Grieks Restaurant Dimitra in Wijk 01 Woerden-Midden

Sunday, January 11, 2026. We had a delicious meal, but unfortunately, like many restaurants, the portions were smaller than before. I had a Samos platter, which wasn't very large. I'm a reasonable eater, and it wasn't quite enough for me. A small portion of fries for two people... I think you'd get the same portion if you were dining alone. The food was good, but in the past, you'd go to a Greek restaurant and barely be able to finish it; those days are sadly over. It was quite busy and quite noisy. Still, the food was delicious!

We've been coming to Dimitra for years, and for good reason. There's a loyal team of staff, and it's always nice to see familiar faces. However, you do get served by several staff members in a single evening because there are no designated zones. Personally, I prefer one dedicated staff member per table, but it wasn't disruptive. The food is what we come for, and as always, it's excellent. The portions are a bit smaller than at many other restaurants, but clearly of higher quality. I consider that a plus: we'd rather truly enjoy good Greek food than eat huge plates that you can't finish and that ultimately lead to waste. Here, it's all about taste and experience. The atmosphere is calm and familiar, but it's been the same for years. What I personally miss is Greek background music. Not loud or intrusive, but soft music that adds a touch of ambiance. At other Greek restaurants, formerly at Athene in The Hague and recently at Athene with my daughter, this adds that extra dimension to the experience. That would make Dimitra even better. Dimitra has been in Woerden since 1993, and that's an impressive track record. While the interior has been updated over the years, the concept has deliberately remained true to itself. They don't need to constantly reinvent themselves, but a small step towards a more atmospheric atmosphere would make it even more complete. All in all, we love coming back: for the quality of the food, the familiar faces, and the consistency Dimitra has demonstrated for decades.

The food was cold and undercooked. Tried again, but never again!!!!!

The keftedes was far too salty. I had to drink water all night. The moussaka was so hot, it kept bubbling. The casserole dish was on my plate, so I had to eat from it. The eggplant appetizer was plain. Just a few grilled slices with a little tzatziki. The mixed grill didn't come with any vegetables either. I didn't order dessert. And there were mice running around. The restaurant responded adequately to this review, which I greatly appreciate. It's not often that reviews are taken seriously.

We've been coming here for years and it's always good: the food is high quality, the atmosphere is friendly, and the service is pleasant. Booking in advance is recommended, as it's often quite busy.

Everything was great, except for the food. The appetizers were excellent! We had tzatziki (with a baked roll) and grilled eggplant. The main course, consisting of gyro, suzuki, and chicken, wasn't so great. The chicken was good, but the rest had a musty aftertaste. The fries were still full of grease and, unfortunately, some were cold and soggy. We're definitely used to different gyros. But if this is the Dutch way, then we don't like it at all.

The food was pricey for what you get, a small plate with 10 fries for 2 people. Mostly a lot of gyros on the plate. The quality itself was good. Dessert was expensive. 10 euros for a small piece of cake. Service was okay; we didn't have to wait very long, but they weren't very friendly or interested either. A quick order or delivery and then we were off again. The same applies to the arrival.

The Google rating is unjustified. There were 8 of us and none of us were satisfied. The wine we ordered arrived only after we ordered it again... A Greek salad we ordered did not arrive at all... It took the waiter a long time, more than 45 minutes, to receive the main courses and most of them arrived quite cold. The meat dishes had no salt at all... In short, unprofessional management and amateur service. Disappointing!

A waste of money. Both of our meals were dry. And if you ask for tomatoes and red onion, you get tomato sauce with chunks of yellow onion mixed in. Pasta sauce, basically. We got a discount, but we're disappointed with our dinner out.

Top experience! We had a wonderful experience at Grieks Restaurant Dimitra. The service was warm, attentive, and very knowledgeable. Fresh bread and chilled water were brought to the table at no extra charge, and all the dishes arrived together — hot, fresh, and full of flavor. Each course was better than the other. The desserts were outstanding as well, a perfect finish to the meal. The atmosphere is very pleasant, making it an excellent choice for a dinner with your partner, family, or a group of friends. True Greek generosity in every sense of the word.

A friendly welcome, a nice menu with enough choice. The kitchen knows how to let you enjoy. Too bad the benches at the tables offer little comfort, but the good food made you forget this for a while.

The two of us were kindly welcomed and served here. The gyros was well seasoned. Although quite pricey, it was worth it.

