I thought it was absolutely fantastic. A flavor explosion and finally something new. My first time eating Mexican food and I'd love to come back.

I've eaten there often and it was always top-notch. I went on a Sunday. I ordered a plato mixto; there was a piece of meat that was very dry with a large bone that I couldn't get through with my knife. The second piece of meat was a steak full of sinew, and again, I couldn't get through that steak with my knife either. It didn't look appetizing either. I reported it and it was resolved well; I received a different dish. This was also different from what was on the menu. Enchiladas: rolled corn tortillas; no tortilla to be seen, just baked with cheese on top. Enchilada sauce... didn't see any. We wondered if there was a different chef. The service was nice and friendly. We didn't feel like saying again that the dish was different from what was on the menu. I was hesitating whether or not to write a review, but I'm doing it anyway; perhaps it helps to look more closely at the product when it is served so that others aren't disappointed.

It was really great! The atmosphere is cozy and my friends and I have always wanted to eat here. The food was also very good. We really enjoyed our time here!

The food was really tasty... More than enough choice. There is also plenty of choice for vegetarians. The staff was friendly and quick. Prices are perfectly fine. The terrace is a pleasant place to sit. Highly recommended!

I visited Los Ponchos expecting an authentic Mexican dining experience, but it quickly became clear that authenticity wasn't high on the list of priorities. While the restaurant has a lively atmosphere and the staff were polite, neither can disguise the fact that the food is remarkably uninspired. The biggest issue was the complete lack of flavour and the poor execution of otherwise simple dishes. Several items were under-seasoned, and the enchiladas were bland enough to make you wonder whether anyone in the kitchen had actually tasted them before serving. The guacamole, despite appearing fresh, was equally forgettable, lacking the seasoning, acidity, and freshness that should make it one of the easiest dishes to get right. The empanadas were perhaps the most disappointing part of the meal. They tasted exactly like frozen supermarket products that had simply been reheated, with barely any filling inside. Rather than being crisp and generously stuffed, they were mostly empty pastry, making them feel like an exercise in cost-cutting rather than something a restaurant should be proud to serve. The meat didn't fare much better. It was dry from being slightly overcooked and lacked any real seasoning. At these prices, you'd expect at least some attention to quality and consistency, but instead the dishes felt assembled with minimal care. The portions were acceptable, but quantity means very little when the food itself is so underwhelming. The baked potato was almost comical. It arrived still wrapped in tinfoil, as though it had come straight from a school cafeteria, and was buried beneath an excessive amount of mayonnaise. Rather than complementing the potato, the mayonnaise completely overwhelmed it, turning what should have been a simple side dish into an unnecessarily heavy, greasy mess. It's difficult to understand how such a basic accompaniment could be so poorly presented. The service was friendly and attentive, and the staff deserve credit for that. Unfortunately, good service can only do so much when the kitchen delivers food that feels bland, unimaginative, and, in some cases, barely above convenience-food quality. If you're simply looking for a colourful setting and don't mind paying restaurant prices for average Tex-Mex, you may enjoy it. If you're expecting fresh, flavourful Mexican food prepared with care, you're likely to leave wondering how this restaurant has managed to build its reputation. I certainly won't be returning.

The welcome was friendly and the service quick. The food (steak) was delicious. The meat was cooked just right, accompanied by a delicious baked potato, fresh salad, and fries. Nicely presented. Good atmosphere and decor. Very reasonable prices. Highly recommended.

Food is totally inauthentic mexican - DO NOT order any seafood (the burrito was horrendous). Chicken burrito was edible - chicken tacos were ok but tortillas were crumbling. Cold Desperados beer was nice. To be honest 4.1 rating is incredibly generous.

I recently visited Los Ponchos to celebrate my son’s birthday, and it turned into a really enjoyable experience. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable the moment you walk in. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely focused on making sure we had a good time. I ordered a steak that unfortunately wasn’t to my liking, but the way they handled it truly impressed me. They immediately offered to replace it with another dish and apologized sincerely. That level of customer care says a lot about their values — it’s clear that guest satisfaction is a top priority here. The rest of our meal was lovely, and the positive attitude of the team made the birthday celebration feel even more special. I appreciate restaurants that stand behind their service, and Los Ponchos definitely does. I’d happily come back again.

