Artisanal pastries that will make you feel in France for a moment. Very tasty and reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly and ambiance is quite good. Try to come early if you want to make sure you find lots of choices!

Always fresh and tasty! We've tried many options, and all of them have been delicious. My personal favorite is the bostock. It's a bit pricey, but the taste makes it worth it. The coffee is good, though I find the portion sizes a little small for the price. It’s self-service, but I like the nice touch of offering tap water by the checkout. I’d personally prefer pastries over desserts. It’s quite popular, so you may need to wait in line or for a seat. Highly recommended! - - - Best bakery in the city for croissants! They’re always fresh, and I’m absolutely obsessed with this place — highly recommended. I take everyone visiting me here, and nobody has ever disliked anything. My favorite is the bostock — I love it! They only open the garden on sunny days, but the upstairs seating is also nice. Definitely a must-visit.

Unfriendly and unprofessional staff, especially the middle-aged woman with dark hair. Upon arrival, I was completely ignored, even when I politely greeted her. It took a long time before I received a response, but it was condescending. "Honey, with that attitude, you shouldn't be working in service." A disappointing experience.

Pastries are nice and there are a lot of seating places inside. Ordering can be a bit slower than usual when it‘s busy BUSY but it‘s still pretty much alright and enjoyable!

An unassuming building with surprisingly high-quality treats and plenty of room inside to enjoy them in peace. The service is very friendly. The food preparation is visible through the open kitchen. Attractively displayed treats... Cakes and pastries... it's hard to choose, so I'll have to go there more often to try more. This time I opted for the bostock, which was very tasty. Perhaps even better if it were slightly warmed up? Definitely a place to visit and to return for more.

Paris-Brest was average in taste. I ordered it to-go, but the packaging was very careless. The staff could have handled it with more attention. Order date and time: 16 November, 13:52.

Had breakfast here today with a delicious cup of coffee and the best almond croissant ever. The shop is located in a mansion and looks beautiful. The upstairs area is spacious and the benches are incredibly comfortable. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience at Petit Jean in Rotterdam I enjoyed Petit Jean in Rotterdam today, and it was delicious. The pistachio-filled croissant was truly heavenly. The pistachio cream was perfectly balanced: creamy, subtle, not too sweet, and literally melts in your mouth. The coffee was an absolute 10/10, full of flavor, well-brewed, and just right. I also want to give a huge compliment to the staff. What warm and friendly people work there. Especially the lady with the beautiful gray curls, such a sweet, warm woman who immediately makes you feel welcome. In short: highly recommended. I'll definitely be back!

A friendly, pleasant place. But since they moved, shrinkflation has hit hard. The croissants have become shamelessly small, and lately, they often seem to be baked a bit too dry. The pastries and other sweets are still very tasty, even a bit smaller for the same price, but oh well. But don't expect service if you eat or drink there. Good staff is hard to find, but nothing a small course can't fix. You sit down at 11:00, and half of them are served, and you hear "sorry, it's gone." So I ordered the croissant with aged cheese and arugula (which is very good there). "Sorry, it's gone." But, wait a minute, you still have enough croissants. So you cut it open and put the toppings on it? No, that wasn't possible. Then you reluctantly order something else (we waited ages, and everyone at the table got their coffee at a different time). Then you go to pay and there are fresh croissants with cheese 😂 Just say, "If you wait a minute, we'll have them again." Oh, and make sure your staff knows at least a few words of Dutch. You won't get away with that broken English in France or Germany.

A fantastic local cafe and pastry shop. They also have several types of sandwiches, brilliant, warm with butter, ham, and mustard, a real treat. The pistachio-flavored croissants are AMAZING, plus delicious coffee, and you're in for a happy day. Don't be fooled by the small entrance with a window in the gray facade of the building, which offers plenty of space inside.

