La Cubanita Nieuwegein in Stadscentrum

Everything takes way too long! And they use "too busy in the kitchen" as an excuse. I just don't get food because they forgot or it didn't arrive until an hour later.

Good, fast food and there was a very handsome bartender as you can see in the photo, only he didn't have any cassis and he farted when he walked past. But it did smell like roses.

It's a shame that the tapas were often served lukewarm. The bread was bad. The staff is sweet but so clumsy. We have been here quite often with mixed experiences. But never top-notch. A pity.

We had a reservation for Friday, October 17 at 6:00 PM. We were still ordering using the old-fashioned order slips, which were faithfully collected every time, but most of them were delivered very late, and worst of all: almost cold. We are never going here again. The quality of the dishes is poor, but it used to be much better. The staff was very sweet but sometimes clumsy. This formula is going to cost them customers this way.

Had a lovely meal here with my boyfriend! The tapas were very nice, compliments to the staff member who was really very friendly, no idea what her name is but she had a facial piercing and created a very nice atmosphere💓

We have been dining at La Cubanita branches throughout the country for quite a few years now. Usually mainly in Tiel. Unfortunately, we were unable to eat here at our desired time today, so we went to the Nieuwegein branch for the first time. Unfortunately, we had to conclude that the quality of the food here is far below par. My favorites, the prawns in garlic sauce and pil pil, were inedible. I stopped ordering them after having both dishes, afraid of getting sick. Dry prawns that felt anything but fresh to me. The meat in some dishes was dry and tasteless. Many dishes were served lukewarm. Furthermore, it took quite a long time, much longer even than we are used to at other branches. One waitress walked around with plates of dishes stacked three high. We had to wonder how clean the undersides of the plates are before they are placed on a dish. I have never seen this at another branch either. We left after an hour because we were done with it. We simply didn't feel like being served any more dishes while waiting to see if the quality was as good as we are used to from La Cubanita. For the first time in years, it felt like we wasted money at La Cubanita. Normally, when paying the bill, you are asked if everything was to your liking. This time they weren't. And perhaps that is for the best...

We had a tasty meal, but the service and friendliness could sometimes be better.

We had already been to several La Cubanitas, but the one in Nieuwegein is really bad. It started right upon arrival; we had to wait a long time before even a single staff member appeared to show us to a table. Once seated, it turned out that various dishes were broken and the cutlery was still dirty. We were a party of 3 and were given a table for 5, so we could rotate a bit. The serving time was very long, at least 20 minutes per course. The dishes that were supposed to be hot were cold; we pointed this out for at least 8 dishes, but there was no improvement. The service was also a bit lackluster; when settling the bill, they barely asked if everything was to our liking. When the answer was no, it was quite a shock, even though she herself had returned items because they were cold. Strangely enough, it has 10 stars on Social Deal. Absolutely not recommended, and we certainly won't be coming back there.

The food is delicious...plenty of choice...friendly service and a cozy atmosphere

Served for 3 hours, but only got to sit for 1 hour and 45 minutes. The waiter said, "I need the table later." So we had to leave early because they wanted the table. Very disappointing. Not recommended!!

Large tables get priority at this restaurant. Extremely poor service; you wait 20 to 25 minutes for food per round. Tables simply walk away here due to poor service.

Reserved for 17:00, but you aren't served and checked in until 17:10. Then you are told you have 2.5 hours. And at 18:45 you are already being rushed out, even though you are supposed to have another hour. Food is served cold and you have to wait almost half an hour for it. You also have to wait 20 minutes for your drinks. The staff simply comes in way too late. Even though you open at 17:00.

Was first time, had no idea. Noisy athmosphere, waitering, well...Gen-z..I need to get used to it I guess. Food...luke warm...but most of it was tasty though! All in all...I don't know...

A year ago I wrote, "The food is very tasty but sometimes takes a while to arrive." I can tell you that now, a year later, there are 20 to 30 minutes between the dishes we ordered (!) (I'm just typing this while waiting...🙈) that doesn't seem quite right. The service is friendly and quick. The atmosphere is good, but like all La Cubanitas actually, it gets very busy and full quickly. During my last visit, there was a large group (I estimate 40 people); this was really very noisy and even the music was no longer audible. Once outside, we were actually glad to be out of the noise, but nevertheless, we enjoyed the tasty dishes again!

