We sat here for a while after cycling a bit. Great service and very tasty food, definitely worth repeating.

The salad was okay. The wine was really veeeery mediocre. A simple house wine that isn't restaurant-worthy. A SHAME for over 5 euros for a glass.

My husband and I had lunch here on Whit Monday. It was a lovely sunny day, so we sat outside on the terrace. It was pleasant sitting right in the middle of the village, although the Kruidvat isn't the nicest shop to look out onto. But De Luifel can't do anything about that. However, the food wasn't good, and my well-intentioned suggestions to the owner were also very poorly received. I had a salad with butterfly prawns costing over 16 euros. The salad was of the simplest kind. A small bag emptied, four small egg wedges, a few small pieces of tomato, and three almost translucent slices of cucumber. A very small container of dressing in the middle and plenty of prawns scattered around the dressing. Personally, I don't think the combination of the breaded prawns in the salad is very successful, but it is my own fault that I didn't know butterfly prawns are breaded. There was very little dressing, so I asked for an extra container. However, the waitress had forgotten about it, so I had to try to get her attention again. The service was nice but not very alert. The dressing was sorely needed to make the bland salad even remotely ‘tasty’. Halfway through my meal, it turned out the owner was standing on the terrace, so I wanted to give him some well-intentioned tips. In my opinion, a salad costing that much deserves more attention. However, my tips did not go down well. Owner Patrick said at least ten times that I should have taken a photo of the dish, that it was a hot day and the cook was standing in a hot kitchen, that his staff had already worked very hard for many days, and to top it all off, he said that he personally would never go out to eat anywhere on holidays. I therefore advise everyone to avoid De Luifel on days like these, because apparently you cannot expect them to deliver good work on those days. The owner's tone was unpleasant. Although I started my story by saying that we would of course just pay for everything (I wasn't looking for a discount), he never once said he was sorry the salad was disappointing, but only offered the excuses mentioned above. It is nice as staff to have your boss back you, but the customer shouldn't have to suffer the consequences of holidays, hot weather, and apparently overworked staff. That is not our problem. If you purchase something from somewhere, you are entitled to receive something decent, and if that hasn't happened, at least a decent conversation about it. In Patrick's responses to other dissatisfied customers, I completely recognize his passive-aggressive tone. They won't see us here again!

Great place, just a shame about the lack of melted cheese in the nachos.

We had a delicious meal with very friendly service. The 60s music completed the experience perfectly. You can tell it is done with love and attention. The whipped cream soft serve (dessert) is especially recommended.

Had a delicious carpaccio sandwich. Served on a fresh wholemeal roll. Friendly and fast service and a lovely terrace!

I especially love this hazelnut whipped cream meringue cake. It's not cheap, but it's absolutely delicious.

The atmosphere outdoors is good, weather permitting. It should be noted that the service also contributes to the overall atmosphere; interaction between customers and staff is, and will remain, paramount. Note: If staff lack a sense of humor, the atmosphere is likely to suffer.

Morning and afternoon visits. The whole village doesn't really come alive until 10:00 AM, including the awning. However, once open, the staff are friendly and the coffee is delicious.

Have never had such a large soft ice cream and for that price

Had lunch at this location yesterday. Excellent service, good food. And the staff were patient when I had trouble redeeming my GiftForYou voucher at checkout. Which I eventually managed to do. Super!

Delicious food for a reasonable price

First, the meal was served without cutlery. Unfortunately, the extractor hood was broken. We were the last group to order.

The tastiest soft ice cream in Ruurlo

Had a lovely drink here first, then enjoyed the schnitzel plate and three salmon plates from the lunch menu. Everything was fantastic, with friendly, attentive service. The desserts were a real treat, and the semifreddo was absolutely delicious. Great location, clean restrooms—just absolutely fantastic.

