Enjoyed every bit of it! First good Indian food ever tasted in Europe!

It’s a small and quiet place, very cozy and charming. The staff is kind and friendly, and the food is really, really good.

I was wandering around looking for a place that might appeal to me at that time and walked in to Hanji. I was a little apprehensive at first and then I heard paath being played in the background. (Sikh prayers, although I am not a Sikh, I can recognise the prayers and ….prayers are prayers). Felt like a divine message, so I sat down. Met the delightful Sardarji who I was watching interact with every other customer as if he was interacting with his guests at his house! That kind of filled my chest up with satisfaction and said to myself, whatever the taste I am going to eat here! And then came my turn to order. I was actually struggling to choose from the menu because they all looked like a condensed version of a standard curry house. Besides the selection of food in the display counter was not appealing either. So, I asked for suggestion and I was offered chicken curry with parantha…. Even though the curry was scooped out of one of the trays in the display counter, what came out on my plate was simply fantastic! Who was converting? Mrs Sardarji in the kitchen - that was not just a cook or chef preparing - it was your Punjabi sister or mum preparing your food. Seriously, I cleaned up the plate off the chicken dish, paranthas, a small bowl of rice and yoghurt! I was offered chai, which I’m sure would have been equally unforgettable but I already had such a good taste in my mouth …I turned down the chai! My two suggestions would be: - why badge it Surinamese? If there are constraints to do so then let it be a ‘sub-text’ - is that display counter necessary ? It wasn’t inviting! All said and done I felt I was with hosts rather than in an eat out! Will definitely go back again and recommend!

We just had lunch at this informal, family-run restaurant, where we ate simple, authentic dishes. At the suggestion of the friendly owner, we tried their mango lassi (a delicious and refreshing milkshake) and their samosas (excellent!). The rest of the dishes were also very good, and we paired them with various types of bread, all excellent.

The food was delicious, but the best part was the way he treated his customers. He was a very polite and friendly gentleman. We were very satisfied, and we will definitely be back!

A bit unassuming from the outside, this is a highly recommended restaurant. The food is delicious. We had chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, paprika paneer, and delicious samosas for starters. The prices are also very fair. And the restrooms are very hygienic. Definitely recommend it 👍🏼

We were truly impressed with our visit! It was our first time at this restaurant, and from the moment we walked in, we felt instantly welcome – the owner was incredibly friendly, smiling, and truly made us feel at home. We ordered butter chicken with rice and chicken biryani – both dishes were delicious, full of flavor, and perfectly prepared. As a pleasant surprise, my wife also received freshly baked naan, even though you normally have to choose between rice and bread. A small gesture that made a big difference! The atmosphere is warm and cozy, the service excellent, and the food a true culinary delight. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended!

I ordered samaosa very crisp from outside and flavourfull potato filling inside. Then butter chicken which has very rich and tasty gravy with so much tender chicken . Garlic naan was so fresh . Highly recommend for food , ambience and and warmthness of owners to attend

Whether you're looking for a quick snack or a full dinner, I cannot recommend this place enough. For dinner, the food was solid, a lot better than one would expect for the rather low price. The staff was great. Even if the place wasn't the cosiest, they made us feel right at home, and you could sense they were proud of their work, and rightfully so!

Excellent fresh and tasty curry. More of a takeaway with tables it sold a reasonable choice of curry's, service was friendly, the place was basic but spotless and the meal cost around half the price of lunchtime (around 35E for 2). Great little spot for curry lovers, for anyone wanting a cheaper meal. There is a clean loo available for diners (in case you were wondering). Well recommended.

Friendly team and good food. I come here often. I call in advance and then I pick up the food. Saag Paneer, Biryani and Roti Rol are my fav. And Raita of course.

They are nice, but I really thought the falafel sandwich was awful, a few pieces of falafel with cucumber and tomato. €5.95 is currently quite a lot for a big disappointment so I am very disappointed. It is a bit too expensive anyway. Locals will not come back here.

One of the best recommendations we had from a local!! This place has such a fresh, delicious and full of flavors food!! We loved it so much he had it like 3 or 4 times in our week and a half there back in December 24’ The pakoras, the samosas, the curries, the rice, the naan, the tikka masala, simply everything we tried was always soo good!! And the best thing, the family behind this restaurant the most kind and warm people, always with the best energy, warm welcomed and a kind smile! Will definitely come back here when in Amsterdam

The food is beautiful and well priced, when my girlfriend was initially taken aback by the spice of her meal, the owner immediately checken in and offered yoghurt to help her enjoy the meal. It was a lovely touch! Thanks 🙏

Came in for lunch in a group of 5.we were the only people here. While asking questions about the menu, it was explained that we could order a dish, and get some rice and vegetables. We could also get naan. We each ordered what we thought was one entree with rice and veggies and naan. We also got 3 samosas. The food service was very slow, but did taste good. Our ending bill ended up being 30€ per person, which was much more expensive that what we were expecting based off the menu prices.

Everything here is fresh, down to the paneer in the delicious paneer masala and naan! You can immediately taste that this is mega authentic. Incredibly tasty dishes with good prices and portions. Friendly staff and the food is ready quickly. I will definitely come back :)

Sloppy food. The rice was overcooked, the garlic naan small and greasy with cheese, and the saag paneer greasy and salty. I will never go here again.

Fantastic food! Was really delicious (we had the Surinamese Bara and Indian curry), fresh and prepared with care. You can eat it there if you have little time for an extensive dinner, for example because you are going to the movies (we did) but of course you can also take it away. Really totally recommended!

I walked past it so often and I thought let me finally eat the bara chicken. Unfortunately not tasty chicken was dry bara was too wet ... and I missed the chutney question .. it took too long before it was ready. If you want to get it quickly during lunch take your time. I still want to try the bitter chicken hence 2 stars.

Incredible food, sweetest servers. Not a romantic setting but comfortable and it doesn’t matter when the food tastes so good. Affordable prices with curry +rice/naan costing around 13€ Allowed our dog to come sit inside with us too.

Very sweet, polite Indian people who embraced Surinamese cuisine in their menu. Had a nice talk with them about their lives. The food was served with care, and there was nice atmospheric music playing on the background. Apparently, their roti is made from whole grain flour, which is a much healthier option than the Surinamese white flour option. I took an extra 2 plain rotis. The heating system was on, and a window was opened for fresh air. 🌟

Got two meals. A chicken that was still warm from preparation and a lamb. The food was extremely tasty. The meals were generous in portion while the price was very affordable. The food is fresh. The taste is incredibly good. I also received freshly prepared bread. Definitely an asset to the city and a recommendation for anyone who enjoys good food.
