Grand Café 1837 in Nootdorp

Just attended the Christmas Eve dinner 2024. An event where the focus was not on the guest, but on Blue Velvet Café. A music trio that, according to 1837, presents a broad repertoire of music in the background. During my visit to this restaurant it was not entirely clear to me what was meant by background. The loud shouting of these over-age "cowboys" not only put themselves in the center of the spotlight, but also made it impossible for those present to talk to each other in a decent manner. In my opinion, the customer should be king and feel like a guest, after all, I am paying, not third-rate musicians who make way too loud noise and still think they are good. Worthless. Let's also talk about money, why do you have to pay separately for a bowl of fries or stewed pears, €6.50 and €6.75, in addition to a reasonable menu price? Isn't that just a garnish for your dish? Left this place with a very disappointed feeling and will not be returning anytime soon.

The bar area was beautifully decorated, creating a great atmosphere. All our guests were very enthusiastic about the friendly service. Snacks and drinks were perfectly fine.

Onlangs met 10 vrienden in de Boerenstal gegeten. Zeer goede ervaring! Uitstekende bediening. Voortreffelijke kwaliteit gerechten (voorgerecht 'Samen delen'!!). Comfortabel meubilair. En....geen 'achtergrondmuzak'. Kortom: warm aanbevolen. Tinus Verwijmeren

Een teleurstelling, jammer. Vriendelijk personeel dat wel. Bij een snackbar is het eten lekkerder. Handgemaakte bal gehakt, het enige wat ze met de hand hebben gedaan is het blik opendraaien. Croquetten ben der een liefhebber van, je moet je schamen om deze te verkopen Geen centje sfeer in de eetruimte, we zijn teleurgesteld, sorry. Zelfs het brood komt zeker niet van de warme bakker! En de rekening is voor deze kwaliteit veel te hoog.

We had afternoon tea/high tea with a baby shower. They should really indicate parking space better, especially if you are not familiar with it. But after you have found a parking space, it is a super nice old farm with lots of delicacies. Staff is nice and the food is good.

Price-quality ratio is completely lost. Meat dish and fish dish high price but without vegetables/fries etc. Cheese board 4 very thin small pieces of cheese for 12.50 is a shame.

Came for a wedding reception and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food, attentiveness of the staff and the overall experience. It was lovely. The food was excellent (who would have thought that a panna cotta with strawberries would go well with a basil cream/mousse? It was delicious), it was a wonderful evening and I'd highly recommend the venue for wedding receptions

The cappuccino sloshed over the cup, the waitress didn't even notice. She walked back to the kitchen to 'clean' it. Unfortunately, the cup remained very dirty. Something like this can happen…. Then resolve it neatly. Shame!

The party evening for my 60th birthday was fantastic. Super friendly service, always new tasty snacks. Everything was there and the people of 1837 had everything for you. No worries. Thanks to you, it was a really great party, where I didn't have to do anything, just enjoy! Thank you

I've been here twice now and both times I found the service not very friendly or pleasant. This is an area for improvement. Furthermore, a nice terrace with sun and shade. I think prices are on the high side

Food fine. Drink prices way too high. Also annoying that you are asked to choose bread or fries and it is not said that you pay extra for fries.

Very disappointed. Enjoy a snack and a drink with the girls. We ordered the yakitori chicken skewers and some other dishes. The chicken looked like just thawed chicken which had a very nasty flubbery consistency. Therefore returned after a few bites. 10 minutes later the insecure waiter came to tell us that they could not take it off the bill even though we had eaten almost nothing. Then just offer bitterballen. Very bad and wouldn't recommend it. We also had to wait a very long time for drinks. Pricey for what it is. Please spend your money on a better place with better service and food.

I celebrated my 50th birthday party here yesterday with family, friends and colleagues. And it was really well organised. Thank you people from Grand Café 1837. It really is a great location

Ruim 9 weken van tevoren gereserveerd en 2 weken voor de datum afgebeld want de huisarts van de eigenaresse nam afscheid en heeft de hele zaak afgehuurd. Zonder enige vorm van coulance (en zelfs nog een sneer over hoe Nederland aan het veranderen is, alsof het mijn schuld zou zijn!!!) werd ik afgewimpeld (oh ja, en ik ben er zo een die gelijk achter het toetsenbord kruipt!!!!!). Nog nooit in mijn leven zo beschimpt, wat een vreselijke ervaring.

Raar dat ze wel open zijn om 3uur maar dat de keuken tussen 3 en 5 dicht is en je dus geen broodje kunt bestellen???? Geen aanrader wat dat betreft

Grand Café 1837 is a place we regularly return to for delicious food. It is absolutely recommended!