This afternoon we called to ask if we were welcome for lunch with ten people. We were allowed to come, but were seated inside in the conservatory, which we didn't mind. First, we ordered and received drinks, then the order was taken. The waiter/owner had very little patience to calmly take orders, insisting on everyone—six adults and four children—making a quick decision. When the order was taken, it was a very complicated order that could take up to half an hour, and this wasn't explained very kindly. We didn't feel welcome. We decided to pay for our drinks and leave. When we expressed our displeasure, they blamed the children for not placing their orders quickly enough. In short, the stressed waiter/owner wasn't to blame. The woman behind the bar did apologize on behalf of the waiter/owner. What a mess. The Thorbecke family

Hier twee x gestopt tijdens het fietsen in de omgeving. Eén maal koffie met appeltaart en schuimgebak. Gewoon goed. De grootste tegenvaller was de bestelling van een pannenkoek met appel en boterham champignons. De pannenkoek bleek na verificatie uit de diepvries te komen. Een grote lap leer. Eigenlijk niet te eten en dan neem je je klanten en/of toeristen niet serieus. De champignons met brood wat nattig en viel erg tegen. Waarschijnlijk ook uit een potje. Bediening was prima. Achteraf waarschijnlijk ook 2 biertjes te veel afgerekend maar dat is natuurlijk mijn eigen schuld. We zagen wel veel softijs eters dus dat zal wel goed zijn. Jammer van zo’n mooie zaak op een strategisch punt in het dorp. Gemiste kans, wij rijden de volgende x door.

Ordered a ham and cheese toastie today; it had barely touched the toastie maker. And then ordered a drink, a cola that wasn't Pepsi or Coca-Cola, toastie €8.25, drink €3.50 for less than 200ml Once here and never again. I never write reviews, but I am happy to make an exception for this.

Cozy place! And delicious coffee!

The food was fine; we were a group of "eating and cycling." Everyone had almost finished their food, and I, a vegetarian, still hadn't received my food. When I pointed this out, I was treated downright rudely. It was basically my own fault, so I shouldn't be an exception. Then the gentleman started arguing with me, and I was completely done with this place.

Well... just had lunch and it was disappointing. Not terrible, but in relation to the price, it was just mediocre. Very straightforward, and selling 'fresh orange juice' from a chilled carton for 5.25 is practically a rip-off in my opinion. Dated decor, and especially when you walk towards the restroom, you get the feeling you're stepping into a time machine to the 80s. Again, none of it is super bad, but imagine the level of a snack bar plus more than double the prices, and I think you'll understand my feedback.

Of course we are in the autumn, but it was very quiet now. But all in all the food tasted good. We had visited Zelhem. Didn't feel like cooking at home anymore. So that's why we had a bite to eat under the awning.

Fantastische plek om buiten te zitten ( bv tijdens fietstocht), maar dan hem je het ook gehad. Binnen erg oud/achterhaald en de koffie is ongelooflijk slecht ( heet water met bruin kleurtje). Nu twee keer vastgesteld en wij komen hier niet weer!

Had a sandwich while cycling. The sandwich was tasty, but when I think of a chicken sandwich I don't immediately think of fried chicken pieces.

We went to get two large soft ice creams, but apparently there was something wrong with the machine that resulted in a half-cold mediocre ice cream. I was a bit surprised that it was a "large" ice cream, but according to the waiter the "taste was good", so I accepted it anyway. We shouldn't have done that, because it was a sad soft ice cream. So the service really shouldn't have offered it. When we came back half an hour later, the problem had apparently been solved, because the ice creams served looked fine again. We were here two years ago and it was really great ice cream. That's why we were looking forward to it again. Very unfortunate.....

Chicken was still raw. They say they don't do anything with it. So after indicating twice. They just leave you there. Very bad

This week we ate delicious salads on the lovely terrace with a delicious Grolsch beer. Nothing wrong with that. But....we wanted to pay €50 with a Dinner gift card with a credit €100 was charged. At the checkout it was claimed that the entire credit had to be used in one go, which seemed unbelievable to us. We would therefore lose €50 in credit. The staff persisted so we paid in cash. Very unfortunate and extremely unprofessional because when inquiring about Diner Gift's website and customer service, it turned out that this story from the staff is absolutely incorrect. How are we going to remove this bitter aftertaste?

Always good food, service comes by often enough for a drink! Cozy atmosphere every season of the year.

The taste was excellent, but the price-quantity ratio was a bit lacking. More than €25 for two small (say 6x3 cm) pork medallions is quite a lot. The ice cream sundaes were very tasty. Friendly service.

