Wow, what a party! Delicious dishes. Top-notch service.

This is such a lovely spot in Tilburg! The food is high-quality and creative. The tomato dish, in particular, stood out for us. The drinks menu is right up my alley, with wonderful natural wines and beers from top Dutch brands, among others. The service is warm and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere in the restaurant; it exudes tranquility, but above all, a love for good food and drink. We'd love to visit again.

Oh my God ! Just are serving the best possible cabbage, maybe the best in the world. The sauce to it was magical. To finish great combination, please, take and Spanish white Rioja OSOTI. Great personnel, great shefs, extraordinary place. Loved it.

The smallest restaurant in Tilburg, but so incredibly good! Super friendly staff and delicious appetizers! Speaking of which, you're supposed to order several dishes to share. The dishes are small enough, and you can try a wide variety of (delicious) things. We'll definitely be back!

Cosy, snug and atmospheric restaurant with original dishes that are well seasoned. Every dish is a little surprise. The service is friendly and attentive, which contributes to the pleasant atmosphere. The wines are on the pricey side, but the quality makes up for a lot. Make a reservation in time, because it fills up quickly and that says enough of course 😉

Last year an unknown restaurant received 13.5 points at the Gault&Millau awards. That immediately caught my attention. Because it is mainly a vegetable restaurant, our first visit took a little longer. It is a relatively small restaurant in the center of Tilburg and the interior reminded me of a Parisian bistro. It is run by a young couple. They have a good wine list, mainly organic and natural wines with quite a few wines by the glass. In addition to the menu there are a few open bottles. Dishes are well prepared and nicely seasoned, the lamb dish was my favorite and the vegetable dishes certainly did not disappoint me while my partner was very enthusiastic about them. Service is excellent with clear explanations of the dishes which made it clear that they mainly work with local products. Also not unimportant, the prices are modest.

What a great restaurant! Choice of various original small dishes that you can share or keep for yourself. Every dish is right in terms of taste and presentation. A lot of use of local products. Service is very friendly and "knowledgeable". Knowing what is in every dish and where the products come from. We enjoyed it and will definitely come back.

Nice restaurant in the center of Tilburg. We had a lunch menu here. Nice, attentive and knowledgeable service. Varied menu with a vegetarian main course, which was very tasty. Drank several open white open wines which also tasted very good. We recommend eating here!

A truly delightful dining experience! Every dish was full of surprises — beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The creativity and flavor combinations really impressed us. The only downside was that two dishes (the artichoke and mussels) had a bit of sand in them, which was unfortunate. But aside from that, everything else was perfect. Service was excellent, and the ambiance was warm and inviting. We will definitely return and highly recommend this place!

Tijdens een wandeling in Tilburg besloten we ook om s’avonds in deze stad te eten. We gebruiken al jaren de site van Tripadvisor om dan een keuze te maken, waarbij ikzelf ook al jaren een stukje schrijf. En zodoende kwamen we dit restaurant tegen waar al een paar jaar alleen maar goede recensies over waren geschreven. En inderdaad wow: vriendelijk personeel, kennis van zaken, heerlijke wijnen en gerechten die apart zijn, zeer smaakvol met aparte ingrediënten die je triggeren om meer van die gerechten te nemen. En ja het is even wennen als je de menukaart ziet met namen van gerechten die je niet kent. We namen 12 kleine gerechten om deels te delen: tartelette met spruitjes, apart, brioche met ansjovis met geitenboter, heel smakelijk , de snoekbaars bijna rauw met paksoi ook fijn. Dan de raap met karnemelk in lavas die had ik gewoon nog een keer moeten bestellen. Enzo gingen we het lijstje af en proefde de een nog smakelijker als de ander. De wijnen, gewoon per glas te bestellen want elke fles kon wel open. Een oranje wijn mochten we eerst proeven en die had niet onze smaak. Wel de Viognier en later de krachtige Rioja reserva uit 2018. De rode uit Sicilië was prima en als laatst nog een Vermouth, smakelijk. Kei tevreden al vind ik dan een flesje plat water voor € 5,80, dat mag ook gewoon kraanwater zijn voor niks. Ik begrijp dat de gerechten nog al eens veranderen dus blijf ik nieuwsgierig naar een volgende keer.

Had a super nice experience at restaurant GIST! Cozy place where you can sit comfortably, very surprising dishes that taste really good and a wide range of very tasty wines. Had a great evening, definitely recommended!!

