Last weekend, I went to La Contessa for my girlfriend's birthday. We had a very large group (20 people). Everything was well organized; the table was beautifully set, the food arrived on time, and we were even able to bring our own cake. The waiter was very helpful in choosing the best appetizers for everyone, and he even cut and served our cake. Fantastic!

Knowing that the spirit and continuity of Pepenero had been preserved was such a joy. Our dinner, as always with Marco and his team, was a true success. The warm, family-like kindness of the staff deserves special mention : genuine, attentive, and welcoming in the most natural way. The food perfectly reflects the excellence of Italian cuisine: fresh pasta, high-quality Italian charcuterie, excellent wines, homemade liqueurs… everything prepared with care, authenticity, and passion. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The architecture and design combine a romantic high wooden ceiling with natural touches throughout the space. Comfortable tables make it equally perfect for a romantic dinner or a warm moment with family and friends. We ate here last weekend and were super impressed! Upon arrival, our coats were immediately taken and hung up for us. Then we were shown to our table. The atmosphere was truly fantastic! They had also decorated beautifully for Christmas. The service was good, although it sometimes took a while to get someone's attention. The food was absolutely amazing. But the best part of the entire evening was the tiramisu! It was so incredibly delicious. We will definitely be back :)

We had a fantastic Sunday lunch here. It wasn't busy, but you don't feel lost in this rather large restaurant. The decor is very atmospheric. The Italian service is attentive and very friendly. Excellent primi, for example, the vitello tonnato with the very best meat. The pastas are a feast for the eyes and a delight for the palate. Carbonaro as it should be. After the tiramisu, wow-wow-wow, you're glad you could park right outside.

Ate here for the third time, as an Italian connoisseur. Everything was perfect, including the menu, wine list, and service. Beautiful restaurant. I think the 4.0 rating is ridiculously low. It should be 4.7+.

Last Saturday, my family and I dined at La Contessa. I'm always curious about restaurants that have a lot of potential but don't always get good reviews. So we went. The ambiance was beautiful, and the benches were incredibly comfortable. The service was very friendly and patient. The host, Marco, is very kind and welcoming. The food was delicious. My son even finished the pizza crust. The pasta with truffle... mmm, the lamb chops were also delicious. Everything was perfect. We'll definitely be back!

It was my first visit. I had a super experience. Great food and efficient service even if there was a lot of client (Friday evening is super busy) I took the sea food pasta. It was fresh and tasty. Real Italian food.

This was one of the worst services I have ever encountered. I booked the restaurant for my birthday for 13 people and got a set menu. However, 5 people cancelled last minute (3 hours before) and I let them know about this asap and made the reservation for 9 people. When we went there 2 people could not show up but they still made us pay for 9 people per person even though we were 7. They also did not bring the ice cream that was in the set menu and when we told this no one really did anything about it. When we wanted to order something we had to ask 3 times and had to wait more than 30 mins. The service was very slow, the table cloth was not being cleaned and we had to ask for the rounds to come , they were not doing this by themselves which was very unprofessional. The food was alright but because of the service and attitude I would never go here again. Lastly, because that we were going to be a big group I called the place and asked beforehand if we could pay separately and they said yes if you can come up to the register however we were asked if we could do it in one payment when we asked for the bill.

I took my date to La Contessa. What a fantastic place! The space was great, and we could hear each other clearly, while the music was pumping. The food was amazing, and the service was superb. Julian, you've only been working here for three months, but you were fantastic. You kept a close eye on everything, and when I needed you, you were there right away. Great guy, man, thank you. What a wonderful experience at La Contessa in Amsterdam! As soon as you walk in, you immediately feel that this is a special restaurant with high standards. The decor is beautiful – stylish, warm, and meticulously maintained – and the soothing jazz music in the background creates a relaxing atmosphere. We received a warm and friendly welcome. The service was excellent and truly left nothing to be desired. Even our coats were politely taken, and we were given cloakroom tokens, which was a nice extra touch. For our starter, we enjoyed a delicious vitello tonnato, made with excellent quality meat. Our son had a salami pizza, thin, crispy, and perfectly cooked – just as it should be. For the main course, my husband chose the tenderloin with pepper sauce, and I had the breaded chicken with potatoes and vegetables. Both dishes were truly fantastic – you can taste the great attention they pay to quality and fresh ingredients. The service also deserves a big compliment. The staff is friendly, attentive, and seems to anticipate every request immediately. To finish, we enjoyed a tiramisu and a delicious ice cream from the on-site gelateria – the perfect ending to a perfect evening. In short: La Contessa is highly recommended. A beautiful location, excellent food, top-notch service, and an atmosphere that makes for an unforgettable evening. We'll definitely be back!