42 minutes... That's the time we had to wait for our order to be taken. And the food is definitely not worth the waiting time: fat is compensating the average. Nice location though. Tourist trap. To avoid

Omg, absolutely magnificent! After desiring to visit this gorgeous cafe for so long, today I had the auspicious opportunity to do so, and it was without a doubt supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! Their variety of gǎteaux — from croissants to an Opera cake. Everything was perfect, even their interior made me feel like I was back in Paris with the bourgeoise. I myself ordered a flan parisian, croissant and an almond croissant. The croissant was incredibly buttery, flaky and it was such an artisanal craft of art: on the inside, I could see the tedious process of concocting such croissants through the mesmerising layers. Their flan parisian was very custardy, sweet and soft to the texture with a hint of authentic vanilla, just the way it should be. Last but not least, their almond croissant, it was also buttery, flaky and crispy with the almond frangipane. The only small criticism was that it was on the sweeter side, but still delectable. Oh and I also ordered an iced matcha latte and a pumpkin spice latte, the matcha was quite delicious and not too sweet. The pumpkin spice latte was very warm, sweet and had this pumpkin spice that was so befitting for autumn. Overall, I’d definitely recommend going here if you’re in Rotterdam sometime!

Price compared to quality is very good, nice setting place and service as well.

Always slow service. We have to wait for ordering or even paying for at least 35 minutes. They often also mix the tables and orders. Because we need to wait for at least 20 minutes they often out ot products till then. They either serve only coffee or pastry and we need to wait for others for 20 minutes.

Visited this cafe two days in a row! It was that good! I had the flat white, pain au chocolat, almond croissant and the pork belly roll. I have had my fair share of croissants and I have to admit, this was one of the best!

I stopped by this morning for a coffee to go and a delicious spandauer, which had lured me to Le Petitjean via Instagram. The staff is super friendly, and unlike many other places, they actually know how to make a perfect cappuccino with oat milk. They were also thrilled to see my dog. In short: Le Petitjean will definitely be a regular feature on our morning walk from now on! ☕🐶

I didn’t sit in the cafe part only had takeaway. Their pastries are simply very delicious flan, croissants, cardamom buns are so good.

The food was great. We got the cannellé and almond croissant, and they were yummy. The service was a bit off, though. One of the female staff seemed a bit rude. We were actually one of the first ones there, but she served other people first. When I tried to greet her, she gave me a weird look. I'd have been fine if she'd just said, "I'll be right with you." Overall, the pastries were delicious, just the service needed a bit of work.

Everything is delicious, and you can enjoy it in a lovely spot in the beautiful, plant-filled garden. The staff is also very friendly!

Second Saturday in a row of snarky remarks. Their success is beyond their control, but never, ever let that go to your customers. It's a shame. The excuse is that there's a line, and there was. I was certainly aware of that, but a 7-year-old doesn't get it. Still, no reason to be unkind.

You're spoiled for choice with the beautiful pastries and desserts, and they're delicious too. The table service is very quick and accurate. There's a lovely room with many tables on the first floor.

Friendly, Delicious Bakes, Ok Coffee, straight forward design. Spacious Calm oasis garden terrace in the back. Go and enjoy.

You'll want to go here! I can't think of any better croissants in Rotterdam city center. The other pastries are also delicious. The service is fast and excellent, so it's the place to go for breakfast, and definitely worth hopping on your bike!

Unfortunately, taste isn't everything in a restaurant. Contrary to popular belief, I found the atmosphere not at all peaceful, but rather sloppy. The presentation of the coffee and pastries wasn't attractive either. Moreover, the lady who persistently didn't bring us a menu, despite seeing us, was very unsympathetic. That really irritated us. We don't plan on going back, and my husband and I opted for other options.

This place is popular and for good reason. I really enjoy taking some time to myself to walk to the bakery and have a pastry and a cappuccino in the secret garden. The servers are professional and friendly. Prices are reasonable. Highly recommend bringing a friend here for breakfast if they visit you in Rotterdam!