The food is very good. I go back there regularly. The wait for service is too long, although that may be due to a lack of staff, because when they do come, they're friendly. Despite this drawback, I recommend this place.

Tapas is always a fun concept, but I have to say I don't find it very special here! One person already has their dishes while another is still waiting for 15 minutes! You could see the order slips lying all the way to the floor and the place was only half full, so a staff shortage probably has something to do with it too! The food is lukewarm/warm and you could go on like that, but there is definitely room for improvement at this location! Friendly service, but here again, simple things like asking if it was tasty or if it was tasty in between courses! The reception is also a bit meh.

We are familiar with the chain and have visited several branches over the years, but this one really stands out for us. The service was good, the dishes were just right and very tasty. It seemed like more attention had been paid to them than usual! We will definitely come back here again; lovely La Cubanita! Particularly spacious restroom for the ladies and everything looked hygienic and fresh. Parking nearby is tricky; it is quite a walk from the parking garage (not a problem for us). We were also there during a promotional month and received free amusement park tickets: great! Ordering is easy via an app.

What a shitty mess. Cold food, waiting at least 45 minutes for food. Waiting at least 25 minutes for drinks. And thinking they can get away with an excuse, too bad you can't give 0 stars.

Nice and close to the De Kom theatre. However, time was too tight; the ordered tapas were not always served at the same time, meaning one of the four regularly had to wait longer. As a result, there was no time left for dessert either. In short, the stated two hours are too short considering the speed of service. A pity...

Too little staff, several hot tapas were cold, some tapas ordered but never arrived, others arrived in the next round, ordering via QR code which isn't easy, and all that for €24.95 pp without drinks! The staff do their best, it's actually sad that it has to be this way, but unfortunately… we won't be going back :-(

Throughout our entire visit, I (and the rest of our table) were served only 2 dishes at the correct temperature; the rest was cold and, at best, lukewarm. Our table of three, as well as the tables around us, were constantly served dishes that had gone cold. The (understaffed) young ladies working there did their utmost and all worked very hard, but you come to the restaurant for good food, and that was a huge disappointment. We eventually just left, because it was a waste of our time and, despite pointing it out to the waitresses multiple times, there was absolutely no improvement in the temperature of the dishes....

Unfortunately, the staff could not handle the crowds. After 40 minutes, we only received 2 small dishes, and unfortunately, they were cold. We got up and only had to pay for the drinks.

Drinks come very fast, but the food doesn't. After an hour we had 6 small dishes and mentioned it, things went a bit faster then. It was tasty, but we won't be doing this again.

I had heard stories from several friends about a chef who was supposedly the most flexible in all of the Netherlands, so I went on a quest and found Shaquille James Fung-Loy, a true specialist in the kitchen. I saw multiple muscles when he wanted to grab something for me; a real legend. The streets accept him; a pure tapas hooligan since birth. Promote him to manager. I heard that he can flip coins the fastest of all; a real top striker, 10/10. He is also greeted by something like 28 ladies when he gets into his Ferrari after his Sunday shift.

We can be very positive about a number of things; the food is very good, the beer is cold, and the cocktails are worth repeating, both the virgin and adult versions. The staff is friendly and visibly busy trying to please everyone. The bill at the end also pleasantly surprised us! In our opinion, the biggest area for improvement is that it would be nicer if everyone at the table could enjoy the many different dishes at the same time, rather than serving whatever is ready in the kitchen immediately, as is currently the case. Now, whatever is ready arrives at the table, and it can take 5 to 10 minutes before all the dishes for a round are on the table; you don't really enjoy all this delicious food together if you also have dishes that you cannot share. There is also room for improvement regarding details and hygiene; for example, simply throw away a plate with a chipped corner, and be aware that customers can look into the kitchen when they go to the toilet.

I hesitated between 5 and 4 stars .. I found the dessert selection not extensive ..

Unfortunately too crowded, little space, packed like on top of each other, people waiting for their table right in the middle of dining guests, overcooked steak, lukewarm appetizers. A soulless place. On Saturday night, you have to go all out. This wasn't it.

3 times over glasses, very dirty. Very bad chef, got a bad meal. And the fish seemed to still be swimming in grease. I left. And went to the Goya restaurant next door. To continue eating there. I'll never come back here again.

Very bad, made a reservation and still couldn't find a table. We received confirmation via email. We were finally seated, but after a few minutes, they asked if we wanted to sit at a table for 4 with six people. That was never going to fit, so we left.

