La Place in Prins Alexander

Today, Sunday, November 16, 2025, I decided to dine at La Place with my wife and child. My choice of food was a chicken leg with some fried mushrooms, sweet potato, and fried bell pepper. My daughter had Nick Noodles (kids-friendly). The noodles were served in a glass jar with a lid, and hot water was added at the cash register to finish the dish. My daughter blushed at the first bite. The taste was terribly bland/tasteless and spicy. While the meal was described as kids-friendly, after complaining to the staff, we were told that 🌶️ powder had been added. We expressed our disagreement. In our experience, it's not kid-friendly. We asked if we could have a sausage roll instead of the noodles. They said they didn't want to run a loss. After we explained that the roll was cheaper than the noodles, this wasn't a problem. 🤔 The chicken leg was lukewarm and tasteless.

The toilets are a nightmare, you really don't want to go there.

A spacious place where you can have an excellent lunch, coffee, and delicious pastries. The apple fritters are especially famous and are unbeatable anywhere. It's been a while now, but the apple fritters are still delicious.

Bad experience. We ordered two pizzas that were supposed to arrive within 10 minutes, but after half an hour, we only received one. The second pizza had been used for someone else's forgotten order, and the dough balls were now gone. No alternative was offered, and we had to ask for a refund at the cash register. The pizza we received was mediocre. Remarkably, there were still dough balls in the kitchen when we left.

Considering the number of seats, the breakfast selection is quite limited. There aren't any rolls per se, only pre-filled ones. There are a few more sweets like croissants... but any bakery or supermarket around here offers a wider selection.

I think it's the only place and a good place where you can sit with an outdoor terrace in Alexandrium

The fries were burnt and soaked in oil. The hamburger was edible, but the bun was the cheapest from the supermarket. I don't complain.

Had a great meal during a trip to Rotterdam 😉👊👍🏽

It is located in a shopping center, so after breakfast/lunch you can enjoy some shopping there

We almost always eat here when we visit the mall. The coffee is good, and the food is affordable and delicious. The service is also helpful.

After a long bike ride, it was wonderful to relax on the outdoor terrace with a sandwich and a drink. Excellent service and friendly staff.

I wanted to take photo of the food for salads, and got hugely fireback from a worker in the bacground in a very disrespective way that she even didn't want to talk to me but only dismissing me from the restaurant. I wanted to ask why, but she only kept dismissing me from distance and then her coworker came to tell me that this is not in their policy. When I asked to show me where it indicated I can not do that, then they let me to take the photo. I am not a Youtuber or anything, just wanted to take photo to send to my friend but the staff really needs to learn on how to behave to it's customers.

A quick, healthy lunch? That's possible at La Place. Fancy a long lunch and a quick spot of shopping? That's possible too! In good weather: on the terrace!

In my opinion, La Place is the least successful place in the entire shopping center. The tables are often sticky and clearly not cleaned properly. On my last visit, the cashier unhesitatingly charged me for six drinks, when it was clearly four. A real shame.

I've been here a few times but lately they've failed miserably. I ordered chicken leg (raw, you literally couldn't tear the meat off the bone), pork ham also raw. The last incident was when I asked for cold water in a glass with ginger and lemon. I was given hot water and when I asked for it to be changed, the water was thrown away and I was given tap water. I paid €4 for a glass of tap water. I don't recommend this restaurant

Overall, the food at La Place is fine, but ordering meals is quite disorganized. Furthermore, some of the staff are lacking in friendliness. After waiting over 30 minutes for a simple pizza and inquiring once if it was ready, the staff reacted in a bizarre way. First, it turned out the order had been forgotten, and then I'd been given the wrong pager. Two employees then gave me the cold shoulder when I mentioned this. I watched this scene in astonishment. The staff certainly don't exude any joy or friendliness; it feels more like forced labor. It's a shame, but we'll pass next time. I don't want to be treated this way.

33 euros for soup, a few mushrooms, fried potatoes, a tart, a radler, and orange juice... and it wasn't even good. The potatoes tasted like fish. The soup was so watered down, it tasted like tea. I'll go to McDonald's... a waste of money. You won't see us here again.

I always loved tomato soup, but yesterday it was watery and bland. Definitely not worth €4.75 for a small bowl.

I understand why La Place goes bankrupt so often. You lose a fortune in a self-service restaurant. Cheese rolls aren't baked properly, and both cashiers are equally overly popular with you. If you want to go out onto the patio, you have to open a terribly filthy door to find yourself in a place where birds have shit all over everything and ashtrays are overflowing with cigarette butts. The window coverings are filthy and there are pieces missing from the edges. This was definitely our last visit to this establishment.

Delicious sandwiches but hygiene could be better, dirty tables lots of mess on the floor. There is enough staff walking around so let them check the tables and clean up all those napkins on the floor.

As a La Place fan I really wanted to have lunch here. But unfortunately the experience was rather disappointing. I wanted a salad from the salad bar, normally I take a larger container. But the choice here was certainly not huge :-( About 5 salads if I remember correctly. That's why I took a small container. At the checkout we were helped very friendly by a male employee. What was then a shame, was that all the tables (there were quite a few empty) were dirty. That's why I took a napkin myself and cleaned a table. The salad tasted good otherwise. My partner had 2 sandwiches that he thought were ok, but he thought they were 'quite expensive for what you get'. The low point was the toilet visit, see photo. All in all I thought this La Place was a sad affair. Too bad!

