I have eaten here twice now, the first time a Hawaiian ribeye and the second time a Hawaiian chicken. I found both very tasty, especially the chicken. The eggplant is also delicious as a side dish, plus good hibiscus iced tea. Nice people and they play great music.

Firstly to the owner Adam, thank you very much for the lovely food. The cheesesteak was very lovely with love and attention put into it, the toppings were amazing and it was a generously large portion. The chips were hand cut and fried and seasoned on the spot making them as fresh and tasty as possible. You will not leave hungry and for a good price too. The salads were freshly made and very tasty pairing well with the food. The kerkadeh was also very amazing in this heat. I cant speak to the hawawshi but the rest was so good I must come back to try it. The owner himself is also a very friendly and warm Egyptian man who happily makes the food with love and makes friendly conversation. I look forward to seeing you again Adam

I don’t understand how this place has only 4.1 stars. That’s ridiculous. The food is really tasty and suitable for everyone. I highly recommend trying Adam’s Double Cheesesteak. The quality of the meat feels high, and the taste is balanced and enjoyable for all kinds of guests. Highly recommended!

Passed by hawawshi and was intrigued by the food and crowd so we decided to try Egyptian food out. We got the chicken hawawshi and vegan hawawshi. Its like a thin crispy pita with moist salty filling that is served piping hot with a refreshing side salad which goes perfectly with the hawawshi. Would highly recommend anyone nearby for a warm and filling meal. Would've loved to try the other items but we were full.

First time to try Egyptian street food and am so satisfied. I had the rib eye hawawshi and I was very full. Combined with the salad of the day, it was a solid meal. Looking forward to come back again.

Unbelievable. I ate there once too. I stayed in the toilet all day. It was so bad, it was unbelievable.

Much much much too expensive for the amount of food. I expected a “double” portion of meat or cheese or something since “double” is in the name but it was double the bread. There were NO caramelized onion on it. Very very very disappointed for the cost versus the quantity. Indoors is very hot and humid.

The service was very disappointing. We arrived about 25 minutes before closing time to order takeaway sandwiches, but were refused entry in a cold and unprofessional manner. I could understand if the kitchen had already closed, but the ingredients were still ready at the counter and the oven was still running to serve customers who were still there. A little more courtesy and customer service would have been appreciated.

As an Egyptian, I can confidently say it’s not easy to find truly authentic Egyptian food abroad… but this place absolutely nailed it! 🇪🇬🔥 The food was incredibly authentic, and the hospitality was beyond imagination. Adam, the owner, is such a warm and welcoming guy — he made the whole experience even better. The restaurant offers three main options: Hawawshi, Fatta served with Molokhia and meat tajine, plus an amazing steak sandwich. The meat is unbelievably tender, slow-cooked for over 15 hours, and you can honestly taste the love in every bite. I would genuinely come back to Amsterdam just to eat here again. 100% a must-try!

I was on a trip to Amsterdam, came across this restaurant. The rib eye hawawshi was one of the tastiest things I’ve had in a while ! The hot dough and tender meat were so comforting. The service was amazing too the owner is so friendly ! Thank you for the amazing food :)

I was a bit off-key for a moment: Hawawshi rib-eye. In my mind, it was a sandwich filled with rib-eye, but it was finely sliced ​​rib-eye; finely minced meat. It was deliciously seasoned in a crispy, not burnt bun. I had the spicy tomato salad on the side, asking for it to be a bit spicy. A bit spicy is actually still quite spicy, but alongside the red tomato there were green ones too, which gave it a lovely bite. The salad was delicious. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the table was clean. The decor is simply cozy. The Egyptian mint tea was served in an oriental teapot with a small tea glass. No tea bags, but made from tea leaves. Great taste. Highly recommended for a simple evening meal.

Yesterday me and friend dropped by we started with the Hawawshi meal was good but the rocket was the new Adam steak sandwich was amazing a lot of testy meat in the sandwich and grilled onions with special sauce on the onions was gunnies flavour The service was great we were late at night they were very friendly we even stayed after their closing time and they allowed us to finish our meal with a big nice smiles Was a great experience with the authentic Egyptians food and music

One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. The hawawshi didn’t taste authentic at all..it was basically just fat. The cleanliness level was very poor; I even found a hair in the food. When I reported it, their response was basically “it’s just hair, don’t make a big deal out of it.” 😅 In the end, they refunded the hawawshi, but overall it was a really bad experience. ❌This is an edited response to the restaurant’s comment: Making accusations like this is completely unacceptable. Do you seriously expect that someone would travel all the way to Amsterdam just to put a hair in their own food? That is absolutely ridiculous. If you’re saying my man said his food was fine, then why did he leave half of his meal? Or did your cameras somehow miss that part too? Also, offering to replace the order doesn’t change the fact that there was a hair in the food in the first place. And your staff’s reaction basically telling me “it’s just a hair, don’t make a big deal out of it”!!! was not professional at all. Honestly, I don’t need to say more. The hygiene issues and similar complaints in other reviews speak for themselves and your 4-star rating already reflects that.

