My teenager and I stumbled upon this charming, quiet restaurant and... we really enjoyed it! :D The food was truly refined and delicious, and the servers were very friendly and attentive. The prices were in line with the quality of the food. Thanks again to the team!

Great food, Great vibes. Ordered their “Vitello Tonnato”, Spaghetti aglio e olio, Ragù di carne, and “Fileto al Pepe” . Each delicious, we left our plates clean. Our camera was eating well too. The restaurants lovely interior and exterior made for a romantic experience surrounded by greenery. Definetly worth the visit.

Staying in a hotel nearby, so came here for the convenience. Everything was just about average, except for the high price. The restaurant itself if beautiful inside and out. The service was ok, but not great. Long wait to be served, with no real care or concern from the staff. We were offered an English language menu when the staff saw us struggling with Google Translate, which was appreciated and unexpected. I have no issue with trying to figure out the local language. However the English menu never arrived. The staff also didn’t seem bothered if we were enjoying the food. The food was average. My lasagne tasted a bit bland, and my partners Chicken Milanese was tough and chewy. If it had been 30% cheaper, I wouldn’t have minded. But €30 for a thin, chewy, tough bit of chicken, a couple of slices of potato and cold vegetables was a lot. There was also a a very annoying strobe light flashing inside which was very distracting.

A really beautiful place in terms of interior and a nice terrace. But the service is truly terrible. We were with a large group and very little attention was paid to us. We constantly had to ask if we could still order and waited a very long time for our food. A shame!

We ordered a pizza and a calzone. The prices were very high, but the quality of the food was rather poor. The restaurant wasn't very full when we visited, and it took a very long time before someone cleared our table. We weren't asked if everything was okay or if we wanted anything else to drink. There was no drinks menu for soft drinks or anything like that, only another expensive wine list. Unfortunately, you don't feel like a proper guest there.

We came for dinner the day we landed in Amsterdam. It absolutely beautiful inside and the authentic Italian food is outstanding. We went again earlier tonight for dessert. The Tiramisu was the best I've ever had and my husband melted over the Chocolate Lava Cake. Hope to go one more time before we live. Highly recommend.

Staff were very nice, helpful, and friendly. The owner came to our table multiple times to check if everything was okay and whether we were satisfied, which was very thoughtful. It’s the small details that really count. When we started smoking, the waiter immediately brought us an ashtray. The scroppino cocktail was made at the table by Michael, which was amazing, and we even received a nice limoncello from the house afterwards. Thank you, guys!

Today was the 3rd time that I ate at this restaurant and, unfortunately, the last. TL;DR - Alive snail on the pizza, no apologies, no courtesy. We arrived a few minutes past 21:00 and were shown to a table that still had glasses on it and the tablecloth was stained from the previous guests. The waiter only brought two fresh glasses for the four of us, because he didn't realize that the two glasses on the table are from the previous guests. Honest mistake, moving on. We proceeded to order 4 pizzas. One of the pizzas was ordered without tomato sauce (white sauce instead). It arrived with tomato sauce and, additionally, with a small snail on one of the rucola leaves, alive and happily munching away. We pointed it out to the waiter and asked for the correct pizza - white sauce, no snail. This is where it gets interesting. The waiter showed the pizza with the snail to the lady in the blue jacket, presumably the head of staff (?). She put on her glasses and carefully examined the unannounced guest on the pizza and...that was that! At no point after the mishap did anyone come to talk or apologize to us. Quite the opposite. When the correct and snail-free pizza was brought to the table by the waiter, all we got was "is it okay now"? After we were almost done eating, a man showed up to ask how the food is. He looked like the owner of the establishment. We replied that the food was good, other than "the little incident". "What incident?", the man asked. "The snail on the pizza!", we replied. "Aah that was you!", he said and joked about how he himself ended up eating that pizza. He then proceeded to ramble about how the kitchen follows a very rigorous protocol on how to treat vegetables and how despite all that, mistakes are "inevitable". In stark contrast to the owners behavior, the young waiter that came for the bill, immediately apologized and asked if he could bring anything on the house. We politely declined. Treating your guests in this arrogant and completely out of touch manner, after serving them food with a snail on it, is just bizzare to me. Yes, mistakes happen. Yes, it's a snail and not a cockroach. But if you aren't able to muster the courage to apologize, why come to the table? I'm perplexed. Show some respect and basic decency. You must hold yourself to a higher standard if you're in the business of feeding people.

