Grand Café Emmeloord in Wijk 01 Emmeloord

I saw some negative reviews when I looked for this restaurant. We gave it a try anyway. We arrived around noon and were greeted warmly by the young man behind the bar. He also took our drink orders and lunch orders. Shortly after, about 15 minutes later, we received our food, which we thoroughly enjoyed.

Just don't do it! Gross mess, and absolutely disgusting everywhere! Food (meat) completely dry and cooked way too long. Even with a discount, it's a real waste of money.

The floor is sticky everywhere you walk. The restrooms are filthy, like going to a nightclub. The food was decent, but I wouldn't go back. The steak was full of tendons. For four people, you only got one small portion of fries, even though every dish was supposed to come with salad and fries. After asking, we were reluctantly given another portion. The prices on their website also differ from the menu you receive.

After an afternoon of shopping in Emmeloord, we wanted to have a nice drink and a bite to eat late in the afternoon or early evening. This place appealed to us; it's a great location. 😃 However, once we got inside and sat down at a table, we had to swallow hard: phew, what a filthy place! Absolutely everything was filthy. Tables were still completely covered from (I think) the afternoon. Dried-out tea bags and lots of other junk were everywhere, and it just wasn't cleared away. The windows were incredibly dirty; basically everything was not OK, too much to mention... The staff was also completely inexperienced and seemed completely disinterested in what they were doing. One of our table companions had to use the restroom. And that's where it really confirmed that EVERYTHING is completely wrong. And extremely unsanitary! THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE! We will NEVER be coming here AGAIN!

Food tasteless, seats dirty with dog hair, very noisy, toilets dirty and only accessible via stairs.

WARNING!! DO NOT EAT HERE!! The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority should close this place immediately! Given the persistent negative reviews, which report several people getting sick from the food, I'd like to add my two cents. It was December 30th, around 5:30 PM. At first glance, the place looked decent. There were only six guests at most. A friend and I sat down at a table. The staff were more focused on their own phones than on the guests. Unprofessional and far below par. Overall hygiene in the restaurant: poor. Uncleaned tables, crumbs, stains, and indeed, as other reviews have stated, there was glass scattered on the floor. The restrooms were downright DISGUSTING!! The restrooms of a crowded party bar at 5:00 AM are even cleaner. The administration leaves a lot to be desired: they forgot to charge me for three drinks and an appetizer. And the icing on the cake: being served a rotten flat iron steak! Now, I'm no expert, but in retrospect, all the alarm bells should have gone off when I found the meat smelly. Upon returning to the Van Der Valk hotel, I broke out in a cold sweat, and less than 10 minutes later, the trash can was half full of flat iron steak. NEVER, EVER EAT HERE!!! LET THIS BE ANOTHER WARNING TO EVERYONE WHO READS THIS!! @NVWA I hope you're reading this and will launch an investigation. This is beyond the pale!

Everything was great! Fast service, delicious food, cozy atmosphere.

Delicious food for a reasonable price

The food is delicious! The restaurant looks good at first glance. And the location is beautifully situated. Only you see rubbish everywhere, the chewing gum was pressed onto the wooden trusses. Door handles that are missing or broken.

Drinks board did not look attractive. We were unsure whether the sausage was still good. Everything was a bit dirty and sticky and we had to wait a long time for service. Cocktails were tasty (not much choice of alcohol).

Well, not to come back! Was very sick from the Rendang, tried to reach them about being sick from the meat, but no responses, unfortunately!! So guests take note

Unfortunately I have to say that I was very disappointed. - The food was very poorly seasoned - The price-performance ratio is not right at all.

Just a nice cafe, with some lessons learned and areas for improvement. But definitely don't ignore it. Sandwiches were great! Everything was fresh! I didn't like the soup a lot, but that could be a matter of taste. It certainly wasn't bad, could have been a bit creamier for a leek soup. The ambiance here is really nice, the owner is very friendly. Tip; Radiate your passion, you can do it! Just throw on the enthusiasm on top, people love it.

The restaurant was just dirty. Windows dirty on the inside. There were leftovers everywhere under the tables and we saw glasses scattered here and there while waiting for our food. From small pieces to quite large. The sofas and chairs had been thoroughly swept long ago. The upholstery of the chairs had many stains. Shame. Even if it is a bar in the evening. It can and should be normal as a restaurant during the day. The food was tasty there and then. But because it was dirty and sloppy everywhere, we had in the back of our minds that the kitchen could be completely rancid. If it is already that way in plain sight. Then behind doors completely. Hope the owner reads this and does something about it regarding his staff because it is a beautiful location and beautifully decorated restaurant. That they rinse thoroughly and clean up all the cigarette butts from the terrace. Because what a contrast with the terrace opposite. You won't see us there anymore anyway.