Het was druk deze zondagavond, heel druk en rumoerig. Toch maar plaatsgenomen en als voorgerecht garnalen en inktvis besteld. Deze werden gereserveerd met tzatziki en afbakbrood. Vervolgens werd ons medegedeeld dat de bestelde gyros op was en of we een andere keuze wilden maken. Na een tijd wachten hebben we zelf de kaart gevraagd om onze nieuwe bestelling door te kunnen geven. Na enige tijd werden er twee borden met een berg vlees neergezet. De gyros bleek toch nog ergens voorradig te zijn geweest. Het precieze ervan werd ons niet verteld omdat de ober er alweer snel vandoor ging. Enfin, maar begonnen aan de berg vlees op ons bord. Er lag geen blaadje sla oid bij, zelfs geen flintertje ui. Wel werd er een klein bakje friet bij geserveerd en alweer tzatziki. We waren snel klaar met het vermalen van het vlees en besloten af te rekenen. Er werd gevraagd of alles naar onze zin was geweest. Nee dus, we zijn beter gewend bij Griekse restaurants, zelfs een doodgewone shoarmazaak doet het beter. De jongedame gaf aan dat voortaan voor sla en ander garnituur betaald moest worden omdat het altijd bleef staan en weggegooid moest worden. Zo werd verspilling tegen gegaan. Misschien beter om de berg vlees voortaan te halveren en er een mooie schotel van te maken.

Good restaurant, last time we had to wait very long for service, dishes are of good quality

Wij hadden gereserveerd op zaterdag 19.30.u. We werden achterin de zaak geplaatst naast een grote tafel waar een voetbalteam zat te eten. We hadden de jas nog aan, zaten nog niet en toen werd ons drankje al opgenomen. Vanaf dat moment ging alles supersnel. Tussen het bestellen van de gerechten en het serveren van het voorgerecht zat 10 minuten en het hoofgerecht kwam er meteen achteraan. Terwijl de zaak volledig vol zat. Aan alles kan je zien dat ze geen tevreden gasten willen, maar omzet omzet omzet. Mixed grill lag op het bord gekwakt zonder garnituur of sla met een heel klein schaaltje tzaziki. Sla moest er apart bijbesteld worden. Dan komt zo'n gerecht al over € 35,- De jeugdige bediening was goed, maar daar is alles mee gezegd. Hier gaan wij niet meer heen.

Excellent Greek restaurant. Good welcome, authentic, hearty cuisine at reasonable prices. Very good service, despite our group of 15 people. Everything quickly went well. I recommend! If we are in Woerden again, we will definitely return. THANKS .

Delicious food, friendly service

Never been. Always went to Elpitha. But they are just as good. Gyros with everything, delicious. Beautiful and cozy place with great staff. I should mention this. Still a small downside. I am slightly heavier than average and could hardly fit between the couch and the table. But they may also have tables with chairs. Definitely come back.

Stuffed chicken breast is very bad, you would think you are getting a piece of chicken breast but you get a hard piece of bacon with bacon bits and you have to look for the chicken so we sent it back because it was inedible. Mousaka is a square box of burnt sadness, in short not that tasty. Hermes was “okay” but that's about it. Service was very friendly, they do immediately offer a free dessert or discount so that's nice. It's just a shame when you ask a question when ordering that they don't come back with an answer but immediately put a plate of food in front of you, if I had known I could have chosen something else. Too bad we made the wrong choice to eat at Dimitra and we won't be back.

Nice food but very busy on weekends

Zolang je maar op de rustige tijden komt is het goed te doen. Zodra het druk is op de vrijdag en zaterdag hebben ze je niet nodig. Mijn persoonlijke advies, bediening is erg arrogant, geen respect voor vaste klanten...kwam er regelmatig......ga er niet eten want het is zeer onvriendelijk tenzij je graag geld brengt. Ohhh jaa, als je vaste klant bent krijg je een hand met een warm welkom, anders niet.....je moet geen onderscheid maken.....nogmaals....eten op eigen risico tenzijn je graag je geld kwijt bent.

For us, Dimitri was exactly what you expect from a Greek restaurant: friendly service, excellent food for a good price. The only thing we found difficult was that we could hardly hear each other, because the people were speaking loudly and the acoustics were not very good (in our experience). But otherwise great, so we'll just come back.

Meat, meat and more meat. If you like vegetables don't bother. You like loads of meat, then this is your place

Delicious food, great service, the waiter walks around the place all the time to see if anyone needs anything. When you enter, you are immediately helped and given a nice glass of Greek drink. Real old-fashioned coziness and cleanliness. Think it's a nice restaurant.

Ben met vriendinnen geweest, niet te eten. Broodjes met daus nog niet op de tafel of ze stonden er al voor de bestelling. Die kwam ook na 5 min, en swarma keihard en kipfilet droog . Verder nix erbij . Gestressd eten, waarschijnlijk omdat jet druk was. Volgende keer ergens anders.

