Very family-friendly. The only downside is the limited seating.

They have such delicious croquettes here. With real shredded beef inside. The satay croquette was delicious too. The fries were also so nice and fresh. Friendly staff. Keep up the good work.

The service was very friendly and they gave good advice. The menu could perhaps be a bit clearer, as it's a little overwhelming with all the sauces. The fries were okay. There's not much to say about the atmosphere, as it's just a small chip shop.

Had a delicious meal at Frietmeesters

Delicious fries, good atmosphere. Very good value for money.

Delicious fries! Almost a whole meal, highly recommended!

If you're keen for chips in Deventer, this is a must go to spot. They've won awards for the last few years because their chips (fritten) are that good. I had their speciality dish that was brilliant, but honestly I'd have been happy with just chips like most of the rest of my party. Go there. Eat. Enjoy. It's hard not to 😉

Wow, thanks for the experience! Super delicious, homemade fries! Here, the potatoes are carefully and lovingly pressed through the die, then given a spa-like bath in a golden liquid. After this initial process, the golden beauties receive a second, final dip in the second basin of pure bliss! 10/10, everyone in Deventer should treat themselves to this slice of happiness!

The best fries I have ever eaten! Friendly service, food was ready quickly regardless of how busy it was. The 4 hospitality awards are certainly well-deserved! The price-quality ratio is also superb; these fries are 100% worth trying.

Super delicious golden fries. Good snacks. Friendly staff.

Visited this lovely place with hardworking, service-oriented staff for the first time tonight. We both had regular fries (small doesn't exist) with satay sauce/special, accompanied by a beef croquette and a bami disc. Everything was of good quality and not salty. Also a winner in terms of price. We will be back!

Best fries, really super tasty 😄👍🏻 The fries are freshly cut from nice big potatoes and the owner is super nice, all in all a top spot

Had an exceptionally good meal with unique flavors and perfectly prepared, definitely recommended.

Still the best fries in Deventer. They are not as good as they where before the takeover. But don't get me wrong they are still really good.

Excellent Dutch fries. Worth a visit.

The best fries I've ever eaten! Simply a delight for fry connoisseurs 😍.

Highly recommended! Fresh fries with fresh Parmesan cheese, truffle mayonnaise, and spring onion. Delicious. We had a wonderful meal tonight!

The best 'homemade' chips in a Deventer 'snackbar'. Crispy from outside and soft and tender from within, keeping the natural taste of the potatos. They have many different top-ups including truffle sauce. It should be no suprice they earned another price (the 4th) for 2025. On the photo you can see the last 3, the 4th is to be displayed soon. Last but not least, the price quality rate is fair, unlike in Amsterdam were I paid much more for similar quality. If you appreciate superb chips in Deventer than this is the place to go. The service was friendly, the brought the chip to me in a handy paperbag (no plastic) holder. The only minus is that the place is small, so often it is crowded.

The cones look nice and there is plenty of choice among the additions.

✨ Best fries ever! ✨ Fresh, crispy, and simply heavenly 😍🍟 – you can immediately taste the love that goes into making them! Every portion is perfectly prepared, golden yellow, and never soggy (fries dreams come true 😋). But it's not just the food that impresses – the team is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always in a good mood 🙌💛. You simply feel welcome here! Whether as a snack between meals or a little reward after a long day – these fries are always a good choice! 🔥 #foodlove #frieslove #freshandperfect #foodie #delicious #yummy #snacktime #supportlocal #goodvibesonly #foodstagram #foodheaven

Always good food and friendly staff, definitely worth having some fries

This used to be a top place but has gone downhill since it changed owners.

Unfortunately, it's closed today! I came here for nothing, which is a shame...it said it was open on Sundays. Disappointed!

Delicious homemade artisan fries! The only downside is the portions... if you order for two people, it's more like a single serving.

Delicious fries! Quickly served, generous portions, and excellent value. We'll be back.

Absolutely top-notch fries, great sauces, super tasty, fair prices, very friendly staff! We love coming here.

This used to be the best fries in Overijssel. Unfortunately they changed ownership and the quality has dropped. Different potatoes, oil, technique….? Don’t know? There’s nothing wrong with the fries. But nothing special either.

They're more than worth the price. Because they're truly exceptionally delicious fries. And the snacks are delicious too.

Delicious fries with a wide selection of sauces. Prices are good.

What a cheap place this has become. Half-empty bag of fries, less sauce, incompetent staff, and an annoying manager. No more service either. I'm leaving; I'm better off making it myself. Tastier and cheaper.