Unfortunately, a good service culture is rare in the Netherlands, especially in smaller cities. If you have lived in the Netherlands all your life, then of course you will not notice the difference, but if you have lived in different countries of the world, then the intrusiveness of waiters in the Netherlands causes discomfort :(

High tea was well taken care of

Had high tea via Social Deal. Everything fine, nothing to complain for that money! Nice cafe, pity it was so quiet!

Food was good, service bad. Far too few staff with full occupancy of tables. Plates with missing pieces, used placemats (dirty), table with missing edges, dirty toilets, dirty floor and so on.

Had high tea here but what a disappointment. Nothing was fresh, supermarket pastries and frozen pizza thrown on a snack board, not worth the money

Nice location in the middle of Emmeloord. Friendly but fairly inexperienced staff. Taking orders was a bit slow. Food otherwise ok. Cappuccino not the best but good enough

This restaurant visit was far from satisfying. We had to wait more than 20 minutes before anyone asked us what we wanted to drink. The coffee I ordered was lukewarm and did not taste good. When the soup arrived, the meatball and vegetable I ordered was missing, and the soup was cold and resembled broth. When I spoke to the waiter about this, he said that the soup had been collected from the neighbors, but that it could be heated up. I decided to order the main course, the chicken satay, but this too did not meet my expectations. It turned out not to be chicken satay, but chicken thigh meat that was also undercooked. All in all, this was a disappointing experience that I won't be repeating anytime soon.

We had a nice meal, but the chicken satay we had as a main course was not restaurant quality. Fries were lukewarm and mayonnaise was in a disposable container so it sticks to your fries when you use it. Great food, but restaurant prices and the quality was not really up to par. Employees very friendly but not very fast. Clearing tables is not a priority here. Dessert was delicious.

Terrible place, terrible service, terrible food... Additionally, they cheat people out of money and charge more than what was ordered. I highly do not recommend this place, please avoid it

We came in and tables were still completely full and dirty from the previous people who had been sitting for 20 minutes and no one came after us. And the table was never cleared either. I walked up to an employee and asked if they could help us and clear the table, would that be fine? We waited and they took the order for what we wanted to eat, salmon was gone and the other sandwich we had ordered was also gone. Well, I ordered something else and the food for 1 person arrived within 55 minutes, but still no drinks. Every time something went wrong, very strange. My friend had a sandwich and I didn't have any food yet, so I went to the staff and said what this looked like because I didn't get the soup beforehand and I didn't get a drink until 1 hour later, while my friend had already finished the sandwich. It's scandalous how they interact with people. I said I wanted my money back and I did get it. When we left they brought the food for the other person. Scandalous. This is definitely not recommended. Dirty glasses, dirty plates and cutlery 🫣

Restaurant was cold. Needs a makeover and cleaning it once won't hurt either. Table top was loose. Price/quality below par. Spicy chicken burger sandwich with some fries and something that looked like lettuce with a tomato wedge. You can get better chicken burgers in the supermarket. Really not worth the 18 Euro. Coffee was good.

Friendly staff, not too knowledgeable. Unfortunately, the staffing is really too tight. If you are a party location in combination with lunch & dinner, make sure that the broken glass from the night before is not still on the chairs and floor throughout the tent. Lunch was okay but no more than that. Please indicate that the fryer is not yet on if you order something at 12 o'clock because that will save you some irritation. The location and building are really nice, but it's a pity that there is no door lock and the whole store is nickel and dimed when someone comes in.

We went to eat and it was very cold, really very cold. We actually wanted to walk away, but a sweet intern kindly helped us, the food was also fine, just a pity that it was cold. The music was quite loud at first. The staff already indicated that the heating was broken. They wanted to help, but the owner did not respond. Seriously feel sorry for the staff to have to work in such a cold place! Respect for the staff.

The chicken burger, or rather a mini burger, was very small and the weight of the meat was not specified in the menu. The burger only has some sauce, red onion and carrot salad. Tomato soup has a rather weak tomato flavor. Rather vegetable. Soup served with burgers. The tastiest of the whole order were the fries and that was it. The service wasn't the worst.

Unfortunately, no warm welcome in this restaurant. It was cold inside and a lot of noise, while only a few tables were occupied. It took a long time before we could order a drink. We also wanted to grab a bite to eat but ended up leaving and eating somewhere else.