This is the fourth time I've been here now! I live next to the restaurant, so it's always nice to stop by. The food was delicious once again! Unfortunately, the service was really poor today… It took 4 hours for 3 courses, we sat for an hour without drinks, and we didn't receive our food at the same time. Very disappointing, because the service is normally good. On top of that, we never received our coffees, even though we paid for them… Luckily, we were served for dessert by a very attentive young man! Normally one of my favorite restaurants and something I always recommend to people, but unfortunately, today was different…

DISAPPOINTED AND SHOCKED I don't know La Contessa like this! Unfortunately, our experience was anything but pleasant. We had made a reservation for 4 adults and 1 child, but did NOT feel welcome. Upon entering, we were greeted politely by the waiter and escorted to our table. Shortly afterward, a lady in a blue jacket arrived — according to the waiter, “the boss.” Unfortunately, her attitude was anything but friendly. In an ill-mannered manner, she pointed us to another spot, forcing the fifth person — a 5-year-old child — to “squeeze” between two adults, even though the reservation was clearly made for 5 people. Three-quarters of the restaurant was still empty! And there was no other option??? The waiter also indicated that this was her decision. From that moment on, we got the strong feeling that we were not welcome. That feeling arose not only from what was said, but primarily from her non-verbal attitude, gaze, and tone. I find it especially regrettable because I have been actively recommending this restaurant to large groups and companies for over a year. I will not do that again from now on. Maybe it wasn't anything personal, but sometimes you just feel when you are being treated DIFFERENTLY. Was it the headscarf? The Uggs? My child? My religion? Or my skin color? I can't prove it, but the feeling we got was very unpleasant! What a shame!

The price-quality ratio is severely lacking. The Calzone was half filled and the other half dough. Our dessert came with cheap sprayed cream. The high prices create different expectations.

Me and my friend came here as we were staying at the Nui fender hotel and everything about it was exceptional, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, the food was incredible, the service, the atmosphere, the decor, stunning restaurant and lovely food and people. 10/10!

Visited here by invitation, highly recommended! A bit hidden away on Cruqius, you can enjoy delicious food and a lovely ambiance here. You shouldn't be in a rush; dining here is an experience meant to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Very fine dishes and good wine, everything is perfectly in order. Plenty of room to celebrate birthdays, for example, which was happening all around us. Because of the spacious room, you don't notice it; everyone can have their own party. I will definitely come back here again, thanks everyone!

We visited La Contessa last Saturday. A friendly welcome and very personal service, though not overdone. We had a delicious meal; Tris di Bruchetta for starters, and for main courses we had the Melanzana alla Parmigiana and Filetto al Pepe. Both are highly recommended, good portions. We really enjoyed ourselves. Nice wine to go with it, and upon leaving we received a "goodie bag" with breadsticks designed to help people quit smoking. Very thoughtful. In short, we had a wonderful evening.

My experience at La Contessa in Amsterdam was, unfortunately, utterly disappointing. For a restaurant that bills itself as Italian, you expect passion, freshness, and craftsmanship—but that was completely lacking. We started with the antipasto misto for €39.50. That price raises expectations, but what we received seemed to have come straight from the refrigerator: everything was ice cold and clearly pre-prepared. For that price, you expect freshly cut produce at room temperature, carefully presented. This felt like expensive, soup-kitchen quality. The pasta carbonara was simply inedible. The flavor was off, and the dish lacked any finesse. When I confronted the waiter about this, he responded, "You should have told me sooner," and then walked away without further ado. No apology, no attempt at rectification—that speaks volumes about the service culture. The fish dish was no better: it tasted bland and dry, almost cardboard-like. The potatoes were heavy and soaked in grease, which made the whole thing even more unpleasant. What's particularly striking is the complete lack of passion for Italian cuisine. Where you expect warmth, simplicity, and quality, you taste a sense of laziness here. The price-quality ratio is lacking. For anyone looking for authentic Italian food in Amsterdam, I wouldn't book here again.

The place is amazing! We ordered seven different types of pizza as a group. I'll be honest, it was the best and most delicious pizza we've ever had. All appreciation to your chef for his efforts. I went here with my partner on Valentine's Day. We wanted to choose something from the menu, but that wasn't possible because apparently, a Valentine's Day menu had been selected. You could choose from three main courses, and the starter and dessert were pre-determined. We asked if we could order something from the menu, but a man who looked like the owner said "no" and immediately walked on. There was no mention of a pre-determined menu on our reservation. It was also a pricey menu, which was a shame since we didn't choose our own dishes. A real shame about the experience.

