Wij hebben een jaar moeten wachten, maar dat was het 100% waard. Wat een leuk lief mooi restaurantje en het eten is buitengewoon heerlijk. Vers, netjes en gastvrij, kortom hier moet je geweest zijn!!

The four of us had a fantastic evening at KingDish. Once inside (after a long, delayed car ride), we immediately fell into a relaxed flow, along with 10 other guests. Hanneke is a fantastic hostess, attentive to everyone. She tells us about the history of the Brandspuithuisje (Brand Fire House) and how they ended up here with their restaurant. Meanwhile, Meerten prepares the most delicious dishes in the kitchen, using ingredients we hadn't yet encountered. And: made with love! Hanneke and Meerten exude a pleasant tranquility and delight in giving everyone a wonderful evening. With a pleasant taste in our mouths, we went home satisfied around 10:30. An evening we'll never forget.

What a fantastic experience! In the smallest restaurant in the Netherlands. Hanneke & Meerten (the incredibly kind owners) took us on an oriental culinary journey. Everyone was served the same delicious oriental dishes, with a few additions of their choice. Unique, pure flavors, and everything freshly prepared. This was an evening to remember!

Double party last night, it was great to be guests of Hanneke and Meerten again. This time with our children and partners we were able to enjoy all the delicious food again, it was great again in one word. It remains a culinary experience even after the 3rd time. We hebben met z’n vieren een fantastische avond gehad bij KingDish. Eenmaal binnen (na een lange autorit met veel oponthoud) zaten we meteen in een relaxte flow, met 10 andere gasten. Hanneke is een fantastische gastvrouw, heeft aandacht voor iedereen. Vertelt over de geschiedenis van het Brandspuithuisje, hoe zij hier terecht zijn gekomen met hun restaurant. Ondertussen bereidt Meerten de het keukentje de heerlijkste gerechten voor, met ingrediënten die we nog niet kenden. En: met liefde bereid! Hanneke en Meerten stralen een prettige rust uit en ze hebben er plezier in om iedereen een mooie avond te bezorgen. Met een fijne smaak nog na in onze mond gingen we rond half elf voldaan huiswaarts. Een avond om nooit te vergeten.

I took my parents to kingsdish as a surprise and what an experience it was! I had already made a reservation 6 months in advance because it was fully booked. But what do you expect when the food is so incredibly good, and of course there is only 20m⁴ of space. A week in advance they contacted me to see if I was coming and if there were any special requests. How nice that you as a customer can think along about the menu. We had no wishes ourselves and let ourselves be surprised. Incredibly sweet staff and the whole picture made it a cozy and homely atmosphere. Definitely recommended! And next year I will come back with a group of friends.

We have no opinion about the food/atmosphere because it did not come from this. Made a reservation via the website more than six months ago. Not knowing that it can also be rejected. Never received any notice of this. So make sure that you actually receive confirmation of your reservation. This is to avoid disappointment. We were certainly disappointed!

It's as if you enter someone's home, you are received and looked so warmly. No interior design but just cozy, warm and full of love. Sometimes that is the most important thing and everything that makes an evening successful! The food was tasty and full of flavour, with nice explanations about herbs and flavours. Good wine with it... in short, a successful evening!

If you ignore the experience of eating in a tiny restaurant, which is truly unique, and look objectively at the price-quality ratio offered, then you pay far too much for this. Look at the photos and yes, it is exactly as simple as it looks. The three-course dish, a side dish (regional dish) with two or three glasses of wine will easily cost you around €100 per person. The nice owners weave a whole marketing story around it, because it's all about the experience. The food that they extensively praise in their story is fine in itself, but essentially remains basic living room cooking with paper napkins and scanty cutlery. It is too commercially 'responsible'. You don't sit comfortably at small low tables and in the toilet you can admire the rust streaks that drip from the frame along a dirty Bluetooth box through the wall to the floor. Doesn't anyone dare mention that? The marketing is smart and customer-oriented, as you can see from the high reviews and long booking times for a spot. You may wonder how long this will remain the case if the first real reviewers dare to see through it...