A great discovery! It's impossible to miss the almond croissant: crispy puff pastry, golden just right, and a generous almond cream that melts in your mouth. The contrast between the crunchiness of the pastry and the softness of the filling makes it downright addictive.

Love the vibe and everything about the location Unfortunately just walked in at exactly midday and I was told lunch ended just at 12. So I will have to come back but would be advisable to reassess or at least mention the times on here. (Or outside the shop)

Great croissants and other treats!

All the croissants taste great, especially plain croissant Fairly priced Seating is good but it can get a little too crowded

The food is truly excellent. Nothing to complain about. This was my favorite place in Rotterdam for weekend lunch or breakfast. But they're too busy. There's no sign-up sheet or line if you wait outside for a table. As a result, tables are randomly assigned to small groups of people. Once you're seated, the service is far too busy. Half the croissants and specials are often gone. The coffee arrives 30 minutes after you get your food. Check your receipt carefully; we've often experienced people mischarging us here.

It's wonderful to have found a real French croissant. Large, fluffy, and flaky. A light cheesy flavor, as if it had been lying next to the cheese croissants or baked with them.

Top-quality pastries, but unfortunately, you get the French attitude thrown in for free. 😬

Review update: We are regulars consumers. Their quality remains the same, however their service has come down significantly. For instance, servers don’t even bring you a glass of tap water when your order a coffee if you don’t ask for it. Often times cutlery is not clean. And the service flow (experience) is not there anymore considering that these are not cheap pastries. We hope this review make them improve their love for their customers. Past review: Top quality! We compared with the top ten bakeries in Rotterdam. Among them were Aap noot brood and Bak. Their almond croissants were outstanding. Le Petitjean delivered the best balance in flavour and texture. We went there for a second try. We ordered the “opera” cake, and it did not disappoint us. Would recommend it to anyone looking for quality pastries.

Definitely the place to go if you are searching the flakiest pastries in Rotterdam. Le Petitjean offers an amazing selection of pastries as well as sweets and savory hapjes. It has quickly become our favorite café to relax and read a book at their sunny terrasje during the warmer months and for the colder days their interior is gorgeous!! I cannot recommend this place enough and definitely try their Bostok, absolutely divine ;)

The modest canelé is a triumph. A true French pastry. The photos here are a bit old (two locations ago, still in the North).

This is a fantastic place for a sweet breakfast with croissants in the morning. The garden at the back is very peaceful and surrounded by greenery. The products are delicious, and the staff are very friendly. I liked it very much.

We are trying out all the bakeries we see and we decided to stop here the other day. Le Petitjean is a very cute spot where to gran delicious croissant. They have a selection or different options and we decided to try the pistacchio croissant, the cheese one, the basic one and cinnabon. Everything was very tasty and the enviroment was very good. There were tables both inside and outside in the cute little garden they have. The stuff was very nice and professional! We are gonna come back!

We stopped on the corner for coffee and seen a few people walking past with Le petit Jean bags and we walked along to have a look. We bought a few croissants and ate them this morning for breakfast. They were amazing, very light, crispy and extremely messy to eat. Certainly one of the best croissants Iv ever eaten. Iv eaten a lot and most aren't worth reviewing. Amazing and so fresh! Went here yesterday for the first time. Great place with massive and delicious croissants, very cozy atmosphere. Only one of the waiter boys had horrible and dirty nails, which is very unpleasant to see when you’re being served food. Otherwise good pastry and drinks, highly recommend 👍🏼

Real bakery-quality sweet and savory rolls :) As of today, they also have lunch rolls (baguettes), but that selection isn't as extensive or special yet. I'd definitely go for the exceptionally delicious sweet or savory rolls. You can also sit outside in the courtyard.

