Cozy restaurant, good food, friendly staff. Only very echoing when it's busy.

We had dinner at De Zaak tonight. The service was friendly and we were escorted to our table. The drinks arrived quickly. We ordered tenderloin and salmon fillet. The food was nice and hot. Both the tenderloin and salmon fillet were cooked perfectly. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was great.

It was very busy, but the service was still good. There weren't many seats left, so I sat next to the cutlery.

We had another delicious meal tonight and enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere. The staff were cheerful and friendly.

I'm now a regular at De Zaak. The staff is friendly and the food is simply delicious, and the price-quality ratio is excellent. They're also happy to help if you want something different, like satay sauce on a burger. It's all possible. I love going there; it's a beautiful spot by the water. In the summer, they have a large terrace!

I didn't comment after paying. Just one long brown hair in the satay sauce. Ugh, that could be better.

Today we wanted to have lunch, but it turned out they had a different menu. There wasn't much special on it. That was a shame. We'd been here for lunch and dinner many times in the past, and it was always excellent.

The burgers and steak were good, we enjoyed them. But a big red flag on the hygiene! One of the plates we ordered was shrimp skewers, but it was served with 3 hairs in it. We told the waiter about it, she apologized and replaced the plate. But the second one also came a hair in it (or they did not change the first plate at all)! We told them again about this, but asked them to cancel the shrimp order. They just cancelled it with no other action! We did not like how how they handled the situation, and how the foolded us about the second plate.

Enjoy boat spotting on the terrace. They're located on Rijnplein square in the heart of the city center. The food is delicious, with plenty of choices.

Sit outside on the Rhine and enjoy a cup of coffee/beer while watching the boats pass by. The owners and staff are super friendly. We will definitely come back.

I had a reservation for 4 people. Unfortunately, when we arrived, no one from the staff was interested. I was told to find a table myself. So why do you offer the possibility to make a reservation? I was also told that you can't order food, only drinks, and that it was 2pm. Delicious lunch, thanks for the terrible service... I don't get it. I've been coming to this restaurant for a few years, even the cocktails are completely different. Lots of water/ice, it's clearly a cheap solution 👍🤣

Grandcafé De Zaak is truly an asset to Alphen aan den Rijn! The store is beautifully decorated and centrally located, making it an ideal place to relax while shopping or for a nice lunch date. The enormous terrace is a big plus, especially on sunny days – wonderfully spacious and attractive. The menu is exactly what you expect from a good grand café: tasty sandwiches, sandwiches and other classics that are prepared with care. Everything we ordered was fresh and tasty. What really made the visit complete was the staff. Friendly, attentive and incredibly fast – just the way you like it. In short: highly recommended for those who want to enjoy a nice and relaxing time in the heart of Alphen!

Nice for a lunch. The bread is cut very coarsely. You have to fight with it to get it in.

Very sad how the staff deals with feedback/complaints. If you are not satisfied, you can indicate this. But there was no response at all from the young inexperienced staff! Once and never again!

An afternoon of drinks with friends, always fun and atmospheric. Many types of beers and wine, something for everyone. Ordered some snacks in between and they were of course also excellent. It was another pleasant afternoon in the center.

Cozy tent and there is one in the service who knows how to tackle things, many can take an example from a harder worker Samant 👍👍👍

Tonight we had another delicious meal at De Zaak, our favorite, highly recommended hamburger! And our winner Angela was present again for fun and great service!

Nice place to have a cup of coffee, something to eat or a drink. Within a warm cozy atmosphere. There is only one thing you should not order there and that is a cocktail. They taste watery, contain no liquor at all and are completely tasteless. We found out that they have a cocktail machine and with the push of a button your cocktail is made by the machine. For that €9, I would much rather order a glass of wine twice.

Nice location on the Rhine. We could sit outside by the water. Nice to see the boats sailing by. Enough staff and friendly too.

Had a beer with my fish friend and enjoyed a bitter garnish, it was very tasty, but the bitter garnish took a very long time and I had to go to the toilet for a while, it was very disgusting. Greetings Rob and Emiel

Looked nice inside and the food was what you would expect from a cafe, not top quality, a bit salty, but overall okay. I didn't think the service was bad, but it was messy (wrong sauce, desserts taken to another table, at least five different people at our table). And annoyingly: you have to pay separately for every sauce, including the mayo. Although the prices are on the menu, if you order a daily special and are asked which sauce you want with your food, you assume that it is included. I also find paying seven euros for half a liter of still water (tap water from a carafe 'not allowed by the owner') a bizarre amount of money and also ridiculous in a country with approximately the cleanest drinking water in the world. So we ended up spending a lot more money than we thought was reasonable for a meal of this quality. Too bad, a very nice place in Alphen, but I will never eat here again.

Just sat down for a drink, later also a snack. Because the weather was nice, we were able to sit on the terrace in the sun. The nachos was a large portion. It's a shame that there was only cheese on the top layer, leaving the rest of the chips eating dry.

Food was tasty, service could have been a little more attentive, certainly not unfriendly, but the final coffee was brought but the dinner plates were not taken and that remained until the bill. Too bad it doesn't belong.

Delicious meal, after a problem with the reservation elsewhere, the 4 of us were fortunately able to go to De Zaak. Nice and friendly service, delicious food, the daily menu options were very good for a good price. There were 4 of us, 3x a daily menu and 1x from the menu card, all with a glass of wine and coffee and we spent 152 euros, including tip 160, where can you still eat for 40 euros per person in a nice and cozy way these days? Recommended!