Finally, a restaurant that sells delicious Egyptian food. Despite the bad reviews, I had a wonderful meal with my parents. We received good service; the friendly and cheerful man unfortunately didn't speak Dutch, but we managed to communicate. I had a ribeye hawawshi that tasted great. The salad was delicious, even though I'm not really a salad person. The homemade sauce with the hawawshi tasted so smooth and tasty; it really completed the meal. The sweet potato fries weren't what I expected (I thought they would be deep-fried), but they were exactly like the ones I ate in Egypt—delicious! My father almost didn't want to share with us... On the other hand, my mother didn't want to share the Om Ali with me; she had never eaten such a delicious dessert before. If I'm in the area again, I will definitely come back!

I’m sorry. I really wanted this place to be good, but it wasn’t. The staff are kind, and keen to explain the main dishes, but the food is not up to par. The sweet potato “fries” are just massive chunks of sweet potato that have been put in the oven. The main dish was cooked from frozen, and for this reason the bread was soggy in the middle and dry on the edges. The filling had a strange flavour, and wasn’t really pleasant to eat. I saw some fresh looking rice and some meat that looked appetising, but this wasn’t reflected in the food I had. Quite disappointing

My first time here today, the place is very lovely, I love the interior it is like being transported into egypt, the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. I passed by to drink a coffee and I was served by sahar and saad, they were better hosts than one can reasonably ask for. friendly, welcoming and very helpful. I didn't eat anything but the food smells lovely and I would definitely come again and even recommend it to friends and family. I felt like I was treated as family and welcomed into their house. given what I asked for and more. may allah reward and bless them and this place, and may it stay for 10 more years. 10/10

This is truly scandalous! A burnt bun with 15 grams of chicken that certainly doesn't come close to the real Egyptian hawawshi. It would at least be nice to have a €10.50 bun a bit more generously filled.

I wanted to give it 5 stars, but unfortunately, the food was far below my expectations. After a long journey, I arrived in Amsterdam, and the first thing I thought of was trying the hawawshi. I arrived at the shop, and the Ramadan atmosphere was lovely. The cashier was a cheerful and polite man, so I ordered hawawshi. It said "rib eye," and I thought, "Wow, we'll have something to remind us of Egypt!" Anyway, the hawawshi arrived after about fifteen minutes because it was frozen and had to be baked in the oven. When I tasted it, I couldn't tell there was any meat; it tasted more like soy with a lot of onions, unfortunately. I didn't try anything else, but maybe there are better options.

Unfortunately we had a very unpleasant experience here. We ordered the Egyptian rib eye hawawshi, but first of all, it was definitely not rib eye. The quality of the meat did not match what was advertised.The pita bread was burned, making it extremely hard to chew — I actually hurt my gum while eating it. The minced meat filling was also very disappointing. Instead of being flavorful in a balanced way, it was overwhelmed with very strong herbs and spices, making it quite unpleasant. Also there were no proper side dishes served with the hawawshi, except for what seemed like an unfresh, not-daily salad. For that price, at least a small portion of fries would have been reasonable. The baba ganoush was also far from authentic and tasted nothing like traditional Egyptian baba ganoush. The hygiene of the place was another major issue. The tables were sticky to the touch and felt dirty. The overall atmosphere did not feel clean or well maintained, which made the dining experience uncomfortable and frankly disgusting. To make matters worse, the restaurant was filled with heavy smoke and a very strong smell. There seemed to be no proper ventilation. Even after leaving, our clothes smelled terrible from the smoke. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. I would not recommend this restaurant based on the quality of food, hygiene, and overall environment.

Okay, let's start with the concept, the music was great and authentic. The food was really not good. The hawawshi was too greasy, the bun was burnt, the bottom was super wet with grease, the meat wasn't cooked through and was still rare, or raw. The meat tasted like nothing. It said it had 16 spices, but I only tasted salt and pepper, nothing more. It was absolutely inedible. The salad, well, you don't call it a salad, just spicy spices, no sauce, and the iceberg lettuce, which wasn't cut, was tasteless and so spicy that you simply didn't taste anything afterward. All in all, there's just a lot of room for improvement. I personally wouldn't recommend it, but hey, that's what people like. I won't even mention the toilet; it's just not good.

I ordered the Hawaiian ribeye today. It turned out to be absolutely not ribeye, but ground beef. The meat also had a sour taste. As a side dish, I received an uncut piece of lettuce ("lettuce butt"), which seemed very unprofessional. I hadn't eaten this badly in a long time, and I even ended up with a stomach ache. Very disappointing. The nasty sour aftertaste lingered for hours.

Yesterday we ordered food from Hawawsi Amsterdam for the first time. The service was incredibly friendly and the location is beautiful. My Egyptian partner felt completely at home. The food was delicious. We had Hawawsi and Egyptian fattah. The lamb was delicious and fell off the bone, and the rice with sauce and bread was excellent. The Hawawsi is beautifully seasoned. We will definitely be back.

It’s always a great experience to enjoy hawawshi’s soul food. Everything is made with love and the service is top tier! I personally recommend the baba ghannoush and the chicken pita (hawawshi). Flavourish, warm, comforting, simply delicious. They also serve Egyptian coffee and desserts. Big big recommendation! And they’re open until midnight which is a biiiig plus.

The place isn't far from the city center, the food is amazing, the chef is excellent, and the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. Umm Kulthum plays most of the time. Truly an excellent experience.