The only consistent thing about this restaurant is the unfriendly and arrogant staff. It's a shame because the food is quite good but overpriced. The worst part was a plate that was snatched away from under my girlfriend's nose because the staff had served it wrong after she took a bite, and then served it to another guest. My girlfriend had to quickly choose something else and ate alone. We received no apology or compensation. We will never eat here again.

The place is beautiful, so everything else should be good to perfect. Upon arrival, no one told us the menu was available via a QR code; we waited 15 minutes, assuming they would bring it to us. When we asked the waiter—because no one came to us—we discovered we had to scan it. Ordering drinks was quick, but the food took 45 minutes from the time we arrived, after having to ask the waiter three times to take our order. Then it took 20 minutes for the appetizers to arrive, and a total of two hours for the main courses to arrive. This wait time is excessive. I'm a restaurant owner myself and understand how service should be. For my 3-year-old son, I ordered spaghetti with shrimp, without any spicy seasoning. To our surprise, the dish was still spicy. He could only take one bite and burned his mouth. We just wanted to eat quickly and leave. When I asked for the bill, they charged me for two bottles of water, even though I'd only ordered one. No one ever came to ask if we wanted a drink or if the food was to our liking. The service was poor for such a beautiful place. There's a lack of management and, above all, a lack of speed in the kitchen, even though there were four people working in a half-full restaurant.

First of all, I arrived thirsty and ordered sparkling water. The moment they poured my glass, an insect decided to take a dive into my drink. Considering that a large bottle only serves about three glasses, one was now ruined. I informed the waiter, expecting a fresh bottle. But no—they simply changed the glass, as if that could erase the memory of the bug floating in it. I came to eat, not to chase pests. I let it slide and ordered pasta aglio e olio with shrimp and chili flakes. Big mistake. The spiciness was so extreme it obliterated any flavor, made my eyes water, and set my mouth on fire. I begged for milk or something to calm the burn, but their “solution” was to pour cream on top and return the same dish, now a greasy shadow of what it should have been. To finish, I ordered panna cotta. I expected something smooth and sweet; instead, I got a lackluster 4/10—bland, joyless, as if it, too, had lost the will to live. I thought my ordeal ended there, but no. Three or four hours later, back home, the nausea began. I vomited—once, twice, three times… and today, a day later, I’m still at it, my body exhausted and my suspicion growing that this wasn’t just bad luck, but food poisoning. An unforgettable memory, not for its quality, but for how it burned itself into me with fire and disgust.

I haven’t experienced such poor service in a long time—it truly takes effort to be this bad. I was genuinely impressed by our waiter’s arrogance and rudeness. The food was quite bad. The pasta was overcooked and doughy, got nauseous 🤢 —completely inedible. Such a shame to see a lovely atmosphere wasted.

La Contessa… Always a pleasure to dine here. Relaxed yet refined atmosphere. A bit of nature and history in the city. Wonderful food. No matter what you choose: antipasti, pasta, pizza, secondi piatti (meat, fish, vegetarian), you won’t be disappointed. The wine menu is relatively small but the choices are varied and refreshing. Not only your classical choices but a good selection of lesser known wines from different regions of Italy. I have not had a bad bottle so far. We enjoy lunch here on a regular basis. The owners and staff are friendly and make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in the door. It is a very nice place to meet friends and family while enjoying la dolce vita. Talking about I dolci, the sgroppino is fabulous and I can assure you the apple crumble is worth the trip. We will certainly return here.

We usually eat here with our daughter! The food is always fantastic! Luckily, you can order a starter, main course, or dessert because it's always hard to choose, everything is delicious. The restaurant has a very atmospheric atmosphere, and the terrace is lovely. Whether you're inside or outside, you don't even know you're in the city. The service is always great! Upscale restaurant They simply put out a bread basket, plain, without any dip, for €5.50. Prices are very high. The food is okay, but there's plenty of room for improvement. Service is nonexistent. Here, you get the feeling that the guest is somehow disturbing you.

Spectacular place both outside and inside. At the entrance, the owners welcome you with a smile that accompanied me throughout the evening. Being pregnant, I found the quality of the products to be very high. Furthermore, I was advised by the chef in the best way on what to eat. In short, I spent a memorable evening accompanied by excellent food, good drinks and the kindness of all the staff.

