John's Bistro in Wijk 10 Binnenstad

What a fantastic place! The prices we know today for a "good" meal often lead to disappointment. Not here! I've never had such a delicious piece of meat! The USA steak and the sirloin steak were ridiculously good. Even the fries were fresh and crispy, and the sweet potato with truffle mayo was also incredibly delicious. Moreover, the service was incredibly good and friendly—no robots, but appropriately sociable and with time for a friendly chat. It's small, which fills up quickly and gets a bit crowded, especially if a large, cheerful group of men happens to be there. But honestly, we enjoyed the atmosphere and the buzz of people enjoying themselves around us. We will definitely be back! ❤️

Had a delicious meal at John's Bistro tonight. We had John's choice as a starter and the dish of the day and the chicken as a main course. The service was fantastic. As soon as the glass was empty, someone came by again and the service was very service-oriented and friendly. I asked for an adjustment to the dish due to lactose intolerance and this was immediately handled. The starter was adjusted and I was advised about the sauces for the main course. Unfortunately, we were so full after the main course that we couldn't have dessert. All in all, we had a delicious meal in this attractive bistro.

I haven't had such a good meal here in a long time, what a great restaurant!!! The only negative point was that I thought it was a bit too dark inside, while it is light outside, if it was a bit brighter I would have given 5 stars for the atmosphere... but you really have to eat here, it is perfect here!!!!!!!!

Delicious food. Large portions of soup. Delicious meat and top wines. Service was good and not disturbing. Knew exactly when they were needed. Meat was excellently prepared, the fries were perfectly cooked. Thanks for a great evening

Ресторанчик маленьки с малюсенькой кухней.Посадочных мест очень много.Были опасения о длительном ожидании , но наши луковые супы были поданы в приемлимое время. Суп был хорош. Детского меню нет.Мы были с сыном 7 лет и поэтому попросили придумать для него что-то.Нам предложили нагетс с картошкой фри и это было хорошим и вкусным решением.Спасибо за чуткость! Из минусов могу отметить только шумную атмосферу в силу большого количества поситителей и маленькой площади ресторана

Delicious food and cozy atmosphere

We werden bij de ingang vriendelijk ontvangen en namen plaats aan de samengestelde 6 persoons gereserveerde tafel met prima zittende stoelen. We hebben genoten van een heerlijk 3-gangen menu. Iedereen vond de gerechten erg lekker en alles zag er mooi opgemaakt uit. Ook was alles ruim voldoende. Kortom een aanrader voor een gezellig avondje lekker uit eten. Ook de prijzen zijn prima ivm de kwaliteit en bediening.

Heerlijk gegeten. We hadden de kip en de vis special. De ruimte heeft een fijne sfeer en erg vriendelijk personeel. Leuk dat je zo half de keuken in kan kijken.

We received a slice of bread on the house in advance. The sandwich lacked the airiness and the herb butter had a delicious taste, but tasted like margarine instead of butter, which did detract from the taste, because it was really tasty. Onion soup was very tasty to eat, but here too I missed the lightness of the sandwich. Actually just not suitable for soup, which is a shame, because the soup tasted really good. Carpaccio was good to eat. The pesto is in the Carpaccio, so there was no real choice between pesto or truffle, but perhaps that is a habit of being able to choose. The taste here was delicious too. We had a chateaubriand for 2 people. We got 6 slices, so 3 slices per person. With some vegetables underneath (zucchini strips, carrot strips and green beans) and stroganoff sauce and fries. The meat was really excellent, but far too little for two people and therefore on the pricey side. A little bit of vegetables underneath doesn't really fill you up and the sauce was just a little too little. We could have ordered a salad, but actually it would have been better to serve salad instead of fries, especially because it is actually just too little for two people, so then you fill up with fries, salad would have been a healthier/better option, For that reason I refused to order any salad for an additional charge. For dessert I had the creme brulee. Here too the taste was good and the ice cream had a good taste and was not crystallized. All in all the taste was very good, but it just wasn't there. No repeat for us. It is also not recommended to sit opposite the toilet/supply door, there was a lot of cold as soon as the door opened/closed, but that could also be due to the fact that we are quite cold. Unfortunately, the photos were taken while eating, so they are not very representative in terms of appearance, apologies for that.

We just had a delicious (Christmas) dinner. Great food again, and a good atmosphere. Compliments to the waiting staff, very friendly and pleasant. A truly wonderful evening out! Robin & Wendy

Upon arrival I was told that the restaurant was actually fully booked. But they could still accommodate 1 person, provided I could eat within an hour. It was very nice that they thought along and that it was still possible to get a table. I chose the carpaccio as a starter and I must say that this was really one of the tastiest carpaccios I had in a long time. The pesto was incorporated into the meat and it was really delicious! As a main course I had the spare ribs and it is always questionable whether they are tender. These certainly were! I could eat them with a knife and fork and the meat fell right off the bone. You also got a bucket of fries, a bowl of salad and 3 sauces. Very satisfied with this restaurant and the service was also very friendly.

