Nice location near the petting zoo and playground, young girls working there who clearly still need to gain some catering experience.

Four tables on the terrace were occupied. I made eye contact with the staff several times, but there was no response. A second order was taken at a table further away, and the table was cleared. Another table had its order taken, and without a glance around, the staff walked away. I didn't see anyone for 10 minutes. Drinks were brought to a table, and again, without looking up or around, the staff walked straight off the terrace. After 20 minutes, we realized why: two women were busy on their phones. I said goodbye as we left the terrace, but as expected, there was no response. I would have loved a cup of coffee, probably after a long lunch with my family.

The playground is great for toddlers; we're regulars there. Unfortunately, the service in the restaurant is very poor. Several times, we've been sitting on the patio with maybe two or three other tables occupied, and the four waitresses completely ignored us; they were standing around the corner chatting at a standing table. I've walked over to them a few times to order, and they reacted with irritation. If I don't walk over, I don't get any help. We've also left several times after more than half an hour. Such a shame...

I found it a very pleasant location, a good, friendly atmosphere, and the food is delicious. The BBQ chicken sandwich is highly recommended.

Lunch is surprisingly good. The service is friendly. There's a playground next door and a fun animal farm (chickens, goats, etc.), so it's a must for families with children.

Typical Gen Z service. If you arrive at 5:45 pm in 30°C, they avoid you for 5 minutes and then tell you the drinks and kitchen are closed. Then they spend another 40 minutes cleaning up... they could have been much more hospitable. Too bad, again.

The meat was delicious, the salads fresh, and everything was perfectly prepared. Besides the delicious food, the atmosphere at Hoeve Essensteijn was truly beautiful. The rural setting and cozy decor created a relaxed and festive atmosphere. This made my birthday extra special. The service also deserves a big compliment. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and professional. They made sure we had everything we needed and truly contributed to the positive experience. A super fun place to have lunch. I had arranged to meet a friend and we had a great meal, laughed and talked. Beautiful surroundings, cozy, super friendly staff, beautifully decorated plates with chicken (I had chicken) and lots of salad and very large sandwiches. What a meal! We will come here more often. I celebrated my birthday outside on the terrace with children and grandchildren. The grandchildren played wonderfully in the playground, which is right in front of your table and fenced off so also safe for small children. We had a delicious meal. Well prepared and lots of choice. The service is quick and friendly. We will definitely come back next year.

Last Monday we enjoyed a delicious Easter buffet and what a party it was! The buffet contained baked bread, creamy butter, croissants, cheeses, scrambled eggs, scones, charcuterie, fresh fruit, and so many other goodies. Everything was brand new. What made it extra special was the service and the place: friendly, genuine and relaxed. Relax for a moment in a busy world. You really feel welcome here. Highly recommended for anyone who likes good food and a nice place. We will definitely come back!

This should be a moved turbine, the area is pretty, easily accessible, less crowded.

We recently had a great company outing here. First we had a drink in the sun with a view of the mill. Then we did a fun activity; The Escape Box. After the activity we had a delicious meal; half of our group had meat fondue and the other half had cheese fondue. We had a very nice meal and everything was taken care of down to the last detail. Very friendly service. We will come back more often.

On November 25, 2024 we had a meeting with 60 members of the Vlietsteden Entrepreneurs Club at Hoeve Essesteijn. It was a very successful evening, especially thanks to the very hospitable welcome, personal service and delicious BBQ buffet.

Last Sunday I had a drink for my 50th birthday. The drinks were outside under the attractive and cozy tent. Everything was well organized from start to finish with professional service; really recommended!

Well-kept reception. Sandwiches and snacks were very good. Service was excellent and friendly. Toilets could receive a little more attention.

Really a horror here. Soup ice cold, served after half an hour. The sandwiches came an hour after the soup. The carpaccio had a nasty soup on it with balsamic and truffle sauce. We took the cakes with us because the room was cleared for the next group. Bah

What a great location this is! I love coming here with my children. They can play while I sit on the terrace with a drink or order a delicious lunch. In October 2024 we also organized a private party at the Hoeve with 130 guests. It was in one word: AMAZING! the location was attractively decorated, the barbecue package was delicious and well organised, Jordy the host had an eye on everything and arrived at just the right time with drinks, the guests had a great time and so did we! We would like to thank everyone at Hoeve Essesteijn for their contributions and let everyone know: we are regular customers!

As a Tennis Club, we threw a party in De Hoeve for more than 100 members. It's a perfect location. Good food and drinks and very friendly and hospitable service! Highly recommended to throw a great party

Top location for lunch or drinks with small children. When the weather is nice, it's nice to be outside with a good playground and various animals in the field. On bad days, inside the play corner. Always very friendly service, geared towards (small) children and a varied menu. Update: Unfortunately, the last 3 times we have been, the kitchen/orders close from 4:00 PM due to staff shortages. Of course, the hard workers on that day cannot do anything about that, but it is always a disappointment that there is nothing left to order around drinks time.

Hoeve Essesteijn was a beautiful location for us to celebrate our party. What we really appreciated was: - the farm is picturesquely located and has ample opportunity to be indoors or outdoors, depending on the weather. We opted for a cozy atmosphere under the haystack and later on the terrace. - Jordy is a great host who was open to all our ideas and worked very hard to make something beautiful out of it. Everything went smoothly, even during the party. - The food and drinks were well taken care of. Festive welcome drink, tasty platters and snacks, and a tasty BBQ, with no standard offering but very original. We opted for a mix of Farmhouse and Greenhouse (vegetarian), which was very successful. The dessert buffet topped it off. - The staff was very helpful, friendly and service-oriented. TOP! In the meantime, the farmhouse/greenhouse BBQ was being set up and when the buffet was ready, everyone moved with a full plate to the cozy terrace under the large tent, pleasantly lit when it slowly became dark.

