I don’t usually review but this warrants a review because it was such a positive positive experience. First and foremost the service. This one man show runs the entire restaurant by himself it seems and he still takes the time to welcome his guests with a smile, make suggestions and overall make everyone feel welcome. The food portions are huge and at good price. And overall they taste delicious. No one was dining in as most of these orders are take away but this made it even better because we had the big boys table all for ourselves. I recommend the dine in experience even more than take away. Check it out!!!

Today was my first time visiting this restaurant, and honestly, I was blown away! 🤩 It was my first time having authentic Egyptian food outside Egypt, and the taste was truly amazing. It honestly made me feel like I was eating my mom’s homemade food back in Egypt. ❤️🇪🇬 The place itself is beautiful, the style and atmosphere are so lovely, and the owner was incredibly kind and attentive. You can really tell that he cares about every little detail and wants his guests to have the best experience. Honestly, you have to visit this place! You’re going to absolutely love it! 😍❤️

We had dinner at Hawawshi and the quality was perfect, we had Adams steak, the meat was juicy with onions it was my favourite one. The staff were so nice and friendly. We enjoyed the night with Egyptian vibes. Definitely recommend and come back later once we visit Amsterdam again.

With an abundance of nice, tasty, and authentic eateries in Amsterdam, a restaurant has to be very good to keep coming back. Hawawshi is exactly such a place. The food is delicious. Flavorful, rich, fresh, and prepared with love (and the vegan option is really just as tasty as the meat!). The space and music (though sometimes a bit loud) create a cozy atmosphere. For Amsterdam, the price is appropriate. But what absolutely must be mentioned is the owner, Adam. From the moment you walk in, you can feel how much he cares about his restaurant. He enthusiastically explained every item on the menu to us: its origins, his favorites. All evening he runs from one place to another: prepping in the kitchen, handling orders in a friendly manner, and preparing flavorful and aesthetically pleasing dishes in no time. And that is not to mention everything that has to happen behind the scenes. This man works seriously hard. It is nice to be able to feel in someone's work and story that they have turned their passion into their profession. From the outside, Hawawshi is a restaurant that feeds hungry mouths. But on the inside, it is a cozy living room where Adam shares a piece of his identity, his story, with us. That, with an eye for detail and a friendly smile? That is a restaurant to visit again and again.

Extremely disappointing experience — burnt food and terrible customer service I ordered hawashi from this restaurant, but what I received looked completely different from the advertised picture. The bread was badly burned, and it tasted burned as well, making the food inedible. I could not even eat it and had to waste my money. To make matters worse, we waited approximately 40 minutes for the order. When I complained about the burnt food, the owner showed no concern and did not apologise, offer a replacement, or provide a refund. His attitude made the experience even more disappointing — it felt as though he simply did not care about the quality of the food or the customer’s complaint. The food quality, waiting time, and customer service were all unacceptable. I would not recommend this place and will not be returning.

First time trying Egyptian food and it was a great experience. The Hawawshi was very tasty and the side dish was fresh and flavorful. The owner is very friendly and overall the place feels very authentic. The music was a bit loud inside to talk while eating but when you pass by the restaurant you are definitely intrigued by the atmosphere. Will be back!

Honestly, just amazing! 🤩 Our first time here and we were seriously impressed. The cheese steak sandwich was incredible: perfectly cooked and so delicious, we had to order another one! 😍 The ribeye hawashi was also absolutely crazy! 🔥 And don’t miss the hibiscus juice, of course! 😋 Such a friendly chef, amazing presentation, great atmosphere, and an overall fantastic experience. The decorations, the music, the hospitality and the friendly welcome we received from the owner make us feel home. I did not have high expectations but I was proved wrong! Tastes exactly like home. Crispy outside, packed with juicy, well-seasoned meat inside no shortcuts, just proper Egyptian street food done right. Generous portions for a fair price, which is rare to find abroad. If you grew up eating this back home, it'll take you right back. My new go-to in Amsterdam whenever I'm craving a taste of home.

Really feels like a small piece of Egypt in Amsterdam. From the food, to the restaurant, to the owner everything was great! The food is really fresh, tasty and you can taste the attention and passion the owner puts in making it. Also the decor and music in the restaurant really gives a great touch. Very disappointing experience Unfortunately, our experience at Hawawshi Restaurant was very disappointing. The food was really not tasty; the hawawshi, in particular, was a huge letdown. The taste and quality were absolutely not what you expect for this price. We paid a whopping €90 for 2 pieces of hawawshi, فتة لحمة (a small portion), a small bowl of مولخية, a small salad, homemade chips that were served separately later and were very greasy, and 2 drinks (كركديه). For this amount, you expect good quality, tasty food, and normal portions. Unfortunately, we felt the food was absolutely not worth the money. We find €90 for what we got truly outrageous. Very disappointing and definitely not recommended for us.👎👎👎👎👎

The best Egyptian street food after Cairo. Lovely place and amazing food. You need to try the Hawawshi it's a delicious sandwich and the meat taste so nice. I really recommend the place and specifically the owner is a great guy and very warm as all Egyptian people. If you are in Amsterdam you need to stop by.

Do Yourself a favor and try Hawawshi you will find extremely friendly service, a bright colorful atmosphere, and the best food! The Hawawshi’s are delicious, the Adam’s cheesesteaks are INCREDIBLE, and their salads are exciting and refreshing. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

On a hot Thu evening walked passed by on an earlier recommendation. Tried Adam's Steak & Rib eye Hawawshi which were on the big billboard just outside the shop. And had Egyptian black tea. Adam's steak was very nice. Hand-cut potatoes is hand-cut chips. They were very nice.

I have eaten here twice now, the first time a Hawaiian ribeye and the second time a Hawaiian chicken. I found both very tasty, especially the chicken. The eggplant is also delicious as a side dish, plus good hibiscus iced tea. Nice people and they play great music.

Firstly to the owner Adam, thank you very much for the lovely food. The cheesesteak was very lovely with love and attention put into it, the toppings were amazing and it was a generously large portion. The chips were hand cut and fried and seasoned on the spot making them as fresh and tasty as possible. You will not leave hungry and for a good price too. The salads were freshly made and very tasty pairing well with the food. The kerkadeh was also very amazing in this heat. I cant speak to the hawawshi but the rest was so good I must come back to try it. The owner himself is also a very friendly and warm Egyptian man who happily makes the food with love and makes friendly conversation. I look forward to seeing you again Adam

I don’t understand how this place has only 4.1 stars. That’s ridiculous. The food is really tasty and suitable for everyone. I highly recommend trying Adam’s Double Cheesesteak. The quality of the meat feels high, and the taste is balanced and enjoyable for all kinds of guests. Highly recommended!

Passed by hawawshi and was intrigued by the food and crowd so we decided to try Egyptian food out. We got the chicken hawawshi and vegan hawawshi. Its like a thin crispy pita with moist salty filling that is served piping hot with a refreshing side salad which goes perfectly with the hawawshi. Would highly recommend anyone nearby for a warm and filling meal. Would've loved to try the other items but we were full.

Much much much too expensive for the amount of food. I expected a “double” portion of meat or cheese or something since “double” is in the name but it was double the bread. There were NO caramelized onion on it. Very very very disappointed for the cost versus the quantity. Indoors is very hot and humid.