A very cozy restaurant and very good food with an extensive menu.

Small bistro on the Kleine Noord in a beautiful building. A bit narrow so tables are a bit on top of each other. But the food makes up for a lot. Delicious mustard soup or tasting beforehand. Tournedos is well cooked. Nice staff.

Nice restaurant in the city center of Hoorn. Plenty to choose from on the menu and the service is friendly. Had 5 tasting starters as a starter, the main course the USA Steak and the tasting for dessert. Everything tastes great.

We ate at John's Bistro based on the internet reviews and can only confirm the previous positive reviews. Food (USA steak, spare ribs, prawns) is absolutely perfect and recommended!!! Rarely have I had such a good and tender steak. Gambas were served to the table still sizzling. Service very friendly and competent!!! Johns Bistro is an absolute recommendation for every visitor to Hoorn.

Everything was very good, it is definitely worth coming back, even from Germany where I live, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

They don’t have English menu but my waitress (Hana?) was very helpful by explaining items on the menu. I was served with the complimentary breads just like all other tables although I was dining alone. Dinner was very delicious. Waitress was very attentive. Great service + great food = Wonderful dinner experience.

John's bistro is een gezellige sfeervolle bistro. Toen we binnenkwamen werden we hartelijk ontvangen door het personeel en de chef's in de open keuken. We begonnen met carpaccio en zalm vooraf. Vooral de carpaccio was heerlijk. Daarna beide een gevulde varkenshaas met friet, goed gevuld met brie en ham. We hebben hier super lekker gegeten voor een leuke prijs. Kortom een aanrader voor een gezellige avond met lekker eten!

Heerlijk gegeten en leuke bediening. Leuke kaart met lekkere gerechten. Wij zaten buiten op het terras. Dat is wel wat krap. Zou wel een paar tafeltjes minder kunnen.

Very tasty food, just very noisy, it was also very busy with men's waterworks groups, but it was great.

This cosy family owned and run bistro was truly a delightful lunch stop. Its even worth a detour to enjoy both an excellent meal and hospitable engagement from the small team. They offered us both the traditional lunch menu and the dinner and specials menu. The four of us had different things and every choice was wonderful. After lunch the owner-chef even revealed the secret of his smoked salmon (hand prepared on the premises) and provided the recipe - how cool is that!?!? They have only just started doing lunch after successfully providing an evening menu that is pretty booked up. So get in now while the gettings good - you won't regret it.

Prima plek om een lekkere maaltijd te eten. We waren met een gezelschap van 6 personen en iedereen was zeer te spreken over de kwaliteit van het vlees, zéér mals. De overige ingrediënten op het bord was goed maar niet heel erg bijzonder, uiteraard is het een en ander bij te bestellen. Er is een kleine dessert kaart maar ook deze gerechten zijn prima. Kortom gewoon goed gegeten.

A beautiful local restaurant, friendly service and the USA. Steak…. Phenomenal, how soft and what delicious flavors, I crossed myself when I was served it in the hope that this would be a real steak for once and yes, the tastiest ever, and the carpacio too of course. See you soon

Geweldig lekker gegeten echt top

Super lekker gegeten...de een had spareribs de ander vega (krokante risotto) de ander kalfs vlees en weer een ander USA steak...alles heerlijk mals !! Super aanrader! Aardig personeel een fijne gezellige sfeer. Er werd voor het eerst espresso martini gemaakt (net op de kaart) top! Wij komen zeker terug!

Heerlijk gegeten op vrijdagavond 1 september . Met de collega’s gegeten en als vooraf Johns proeverij . Heerlijk 5 verschillende gerechtjes. Als hoofdgerecht de fijn gesneden usa 🇺🇸 steak . Heerlijk zacht vlees op een bedje van groenten en pepersaus . Dessert een heerlijke kaasplank en alle kaassoorten waren heerlijk van smaak. Ik kom binnenkort zeker terug en groot compliment aan de zwarte en witte brigade. Dikke pluim

Er was kermis, het was daardoor druk, toch nog een tafel voor 2. Echt heerlijk gegeten, echt geweldige kwaliteit en hele fijne bediening. Lieve mensen die keihard werken om het naar je zin te maken.

Sinds een hele tijd weer eens bij John’s Bistro gegeten. Wat een verrassende kaart; bijna alles is anders dan anders. Vriendelijke bediening. Gewoon kraanwater bij de wijn ipv dure flessen. Het eten was zalig!

Leuke zaak met goed eten, lekker stuk vlees. De bediening was alleen niet voorbereid op zoveel bestellingen voor speciaalbier haha, kwam wel allemaal goed.
