Hayai Sushi Delft in Wijk 11 Binnenstad

The sushi is tasty, but delivery takes forever. We waited over 2 hours today. Called twice, but received an unfriendly response. Waiting on weekends is supposedly normal. The delivery person was supposed to be here within 10 minutes; he meant well over 30... Unfortunately, we are going to look for another sushi restaurant.

The order was incomplete; when we called about it, someone was already on their way to deliver it. But half an hour later, still nothing. Called again. They knew nothing about it, but said someone would be sent now. After 45 minutes, the missing beans arrived after all, but that obviously made no sense anymore. Emails go unanswered, and when calling, staff answer who don't know what to do.

I ordered food for 21, the order is 30 minutes late... At 22 I have to be at work, and the restaurant staff still says to wait. I don't recommend

If you want to wait 2 hours for sushi that is also stale and smells very strange (spoiled products?), be my guest. I have given this place so many chances over a long period, but absolutely nothing changes. When you call, the standard answer is supposedly on the way, after which you have to wait at least another 30 minutes; the staff is also very rude and unfriendly, from the counter staff to the delivery drivers who seem to have lost their tongues on the way during the 2-hour drive.

Unfortunately, it always takes a very long time to arrive. Maybe do something about it or look for different delivery services? Sorry, but a 2-hour delivery time isn't going to work 🤷🏻‍♀️

Terrible. After waiting 3 hours and calling, they said it was on its way. After calling for half an hour, they said it was on its way now, and the staff on the phone were super rude. No solution was possible with this person.

I ordered the fried chicken and salmon rolls for the second time, and unfortunately I was disappointed again. I didn’t leave a review the first time, but the rolls looked terrible then as well. There was barely any salmon inside — just a tiny piece, while most of each roll was simply rice. The pieces were cut very unevenly and looked messy and poorly made. Some were much bigger than others, the edges were sloppy, and the rolls were also over-fried. There was hardly any chicken or salmon filling, so the taste was very bland and disappointing. After giving this place a second chance and having the same experience twice, I definitely won’t be ordering again. Very poor quality for sushi.

Unfortunately, we have now been waiting for 2 hours and 20 minutes. Truly bizarre. Called 3 times to ask where it is, and every time it says the delivery person is on their way. The child should have been in bed long ago, but still no food. Then don't offer delivery and only takeout if you can't handle it. We used to be regular customers, but unfortunately, we won't be ordering from here again. I was asked on the phone to contact customer service, but I can't find that anywhere. Please do not order from here.

Very good sushi and poke bowls. Good value for money too, with free bonus sushi rolls. 3 stars for atmosphere , since it is delivery or pickup only. The guys are very friendly though and service is fast. Usually max 15 minutes between order and pickup.

Ordered but had to wait almost 2 hours, not the indicated time of 40-70 minutes. They only answered after calling 4 times and then indicated "it is on its way". Finally arrived after 2 hours.

Ordered for €47, waited 2 hours. Called back and the delivery person said they were on their way, but the delivery person only arrived three-quarters of an hour after my call. I give the taste and quality of the sushi a 2. €4.50 for a small bowl of tasteless wakame sauce. Chicken spring rolls soggy and without chili sauce. 1 sake nigiri worth €2.50 not delivered. The taste and content of the crispy tuna have also deteriorated significantly compared to before. One thing I know for sure: I will never, ever order from here again. I even find sushi from the supermarket much better than the food here. The fact that I am taking the time to write a negative review says a lot, because I am anything but someone who ruins things for another entrepreneur, but that is really not how you run a business, sorry! Oh yes, I also got a stomach ache immediately.

Normally I am satisfied, but today I waited well over 2.5 hours. Eventually I just called; the delivery driver was on their way, as stated in the Thuisbezorgd app, but normally the food is there within 10 minutes. After about 20 minutes I called again, and then they called the delivery driver; he arrived within 7 minutes. Eventually he arrived and I received the wrong order; before I could say anything, he drove away. I chased after him. Luckily, some neighbors saw what was going on and made the guy stop so I got the right order after all. The taste wasn't great today either; all the sushi pieces were pressed together, causing it to fall apart. A bit of a shame. I think if I hadn't called, I would have had to wait even longer. I had ordered incredibly early specifically because I had an appointment in the evening; I do this often and it’s usually on time.

I had to wait almost 2 hours for my food and I had cash, but they had no change, and I called them but I didn't get my money. I immediately made a donation; they had to pay me compensation of about 1,500 and I did receive that.

I ordered sushi, edamame, and a drink. Unfortunately, the edamame was completely missing from the order. Additionally, I had not selected the option to receive it without soy sauce and chopsticks, but these were not included. Very disappointing, especially since, for what you pay, you expect an order to be delivered complete.

Pathetic service. Avoid this place! I ordered at 12:00 PM based on a 30-minute estimate that they advertised on Uber Eats, and it I got delivered at 2:00 PM—two hours later. To make it worse, they are completely ignored my phone calls. Taking people's money and refusing to communicate is no way to run a business. Utterly unprofessional and a total waste of time. Please Order elsewhere.

The food is acceptable (though lukewarm), were it not for the fact that it sat on the counter for an hour and a half until I finally went to pick it up myself because I had to go somewhere else. Ordered via Uber at 5:15 PM for 7:30 PM, called at 7:45 PM, told them it was already ready and I was just waiting for a delivery person, exactly the same story at 8:15 PM, so I just picked it up myself at 8:30 PM. What terrible service; just tell me directly that it would be better to pick it up myself than to wait. I live a 4-minute bike ride away (I didn't know that at first, and you don't get a discount via Uber for pickup). I wouldn't order here in the evening; only pick up if it's absolutely necessary.