What a wonderful evening we had on the Saturday just before Christmas! In our opinion, KingsDish completely lives up to what you read in all the reviews; both those of the Volkskrant and via the social media channels. The food is delicious and can be expanded, if desired, with the Chef's Special and matching wines and everything is equally delicious and prepared with great care😃. Meerten and Hanneke together form a very good team that radiates pleasure when they share with you the history of the special building, their own history with it and the kitchen from Minahasa. Highly recommended👍😃

Er bestaat geen toeval! Op zondag liepen we langs het kleinste restaurant van Nederland en zagen een krijtbord met "nog 2 plekken beschikbaar". Geklopt op het raam en gelijk gereserveerd. Wat een heerlijke avond was het! De gastvrouw en gastheer (en chef) waren uitermate vriendelijk. Een mooie geschiedenisles van het huisje, van tolwacht tot brandspuithuisje. Het eten was geweldig! Heerlijke smaken, mooie kleuren. Een ervaring die ik niet snel zal vergeten! Huiskamer gevoel met Michelin ervaring!

in een woord WAANZINNIG.... wat begon met een opmerking tijdens een opname in april was het dan gisteren zo ver.... benieuws nieuwsgierig gingen we er heen. We zijn van de natte binnenkomst, het stortregende, tot het vertrek in de watten gelegd . De persoonlijke benadering door Hanneke en Meerten maakt het feest compleet. We kunnen niet wachten tot de volgende keer

Eating here is a journey of discovery. The dishes are bombs of different fresh and spicy flavors. The dishes here are from a different region than the standard Indonesian food we are used to. Schattig, klein restaurant, alsof je thuis bij iemand uitgenodigd wordt. Lieve gastvrouw die wat achtergrond vertelt, sympathieke gastheer die rustig de bordjes vult vanuit het keukentje. Indonesische gerechten, net weer even anders dan gebruikelijke Indische recepten. Drie gangen met smakelijke Zuid-Afrikaanse wijn.

The smallest restaurant in the Netherlands. Approximately 14 -16 people. If you are in a hurry, don't go there. Here time passes without noticing it. Hospitality is number 1 It is a living room restaurant, so people eat when everyone is there. If you come early, you have to wait (with a nice glass of cava), if you come late, everyone else has to wait. So make sure you're there at 6:30 PM. The introduction starts with a brief history of this monumental building: From Tolhuisje, via the fire engine house, dilapidated and forgotten to the living room restaurant that it is now. With fantastic Indonesian cuisine, a very good cook and host and an enthusiastic, talkative hostess. The guests sit together on 20m2, so the atmosphere is accommodating and time is unimportant. Anyone who is looking for a quick bite and company from their mobile phone, rather than their table lady/gentleman, should not be here. You go shortly before 10:30 PM. from table-(little) The wines are also good. We enjoyed it and will definitely come back. Thank you for the great evening.

We were 8 people on March 9 and we all enjoyed a nice and pleasant evening. In a nice and small nibble nibble house! Meerten with its delicious top dishes, everything with natural products and nothing from a jar. And when he was done, he played some fun on his guitar, which sounded really nice. Hanneke is a super friendly and sweet hostess, nothing is too much and very hospitable and with a nice explanation about the history of the fire house. Luckily there was a cancellation and we got a table in this tiny restaurant. Amazing food experience for me and my friends. I would recommend this place for a nice Indonesian food experience. Hosts are warm and welcoming, and best part is they explain every thing they serve.

In een intieme setting genieten van een breed smaakpalet. De gastheer en gastvrouw hebben hun vak verstaan. De gerechten zijn stuk voor stuk juweeltjes van presentatie tot smaak sensatie. Dit alles op 20 vierkante meter incl keuken. Voorwaar een topprestatie.

It is a colorful taste experience. It's fun at "the kitchen table". What a party, we enjoyed our company and the hospitality, stories and the delicious, tasty and colorful food of Hanneke and Meerten! What a special place.

Sorry, I think our expectations were too high. A very expensive evening with food that had little taste. We only liked the entree. The experience was fun, but all in all not worth it for us. We were also unlucky that there was a hair from the chef in our food twice. A drink so expensive. You really can't get anywhere with this.

I haven't enjoyed the combination of hospitality, friendliness and great food so much in a long time! The atmosphere here is so beautiful and intense and everyone feels relaxed and at ease! In addition to the delicious food, beautiful encounters with other lovely guests, the entire ambiance invites you to do so, very special. We were even surprised with the guitar and vocals, movingly beautiful. If you really want a special evening, this is highly recommended! Definitely a GOODBYE for us. In the smallest restaurant in the Netherlands we were spoiled like never before. A special experience! 14 place settings, a wonderful ambiance, a wonderful hostess and host/chef and Indian food to literally and figuratively lick your fingers. No fuss with extra salt, sugar or flavor enhancers, but authentic flavors, exceptionally refined and elegant. What a party! Delicious matching wines, chosen with care. We will definitely come back here if we have something to celebrate or simply if we have nothing to celebrate but want to eat exceptionally delicious food in picturesque IJsselstein.