Today I ate at De Frietmeester for the first time.... They live up to their name: the most fantastic fries I've had in a long time!! I had some trouble ordering, but a staff member helped me promptly. If I could give it 10 stars, I would. Highly recommended!

Here, the potatoes are cut with a chip cutter and pre-fried with the skins on, then finished off with a perfect bag of fries. Once you've tried these fries, you won't want any other. At least, that's my experience, and that of my family. The staff is very friendly, but also real fighters. We come back here every week. Thanks, guys! 👍🏽👊🏽💪🏾 P.S. I completely disagree with the negative reviews below. It's clean and tidy here. And the fries are good quality. So don't let a negative review sway you. It's better to go and see for yourself. Tastes and opinions differ. Some people always have something to complain about. 🙃

Delicious fries, well cooked, nice portions, friendly service, I'm good for another year.

Always delicious food, happy people and great atmosphere

I had delicious fries at De Frietmeester today. Everything was fresh and the portions were generous! Huge respect for the gentleman who ran the entire chip shop single-handedly. It was very busy, but he still remained incredibly friendly to everyone. Highly recommended! Greetings from Maastricht

Best Fries in Town , handmade, only potato 🥔 , I recommend Parmesan with Truffle , delicious 😋

Delicious fries, but the chicken strips are more like chicken nuggets than strips.

After previous good experiences, this time, unfortunately, it was incredibly bad (and truly bad). There was a manager/proprietor there, intently watching the girls prepare the food, yet they still foisted it on you. Three large fries with mayo, one of which was okay in size, two average, and three small, but truly small, half full and quite delicious. The fries were small, crushed, and looked like old fries that had been re-fried and were completely soaked in the grease. The last cone also had the tiniest bits from the fryer, and yes, as you can see, it was completely inedible. Not even fries, a waste of money. We threw away more than half the cones. We run a restaurant ourselves, and we would never serve anything like that. Unfortunately, you've lost us as customers. But please know that this is no way to serve food.

Enjoyed a cone of fries with "oorlogsfrietje" (war fries). What a surprise! I'd give it a 10!

You can eat your fries either inside or on the patio. They fry and cut the potatoes themselves. Excellent quality.

Good fries but quite expensive: two normal fries with mayonnaise for 9.20 euros

For delicious fries this is the place to be in Deventer. It is a bit expensive, but that is the case everywhere these days.

Very nice people working at this place and the Fries are delicious!

The fries (1 fries is enough for the two of us) were tasty, nothing wrong with it. We had a very nice conversation with the two young ladies, despite the big age difference.

Great fries, but we found the way the owner dealt with his staff extremely authoritarian, not pleasant.

Simply delicious.. Well prepared, and an extra long wooden fork is added to the cone, so that you can also reach the bottom of the bag. Unfortunately, it's not all that cheap anymore, but you get value for your money here. Minus point perhaps... Too few seats outside. But that will have been imposed by the municipality of Deventer. In short.... Do it 👍

I can't give a higher rating considering the long wait for the fries, the management having to deal with loudly laughing friends all the time and, most importantly, the fries weren't even that tasty.

Order was incomplete. Also logical, the employees tried hard but were clearly stressed by the owner who watched their fingers and was unfriendly/demanding. Not a nice atmosphere and orders go wrong more often. Fries are fine.

Fries were delicious and friendly staff!

Super tasty fries, great shop and service. Clear recommendation!

The fries are fine. Just a shame that they are too stingy with the quantity. With a large fries, I want to have some leftovers even though I'm full. And I especially don't want to finish my sauce halfway through the cone. All too measured as far as I'm concerned. My advice would be to give people that little bit extra so that they come back.

Small but very good. A well-kept and very clean snack bar. The fries are fresh and baked very well

Deaf Germans have difficult communication, but it still has because all four women tried what I would like for my family... delicious fresh fries with Brandermayo... what kind of sauces they are, it would be good to know the contents of onions, tomatoes or something like that

Another delicious meal, the fries are freshly prepared and the choice of sauces is enormous.

Weird and unpleasant atmosphere inside

Elke hap was puur genieten.

It's been a while since we went out for fries. Everything was cleaned nicely, but the fries are no longer that good. Less crispy not as well fried. It also took a long time while there were 4 people “working”. Shame

Very helpful, especially for fries. Nice staff, recommended

Nicely decorated place with good fries. The fries with truffle and Parma ham are especially recommended.