When you walk in with a reservation, it says "canceled" in their system. You get a table, and once you're there, they ask if you'd like a drink. A sandwich with it, yes, delicious... When someone else arrives, can you get up and sit there? Want to give a table for 4 to 6? Awful! The service and customer focus are truly terrible! Recommended? NO!

It's not very hospitable to mention, when ordering your first drink, that you have to leave after two hours for another reservation. Then, after an hour and a half, you return to your table with your last half hour already started.

Cozy restaurant, good service and tasty dishes.

It's a good thing we were all having a good time together, because you don't have to go here for a culinary journey. La Cubanita will be a regular at Sligro. Heat it up, throw it on a nice plate, and it's just like tapas. If you like tapas, I recommend checking first whether the restaurant is a one-stop shop or a big-box store. Chances are good that the former will have some cooking...

The food is the same as at the other restaurants in this group. Unfortunately, several items were out when we tried to order them. It's a rather noisy restaurant.

Great restaurant. It's small but cozy! The food is excellent, some things better than others. The desserts are really big, so save room for one! The staff is friendly.

The concept is great, the food is good, but it was very noisy in the restaurant. I don't know if anything can be done about that? That would be nice... otherwise, La Cubanita is fantastic.

The food was delicious, but it was quite noisy. We could still hear each other, but we were sitting next to the wall, so we only heard sound from one side. The service was fine, the staff weren't exactly cheerful, but then again, they were 16-year-olds working for a minimum wage. 🙈 The food was okay, but it was really quick and shouldn't have been left in the kitchen any longer. The fries with the stew are highly recommended and very tasty, and overall, everything was a good size portion. For the €100 we spent together, including drinks and a cocktail, it was fine and cozy.

Despite being very busy on Saturday, October 18th, the service was excellent again. The food arrived quickly and was delicious! We love coming here.

Delicious food in a cozy, informal atmosphere. The staff were also very friendly. One point of concern: we discovered that the meatballs on the menu were no longer freshly prepared. It's a shame, as they were disappointing. But despite that, we still had a delicious meal and a pleasant evening!

Bad business! You made a proper reservation, and then manager Jaimy told you the reservation wasn't on file and you could go eat somewhere else.

Worst La Cuba Nita location I've ever been to. We made a reservation for 6:00 PM, but due to traffic, we arrived at 6:03 PM. We made the reservation correctly. It took a while before anyone could help us, but then they seated people at the table meant for us. You'd think, "Okay, it happens, it's busy," but that was perfectly fine. People had to be moved to the correct table, and before we could even sit down, it was already 6:15 PM, after which we had to wait another 10 minutes for the table to be opened. Several rounds were behind, arrived late and cold, or were served incorrectly. But to top it all off, just after we ordered dessert at 7:40 PM, they brought the bill and told us to hurry up, "because we really need the table!!!" They immediately brought the bill and mints. Meanwhile, I'm writing this review now that it's 8:00 PM and we're still waiting for our desserts. Truly terrible service here. They could learn from Utrecht and Woerden.

It was fine. After the menu change, I hadn't been back for a while. Now everything was complete except the sorbet in an ice cream carton. That's ridiculous for such a classy Testo. Cubanita, what's wrong with that? This is simply unacceptable. And if this is an attempt to cut costs, it's simply unacceptable. Otherwise, top-notch.

The food was very poorly discolored pork tenderloin, the carpaccio had a pearly sheen, the Camembert looked like soup and smelled terrible. Broken tapas containers, dirty glass. And you could literally eat off the floor, it was so dirty. In short, you would eat yourself sick!!!

When we first started, things went really well. The food came out quickly, was delicious, and nice and hot. When it got busier later, things didn't go so well. The food was brought out cold and took longer. I think the two people serving the food waited too long before starting to walk. The trays were overflowing. The lady who listened to us tried to resolve the issue quickly. No complaints about the service and friendliness, but later on, the dishes were cold again. The steak cubes, corn, chicken drumsticks, and chicken skewers, in particular, weren't warm. Carpaccio was better than ever. But it should be cold. 😉 Would you try a different location next time?

Last weekend, my friends and I went to La Cubanita in Nieuwegein for dinner! I loved it. The staff are really friendly and hard-working. It can get a bit chaotic at times because it's so busy, but they do everything they can to make sure guests leave with a good experience! A solid 10 from me!