The upstairs and indoor dining areas are very comfortable, and the staff are all very friendly. Watching the chefs make desserts and bread is especially relaxing. With all kinds of pastries displayed in front of me, I couldn't resist trying them all. Today I ordered croissants, obella, and egg tarts, all of which were delicious, sweet but not cloying, and perfectly paired with coffee. What surprised me most was the small canelés placed next to the coffee. Because they were warm from being in contact with the coffee, the crusts were crispy, fragrant, and sweet—so delicious! I will come here every day in Rotterdam!

Great spot for croissant lovers! The pistachio croissant was incredible. The matcha latte was also delicious. Service was a bit slow and the croissants came much earlier than the coffee, but staff explained there were issues with the order system. Still, a lovely place worth visiting for a tasty weekend treat.

Visited in the early hours of a Sunday. The staff was welcoming. They had quite a variety of items to choose from. We had a Crossaint and a Cardamom Bun. I am in love with the Cardamom Bun. Loved the coffee as well. It's definitely worth a visit while in Rotterdam.

Well, what can you say about this? Could croissants be any better? I don't think so... Don't underestimate the other delicacies either. Simple setup, no nonsense (I'm a big fan of that). A hidden gem in Rotterdam. Le Petitjean, known for their French pastries they make fresh in their open kitchen. It is really visible that they focus on quality over quantity. The ones we tried were not too sweet but rather very light and pleasant. I will definitely come back again to try more of their pastries.

Very nice ambiance. No standard cakes and flavors, but refined original pastries. Music is always fun and the atmosphere is very relaxed. I haven't finished eating it yet.

Good coffee and super delicious pastries. The staff is friendly, and there are a lot of places to have a seat inside as well as outside on the terrace in the backyard. This is one of the best places to go for some super delicious pastries. Definitely keep this one in mind if you're ever in the neighbourhood.

Hidden gem: the garden of le Petitjean! Great addition to Rotterdam West (And Rotterdam and the rest of the world). Near the Museum Park and within walking distance of the city center. The latte macchiato and croissants are really of top quality.

The pain au chocolate was to die for. Was crispy and buttery. The golden latte needs some work but still good. I also had the cinnamon bun and the icing had a great citrus note to it, unexpected and delightful.

What chaos here, 10 minutes after taking a seat, no staff at the table. 30 minutes later no drinks let alone the pastries. You can then stand in line to pay

I went here because my favorite croissanterie "Krozant" is closing soon. The price is the same (€3), but the croissants are at least half the size. I think it's even smaller than a supermarket croissant.

Been here twice. On a Wednesday afternoon and Saturday morning. If you go in the morning, you will have plenty of choice. If you go in the afternoon, your choices will be limited (and, if you eat in, you might have to queue for a table). Tip - They have a wider variety of cakes on the weekend. Ordered the Opera, Flan, Paris Brest, Pistachio Croissant and Almond Croissant. The Opera was very good. My friend enjoyed the Flan. I enjoyed the Paris Brest, but the choux pastry did not taste fresh. It tasted like it was a day old. The Croissant was flaky. The Pistachio (filling) was delicious. The Almond (filling) was also delicious. Of the two croissants, the Almond Croissant was tastier than the Pistachio Croissant.

I ordered a coffee and a cinnamon bun from the waitress. After 20 minutes she came to my table to ask if I had received my coffee and bun!! I was still waiting for it to arrive. She did not apologise for the delay. She then slowly left and went to order my coffee and bun for me downstairs: another wait for at least 10 minutes!! My coffee arrived with a very small spoon in the glass: I had to dip my fingers into my coffee to reach my spoon! I then tasted the cinnamon bun. It was disgusting: a bitter yellow cream cheese frosting on the bun ruined everything. I told the waitress and she apologised profusely and said that the frosting should not taste bitter and that she would mention this problem to the kitchen. I drank my coffee and left very disappointed. This ruined my Sunday morning coffee. Never returning again and will not recommend this spot to any friends.

Yikes! 22 goeloe for two croissants and two flat whites? Coffee was…okay, pastries are better tasting and value at Harvest, Jan Bussing. I think I’ll pass.
