Super friendly staff and a warm welcome. The food is traditional Thai and truly authentic. As someone who is Thai myself, I can say the food was delicious and well-seasoned. Furthermore, the price-quality ratio is excellent; you really get your money's worth. Highly recommended!

We had a truly delicious meal! It was very busy, but we still got our food in no time. The staff were very friendly, and the food was fantastic. We're moored in Steenwijk, and Kao Thai is definitely worth a detour. We'll definitely be back.

We picked up something. Difficult name for the dishes, but the crispy salmon is delicious. Had picked it up here last year on our holiday and ate it on the boat.

We were pleasantly surprised and ate there for the first time yesterday. The food is great and authentic. Hospitality and service are at a high level. The prices are reasonable, especially in this day and age. Coffee, tea and water are on the house. In short, we are often found here.

This restaurant mainly thrive on take-away dinners but they have a few tables for dine-in. As a starter I had tom kha soup. Was ok but not stellar. For main I had Pad nam prik pao which was great! Staff is very friendly and the prices are fair.

Visited 13.04.2024 It’s an amazing experience in this cute place. Thai street food videos were played on the screen which attracts me a lot. The food is absolutely delicious, and staffs are so welcoming and so kind. If you just went back from Giethoorn, please give this place a try.

Delicious dinner with 6 people at KAO Thai, chef's specialty in advance, fried wonton with spiced minced chicken and lime, monthly menu, green curry, massaman curry, pad Thai, fried rice and noodles. All I can say is that it all tasted fantastic.

Absolutely delicious beef curry with rice (€17 refillable) and Pad Thai (€18.5) that my and my boyfriend had in a while ! We’re from Hong Kong where we have a town famous for Thai food by Thai 💕💕💕 Lucky of us to be able to have our dinner ordered just before the last order time. We were very spoiled by the Nora, who took our order, and the Thai chef, who reminded us both water and rice can be refilled. Authentic food and cozy environment, with a home feel in the taste and vibe 💕

Absolutely fantastic thai food and amazing people. We found this gem when we were going to giethoorn. We had our bus departing in 25 mins so we asked for takeaway. They understood the ask for hurry and had the food ready in 10 mins.

Simply delicious. Don't let the outside scare you and go inside. Super nice service, our dog got water and broccoli to eat. You can get as much water and tea as you want for free and you can get rice for free. For us this was some of the best Thai food. 5 stars plus. 🌟

The two women cooking were super friendly and helpful. It is that Michelin does not award stars to restaurants with wooden tables, but as far as I am concerned, KAO Thai is entitled to at least 1 star. The food was beyond delicious. I don't know what it was called, but on the menu it was no. 4 and no. 22. The nasi, but especially the bami, was very tasty!

Thai food, I recommend this restaurant if anyone comes to Giethoorn, 15 minutes by car. The taste of authentic Thai food, a variety of menus, the owner of the restaurant is very cute and the service is excellent.

We took this month's Chef Special (Korean Sushi with shrimp chicken, eggrolls and kimchi) and the Pad Med Mamuang. It was really delicious. The personell was friendly. The owner was very kind and concerned whether we liked it and whether it was enough. Offered coffee and tea for free and gave me some Kimchi to take home when I told her I liked the taste. All food was fresh and well cooked. It's mainly a take away with some tables and chairs. It appeared there was no toilet, but there was. To get there you walk aside of the kitchen. I like it when a restaurant has an open kitchen. I saw all people working hard (rush hour:) A pity we live in Germany, but we will surely return there for a real Thai taste experience with a very kind personal touch. 6 stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It is usually hard to find a true-to-taste authentic Thai restaurant in Europe, but how is this one restaurant in a small town of the Netherlands nailed it?! The moment I peaked through the window and saw the chef with her very Thai-chef like hat, I knew I had come to the right place. Food was almost perfect to what I always had when living in Thailand! I felt a tiny bit emotional while eating because it brought back so many memories of Thai's hospitality and splendid cuisine. The service was very good. We came in a group of 4 and had about three dishes to share with their wonderful recommendations as well as the secret menu. I'm your new fan, and I would not mind the 2 hrs train from Amsterdam to come eat your food again!

The owner is very nice! Although there are many customers, the waiting time is not that long. I couldn't finish my curry and asked them for a takeout container. The owner helped me wrap and seal the takeout container and even gave me extra rice!

Authentic Thai with world-class curry. Took a detour to get there on our way to the sea, motivated by the 5-star rating. It only took a while to get the ordered dishes, although it didn't seem very busy. Had a green curry which was authentic and one of the best Thai curries I ever had. I'd always make a detour for this place again!

Had a nice meal again at KAO Thai, Here is really authentic Thai food. For example, spicy soup (Tom saab), papaya salad (Som Tam) and Paneng curry is super delicious.

The restaurant is not inviting. glorified snack bar. Food is good. But it would be nice to separate takeaway and restaurant. Little space inside. No atmosphere. Pity. Would certainly score better with the appearance of the building. Both in and outside.

When you walk into this place you think, huh? "Not what I expected" until you sit down and are helped. Lovely polite staff, open kitchen. Great service. And really, I never say this, but what fantastic delicious food. The quality is close to perfect, the meat is marinated in a perfect way, the vegetables are perfectly cooked and everything combines wonderfully. I'm not one to write reviews often, I think this is my second time. We looked on Google maps and saw a 5 star restaurant. And so we decided to go there. What's unfortunate is that 5 stars is the max because this business and the staff deserve more.

I traveled here yesterday and found this Thai restaurant for dinner. The food was delicious and authentic. The female boss and the staff were very kind and interacted well with the guests. The food was absolutely delicious and the service too. We had lunch on day one on our way to giethoorn and took the same route back home just to get lunch from here on day two. The food was freshly prepared and was top notch. We asked for nasi goreng which was not on the menu but the lady was so kind she specially prepared it for us. I really like this unpretentious casual place. The interior is clean and cozy. The people are super friendly and welcoming. The food is unpretentious too with some classic street food. I had yum woon sen which tastes so good and fresh. Will definitely eat here again.

I had green curry and spring rolls for lunch. It was the most delicious green curry I’ve ever had in my life! I think I will always miss this taste! Because it is lunch, the price is cheap and the taste is the best👍🏻 And Koreanse Kip Frisse Dakgangjeong has the same taste as Korea! I was missing Korean food due to the long travel itinerary, but it was all solved in one go! Chicken gangjeong is really delicious!!! suggestion!!! And the owner was so kind that I had a happy lunch❤️

Nice service and smiling owner, great hospitality. Had Korean fried chicken and tom kha soup, which was amazing in taste. If anybody is near Giethoorn, must place visit to have awesome fulfilling food. Mind blowing, my stomach is very full in Netherlands which is a surprise.

Since I moved to Steenwijk, I try to visit kao thai regularly. The food is very tasty, if you don't know what you want, the chef will always advise you. I am always greeted with a smile. I have never seen a sad face on the staff. Everything is a plus. Anyone who likes Thai cuisine or would like to try it for the first time will not be disappointed. I recommend it 100% and I hope there are more restaurants like this.