Last weekend, I went to La Contessa for my girlfriend's birthday. We had a very large group (20 people). Everything was well organized; the table was beautifully set, the food arrived on time, and we were even able to bring our own cake. Knowing that the spirit and continuity of Pepenero had been preserved was such a joy. Our dinner, as always with Marco and his team, was a true success. We had a fantastic Sunday lunch here. It wasn't busy, but you don't feel lost in this rather large restaurant. The decor is very atmospheric. The Italian service is attentive and very friendly. Excellent primi, for example, the vitello tonnato with the very best meat. The pastas are a feast for the eyes and a delight for the palate. Carbonaro as it should be. After the tiramisu, wow-wow-wow, you're glad you could park right outside.

This was one of the worst services I have ever encountered. I booked the restaurant for my birthday for 13 people and got a set menu. However, 5 people cancelled last minute (3 hours before) and I let them know about this asap and made the reservation for 9 people. When we went there 2 people could not show up but they still made us pay for 9 people per person even though we were 7. They also did not bring the ice cream that was in the set menu and when we told this no one really did anything about it. When we wanted to order something we had to ask 3 times and had to wait more than 30 mins. The service was very slow, the table cloth was not being cleaned and we had to ask for the rounds to come , they were not doing this by themselves which was very unprofessional. The food was alright but because of the service and attitude I would never go here again. Lastly, because that we were going to be a big group I called the place and asked beforehand if we could pay separately and they said yes if you can come up to the register however we were asked if we could do it in one payment when we asked for the bill.

Julian, you've only been working here for three months, but you were fantastic. You kept a close eye on everything, and when I needed you, you were there right away. Great guy, man, thank you. What a wonderful experience at La Contessa in Amsterdam! As soon as you walk in, you immediately feel that this is a special restaurant with high standards. The service was excellent and truly left nothing to be desired. Even our coats were politely taken, and we were given cloakroom tokens, which was a nice extra touch. For our starter, we enjoyed a delicious vitello tonnato, made with excellent quality meat. Our son had a salami pizza, thin, crispy, and perfectly cooked – just as it should be. For the main course, my husband chose the tenderloin with pepper sauce, and I had the breaded chicken with potatoes and vegetables. Both dishes were truly fantastic – you can taste the great attention they pay to quality and fresh ingredients. The service also deserves a big compliment. The staff is friendly, attentive, and seems to anticipate every request immediately. To finish, we enjoyed a tiramisu and a delicious ice cream from the on-site gelateria – the perfect ending to a perfect evening. In short: La Contessa is highly recommended. The only consistent thing about this restaurant is the unfriendly and arrogant staff. It's a shame because the food is quite good but overpriced. The worst part was a plate that was snatched away from under my girlfriend's nose because the staff had served it wrong after she took a bite, and then served it to another guest. My girlfriend had to quickly choose something else and ate alone. We received no apology or compensation. We will never eat here again.

Because they use a QR code system, it's not always clear when to answer. Nevertheless, the food was truly excellent, there's a nice atmosphere, and the service is very friendly.

The place is beautiful, so everything else should be good to perfect. Upon arrival, no one told us the menu was available via a QR code; we waited 15 minutes, assuming they would bring it to us. When we asked the waiter—because no one came to us—we discovered we had to scan it. Ordering drinks was quick, but the food took 45 minutes from the time we arrived, after having to ask the waiter three times to take our order. Then it took 20 minutes for the appetizers to arrive, and a total of two hours for the main courses to arrive. This wait time is excessive. I'm a restaurant owner myself and understand how service should be. For my 3-year-old son, I ordered spaghetti with shrimp, without any spicy seasoning. To our surprise, the dish was still spicy. He could only take one bite and burned his mouth. We just wanted to eat quickly and leave. When I asked for the bill, they charged me for two bottles of water, even though I'd only ordered one. No one ever came to ask if we wanted a drink or if the food was to our liking. The service was poor for such a beautiful place. There's a lack of management and, above all, a lack of speed in the kitchen, even though there were four people working in a half-full restaurant.

First of all, I arrived thirsty and ordered sparkling water. The moment they poured my glass, an insect decided to take a dive into my drink. Considering that a large bottle only serves about three glasses, one was now ruined. I informed the waiter, expecting a fresh bottle. But no—they simply changed the glass, as if that could erase the memory of the bug floating in it. I came to eat, not to chase pests. I let it slide and ordered pasta aglio e olio with shrimp and chili flakes. Big mistake. The spiciness was so extreme it obliterated any flavor, made my eyes water, and set my mouth on fire. I begged for milk or something to calm the burn, but their “solution” was to pour cream on top and return the same dish, now a greasy shadow of what it should have been. To finish, I ordered panna cotta. I expected something smooth and sweet; instead, I got a lackluster 4/10—bland, joyless, as if it, too, had lost the will to live. I thought my ordeal ended there, but no. Three or four hours later, back home, the nausea began. I vomited—once, twice, three times… and today, a day later, I’m still at it, my body exhausted and my suspicion growing that this wasn’t just bad luck, but food poisoning. An unforgettable memory, not for its quality, but for how it burned itself into me with fire and disgust.