We had a fantastic evening, delicious food, and a great atmosphere. The price-quality ratio is excellent! The evening manager (Liv) was super friendly and helpful, and the concept was clearly explained. We'll definitely be back!

After reading the many reviews of this restaurant, I noticed the following: Some guests find the staff unfriendly and rushed, with no room for understanding. My experience, however, is different. After several visits, I've noticed that the staff always tries their best, even when busy. The speed of service fits the concept of small, quickly served dishes. On one occasion, a dish from my friend, whom I was dining with, was forgotten, but after a polite reminder from my friend to the manager (Liv), this was resolved immediately and professionally. It seems some people forget that restaurant staff are just people too. It's a shame about the negative reviews, because this is truly a top-notch restaurant. I definitely recommend it for the menu selection, the efficient service, and the friendly, hardworking staff!

Good food, almost all the reviews are wrong. The service was good. After a few minutes, we were immediately asked if we wanted something to drink. After that, every time after we finished eating, the dirty plates were immediately cleared away. It's also a bit small inside, which of course makes it cozy and inviting. So in short, Good service. Friendly staff and delicious food.

The food here was always good, but twice now, the food has been cold. Perhaps it's a good idea to avoid serving overflowing trays. Some dishes that are already prepared will then be served cold, which is a real shame; this wasn't the case before.

The food is okay, but the staff wanted to tell us they wanted to close the bar at 9:30 PM, even though they didn't close until 10:30 PM. Not very nice.

The food was delicious, and the all-inclusive concept, including drinks, is very appealing on paper. Unfortunately, the service towards the end of the evening left a lot to be desired. In the last hour and a half before closing time, the staff's priority seemed to shift to cleaning up and preparing for closing, rather than paying attention to the guests. Even though five tables were still occupied, it took 15 minutes for a drink to be brought, for example. At that moment, you feel more like an obstacle than a guest. What was particularly disappointing was the manager's attitude when we kindly pointed something out. Instead of showing understanding, she clearly showed her unwillingness to understand our point of view. She returned with a pedantic remark: "You ordered 7 minutes ago, not 20." An unnecessary response that only made the situation worse. The manager still has a lot to learn when it comes to hospitality and customer focus. It's precisely at times like these that a manager can make a difference—instead, it only made things more awkward. We were invited ourselves this evening and didn't have to pay. If we had been at our own expense, I absolutely would not have accepted this course of action. In short: we had a delicious meal, but the experience at the end of the evening was a major disappointment. Service must be impeccable right up to the very end—guests deserve attention and respect even in the final hour. This is what we pay for.

Sorry, but this was definitely my last resort. I've been there three times now, but each time it was incredibly disappointing. Long waits for service, staff that are completely unfriendly, and food that takes over 25 minutes for two plates per person. In short, I'm done with it. Want to try Cubanita? Find a different location.

Went here for dinner with a friend. We had made a reservation for a quarter to eight. But according to the staff, nothing had come in. Luckily, they still had a table free. But once we were seated, it took quite a while before our drinks were taken. Furthermore, there was no real drinks menu on the table, so we had to wait for that first. We wanted to order online, but that had to be done via something else that was also not mentioned. The food took quite a while before it arrived and when it did, it was already getting lukewarm. And it arrived at the same time with the next rounds. When we got the first dishes, we still had no plates or cutlery. The cutlery was also held at the top, which I personally find unhygienic, but oh well. I will not go back to this branch myself, the food was fine, but I do not recommend it in Nieuwegein. Finally. We started to get really irritated by the fact that the glasses were held at the top (drinking side). My friend tells me and they act like they don't care and continue laughing at the bar. Out of sight of me (they were crouched behind the bar)

Huge improvement since last year. But still not as good as the Amersfoort branch. Have your tummy empty before visiting so you are able to eat a lot!!

Not a good experience… We didn't get almost all of our dishes and what we did get was cold, even though it was supposed to be warm. For us, no more going to this establishment. There was hardly any staff, but the staff that was there was super friendly and solved the situation well!

What a business, staff don't know how to walk, 3 times cold food for me, never again junk

My and my husband were rudely excused from restaurant before we were able to properly seat due to alleged lack of staf, the restaurant however was almost empty and the server didnt seem busy at all. They showed complete lack of interest in the customers, we dont recommend this place, deffinitely not if you want to nicely spend your saturday evening.