Tasty and affordable lunch in a cozy place with a beautiful interior. The sandwich with crispy goat cheese tasted very good in combination with the figs and syrup. The lighting and the beautiful pointed roof with beams create a cozy atmosphere. It was nice that decaf coffee was available. The staff is friendly and the service fast. Recommended! Update: delicious chocolate nut cake.

Retirement drinks and dinner. Well organised, guests extremely satisfied with the location, service, drinks and dinner. Friendly staff, alert during drinks and dinner. Had some practical wishes, that was no problem. In short, recommended. And a real winner is the Josper Salmon.

Delicious dinner at the invitation of the parents-in-law for their 55th wedding anniversary. Good as always. Relaxed in the Farmer's stable.

We had a super fun party evening at cafe 1837. Everything was perfectly taken care of, no one was left wanting for anything, the atmosphere was super cozy and the employees were very friendly and helpful! Recommended!

Sleek restaurant with enough space for privacy. It's a bit businesslike, but I don't mind that either. Plenty of free parking on site, friendly staff and, above all, delicious food.

The conceit with which you are received here is, in my opinion, appropriate. not at home in the catering industry! We have been turned away or led away from our desired and unreserved tables several times, both outside in the summer and inside in the winter. On several occasions we had to brave smart-aleck comments from employees and even from a haughty manager/owner, which left you as a guest feeling downright insulted. I didn't notice a hospitable attitude here. The food is mediocre at best, often downright bad, that's what I think and what I hear from many people in our local network. I give it two stars. The furniture, place settings and staff are not in harmony. I find the staff haughty in attitude and the staff uniform is reminiscent of faux chic hotels. The prices are also approximately at that level. On the other hand, the seats and tables are small, in any case not chic, the floor is messy, there is not enough space to sit on a bar stool at the bar, etc.. After the tables from which we had been sent away remained empty, we saw no service for a long time, it seemed out of shame. When our glasses were empty it took a while before we saw anyone from the service again. Edit: In response to the owner who responded to my original review full of incomprehension (since deleted): The review states the motivation for my rating: Behavior, taste and price. Besides, you confused me with another guest. My last visit was at lunchtime, not on February 3, and I apparently made my displeasure sufficiently known. What a nice cozy tent, a truly typical village restaurant in the picturesque Nootdorp. Menu was excellent. Wide choice with side dishes as a choice, service nice.

We had a great party here that was taken care of down to the last detail. Delicious snacks, drinks, good atmosphere, great service... in short, extremely well taken care of. Can definitely recommend it and we would love to come back. Team 1837, thank you very much!

The food and place are really good. We got a table near the kid’s play corner which was perfect. The kids were playing and came to eat when the food arrived. We all enjoyed a lovely afternoon eating and chatting.

19-08-23 hebben wij onze bruiloft hier gevierd. Ceremonie en bbq-buffet. Fantastisch verzorgd allemaal!! Top sfeer, mooi aangekleed, heerlijk eten, teamwork in de bediening, service geweldig.

Toevallig hier gestopt op het terras, na een fietstocht door de streek. Mooi terras. Jonge, maar vriendelijke bediening. Geen pasta op de kaart. Jammer, want daar hadden we net zin in... Maar de steak van de chef en de zalm waren erg smakelijk en mooi gepresenteerd. We hebben ervan genoten.

Wir waren am Samstag Abend mit 3 Personen zum Abendessen dort. Das Essen war sehr gut, die Preise sind angemessen.

Hele mooie zaak, heerlijke broodjes, lekker menukaart.......inmiddels een aantal keer geweest en nog steeds een uitstekend brasserie/eetcafe/restaurant.......gezellig terras waar het goed toeven is. Heerlijke appeltaart.

Goede menu kaart. Lekker de ruimte tussen de tafels. Heerlijke biefstuk.

Understaff and disappointing foods.

de onvangst is heel hartelijk,en goede vriendelijke bediening . de broodjes vielen tegen ..te veel mayo in de salade en op de broodjes en rommelig belegd . de borden waren niet gezellig opgemaakt . zijn het niet gewend bij jullie ! jammer .

We waren daar na een uitvaart, dus geen feestelijke gelegenheid. De koffie was goed, misschien iets te sterk. We kregen broodjes die echt super waren. Echt lekkere bolletjes met goed beleg. Bediening deedt z'n uiterste best om iedereen tevreden te houden. Ik ga hier graag nog een keer naartoe.