Ordered online via their own website. Delivered within 1.5 hours on a Saturday, which is reasonable in my opinion. There was nothing wrong with the sushi; it tasted good, but I've had better. However, for the price plus the free rolls, it was a very good deal. Worth repeating.

Hi, we spoke once regarding a burglary. My shop was robbed, and your place too; your door was kicked to pieces. I am regularly being run over by your delivery drivers today. Today, Monday, I’ve had enough. Your idiot delivery driver and his disgusting look towards me must not happen again. Who does this idiot think he is? It used to be great sushi, but not anymore. An hour late, only excuses if you call yourself. Empty promises on the phone that aren't kept. Even the food is declining in quality. The student box used to be tasty and cheap, but now it's basically neither.

Very disappointing experience! The order took over three hours to arrive, which is already an unacceptably long time. Unfortunately, the quality of the food turned out to be even more concerning. The avocado was discolored dark brown to black and clearly not fresh. The fish had a strong, unpleasant smell and the taste was far from good. In the end, I had to throw the order away, which is a real waste of money. This is the worst sushi experience I have ever had. Additionally, I contacted them to discuss this and to ask for a suitable solution or compensation, but I received no response whatsoever. Very unprofessional. If it were possible to give 0 stars, I certainly would have done so!

I ordered sushi here but never again. The sushi was so gross, the fish isn't fresh, it stinks, and the taste isn't good. The avocado is black and almost has mold on it already; truly rancid. How dare you charge money for this?

My boyfriend ordered us 2 “Sushi Vegetarians” from the website for pickup around 8 p.m. on Valentine’s Day. They told us it would be available for pickup at 9 p.m. He arrived at 9 p.m. and the order wasn’t ready despite them having an hour to make the order. He had to wait an additional 15 minutes for them to prepare the order. To compensate, they threw in a free roll which I found nice. The food was delicious, my only main problem was that they didn’t add ginger. Not sure if that was a normal thing. We enjoyed our veggie sushi and will consider this place in the future, but if you’re in a rush, don’t consider them.

Avoid this place. We had to wait four hours for our order. After four hours, it finally arrived, and the mini spring rolls were missing. After 20 minutes of trying to contact them, we finally got someone on the phone. They said they would bring them to us as soon as possible. This took an hour and a half. After this, we left a review on Thuisbezorgd and received a call from the place immediately. They asked if we could remove the review in exchange for a free roll on our next order. This is blatant bribery and a money-grabbing scam! I didn't remove the review!

I am extremely dissatisfied and frustrated with how my order from Saturday, February 14, 2026, was handled. The order was never delivered, even though I placed it quite early in the day. That same day, I called several times and was repeatedly told that the order was "almost ready to leave." Later, they even said it was already on its way. Ultimately, however, nothing arrived. I find this highly misleading and unprofessional. Furthermore, I sent an email on February 14 to report this, but to date I have received no response and no refund. The lack of communication, the contradictory information, and the fact that the order was accepted and paid for but never delivered are unacceptable and irresponsible. I urge you to resolve this issue immediately and refund the full amount as soon as possible.

Horrible experience!!! I'm from Belgium and I'm staying at a hotel here in Rotterdam for New Year's. We wanted to order food at 7 p.m. because that would be faster than ordering in person. We ordered at 7 p.m. and the order was supposed to arrive at 8:30 p.m. At 9:15 p.m., still nothing, so I called the restaurant. They told me the delivery driver was on his way and would be there in 5 minutes. I then waited another 20 minutes outside and still nothing. I tried to call the restaurant again, but they didn't answer. After calling 20 times, I decided to go there and see what happened. When I arrived, they were told they closed at 9:45 p.m.? Even though their website says they should close at 10 p.m.? In the end, I never received my order, and they claimed to have delivered it on Takeaway. A truly awful experience. Unprofessional. Terrible. When I contacted the restaurant the next day to explain the problem, I wasn't taken seriously, and the manager claimed I was "stupid" and that it wasn't their problem at all. The manager was incredibly rude on the phone and yelled at me. Unbelievable! I absolutely do not recommend this restaurant!!!

The delivery took so long that at 9:45 PM the order was marked as "Completed" (by the restaurant or Uber?), leaving me literally empty-handed and with an empty wallet... And still NO ONE answers the phone!!! Edit: The delivery person finally showed up, 20 minutes after this review went live. But even an "sorry" was barely manageable.

I've ordered from Hayai several times, and this time I received this. It was supposed to be a deep-fried salon roll, but it tasted stale and the salmon was gray. When I called and sent them a picture, they said it was supposed to be like this. After ordering at least 5 or 6 times, it arrived like this for the first time, so how is this the standard? The service was absolutely terrible, never again!!!! And the rest of the order was absolutely awful, truly disappointing, for over €70.

I placed an order at Hayai Sushi Delft at 5:22 PM for delivery at 6:45 PM. At 7:10 PM, I called them to ask where my order was. The person on the phone said (as is always the case here) that the delivery driver was on his way, so I assumed it wouldn't take longer than 10 minutes. At 7:45 PM, I still hadn't received my order, so I called Hayai Delft again. He said the delivery driver was still on his way, so I suggested I call the police because something must have happened to the driver. "No," the receptionist said, "he's gone with 10 orders!!!" How can you deliver fresh fish with 10 orders at once? How do you get food poisoning? Well, that's how it is. Finally, at 7:59 PM, the doorbell rang with my order. I'd like a refund, and I advise everyone never to order from here. Owner Mohamed Karim also sent a message, but he doesn't care because his pockets are already full.