Normally Greek food is very tasty, but this experience was very monotonous. In terms of color, everything looked the same in large half-cooked pieces. Staff were very pleasant and there was a nice atmosphere

Nice restaurant, tasty food, friendly staff. You can't sit outside (that wouldn't be a very pleasant place), but they have managed to make it a very pleasant place inside. Definitely recommended!

It has been a regular place for the family for years, but now it was disappointing. Chicken Rhodes looked like the sole of a shoe and the tenderloin could have been cooked before it had been briefly on the grill. The amount of Greek sauces used to be more extensive. The restaurant was quite full, in fact so busy and noisy that a conversation at your own table was not possible.

Good Greek, beautiful meat and prepared with care. Fine in terms of restaurant, but... Eight euros per hour parking costs are ridiculous. For me this is a reason not to go to Woerden anymore.

Gyros, a lot of chamois in and in the corner under speakers, you can't hear each other. If you tell the person who is cleaning up your complaint, no response, you say it again and the other waiter says you should just tell them not to do anything about it now.

What bad gyros. Not cooked long enough, many pink spots and too soft. Not tender but soft as if it wasn't cooked enough. While the Suzukis were burned. We had taken away so only discovered this at home. I ate some of it but wouldn't repeat it. Even the kids have left the gyros even though they love gyros.

Had to wait a while for a table as restaurant was busy but it was a Saturday night and we hadn’t booked. Soon sorted and given a free shot of Ouzo Excellent authentic Greek food all very tasty and well presented Would definitely recommend if you are in the area and like Greek food

It was okay overall. Some of the meat was quite good, some was quite tame or burnt. Salad doesn't come with the main dish, unfortunately. The total waiting time was more than one hour eventually. The venue itself is quite nice, though.

Spontaneously ate here tonight due to train cancellations. The food was really delicious, gyros were super good and even the mixed grill (which normally dries quickly) was very good. It took a while for the food to arrive and it was quite noisy, but pleasant.

Vanaf het begin ging het al mis. Bediening liep onze richting uit en keek, maar deed niks. Daardoor wel 15 minuten moeten wachten voordat we uberhaupt wat te drinken konden bestellen. Kaart krijgen duurde daarna nog 5 minuten. Voorgerechten waren veel te groot, leken wel hoofdmaaltijden. Ik had een 2e voorgerecht als hoofdgerecht gekozen die ik eigenlijk al niet meer hoefde omdat ik vol zat. Hoofdgerechten kwamen ook meteen na het voorgerecht, wat dus niet kon zakken. Eten was heel erg zout dus niet lekker. Na het eten kregen we de dessertkaart. We hadden wat gekozen, oudere mandie bediende, liep 2 maal naar de tafel naast ons, terwijl daar al een kelner stond en zag ons niet staan. Dit gebeurde toen nog 1 maal en dat was voor ons de limiet en zijn we gaan afrekenen. Zelden zo een slechte bediening en ongeinteresseerde man gezien. Nooit meer hier naartoe. Geen aanrader maar een gigantische afknapper!

Food was good, but what a mess and a lot of noise this is! ... Everything is going at a fast pace, the starter has only just finished and the main course is already on the table! No personal contact with the service. I also saw that other guests received a welcome drink upon arrival and we did not, so you wonder why that is.

Very tasty (and a lot) of one of the mixed grill dishes. If there is anything left over, you will automatically be asked if you want to take it home. An aperitif from the house when it is busy and you might have to wait a little longer. Despite that, we were helped quite quickly and friendly. We also enjoyed the Metaxa after dinner. A great place to eat if you're really hungry!

Had dinner tonight, food came together quickly (King's Day) and was not really warm. Not used to it, so we don't go on "holidays" anymore.

After 10 years, I wanted to try Greek again, upon arrival I had a nice drink, a nice starter, a delicious portion of fetta with olives, delicious, then the main course, a lot of meat, especially a lot of giros, which in my opinion was not cooked properly, it was red and pink, that is I don't think it was good otherwise it was good, I thought the service was a little less. First round, after half a glass, they asked if you would like something to drink, okay, that was well in time, but after that they didn't come again and they were hanging at the bar, which I personally don't think is very nice, so I skipped dessert. maybe we went on the wrong night but will try again in a few months

Once again a super tasty meal. We mainly had some olives, tzatziki and bread with herb butter to share. As a main course we had 2 plates (Poseidon and Delphi), which were combined on 1 plate. We were really full and everything was equally tasty. Super friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Highly recommended!

