Gasterij Aerwinkel in Posterholt

My girlfriend and I were out for a walk, and I suddenly felt unwell. The hospitality staff was very helpful and kind, and we were able to sit down and recover for a bit, and they gave us something to drink and eat to help us feel faint.

A lovely brasserie in a charming village. Lots of hikers and cyclists, but also locals. Even though the kitchen wasn't actually open yet, we were able to have lunch here. It was fantastic! Friendly and quick service, nice menu. Only downside: there were wasps, but nobody can do anything about that.

Always cozy there, though a bit messy. Especially nice after a walk in the woods.

De Gasterij is a hidden gem. A combination of French joie de vivre and Italian la dolce vita. A converted barn that invites you to dream of long winter evenings by the fireplace. A courtyard with a covered terrace where you'll automatically forget the hustle and bustle of the day thanks to the greenery, birds, and flowers. That's De Gasterij!

Three years ago I got married in this guesthouse. At that time it was called Gasterij geluk(-t). The business was run by Metsemakers and the menu was extensive and the food delicious. Although the business has not physically deteriorated since the takeover, the menu has become so small that I was very disappointed when I was there last time. The food that is offered is tasty, but the choice is so limited that there is hardly any choice for lunch, unless you like fresh stone oven pizza. My advice to the owner is therefore to expand the menu with more dishes.

Upon arrival it is a somewhat dilapidated corner, but make no mistake. In the corner there is access to a cozy terrace on a farmyard. Sisters of Divine Providence", an originally French order, who lived at Aerwinkel for 30 years from 1956 to 1986. These buildings are still there, but ready for demolition. Friendly service, excellent food.

Too bad you weren't open, despite the times on the website and Google. We would have liked to have something to drink and eat on this beautiful Sunday. To the tutter sir or madam... if you had taken the trouble to step out and explain, it would have really come across better. Tuutteren is for special events in 013, not in the Limburg forests.

Sat on the terrace on Sunday afternoon, with nice weather and live music, Mediterranean atmosphere. Really enjoyed it!

Today we are back on this beautiful terrace after a long time. A very nice place in a beautiful area. Had a delicious pie with coffee. Delicious asparagus soup with salmon. There are bowls of water for the dogs. Friendly staff. The last time we were here was for our 1 year anniversary. Then we had a delicious picnic basket.

After a walk through the surrounding woods, you fancy coffee and pie. The rice pie was the size of 20 pieces of a pie. So very small. I also ordered whipped cream, also a small cup. The coffee was fine. But charging €14 for 2 coffees with pie and whipped cream is going a long way. The price was also not indicated anywhere.

After a nice walk we were able to take shelter at the guest house. We sat down at a table under a canopy covered with grape bushes where we were helped by a very friendly woman who spoke Dutch very well despite her Brazilian origins and with whom we had a nice chat. We enjoyed several unique specialty beers that tasted very good. We also enjoyed luxurious sandwiches with, among other things, our own honey. The vegetarian salmon, which was made from carrot but was virtually indistinguishable from real salmon, was also very popular. In short, a very nice place to go for a nice drink or lunch when near Roermond.