Today is a family celebration. There was a power outage. But other than that it was mediocre. Too bad, nice location but service and care minimal.

I always enjoy the farm very much. For a quick drink, meal or rented for a large group. The kids can play; there is plenty to do. The service is pleasant and helpful at a time when good catering staff are scarce. In addition, a good original menu: tasty snacks, good affordable wines and a slightly more extensive special beer range than most catering establishments in Voorburg.

Had lunch with 2 sandwiches, 3x water with bubbles (which contained little carbon dioxide, it looked like Sodastream) and no fresh orange juice, I spent more than 45 euros. I thought it was a lot of money. I will definitely come back, but without lunch.

Our anniversary party of Sintvoorieder1 in Hoeve Essesteijn was great! Jordy was very helpful and provided input both before and during the party. The snacks were tasty and the atmosphere in the Hoeve was great for a party of about 80 people. We danced to the music of the DJ Bingo Brothers and didn't really want to stop. I highly recommend this location, free parking, close to arterial roads and the farm itself is attractive. Thank you Hoeve Essesteijn!

Top location to throw a good party! On a Saturday evening we rented the location for 50 people, had a delicious BBQ, dessert buffet, then disco bingo, followed by a DJ and some great dancing. Great atmosphere, attentive service, everything super organized. Highly recommended!

Not really a petting zoo, but a restaurant with some animals around it. Playground is very disappointing. Didn't see a sheep or pig, let alone cuddle one. 3 goats and that was it. You have to pay for the mill next door. Not really worth going there unless you want to eat.

The food is fine. Meat ball could be a little warmer. But the staff still has a lot to learn! No attention to the customers at all. Of the 4 walking around, 1 is actually working. (girl with long dark hair and white headband) 1 has been watching videos on the computer for over an hour, the other is walking around looking around, except at her customers. We have to keep shouting. Don't ask if you want something to drink, don't clear the table right away and everything takes a long time. Shame. Nice for once, but never again

Afgelopen weekend geluncht bij Hoeve Essesteijn. Locatie is leuk en verrassend. Helaas viel de lunch enorm tegen. Zeer karig en niet bijzonder, maar wel duur. Ook de bediening liet te wensen over. Wij komen hier niet meer turug

We had booked a social deal The food was tasty, but I thought the portions for social deal were on the small side. My 'soup' served in a small tea glass, and my ball sandwich was lukewarm and had cooled down quite a bit due to the wait. Furthermore, the drinks were the final straw!! We ordered an ice tea and orange juice, which we still had to pay for, and that cost us... €9.60!!! We're not that picky, but I think this is downright ridiculous!!! I'd rather eat all-in, for €30 per person, which includes drinks. It was fun for once, but I don't think we'll be back...

Celebrated my 60th birthday on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Hoeve Essesteijn. All guests were impressed by this cozy location, especially the foreign guests thought the mill was fantastic. We could use both outside and inside space. In addition to the BBQ, magician Charley was also a great success. In short, a location where you can make your own interpretation of the evening a great success. Jordy and your team, thank you for your efforts and fun.

Our party consisted of 40 people, from three generations. The Italian lunch buffet was delicious, varied and more than sufficient. The 'Leidschendam 'peats' could be kept in the refrigerator. Contact with De Hoeve was very pleasant beforehand and on the day itself. Definitely a place to come back again!

Having to wait 75 minutes for our lunch was not much. Paid €18 for two coffees and two iced teas alone. The toilet was also very dirty.

Happy I found this place! It's great for kids and nice for parents too. Edit 2024: not such a good experience this time, hope it's just bad luck. The sandwiches, while taste was fine, have little filling. Only half a slice of bacon for a bacon- avocado sandwich. Their coffee was bad, very bitter/sour aftertaste. Stick to beer/cola and the play area.

Leuke locatie waar je gezellig wat kunt drinken en ook lekker wat kunt lunchen. Wij komen hier altijd als wij even in Nederland zijn. In de zomer kun je er ook lekker buiten zitten op een mooi terras.

Cozy farm experience with the stove on

Nice location, but unfortunately the service and food were a bit disappointing. Food was sparse, looked nice, but toppings were only for 1 slice of bread, so the other slice of bread was eaten dry. Bacon pancake only had 3 scant strips of bacon. Allergies were not properly taken into account.

We had a delicious lunch. The atmosphere is warm. It's nice that the children have also been thought of. The children can play happily in the play corner. For the rest, the service was very attentive and very customer-friendly. For us it is worth repeating!

Recommended. Service is always pleasant and the atmosphere is always good. The toys are in need of renewal because some things are really broken.

Top plek, gezellige inrichting. Huiselijk en ontspannen. Nette bediening, mooie prijzen en goede kwaliteit. Voor de kleinsten een speelhoek binnen, buiten ook van alles te beleven.

Na een wandeling een wijntje op het terras , of een lunch , en mijn 75e verjaardag met familie. 45 personen. Prima geregeld en personeel denkt echt met je mee . En ……..het winter feestje . Wat een sfeer.

Gezellige plek voor een borrel met vrienden, met kindjes en met hondjes. Iedereen is welkom bij Hoeve Essesteijn en de Hoeve is ook een uitstekende plek voor een feest, partij, bruiloft etc. De menukaart wisselt ook af en heeft veel samenwerking met lokale leveranciers. Geweldig!