We had dinner at Gist last Sunday and it was really great. This unique place is very cozy, the service is professional but also personal and above all, both the food and wines are fantastic. We like to eat out, but we haven't left a restaurant with such enthusiasm in a long time. The highlight of the evening was the Kohlrabi with smoked beurre blanc and beurre noisette! We will definitely come back

Wij hebben afgelopen zondag bij Gist gegeten, en het was echt geweldig. In dit uniek zaakje zit je erg gezellig, is de service professioneel maar ook persoonlijk en bovenal is zowel het eten als de wijnen fantastisch. Wij gaan graag uiteten, maar hebben al lang niet meer zo enthousiast een restaurant verlaten. Het hoogtepunt van de avond was de Koolrabi met gerookte beurre blanc en beurre noisette! Wij komen zeker terug

Special dinner experience. A lot of attention has been paid to the dishes, making every bite special. The service is young, motivated and very friendly. The chef also takes his turn to explain the dishes. The wine list is extensive and has something for everyone. In short, we had a very nice evening.

Update: Had yeast again yesterday. Completely different menu this time in winter style. Really enjoyed all the different culinary dishes. The bakkeljouw balls and the pumpkin dish were a particular favorite. I also noticed that the staff is extremely knowledgeable about all dishes and wines/drinks. Homemade lemonades are also highly recommended for people who do not drink alcohol. Once again we had a very good experience. Very cozy restaurant. Staff were friendly and very knowledgeable about all the different types of wine. Tried many different culinary dishes and everything tasted excellent! Definitely come back again.

Voor een lunch met onze familie kwamen we met 10 personen naar GIST. Uiteraard wel even gereserveerd en het menu tevoren besproken. De ontvangst was heel hartelijk, de gerechten op sterrenniveau en de bediening voortreffelijk. Het was een lunch die we niet snel zullen vergeten. GIST is een aanwinst voor Tilburg. Warm aanbevolen!

Great food, ditto wines and the nicest service.

I can't rave enough about Gist. It has become my favorite restaurant since my first visit. I have had so many dishes that have blown my mind, all using modest local, seasonal ingredients with a big emphasis on vegetables. This also allows them to charge relatively modest prices. The service, the wine list, the beer list, everything shows great attention and love for good food and drinks. And they are also super nice and attentive people.

The portions were very small and overpriced. It tasted good but not as special as you would expect and in the end that's what I'm going for. So not recommended for me.

The food was really tasty and the service was certainly top notch. The acoustics are poor, there were four of us and we had difficulty hearing each other. We also missed the explanation about the food. the buzz around us, very unfortunate!

We had quite high expectations of GIST because of all the good stories, these were fully met. The dishes are all surprising, unique and delicious. The price quality is fantastic and the service is of a high level. We would love to come back here.

The snacks are tasty, but far too few and quite expensive for what you get. After lunch we went to the bakery to get a sandwich because we were still hungry. It was drafty inside and it was cold.

Van de ontvangst tot en met vertrek, alles top. De gerechten, het verhaal erbij, de originaliteit, de ingrediënten, de smaken, de ambiance, het personeel, de service, de wijnen. Wat mij aanspreekt is dat je meerdere gerechten bestelt. We hebben met z’n vieren heel wat gerechten besteld, alles even lekker en bijzonder. Wij hebben dus heerlijk gegeten en gedronken met topservice in een heel prettige ambiance. Het restaurant is klein en mede daardoor cosy. Ik kom zeker terug.

The dishes are relatively expensive. If you pay around €40 per person for lunch and you still have the feeling that your stomach is not filled, then the dishes are on the small side. In terms of taste it is fine, but the plate could be better filled.

Great modern quinine, dishes to share, amazing quality yet not too fancy and reasonably priced with a focus on local and sustainable produce; best in class chicken or North Sea fish, like the mullet and squid we got. Great vegetarian dishes available as well, like koolrabi with a selection of seaweeds. If you’re lucky, chefs come and see you at the table for some extra TLC, staff is also knowledgeable and friendly. Great selection of wines they’re well familiar with so feel free to ask for recommendations. They also have the fancy towels at the restroom. This gives you a complete culinary experience at Gist. At Gist they color neatly outside the lines. Highly recommended!

Het restaurant ziet er klein en eenvoudig uit, maar dat zijn de gerechten zeker niet. Het concept om meerdere kleine gerechten te kiezen spreekt ons aan. De gerechten zijn verrassend en van goede kwaliteit. Chef Niek gebruikt eerlijke producten en dat proef je. Wij kozen eitje hollandaise met sambal matah, komkommer szechuan met sjalot, kemper landhoen, hamachi met appel en miso, andijvie met XOsaus en geitenkaas en al nagerecht abrikoos, sorbet en yoghurt en wat kazen. Elk gerecht werd toegelicht en eigenaresse Lenore adviseerde goed passende wijnen of siroop met (bruis)water. Al met al een heerlijke ervaring.