Now we have been coming here for 11 years with great pleasure.. but today we were not satisfied.. now I have to say that I work in the catering industry as an assistant manager, but if you stand with your back to the business all evening, something is really going wrong! Runners could not handle it themselves, then you would think that you as a manager would help?! If you remove the ordering of drinks from the app, the intention is to keep an eye on whether people want to order something.. and you do not see that when you stand with your back to the business with your nose in the laptop... if I have to come to the bar as a guest to order and then also have to go to the bar to ask for the bill... something is really going wrong! She will probably be very nice.. but the manager who was there tonight was really bad!.. train her well or look for someone who does understand! Food was cold or lukewarm (but hey, when the bell rings, you only go and get the food after 5 minutes. Then it gets cold!) We could look into the kitchen.. Joggie grabbing in all the containers with his bare hands, shaking hands and then again with the same hand in the container with lettuce.. eating yourself while making someone else's food.. look, if people can look into your kitchen, you have to think about that!

The food was delicious. The service was slow due to fewer waiters. It's worth your money. The only disappointment was the virgin cocktails. Fridays are around 29-30eur. Virgin cocktail is 4.5eur

Great atmosphere, but it remains assembly line work and chaotic. You are welcomed, order your first drink with some bread and spreads. Then it takes at least 30 minutes before you have the bread. Something always goes wrong during the rounds. Or you don't get something, or you get it very late. In general the food is tasty, but it is not really high quality. It's okay and great. Except for the steak tips, they are really tough.

It's lacking the quality the chain originally started with. Not much flavor. Lots of fried dishes. But relatively inexpensive.

I have been to La Cubanita for the 2nd time and this is really the last time for me. In an overcrowded, noisy restaurant you are served a kind of tapas. The first time I was there I thought it was a kind of Spanish chip shop. This time a little less chip shop but this is certainly not tapas. Moreover, not once did an order for me and my table companions come to the table at the same time. Often there was only one eating while the rest were watching. The quality of the 'tapas' is not good. The service staff runs like crazy through the tent to get the dishes on the table. Without looking back the dishes are put on the table and the pleasure radiates from their faces. Not. Ordering is done via your phone so the only human contact was upon entering and when paying where you can thank them for the nice evening. Even when leaving 'La Cubanita' none of the staff reacted when I greeted them and wished them a nice evening. Unfortunately for La Cubanita I will not be coming back.

We had diner here. Straight forward and good. But also nothing special. The service is very young. They could spend some time on instructions how to communicate and handle a customer.

The tapas were generally good, with a varied range of dishes. What we really appreciated was the value for money; it's hard to get unlimited tapas for this price. The service was friendly, although it was a bit difficult at times, especially when clearing our table. We asked nicely, but it took a while before this was arranged. The ordering app works fine, which makes the process smoother than when this is done via paper card. It can sometimes be a bit busy, so reservations are definitely recommended. All in all, a great experience, but there are still some small points for improvement here and there, such as clearing plates more quickly and some more authenticity in the tapas dishes. But definitely worth repeating!

Always pleasant, parking garage nearby and very tasty food and a cozy atmosphere. Good tables, good chairs. This is disappointing, for example, at la cubanita utrecht.

I've always loved tapas. Some tapas are tasty, others you really have to look for on your plate and are difficult to share, which is part of tapas. Don't miss the real authentic tapas dishes. In itself, some tapas are certainly tasty, but it is not innovative. It's quite a wait for a snack that is already finished before the service reaches the kitchen again. This also sometimes seems a bit chaotic or unstructured. If you are really hungry this is not suitable.

Really tasty food, service tries very hard but several times they fail to clear the table, even after we had asked politely. Everything else was tasty, good and worth repeating.

Food is fine, but a few points you should take into account: - If you want to eat without your phone, that is not possible. Ordering must be done via the QR code - if you take the all-in package, which is actively promoted through many cards on your plate and on the table, it turns out that not everything can be ordered with all-in. Some of it is on those many cards, but some is not and that is a shame or actually sad. Next time I'll eat somewhere else.

Beautiful evening with friends, nice staff, delicious food

A bit of everything divided into categories. Order up to max 2 dishes per round per person via your phone. As easy as it gets. Everything was tasty and came within 15mins per round we ordered. The cocktail pitchers are worth trying for the price.

Food fine. Tables really too close together. Toilet very dirty, floor stuck everywhere. We regularly visit other La Cubanita restaurants, but this one is the least. Unfortunately.......and Galia melon with Parsley......no really, don't do that.