Delicious food, plenty of it, good price

In één woord? Redemption. Bijna exact een jaar geleden hebben wij hier gegeten. Er zijn weinig pluspunten te benoemen over dat bezoek. Afspraken werden niet opgevolgd (verkeerde soep, gerechten niet samen geleverd, geen borden, geen bestek, etc) wat leidde tot frustatie, daarnaast was de flow van het diner weg. Twee dezelfde cocktails besteld die van kleur en smaak verschilden (één véél te sterk). Het eten was op z'n best middelmatig met als klap op de vuurpijl, rauwe kip... toen we dit hebben aangegeven kregen wij de vraag om met wat compensatie nog terug te komen zodat Grand Café Emmeloord zich met een nieuwe kans konden bewijzen. Vandaag hebben wij hier weer gegeten. De voorgerechten waren zeer smakelijk. De hoofdgerechten waren uitstekend bereid, de steak was perfect gebakken naar vraag. De lavacake zag er qua presentatie slordig uit maar smaakte heerlijk. De gastheer is een representatieve man die ervoor zorgde dat onze avond perfect liep. We zijn ontzettend tevreden met de professionele aanpak van het bedrijf, de klantgerichte oplossing van het vorige bezoek en voornamelijk trots op de groei van het bedrijf. Complimenten aan de chef, de gastheer en de bartender/mixoloog. Tot de volgende keer!

Lekker gegeten bij De Lachende Koe.

Zonde dat zo'n mooi gebouw op top locatie niet goed loopt. Entree onduidelijk, geen kapstok, toiletten boven na steile vieze trap zonder indicatie op de deuren, helft van het pand (lachende koe) continue gesloten, bediening onervaren en langzaam. Eten was wel prima gelukkig.

We waren hier gisterenavond Eten = Erg lekker. Bediening is snel. Misschien omdat het ook niet zo druk was. Sfeer is ronduit slecht. Zeer slechte dj die constant het zelfde deuntje draait, kwaliteit van het geluid is zeer slecht. We zijn uiteindelijk maar ergens anders heen gegaan.

Alles top maar sanitair maar iets netter en schoner.

Wat echt super was om te zitten is nu niet niet meer aantrekkelijk. Terras is vies, je tafel wordt niet leeg gehaald en moet telkens achter je eigen bestelling aan. Bitter garnituur was letterlijk slappe hap. Goeie oude tijd is weg. Heel jammer ! En als je vraagt of je tafel leeg gehaald kan worden lijkt dit teveel gevraagd en de helft blijft staan. Enige pluspunt het broodblankje is nog steeds lekker.

Het eten was prima. De bediening was vriendelijk. Het was er schoon en opgeruimd.

Heerlijk gegeten. Vriendelijke bediening en lekkere cocktails.

Het eten is niets bijzonders, het is er niet schoon. De bediening doet wel zijn best.

Het is hier altijd gezellig en het eten is goed

De ene dag beter dan de andere maar gisteren heerlijk gegeten!

Het was nogal stoffig niet echt schoon.

Leuke gezellige restaurant, vriendelijke service.

Omdat we ons broodje pikante kip niet al te scherp wilde werd hij wat minder scherp gemaakt. Het broodje smaakte fantastisch.

Prima afsluiting na toneel bezoek

Ich bestellte Lachs und es war so lecker, dass es allein für dieses Gericht dieses Café die höchste Bewertung erhalten könnte. Die zweite Bestellung war ein Burger, auch lecker. Ich komme gerne wieder.

Heerlijk eten in een fijne sfeer

Mooie locatie en aankleding. Eten prima. Potentie genoeg. Beetje rommelig als wat drukker is

Leuke zaak. Vriendelijk personeel. Lang gewacht op eten. Niet goedkoop

Essen war gut aber teuer , Service ganz ok auch freundlich. Das Lokal war nicht so sauber. Essensreste auf dem Tischfuß , Tischplatte auch nicht ganz so reinlich.

Lekker eten en keurige bediening.

2 sterren voor de locatie en nieuwe pand. Voor lekker eten en gezellig zitten kun je beter even verder kijken.

Slordige zaak. Vloeren en tafels zijn vies. Het is er koud en het heeft weinig sfeer. Wc’s zijn slordig en het plakt op de vloer. Wc bril zit los en kraan zit los. Geen goede indruk. We zouden er gaan eten, maar het menu is ook niet zo geweldig dus hebben dit maar laten schieten. Over de kwaliteit van het eten kunnen we dus niet oordelen.
