A really lovely location for a nice meal or to celebrate your wedding! Very good coordination, very helpful, delicious food, and good service.

We ate here again; always good experiences. The food is truly prepared with care and is good. The service is attentive and friendly, and they regularly come to ask if everything is to our liking. You can tell that the ladies are genuinely attentive, even though the terrace is full; you don't see that very often anymore.

The acoustics in the main hall are terrible. Even with only a few people in the room, there's a reverberation. It's difficult to have a normal conversation. This is a real shame, and I think something could be done about it. With a ceiling. Or acoustic dampening. Otherwise, it's a fine restaurant.

Last Sunday, after a round of Geocaching, it was already a bit later than planned (6:00 PM), and we stopped by 1837. We thought, don't feel like cooking, let's grab a quick bite here. There were two or three other groups sitting on the terrace. The rest of the tables were empty with 'reserved' signs on them. When we asked if the three of us could eat without a reservation, we were given very difficult looks and were given a table somewhere in the back. Since we were quite hungry, we decided to order a main course right away: kids' pasta bolognese, a meal salad (one ingredient of which was out of stock), and a burger from the Josti grill. While only one other group sat down during the time we were there, all the 'reserved' tables remained empty.... We ended up waiting an hour for the aforementioned dishes; honestly, that doesn't exactly make you happy. We had to indicate several times that we thought it was taking a very long time. In addition, the hamburger costs €17.50, and for that price, it doesn't even come with fries! It is tasty, but not worth the money. The pasta was no more than okay; as if a children's dish matters less, I cook it better at home. The salad was fine, despite the missing key ingredient. In hindsight, this wasn't the first time we've had a similar experience at 'ons 1837' (we live around the corner in Biesland). This is certainly a reason not to come here again for the time being. It seems as if more and more tables have been added without the kitchen growing along with it. Furthermore, there appears to be significant shrinkflation when it comes to the food itself. An apology was made upon payment with something like 'large party next door,' but just mention that when we ask if there is room; then the expectations and understanding are completely different. If, as a restaurant, you offer something like a baguette or some olives with the drinks free of charge, those are small things that create goodwill. Unfortunately, the commercial approach at 1837 no longer seems to fully align with our expectations. It is a real shame; we used to enjoy coming here often..

We had another very good experience at 1837. Due to the beautiful weather, a long table for 17 people was set outside. No effort was too much to set up the parasols properly. The varied lunch consisted of delicious small dishes. The service was simply perfect. We experienced excellent customer friendliness. Highly recommended!!

It was amazing! I eat gluten-free and everything was taken care of; I could eat with the rest! Delicious starters, even small gluten-free appetizers... we were with a large group and there were more allergies and dietary requirements, and everything was so well organized and the food was delicious. For years, this has been a wonderful restaurant, where the pleasant atmosphere makes it a pleasure to have lunch or dinner. I recently celebrated my birthday here with a shared lunch; highly recommended!

On Valentine's Day, we called late to see if a table was still available. We could come between 7:45 PM and 8:00 PM. Upon arrival, the parking lot was barricaded by a traffic cone. We moved the cone aside, drove onto it, and put it back. The owner came outside to inform us that she was fully booked, that the cone was there for a reason, and that the parking lot closes earlier than the adjacent Cultura?! When we mentioned that we had made a reservation by phone, she indicated that we could walk with her. Not exactly a customer-friendly welcome. It is a shame, because it makes dining less relaxed than you had intended. The hot-smoked salmon tasted good, by the way. The burger was disappointing. For us, this visit was unfortunately a disappointment.

This was my first time having dinner here, as I’ve only been for lunch before. The young lady serving us was very friendly and helpful. Once she realised I spoke English, she switched to English, which was very nice of her. The food was excellent. I had the vegetarian gevulde portobello, and my friend had the vegan tajine. Both dishes were delicious, beautifully presented, and it was great to see a good selection of vegetarian options. For dessert, we had the chocolate nut tart, which was absolutely delicious, and the lemon meringue tart, which was also very good. I would definitely recommend that you give it a try.