Cozy village restaurant. The "normal" restaurant was full, so we sat in the annex. This was not a pleasant atmosphere, hence the 4 stars for the atmosphere.

We were here on June 15, 2024. When we arrived there was room immediately. We were helped very quickly. The waitress indicated that it was very busy in the kitchen and that we would have to wait a little longer. This wasn't too bad, the coffee was on the table quickly and lunch was also served quickly. What surprised and pleasantly surprised us most was that the coffee was hot, the soup and later the tea too.

Fine, food is more expensive than normal cafe restaurants. The only drawback is the cutlery, which is a bit of a hassle with cutting and holding. Otherwise fine and nice waitress 😉🍀

Er werd geweigerd om even na te vragen of er lactose in de mayonaise van de salade zat. Dit werd door de baas zelf uitgelegd, minutenlang. Daar konden ze in deze drukte echt geen rekening mee houden. Erg onaardig allemaal.

We hadden vantevoren gereserveerd. Het was er niet druk. Dat men nog voordat we besteld hadden alles begon op te ruimen gaf een onbehaaglijk gevoel en we voelden ons niet meer welkom. Eten was niet echt ok. Bediening erg vriendelijk.

Nice restaurant in a nice location but .... ordered twice a coupe of whipped ice cream with a topping. Choose from different toppings such as cherries and strawberries. My wife ordered a cherry, myself a strawberry. What is served next, a coupe glass with soft ice cream and topped with a cherry sauce from a bottle with a pump at the top for my wife and the same for me but with strawberry flavor. For €8.00 per coupe, there should have at least been some fruit on it and not just a flavored sauce and they should also have mentioned that it is soft ice cream. Apparently whipped ice cream is more expensive, which is also reflected in the price.

Very bad food, I had salmon with risotto, according to the waitress there was no risotto, but I did get fries, but the dry old salmon was in a slurry that tasted like rice pudding, maybe that risotto. My girlfriend's chicken in green dredge was also not tasty, the lettuce was worthless and had very bad taste. Drinks very expensive and 3 tables were moved but still a 45 minute wait. Don't eat or drink anywhere

Highly recommended, great seating, cozy and above all hospitable and delicious.

A bit of faded glory. Definitely friendly staff, but also very inconsiderate. The kitchen is of a rather questionable level (at least in my case).

Nice terrace and friendly service. Too bad there was no price list at the tables. Later we also understood why. It is downright scandalous that you have to pay no less than 9 euros for half a liter of Grolsch weizen draft beer. We will never come back here again.

Very nice location for lunch or dinner, atmosphere of a classic library and excellent food and drinks! Fun fact is that you can rent indoor racing tracks here in a beautiful space: something different than a pool table ;-) If you want to relax after a visit to Ruurlo Castle, this is a great address!

Nice old-fashioned restaurant, cafe. Had lunch with a yougift voucher. Sandwiches were delicious, as was the vegetable soup beforehand. We enjoyed.

Een prachtige locatie om even je hoofd leeg te maken en je buik te vullen. Vriendelijk personeel en het eten heerlijk.

Het grote bord buiten op het terras heeft wat weg van een Duitse bierstube. De bediening is erg vriendelijk en het eten is gemiddeld goed. Geen hoogdravend menu maar gewoon een bord eten.

Prima softijs! Veel keuze van dips.

Heerlijk gegeten, werkelijk perfect. Ook de bediening is ontzettend vriendelijk en meegaand. Gaan we vaker naar toe.

Softijsjes gehaald. De gewone softijsjes prima. Maar op de kaart staan ook sorberts met verse aardbeien en chocolade spikkels. In plaats daarvan krijg je aarbeien uit blik en ontbreekt de chocolade....dat mag je wel even vooraf melden.

Toppy hebben er heerlijk gegeten een 10 met een griffel. Personeel ook super en erg vriendelijk

Ik heb er niet gegeten. Werd bediend door een dame die dacht dat ik thee wilde terwijl ik Rivella had gevraagd. Ze verstond geen Nederlands. 1 glas Rivella, dus geen flesje, kostte € 3,10. Dat vind ik best veel voor een enkel glaasje. Ik zal er niet snel weer naar toe gaan