Food was made super quickly and brought to our table, staff was super. I will definitely eat here more often in the future. The area has a beautiful view of the Rhine, if you are on the right side. Another delicious meal!

Delicious food and definitely recommended

This was wonderfully hospitable, wonderfully warm atmosphere, great food, so after 40 years we were eating out for the first time at Christmas 🎅 we really enjoyed it, what can I say? A big compliment to the owner and staff. And we don't have to wait that long anymore to get back there.

On a Tuesday afternoon I decided to check out this place to have some lunch. It was not busy at all, only a couple of customers were there. The interior feels retro and sort of spacious. The personnel was friendly, helpful and proactive. I ordered a sandwich (Italian bread) with steak, stir-fried onion, bean sprouts with oyster sauce. I asked them to remove the mushrooms, which they did! The overall taste was nice, although a bit on the salty side. The orange juice definitely helped to counter the saltiness. Overall I give them 4 out of 5 stars.

Nice well filled sandwich. Only something is missing

Had dinner tonight (11-11) and opted for the 3-course menu. I opted for the steak skewer which was far too black on one side and was too red and tough and also contained a lot of tendons and fat...so not tasty. Dessert took a very long time even though we said we had to leave on time...my friend opted for the mix grill which was also mediocre. All in all, we found it disappointing and not worth repeating.

Actually, I could also give 5 stars for the food, but that would be selling other reviews short. Here you can simply eat a tasty dish of the day for a suitable price. You often get way too much and you also pay (unnecessarily) more. Here you get a good plate of food, with some vegetables. Cauliflower could be a little less raw, but that is personal. By the way, the fries are very tasty here!

Ate the menu of the day, the food was excellent for the price, the soup was delicious. You have to pay for mayo separately: 1 euro for a tablespoon, as does sauce for the meat: 2.50 for a few spoons. It was also very cold there, the door was always open. It wasn't really warm.

Mediocre coffee, also only available from cow's milk. Attentive staff.

My husband and I regularly enjoy a cappuccino with a liqueur on the terrace of De Zaak. Also today, before we were seated, the waitress brought the same recipe. What a service.

I ordered a sandwich and fries, the sandwich was cold and the fries were so gross that it made me feel nauseous and almost threw up. Never again.

I must say, there is still room for improvement here. The dish of the day (mixed grill) contains a piece of pork, a steak (small) and a piece of chicken (with bone). Unfortunately (I complained about this), the piece of steak was fully cooked and therefore tough. I passed this on to the staff and was told that they had already heard this complaint several times. It's a shame that nothing has been or is being done about these complaints. The red wine was the temperature of a cup of lukewarm tea, so I asked for ice cubes, but still... you can certainly expect better at an establishment like this (after all, you are paying a hefty price). Finally, you are only told what the amount you have to pay is, no bill or something like that, but an ATM, which you can hold your card against, sure, I could have asked for it, I will definitely go next time. doing. There were more things that could be improved, but it's always a shame when you expect more and get less

Ordered food order 2 baguettes get 1 tell me something about it 15 later the 2nd baguette with melted sauce will arrive, that's point 1 Then we got the main dish I saw that the ratio between the children's menu and the normal menu is incorrect, so I asked what this is because you pay more for the same thing. Then the owner came over to us shouting and took the child's plate away. And shouting and discussing at the table while you just ask something. If you don't have a good day and your staff is arguing, you don't take this out on your customers. DO NOT COME HERE BAD SERVICE AND NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY!!!!!

Super nice place in Alphen on the water, just a shame that every time we come there we have to ask after 40 minutes if we can have a drink, if we can have the card, etc. etc.

Nice menu For a great price and beautiful view

We arrived here on our way to a pleasant lunch spot on the water. Nice and large terrace on the square with tables on the water. The service was correct and smooth. I chose a warm goat cheese sandwich. Looked very neat, but was not warm and therefore the goat cheese was not really melted. By the way, the goat cheese was not sparingly used, large chunks and lots of it. Sometimes that is nice, but in this case too much, especially because the relationship with the honey was lost. In short, a nice place, but a little more goat cheese for me:-)

Here you can still have a delicious and affordable lunch. For example, the farmer's pan toasties. Generous and well invested. I had the grilled cheese sandwich with smoked salmon and…, (7.50) and a cup of cappucinno. All together 10.50. And fantastic views of the water with the boats at the Centenbrug center. Top!

Good and affordable food. Bit noisy. Staff is very young and inexperienced. Given the beautiful location, it could use an upgrade.

Nice restaurant, nice lunch, friendly staff. We were there for lunch on the first Monday, but from previous experiences I know that the atmosphere is good. The lunch dishes were delicious, White Chiabata with goat cheese and Waldkor bread with Hot chicken. Unfortunately no photos.

Carpaccio sandwich, tasted good, neatly presented, but only 3 pathetic slices of carpaccio on one large Italian bun and that for 10 euros, no, I won't do that again, too bad

Had a nice meal here with a friend. We took the daily menu and she was very satisfied with the schnitzel. Unfortunately my prawn sticks were not what I expected. They were 2 skewers with really mini 'gambas', they were more like small shrimps. The fries were really delicious and so was the mini salad. However, unfortunately the vegetables were very tasteless and for me there were also 2 things that made me sick and the other I unfortunately did not like, but that is of course personal. Unfortunately, the taste really wasn't there. Staff very friendly and fast. Food also came very quickly. Had a nice cocktail too. Prices are very reasonable also for the food.