This place is still going strong. The old concept was great... you can tell they changed some things for the worse in general.

La Place Alexandrium, busy around lunch time, good if you want a quick sandwich.

Even something to eat at La Place, it was very busy and the door to a smokers terrace was constantly open, which meant you were in a draft... cashier staff very uninterested, more busy with each other than with the customer... food? Well, a sausage roll can't go wrong... next time somewhere else.

La Place I like to go there for a cup of coffee always delicious pastries, sandwiches or hot bites. At the branches I have visited there is always friendly and helpful staff present.

Nah, not the same as before. I used to go there often for their half chicken especially. But now that half chicken has changed to a chicken leg only. Staff very nice, I would say I won't go there again.

Very cozy restaurant for breakfast and lunch. You get a lot for little money. And the more often you visit the restaurant, the cheaper it becomes. Every time you get something for free from the restaurant. It can be coffee to fully loaded sandwiches of your choice. So I recommend it to everyone.

We had dinner here with 2 friends. The food came quickly, the people were friendly and the food was really delicious. It smelled sooo good that I forgot to take a picture beforehand. Highly recommended. Delicious food for a good price. We will definitely eat here more often. 1 thing: the order screen should indicate whether something is spicy or not. It's great that they are open nice and early and we didn't have to wait until a late lunch.

La Place's concept used to be really good, fresh, organic, home-made, etc. Now it's just not what it used to be, although there are still tasty things such as the pea soup and the cappuccino, both of which I really liked. My mother and I used to be big fans, but my mother now thinks it is an outdated concept. Shame.

Had a small lunch with pumpkin and pea soup, plus tuna sandwiches. Everything was very tasty. Not bad to have lunch here.

About the food, crispy fries, well cooked salmon. Steak is a different story, despite my request, well done, the blood still came out Baked again. overall this place is good, staff is friendly except Shlen. Shlen is unfriendly, rude. I paid twice because of him and when I pointed out his mistake he didn't apologize. money was returned but he could have said sorry. my case is not the only one. Delicious pea soup and sandwich, not cheap, but the quality is excellent

Ordered a portion of satay with fries and atjar. Paid at the cash register but when I picked it up there was only one skewer of satay. I asked where the other 2 were but this was it. A portion usually consists of 3 sticks and is therefore cheaper than the €18 I paid. Now I understand why Hema, which has sold off Lá Place, awards Michelin stars for a food bar, this was my first and last time I went there. The service has no star because there is no service.

I visited this cafe and was extremely disappointed with the service. Shlen made a mistake at the checkout when he took twice as much money from me as he needed. When I noticed this and pointed out the mistake, he did not even apologize or try to somehow correct the situation. This kind of attitude towards customers is unacceptable! This greatly spoiled the impression of the visit. I hope management will pay attention to this approach to service.

Let's start with the services. I placed an order that never arrived. I called and got a rude employee on the line who didn't understand anything. Then I called back and got someone on the line who was distributing during work and who was also on the phone with me. They provided the wrong house number. And now it's the delivery person's fault. Then don't think in terms of solutions at all and just continue dividing tasks during the conversation. You guys need to do a better job. I paid for my food that someone else is now enjoying. In addition, do something about your customer friendliness and think in terms of solutions and not in money.

Paid 20 euros for 2 salmon sandwiches (6-7 euros) a black coffee and a water. Tent doesn't look like much, grim atmosphere with all kinds of damaged chairs and dirty tables. Too bad, after my experience last year with a fresh, well-filled pea soup, I was looking forward to this season. Very disappointing. Indeed made with fresh peas but almost no filling. Bacon is almost impossible to find and sausage is almost impossible to find. And that for €06.- something. Very disappointing!!!!

I give 1 star, they promote salmon sandwich with a drink, which just wasn't made and no sold. There was no alternative either. Then I ask the person in charge of the kitchen if I can deviate from the type of bread (sandwich that is there instead of a sandwich), he says no, you have to buy it from somewhere else, he does not deviate, if I say it is all made difficult, he says, yes that comes from above... not serious towards the customer at all!

Just take the offer of € 4.50 apple carton + cappuccino at the la place there is such a vanilla cream with what you can put on it, when you stand at the cash register there is some arrogant woman with a bad attitude who charges € 5.80 I indicated that I had the offer of 4.50, she says yes, you pay extra for that vanilla stuff on it, but it is not stated. I understand that this la place is in a busy location. The interior is old with broken sofas and dirty furniture. Food was good. The interior takes your fancy away. And you want to leave as soon as possible after dinner.

Had a great lunch. Staff is up for a joke. It is not cozy, but that is due to the size, no hindrance. Kids will have a great time in the children's corner. La Place used to be a cozy restaurant with reasonable prices. Now just very expensive and mediocre quality. Staff friendly. But hamburgers, for example, are expensive and you have to pay for both the fries and the mayonnaise separately.

My first bad experience at La Place! Coffee was lukewarm immediately after it came out of the coffee maker. Then asked for a new one and it was still half cold. Smoothie was very watery, had no taste. Cream cheese sandwich had a very strange taste. After reading previous reviews, apparently I'm not the only one who experiences this. All in all a very negative experience and for that price! Service could also be better. I'd say stay away from here and spend your money elsewhere!