Nice atmosphere, beautiful restaurant. Pizza was not bad, lasagne was also ok , but I've eaten better ones. In the middle of dinner we wanted to move from the terrace to the inside of the restaurant (it started raining). But the hostess refused us and offered to sit at the bar, despite the fact that half of the tables were empty. She indicated that we would only drink, although we were in the middle of the dinner and planned to finish with desserts. So weird. We felt also a passive aggression in her words, such as the sarcastic "no darling”

Actually, a nice restaurant in a pleasant setting. The food is quite good. But the service is abysmal. All guests are greeted by the chef and brought to their tables. Some guests are served only by the chef (couples), while families are served by the rest of the staff. But you can't take orders when you're always greeting guests. The first glass of wine arrived after 20 minutes. Placed my order after 45 minutes, after asking several times. The starter came pretty quickly. 2.5 hours after arriving and about 1.25 hours after the starter, the main course arrived. The red wine bottle was empty, and my appetite for food was gone. Even the two glasses of wine on the house didn't help. We left two half-full plates and left as quickly as possible. When paying, we were asked if we enjoyed our meal. The chef doesn't know his wine list. And the white wine was warm.

Horrible Italian food. One of the worse pizzas I have eaten. I don’t know how this place gets this rating. The service staff had no manners not friendly and poor service level. Maybe I am used to places like Dubai or the far east where service is exceptionally good and friendly

A bit of a bizarre experience this time. We turned up at 17:00 on a Sunday. There were people eating and drinking outside. The website stated open from 12:00-Late. We stood in the entrance for a while and someone came over to tell us that they were not open for another 30mins as all staff were on a break. So we’re at Krux having a drink instead… I’d score a one star for that experience but as we’ve had lovely food there previously I’ve scored neutral.

What a great restaurant! I have eaten here several times and always feel very welcome. You are always greeted politely upon entering, and reservations are always well arranged. Your coat will be accepted at the entrance and you will receive a card for it. And then you are neatly brought to your table. The staff at the table is extremely customer friendly and often comes to check whether you want anything or whether you are still okay. The food is really of good quality. Pizzas are absolutely delicious, vitello tonato is also delicious, but my favorite is the truffle pasta. You really notice that it is a “real” Italian restaurant and the restaurant delivers good quality in all areas. Highly recommended for a meal!

We got a pasta for the baby in 1,5 hour (!). Could you imagine a toddler that will wait 1,5 hours for their food? All you need to know about the service in this place.

Contessa is an amazing restaurant with super friendly staff. You can taste the traditional Italian cuisine here. Caponato is my favorite dish on the menu. On Friday there is also a DJ, good start for the weekend! 🥳

The wine was excellent and so was the water. But the food was really a disaster. Pizza that was so thin it just looked like porridge. And the staff can also take a hospitality course with Van de Maas.

Food was okay. First a very tasty Vitello followed by a Branzino as a main that was quite dry. The absolute mockery is definitely in the controls. The entrance to the building is barely visible and we did not feel welcome even after entering. This is mainly due to the very unsympathetic hostess who only has an eye for high bobo content. The starter was on the table within 5 minutes and then we waited for more than 45 minutes with empty plates and glasses until someone noticed us. Via colleague 'X', Madame came to take stock of the situation with pain and difficulty, but instead of an apology or form of understanding, we had to quickly report what we would like to eat. In short; a business with potential, but not much will come of it with this hostess, which is a shame!

The food is okay, not too special if you order vegetarian dishes. But the wait.. we arrived at 18.30, and after 3 waiters asked if we wanted a bottle of water, none of it came until we asked for it (and even then it came 30 mins later). It was completely understaffed, which made it very difficult for us to get a hold on a waiter. Once we did, it took a very long time for our food to come. There is no non-alcoholic drinks (except for mocktails) on the menu, so if you order something else you just have to guess if it's there (the waiters can't help you out if you ask for a tea or the soda options). The music is quite loud, so you have to raise your volume to speak with your accompanied guest, which is fine but leads to a dry throat and with it being difficult to grab a waiter to order a drink, it becomes quite annoying. Even asking for the bill took a very long time, which isn't odd if the place is understaffed. We felt sorry for them and ourselves as well, as did some guests next to us who started to complain about the slow service as well. I wouldn't recommend to go all the way to Cruquiuseiland for this experience.