Hoe vaak maak je het mee dat je bij binnenkomst met je naam wordt verwelkomd? Het is inderdaad klein, maar dat maakte het juist extra gezellig en sfeervol. Het eten was ook geweldig. Een échte aanrader.

Klein, maar fijn. Prima en bijzonder indisch (uit Celebes) eten. Niet goedkoop, maar het wel waard een wnkele keer. Na afloop nog guitaarmuziek en praatje gemaakt. Goede sfeer.

The perfect spot for an amazing evening! The owners are very welcoming and the eleborate storytelling between each dish makes it feel like you are truly part of the indonesian culture. Besides, the flavors of the dishes and the different sambals were amazing because you can tell a lot of love went into every dish! Sidenote: vegan, vegetarian, and other dietry rescrictions are also catered to when notified in advance. Would definitely come back :)!

Hier krijg je niet een gewoon diner maar een eetbeleving. Gisteravond met z'n vieren een fantastische en zeer smaakvolle ervaring gehad met de minhasa keuken. Mede door de zeer vriendelijke gastheer en gastvrouw. Je krijgt het gevoel bij deze mensen thuis uigenodigd te zijn om te komen eten. Alle gangen werden vol enthousiasme uitgelegd en toegelicht over herkomst, kruidengebruik, enz. En dan ook nog 3 heerlijke sambals op tafel, voor een ieder zijn eigen scherpte. Mijn favoriet de sambal met petehbonen, echt zalig. Wij weten 1 ding heel zeker, wij komen terug!

Wat hebben wij geweldig gegeten hier vanavond! Echt heerlijke gerechten met zoveel smaak. Hele verrassende gerechten. Het vlees is super mals. Ook fijn dat het vlees van dieren af komt die een goed leven gehad hebben en dat het voornamelijk lokaal, maar in ieder geval uit Nederland komt. Het restaurant is klein en heeft een hele huiselijke en intieme sfeer. Erg leuk dat de gastvrouw en kok regelmatig een praatje komen maken aan tafel en je van alles willen vertellen over de gerechten en hun achtergrond. De gastvrouw is een ontzettend lieve en oprechte vrouw. Ik kom hier zeker nog eens terug!

Gisterenavond gegeten met mijn collega's. Super vriendelijk mevrouw en meneer die ontzettend veel liefde en aandacht in hun gerechten hebben gestoken. Uitleg over de gerechten was duidelijk. De verschillende sambals smaakte lekker erbij. Voor herhaling waard.

Klein, maar (daarom) heel intiem en gezellig. Eten authentiek Indonesisch (bij voorkeur hou je van pittig eten, de echte sensatie komt namelijk van de eigen sambals). Gastvrouw heel vriendelijk en attent. Kok dito. Je zit niet in een restaurant, maar je bent op visite bij een koppel wat van hun roots/hobby/overtuiging/kennis hun werk hebben gemaakt. Bijzondere ervaring, mooie herinnering. Van harte aanbevolen.

Met vrienden een geweldige tijd gehad in Kings Dish. Hartverwarmende gastvrijheid, heerlijk vers en verzorgd eten . Een intiem restaurant ,wat absoluut aan te bevelen is.

Wat een onwijs leuk, bijzonder en intiem ervaring. Wij zijn buiten begonnen in het zonnetje. Super leuk plekje om te zitten, je hebt heel wat bekijks. Als voorgerecht hadden wij heerlijk vers en zelfgemaakt kroepoek (3soorten) met een frisse salade rijkelijk bedeeld met een overheerlijke “satesaus”. Rosé uit zuid Afrika, precies goed (niet te zoet,niet te droog) Voor ons hoofdgerecht mochten wij naar binnen. In totaal inclusief wij zelf zaten er 4 stelletjes (super knus) Restaurantje is heel huiselijk en warm aangekleed! Je wordt ontzettend vriendelijk en zeer persoonlijk bediend door de eigenaren. Alles wordt verteld over wat je voorgeschoteld krijgt en je merkt en proeft dat dit echt met veel liefde is bereidt. Persoonlijk heb ik zelden zo smaakvol gegeten als hier! Porties zijn ook goed afgemeten. Toetje wederom zo vers en smaakvol. Wij zijn vertrokken met veel energie doordat alles zo naar wens is geweest. Echt een aanrader. Dank je wel dat jullie je passie met ons wil delen!