Onze eerste ervaring met Gist was geweldig, de reprise nog beter. Het concept is wat ons betreft super: kleine gerechtjes en de mogelijkheid tot sharing. Het persoonlijke contact met de chef Niek en de bediening zorgt voor een fijne beleving. De zaak is niet erg groot maar er is voldoende privacy. Enige minpuntje vind ik dat de jassen niet naar de garderobe gaan. De garderobe is in de kelder. Jassen over de stoel in een restaurant vind ik altijd afbreuk doen aan de sfeer. Maar dat valt in het niet bij de kwaliteit van het eten. Vooraf heerlijke ansjovis op toast, als hoofdgerecht asperges in een palingsaus en harder in een rabarbersaus. Verfijnde smaken en perfect klaargemaakt. Dan op advies van de chef de aubergines. Pittig, met oosterse accenten en prikkelende ingrediënten. Als dessert een heerlijke sorbet en een kaasplankje met kazen uit Nederland die kunnen concurreren met de gerenommeerde buitenlandse kazen. Tot slot een groene thee met een leuke attentie omdat we iets te vieren hadden. De begeleidende wijn was een Grauburgunder uit Duitsland, top! Kortom, een heerlijke middag waar alles goed aan was. Deze plek is een pareltje in de Tilburgse horeca. Niek en het team bedankt!

Wij hebben hier echt een heerlijke avond gehad. Het eten was fantastisch lekker met smaakcombinaties die echt heerlijk waren. De ingrediënten kwamen ook nog eens uit de regio, waarbij er ook rekening gehouden werd met het seizoen en milieu. Tevens was er expertise en een uitgebreid aanbod aan verschillende dranken. Van lekkere wijnen, speciaalbieren tot een 0.0 assortiment. Het vriendelijke personeel dat met passie en kunde aan het werk was en veel toelichting bij de gerechten gaf, maakte het de kers op de taart waardoor wij zeker nog een keer teruggaan.

I try to describe in words what you should actually experience with your taste buds. Gist is a place where the passion of the entire team shines through and the friendliness feels like a warm bath. The dishes are all brilliant combinations of flavors that blend so subtly that I occasionally want to shed a tear. The rich creamy eel skin sauce in combination with the smoky asparagus from the BBQ almost brings me into ecstasy and the Geuldallam kebab reminded me of a holiday in Greece even though I have never been there. The ice cream waffle with beurre noisette reminds me of a traditional cookie shop in Bruges. In short; everything brings so much feeling and blissful moments. After every visit I always have the same question: when are we going again?! Congratulations on your 1 year anniversary :)

Incredibly tasty. The kohlrabi was the surprise of the afternoon. Didn't know kohlrabi could be so tasty🥰. The Geuldal lamb, deliciously prepared in a Middle Eastern style, was fantastic. A delicious red wine from Italy finishes it off. With coffee, an ice cream waffle home made with beurre noisette ice cream. Yeast: A constant source of culinary inventiveness and lasting surprises. We ate at Gist for the second time, and again we were not disappointed. The menu seems to be regularly refreshed, and the dishes radiate passion, love and above all fun, as we can see, taste and hear from the dedicated staff. No idle talk here, but fresh ingredients that have been creatively put together into tasty and, above all, honest dishes. My belief that this restaurant offers the ultimate value for money remains unchanged after this second experience. No other tent can compete with that! Even if you are momentarily distracted by the conventional wine list, you will soon be immersed again in the warm atmosphere by the friendly staff and reasonable prices. Everything falls into place: an intimate setting, exceptionally friendly, helpful and passionate staff without pretensions, honest, beautiful and delicious dishes that only bring what really matters to the plate. And all this for a price for which you would hardly get a bottle of wine and a starter elsewhere. What I sometimes lack in Michelin restaurants is proven here for the second time: the surprise in every dish. I believe this is due to the expression of passion and sincerity, both in the dishes and in the service. Thank you for another wonderful evening. We will definitely come back. :)

Yesterday - Christmas Eve - we ate at Gist for the fourth time and enjoyed all the dishes again. If you like “all-you-can-eat-for-little-money”, this is not the place for you. This is a place for foodies. At Gist you will be surprised with every dish. For example, if I choose “herfstraap l rettich l yuzu” I have no idea what it will look like or what it will taste like. That makes it fun and exciting. All in all, I have now tasted an estimated 25 to 30 different dishes and there was not one dish that was disappointing. On the contrary, they were without exception delicious! What I find special is that even a dish with an ingredient you don't like (you thought) turns out to be super tasty. Niek is a master at creating special combinations and textures. And the service by Lenore and colleagues is warm, you really feel welcome and "at home". With every dish that is served, Niek or Lenore explains what the ingredients are and often where they come from. There is one disadvantage: if you cook yourself again the next day, the result will be a disappointment. 😉