Sadly, my favorite snack bar is no more. Fries less tasty, the atmosphere seems to have disappeared and it is no longer sparkling clean as it always was. I won't be back, looking for another snack bar!

Best fries in Deventer, clean place, friendly staff and the fries are great, especially with burner mayonnaise. Definitely recommended I was here a while ago. I already liked the fries then. But after tonight I fell in love with these fries again. They remain delicious, well done ladies keep up the good work!!!!! And I will definitely come back soon!!

We have been coming to the chip shop for years to eat some fries. But as described below, since the takeover the atmosphere and quality have deteriorated. Fries are not “loosened” properly and are fried while stuck together. Salt sprinkled on 1 spot, do not shake. Delivered in the hand, not in a holder, and not at the table as before. No more hand cleaner available. Little sauce. You are a number…. Dear previous owners,... you were great, but they won't see us here again... a pity

new owner and as is often the case: quality is much less. The Frietmeester used to be something special, but not anymore. Shame!

I had dinner here and had very tasty fries with very friendly colleagues. I would definitely go here again, highly recommended!

Delicious artisanal fries. All kinds of special flavors also available. And of course fries from a cone are always great!

Tasty fries but not very special

Shared large fries with daughter, never been here before, but delicious!!

Nice employees, good food and a good price. Actually the only thing you need to know. 💁🏼‍♂️

This afternoon I had fries again at the Frietmeester. Of course, 3 euros for fries with sauce is not extremely cheap, but you definitely get value for your money. I don't go to an ordinary cafeteria anymore. The Frietmeester's fries are fried in a balanced way, as it were, the temperature of the oil in the 3 fryers must be exactly right and an alarm clock does the rest. You are served delicious golden brown fries in an old-fashioned bag and it is a decent portion. The sauce is also excellent, there is a choice between various types. Furthermore, it is a pleasant environment to quietly enjoy your bag of fries. And let's be honest, how much do you spend if you sit down for lunch for a simple sandwich? 28/11-2024, got fries for the first time today from the new operators. Nothing has been compromised on quality! Erna and Erik transferred the business well and trained their successor excellently. The fries were delicious again, boiling hot and nice and crispy. The new chip masters are also very nice and very customer friendly!

The food took a long time, but it was very tasty. My husband dropped his fries and the employee immediately gave him a new one!

Today I had parmesan fries with homemade truffle mayonnaise, absolutely delicious. Super nice owners and a nice atmosphere. I will definitely come here more often, best fries I have ever eaten. See you soon

Delicious food. Fries with truffle mayonnaise and a delicious croquette. Friendly staff. Keep it up.

Very nice business and service is top notch! Friendly staff and very nice. The fries were delicious and there was a wide choice of snacks. The children enjoyed it!

Nice and, above all, customer-friendly people. Tasty fresh fries. Good luck with the new business

Frietmeester Deventer, a very nice place, with delicious fries and snacks. Very diverse. Friendly Staff. Great place, will definitely come back when we are in Deventer again.

Super delicious food, both the fries and snacks! Cozy atmosphere. Very friendly staff and top service!!

Best in town, for a solid price, good service and fresh fries

What a shame that someone now runs the Frietmeester who knows the ropes. The quality of the fries has really deteriorated. Just got fries and snacks for 4 people. The snacks were not in the bag, the sauces were wrong and the fries were cold. And the so-called owner packs the bag himself and meanwhile walks to the hardworking girls. It's a real shame that someone like that ruins a business that the previous owners worked so hard for.

New owners and therefore unfortunately less tasty fries. The previous owners baked much better. The fries were now way too hard. The snacks were fine, but of course it's all about the fries. Bake a little less hard, girls! Hopefully better next time.

Great case, but small is fine in my opinion. The case should be larger, have a bit more space, etc packed with people waiting 😁

New owners but they don't have it completely under control yet. I also miss the customer friendliness that was there before. We had been waiting for a while and a number of people who came after us were told that it would take another twenty minutes (fries still had to be pre-fried). When we asked, it turned out that it also applies to us. Even though someone after us got his fries right away, it was very special. You may not be able to control the crowds, but you should communicate honestly, clearly and in a customer-friendly manner.

You have fries and fries. And these are real fries.

Congratulations! Chicken strips Texas was super tasty 😋 my children also enjoyed it. We'll be back 👋

Good fries, normal price, super nice employees who also want to have a nice chat! Definitely recommended! Hence the 5 stars. This is the expectation at a chip shop

Delicious food!, Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere, what more could you want? Really great! This will really become a regular stop in Deventer!