Just attended the 2024 Christmas Eve dinner. An event where the guest was not the focus, but Blue Velvet Café was. A musical trio that, according to 1837, presents a wide repertoire of music in the background. During my visit to this restaurant, it did not become entirely clear to me what was meant by "background." Due to the deafening screaming of these aging "cowboys," they not only placed themselves in the spotlight but also made it impossible for those present to talk to each other in a decent manner. In my opinion, the customer should be king and feel like a guest; after all, I am paying, not third-rate musicians who make way too much noise and actually think they are good. Worthless. Speaking of money for a moment, why do you have to pay separately for a side of fries or stewed pears—€6.50 and €6.75—in addition to a reasonable menu price? Surely that is just supposed to be a garnish with your dish? I left this place feeling particularly disappointed and will not be returning anytime soon.

Een teleurstelling, jammer. Vriendelijk personeel dat wel. Bij een snackbar is het eten lekkerder. Handgemaakte bal gehakt, het enige wat ze met de hand hebben gedaan is het blik opendraaien. Croquetten ben der een liefhebber van, je moet je schamen om deze te verkopen Geen centje sfeer in de eetruimte, we zijn teleurgesteld, sorry. Zelfs het brood komt zeker niet van de warme bakker! En de rekening is voor deze kwaliteit veel te hoog.

We had afternoon tea/high tea with a baby shower. They should really indicate parking space better, especially if you are not familiar with it. But after you have found a parking space, it is a super nice old farm with lots of delicacies. Staff is nice and the food is good.

Price-quality ratio is completely lost. Meat dish and fish dish high price but without vegetables/fries etc. Cheese board 4 very thin small pieces of cheese for 12.50 is a shame.

Came for a wedding reception and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food, attentiveness of the staff and the overall experience. It was lovely. The food was excellent (who would have thought that a panna cotta with strawberries would go well with a basil cream/mousse? It was delicious), it was a wonderful evening and I'd highly recommend the venue for wedding receptions

The cappuccino sloshed over the cup, the waitress didn't even notice. She walked back to the kitchen to 'clean' it. Unfortunately, the cup remained very dirty. Something like this can happen…. Then resolve it neatly. Shame!

Very disappointed. Enjoy a snack and a drink with the girls. We ordered the yakitori chicken skewers and some other dishes. The chicken looked like just thawed chicken which had a very nasty flubbery consistency. Therefore returned after a few bites. 10 minutes later the insecure waiter came to tell us that they could not take it off the bill even though we had eaten almost nothing. Then just offer bitterballen. Very bad and wouldn't recommend it. We also had to wait a very long time for drinks. Pricey for what it is. Please spend your money on a better place with better service and food.

Ruim 9 weken van tevoren gereserveerd en 2 weken voor de datum afgebeld want de huisarts van de eigenaresse nam afscheid en heeft de hele zaak afgehuurd. Zonder enige vorm van coulance (en zelfs nog een sneer over hoe Nederland aan het veranderen is, alsof het mijn schuld zou zijn!!!) werd ik afgewimpeld (oh ja, en ik ben er zo een die gelijk achter het toetsenbord kruipt!!!!!). Nog nooit in mijn leven zo beschimpt, wat een vreselijke ervaring.

Raar dat ze wel open zijn om 3uur maar dat de keuken tussen 3 en 5 dicht is en je dus geen broodje kunt bestellen???? Geen aanrader wat dat betreft

Tasty and affordable lunch in a cozy place with a beautiful interior. The sandwich with crispy goat cheese tasted very good in combination with the figs and syrup. The lighting and the beautiful pointed roof with beams create a cozy atmosphere. It was nice that decaf coffee was available. The staff is friendly and the service fast. Recommended! Update: delicious chocolate nut cake.

Sleek restaurant with enough space for privacy. It's a bit businesslike, but I don't mind that either. Plenty of free parking on site, friendly staff and, above all, delicious food.

The conceit with which you are received here is, in my opinion, appropriate. not at home in the catering industry! We have been turned away or led away from our desired and unreserved tables several times, both outside in the summer and inside in the winter. On several occasions we had to brave smart-aleck comments from employees and even from a haughty manager/owner, which left you as a guest feeling downright insulted. I didn't notice a hospitable attitude here. The food is mediocre at best, often downright bad, that's what I think and what I hear from many people in our local network. I give it two stars. The furniture, place settings and staff are not in harmony. I find the staff haughty in attitude and the staff uniform is reminiscent of faux chic hotels. The prices are also approximately at that level. On the other hand, the seats and tables are small, in any case not chic, the floor is messy, there is not enough space to sit on a bar stool at the bar, etc.. After the tables from which we had been sent away remained empty, we saw no service for a long time, it seemed out of shame. When our glasses were empty it took a while before we saw anyone from the service again.