La Contessa… Always a pleasure to dine here. Relaxed yet refined atmosphere. A bit of nature and history in the city. Wonderful food. No matter what you choose: antipasti, pasta, pizza, secondi piatti (meat, fish, vegetarian), you won’t be disappointed. The wine menu is relatively small but the choices are varied and refreshing. Not only your classical choices but a good selection of lesser known wines from different regions of Italy. I have not had a bad bottle so far. We enjoy lunch here on a regular basis. The owners and staff are friendly and make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in the door. It is a very nice place to meet friends and family while enjoying la dolce vita. Talking about I dolci, the sgroppino is fabulous and I can assure you the apple crumble is worth the trip. We will certainly return here.

The restaurant has a very atmospheric atmosphere, and the terrace is lovely. Whether you're inside or outside, you don't even know you're in the city. The service is always great! Upscale restaurant They simply put out a bread basket, plain, without any dip, for €5.50. Prices are very high. The food is okay, but there's plenty of room for improvement. Service is nonexistent. Here, you get the feeling that the guest is somehow disturbing you.

Spectacular place both outside and inside. At the entrance, the owners welcome you with a smile that accompanied me throughout the evening. Being pregnant, I found the quality of the products to be very high. Furthermore, I was advised by the chef in the best way on what to eat. In short, I spent a memorable evening accompanied by excellent food, good drinks and the kindness of all the staff.

In the middle of dinner we wanted to move from the terrace to the inside of the restaurant (it started raining). But the hostess refused us and offered to sit at the bar, despite the fact that half of the tables were empty. She indicated that we would only drink, although we were in the middle of the dinner and planned to finish with desserts. So weird. We felt also a passive aggression in her words, such as the sarcastic "no darling”

Fantastic. Very good pizza and a very nice atmosphere. I highly recommend it.

Actually, a nice restaurant in a pleasant setting. The food is quite good. But the service is abysmal. All guests are greeted by the chef and brought to their tables. Some guests are served only by the chef (couples), while families are served by the rest of the staff. But you can't take orders when you're always greeting guests. The first glass of wine arrived after 20 minutes. Placed my order after 45 minutes, after asking several times. The starter came pretty quickly. 2.5 hours after arriving and about 1.25 hours after the starter, the main course arrived. The red wine bottle was empty, and my appetite for food was gone. Even the two glasses of wine on the house didn't help. We left two half-full plates and left as quickly as possible. When paying, we were asked if we enjoyed our meal. The chef doesn't know his wine list. And the white wine was warm.

Horrible Italian food. One of the worse pizzas I have eaten. I don’t know how this place gets this rating. The service staff had no manners not friendly and poor service level. Maybe I am used to places like Dubai or the far east where service is exceptionally good and friendly

The restaurant is nicely decorated and the food is fine. A bit on the high side. Would have liked to give 4 stars, but everything took a very long time because the service never noticed us. Too bad.

A bit of a bizarre experience this time. We turned up at 17:00 on a Sunday. There were people eating and drinking outside. The website stated open from 12:00-Late. We stood in the entrance for a while and someone came over to tell us that they were not open for another 30mins as all staff were on a break. So we’re at Krux having a drink instead… I’d score a one star for that experience but as we’ve had lovely food there previously I’ve scored neutral.

My friends and I had a pizza. I have never seen a pizza like this in my life, in terms of taste and the wonderful view. Many thanks to the person who cooked the pizza. The taste of this pizza and its wonderful view have entered our hearts. We will come again soon to eat pizza. My greetings to your wonderful restaurant.💕👍👌👌👌

Beautiful restaurant! The food is tasty, but the price is high. Service is Mediterranean slow, you can like that ;) They may sometimes remove the dust nests.

Highly recommended if you like: - Having to wait 40 minutes for the wine and then getting the wrong one - Having to ask 10 times for cutlery and glasses - 60 euros to be paid in advance, which will then not be deducted from your receipt - Seeing a bottle of wine on your bill that you never ordered

We came here for a birthday party and it was super nice! Spacious and delicious food with decent prices. Their wine selection was also nice. We got the truffle pasta which was amazing, highly recommend