A nice dinner with your family has been a household name in Woerden for years

Lees hieronder toch bepaalde zaken die ik niet herken. Afgelopen zondag wezen eten bij Dimitra in Woerden en zoals alle eerdere keren gewoon een geslaagde avond. Direct voorzien van een lekker ijskoude ouzo. Hadden een schaal voor 2 personen, maar daar ging een deel mee naar huis, omdat het voorgerecht gewoon erg veel is (Keftedes/gehaktballetjes in tomatensaus). En daarbij nog minibroodjes van de super (waarom nou geen zelfgemaakte pita, of desnoods Turks brood (pide of francali)? Met betrekking tot het tempo tussen de gange, deze was ruim, niet zoals men eerder schreef dat je amper je voorgerecht op hebt en dan het hoofdgerecht al hebt staan. Misschien een miscommunicatie of was het te druk in het restaurant? Verder blijft de eigenaar een échte Griek, oogt nors maar is wel vriendelijk maar gepast en beleefd. Maar zou wat losser mogen zijn. Afruimen gaat ook vaak té snel waardoor het een en ander nog wel eens van het bord kan glijden. Verder altijd een fijne beleving. Wel een dingetje als je de rekening vraagt (dat was in alle keren het geval), je écht om de rekening moet vragen. Deze geven ze dan (helaas geen ouzo-snoepjes of pepermuntje) maar vervolgens duurt het erg lang voordat er iemand komt om af te rekenen. Beter om de rekening te vragen aan de bar en dan daar direct af te rekenen bespaar je wel wat tijd mee als je snel weg wilt.

Spent the evening here on a Friday evening, arrived late but that was no problem. Very friendly and attentive staff, delicious Ouzo beforehand (as it should be). Fairly standard menu, it's a shame they don't offer a dish(s) with a piece of moussaka). You get a reasonable portion, but for the meat lover actually just too little (gyros). Not particularly spicy, but very tasty. But then you order a baked potato with tzatziki or rice, or gigantes (which are very tasty here). See you soon - update - April 2024 Read below some things that I do not recognize. Last Sunday we had dinner at Dimitra in Woerden and, like all previous times, it was just a successful evening. Immediately provided with a nice ice-cold ouzo. We had a bowl for 2 people, but part of it was taken home because the starter was just too much (Keftedes/meatballs in tomato sauce). And also mini sandwiches from the supermarket (why not homemade pita, or perhaps Turkish bread (pide or francali)? And no coleslaw? To prevent waste, you must ask for this (it is stated on the menu). Most people I know are given salad or vegetables and don't eat them. So I can understand this point of view. With regard to the pace between courses, it was ample, not as people previously wrote that you have barely finished your starter and then already have the main course. Maybe a miscommunication or was it too busy in the restaurant? Furthermore, the owner remains a real Greek, looks gruff but is friendly but appropriate and polite. But could be a bit looser. And small talk, they are too busy for that. Clearing is also often done too quickly, which can cause things to slip off the plate. Always a pleasant experience. One thing is that if you ask for the bill (which was the case every time), you really have to ask for the bill. They then give these (unfortunately no ouzo sweets or peppermints) but then it takes a very long time before someone comes to pay. It is better to ask for the bill at the bar and then pay immediately, which will save you some time if you want to leave quickly.

Very tasty food, due to the size of the restaurant the volume was logically a little higher, but still within limits.

Had to wait a long time for the food which came after 50 minutes and was not tasty. Quite a shame.

Food was good, but not special. Not as refined as it used to be. Atmosphere and service were fine.

We come here often, but now it was very noisy, and we also didn't like the table where we sat because the place was very cramped. No idea why things didn't go as normal...no ouzo upon arrival, it took quite a while before the food arrived, the drinks didn't come out very well either, the table was quite full of empty bottles or plates, as you would think when someone walked past. that they take something with them. There were a few other things, but I don't want to be a whiner, as I said, normally it goes very well and the food is very tasty. Hopefully for better next time.

Cozy restaurant with very good food

The best food I’ve had in a long time… The bread, my starter and my main were all perfect. I tipped 20% but felt like that wasn’t even enough.

Het eten is lekker, daarvoor zou ik graag terug komen. Toch zal ik hier niet nog eens heen gaan. Ons voorgerecht werd 5 minuten na het plaatsen van de bestelling al op tafel gezet. Toen we nog met het voorgerecht bezig waren kwam het hoofdgerecht al. Dat zag de ober, dus nam het eten weer terug. Echter, nadat het voorgerecht werd afgeruimd kwam gelijk het hoofdgerecht. Binnen een uur word je 'weggeserveerd'. Erg jammer. Hierdoor amper voorgerecht kunnen laten zakken waardoor we het hoofdgerecht niet opkregen. Hierdoor ook geen nagerecht besteld.

Ended up here because another restaurant could not fulfill the reservation. Friendly welcome and very tasty food! The entire restaurant was full, so a few small things went wrong, but I didn't think that was a problem.