The value for money is not good we believe. We had a reservation, our table was not ready but they took care of it fast. The signature pizza was not something special and carbonara for was bad. Truffle pasta was great! Desserts also not great. Profiteroles served with strawberry syrup and full of whipped cream. Quite expensive for what they offer.

We had to wait too long before we could get a table. Despite our reservation. The atmosphere was great and the location was beautiful. The operation; it also took a long time for the food to be served. The people were very friendly. And the food is certainly delicious. Maybe next time I'll go at an earlier time and things will be different.

The pizzas are excellent here. The service and attitude I experienced was below par for me. The owner of this restaurant made a smug and not customer-oriented impression on me. During a dinner, an employee threw red wine on my sweater (a white one, you'll just see :)). This can happen. It then took fifteen minutes until this was switched on and we could continue. I asked if we could get another table but this was not an option. Almost nothing was done to show that it was annoying. I had to ask everything myself. The suggestion was then that I would take my sweater to the dry cleaner myself and then give them the receipt. The simplest way for them. I thought this was too easy. In the end they took the sweater themselves and washed it. On the phone: "Young man, your sweater has never been so clean." Had to chase it down to get it back in my hands after a month only to see that it had shrunk. I have decided to leave it at that because I am done with this company.

La Contessa is a fantastic venue that offers a restaurant, cocktail bar, and even a strip club (with strip teases on Thursday nights in the back room). I’ll definitely return for the next strip show. A big thanks to the waiter who pointed it out—we wouldn’t have found it otherwise!

I had reserved a table for tonight. I called in advance to ask if there was a possibility of a place on the couch. I got an extremely unprofessional lady on the phone. From answering with “yes, hello” to the end of the conversation. Irritated tone, not customer friendly, not welcoming and absolutely not professional. When I said that I did not like the conversation, she became even more verbally unpleasant with statements such as “then you should not come”. I had to cancel the dinner. Too bad these people represent the restaurant. If conversations are recorded, the owner must listen to this conversation again. I've never experienced this before. Kindness is the basis. Feedback for the owner.

Nice place with intolerable staff. The young girl who served us gave us a dirty look for asking for water (now it's a sin to be teetotal). When we asked for pizza he told us no. He gave us an explanation in English that we didn't quite understand. It was only 6:30 p.m. We ask, then, for a little time to look at the letter again. Twenty minutes later he still hadn't returned to order. He had made all the tables that came after and forgot about us while he was calmly at the bar. Pizza continued to come out on the tables. The starters were okay, not special but not bad either The main courses were bad, the fish was very dry and the pasta was mealy The desserts were not good, the tiramisu was limp and the cake was not good. Anyway, you can still accept this if the service and hygiene are good, but unfortunately it was not. Received dirty cutlery several times (how do you manage to give dirty cutlery again after you have received cutlery back for reasons of hygiene?) The service was also not good, in addition to the fact that there are few people (understandable in these times), the servers are also not sharp. When they finally come to your table, they don't clear anything away, but they walk away empty-handed and then "chill" with each other somewhere at the bar side. Unfortunately not worth repeating...

As always, the food was truly excellent. The portions are perfect, you are not stuffed afterwards, but nice and full. The price-quality ratio is also very good. You definitely get your money's worth, both in terms of food and experience. The waiters, an Italian man with tattoos and an Indian (?) waiter, are extremely friendly and professional and make the experience complete. Chapeau to the chefs and waiters. Definitely worth a visit if you want to dine in an attractive restaurant outside the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam.

Very cozy atmosphere and great food, with friendly service!

Food took a long time prepare (1,5 hour), order a tuna steak and it came out grilled on the outside but frozen/semi cold on the inside. Got a really small portion. For 30€ I would have a lot more food at a better quality place, waiter was also really chaotic and didn’t speak english and bad dutch

Beautiful space. Friendly service. They have certainly mastered the Italian classics. Rarely tasted such quality.

Everything here is excellent and just as it should be at an Italian fine dining restaurant.

Lovely atmosphere and the melanzana was delicious.

Pasta was delicious, desserts were average. The place is nice and atmosphere is good. Sadly, we asked to try a wine and our waiter gave us something different without telling us, which we liked and ordered only to find out when we saw the bill that it was the most expensive bottle of white wine in the menu. Sure, it was our responsibility to check the bottle but the place is overpriced enough for this careless mistake to happen.
