You wouldn't believe it, but we're eating at a gas station :-). But we just wanted something simple to eat on the way home. It was great; everything looked appealing and tasted really good. All the plates that came out were beautifully decorated. We'll definitely go back here. Thanks for the friendly service.

What a great place, food super fast and good. I even picked up a couple of beers for the truck, they even got extra cold ones for me. Great!

Sometimes it's the small, inconspicuous places that leave a lasting impression – like the Hamelandroute Snackbar in Aalten, just across the border from Hemden. Those who stop by here are not only served typical Dutch snacks, but also a taste of genuine warmth and joie de vivre. As soon as you arrive, you can sense that hospitality is a top priority here. The employee greeted us with a radiant smile and a warmth rarely found these days. We immediately felt welcome and in good hands. Ordering was straightforward and was taken with a matter-of-factness that shows that these are professionals at work – and with real passion. The food? A poem! The Oorlog fries – golden yellow, crispy on the outside, wonderfully soft on the inside – came with a generous portion of spicy peanut sauce, creamy mayonnaise, and finely chopped onions. Every bite was an explosion of flavor and made our mouths water. The Bamischijf, wonderfully crispy on the outside and full of spicy bami noodles on the inside, was just as delicious as the frikandel, a must-have on any Dutch snack menu. A particularly nice touch: When the weather is good, you can sit outside at the charming, rustic wooden tables and benches, which give you the feeling of dining in the middle of a small Dutch village. The sun on your face, the laughter of other guests in your ears, and the scent of freshly fried treats in the air – that's pure joie de vivre! After the meal, there was a real highlight: Softijs in a square beker – creamy, melt-in-the-mouth, and simply irresistible. For just €2.25, you not only get a sweet refreshment, but also a piece of childhood memory. And anyone who says ice cream isn't healthy hasn't tried this Softijs – it definitely makes you happy! Conclusion: The Hamelandroute Snackbar is much more than just a snack bar. It's a place where you feel welcome, where the food is prepared with love, and where you can momentarily forget about everyday life. For us, it was a culinary delight, and the ambiance is simply unbeatable. If you're in the area, you should definitely treat yourself to this little treat—it's worth it in every way!

Because of the good reviews, I took advantage of my fuel break to grab a bite to eat. The service was super friendly and the prices were really good, but unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to my expectations. Instead of the famous thick Dutch fries, I got run-of-the-mill 7mm fries, the same fries you'd get at the chain with the big yellow M! They weren't salted, or if they were, it was very lightly salted. On top of that, the curry ketchup was downright sickeningly sweet, as if it had been laced with sugar syrup. As for the ambiance... Well, it's a chip shop with outdoor tables on a country road. 🤷‍♂️ When I was there, it was pretty quiet, so there wasn't much traffic. I can't say what it's like at other times of day. Conclusion: Nice service, reasonable prices, mediocre fries (special), and a rest stop atmosphere. If you're just filling up, it's fine.

Small but nice......super nice staff and delicious, typically Dutch food. For me the soft ice cream was an absolute must hhmmmm delicious and huge portion.

Were nearby yesterday and spontaneously stopped by and were absolutely thrilled. Super tasty fries special and Frikandel and the Bami were also super good. The staff was also very nice. We'd love to come back when we're nearby.

Excellent trucker café/snack bar just before the border near Aalten. I came here by chance because I needed to charge my car (E-Flux fast charger across the road). The restaurant is located at a gas station. The dishes on the menu are good, but simple. I had lunch and a sandwich here.

Super tasty fries and a chopped ball roll special. Very friendly staff Great taste and filling. The ladies at the gas station were just as friendly. It's a shame that you don't come through here more often. Would come here again at any time.

The fries were not cooked, they were not left in the fryer long enough, the staff could not catch up, it is a pity when there is so much to do, there must be staff who can arrange it better, no children behind the counter and in the kitchen!!!

Due to adjustments/conversions to my car, I ended up at Roy's place from The Hague to Aalten. During lunch we were more than pleasantly surprised by gastronomic wonders from the kitchen of this top tent. Ordered and delivered on time, wonderfully warm and of top quality. You won't get sandwiches like this in taste and size for that kind of money