The food was very disappointing. We ordered a veggie taco with vegetables. It turned out to be a (limp) taco with bell peppers and zucchini without any Mexican spices. Therefore, it didn't taste Mexican at all. The guacamole also didn't meet our expectations at all. Not recommended, despite the friendly service. We will never return.

We always wanted to try it out since we love Mexican food. When we ordered they gave us a bowl of chips and salsa. That was amazing! We ordered the burrito and the food was ok, but not amazing. However the baked potato was the best pick on the menu! The staff on the day was a little unfriendly. The experience was not what we thought and sadly it was a better thought then reality.

That was so delicious! We had a wonderful meal at Los Ponchos with our kids. The staff are all very friendly and hospitable. You feel more than welcome. Side dishes are included, including the deliciously seasoned fries and super fresh salads with a tasty dressing. All in all, if we're ever in Enschede again, we'll definitely be back.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic food and a great atmosphere! We went to Los Ponchos in Enschede and had a wonderful evening. I had the mixed platter, and my husband had the spare ribs; both dishes were absolutely outstanding. The spare ribs were incredibly tender and delicious, and my dish was perfectly seasoned and very fresh. The atmosphere is cozy, and the service is friendly and attentive. We felt completely at ease and will definitely be back. Highly recommended!

We ordered several appetizers (entradas). Every single one was frozen food that had simply been baked. The "garlic bread" was an Aldi frozen baguette, which costs 89 cents in the supermarket, but cost about €7 at the restaurant. The mozzarella sticks were also the cheap frozen sticks you can find at Lidl and Aldi. There was clearly no homemade food involved.

When asked, there was no clear explanation. And of course, they took tips!!! Overall, a disappointing experience – neither the service nor the food were convincing. I probably won't be coming back.

I really can't report anything negative; we were a group of 11 people eating here, and no one had any complaints. Sure, things could be a bit cheaper, but it is what it is. I would definitely come back. 👍🏼

Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing: the spareribs were pale and tasteless, and the fish stew was very tough. The rib-eye steak was disappointing. However, the staff was exceptionally welcoming and friendly, which made for a very pleasant atmosphere. You don't come here for the quality of the food, but you definitely do for the atmosphere and warm service. We were able to go on a Saturday without a reservation.

I don't know why so many people are complaining here... We were asked in English if we were from Germany. We were then given a German menu. Prices and portions were more than fair. Good quality meat. Short waiting times and a relaxed atmosphere in what is usually a rather hectic city.

It was busy on Valentine's Day, as expected, and when we arrived with other couples, we had to wait a bit at the bar. No problem. The waitress seemed very stressed, barking at her colleagues right in front of us. The staff only does what's necessary, and the service is lacking. The food: our tacos were limp, the salad consisted of a slice of pineapple and red cabbage with both cores still in, tomato, and jalapenos. Little flavor. It resembles a glorified junk food shack with a Mexican twist. We definitely won't be returning!

When you dine at a restaurant, you expect a culinary experience. What we got was more of a test of our jaw muscles. The tenderloin, ordered "medium," turned out to be so tough we nearly had to make a dentist appointment. My friend had the same problem – her knife had more trouble with that steak than an average lumberjack with a log. Another friend opted for the rack of lamb. Unfortunately, it looked like it had landed on our plates straight out of a nature documentary, as it was still half-raw. Perhaps they wanted to offer us an authentic "farm experience"? The staff seemed completely unfazed by our complaints and apparently thought it was a brilliant idea to offer absolutely nothing to make up for it. No apologies, no compensation, nothing to wash away the taste of disappointment. Conclusion: if you dine here, bring a pocket knife, a good dose of patience, and don't forget your cooking lessons – just in case you have to finish your own food.

We didn't think it was anything special. Besides, my friend and I both got food poisoning (I had the chicken burrito, and my friend ate some of that too). All in all, not something we'd do again.

A unique "Mexican" experience... I've eaten a lot of Mexican food, but this was unusual. Some things were just plain strange. First of all, the menu doesn't show what you get. It says you get sour cream with your burrito or chimichanga, but it turns out to be a baked potato in sour cream with lots of garlic. Imagine not having anything to do with potatoes and garlic and thinking you're ordering plain sour cream... Also, they apparently always put a sweet and sour sauce on their dishes here that I don't recognize from Mexican cuisine. My wife likes to eat little sugar, so she ordered a burrito, which doesn't have this sauce listed on the menu. But it was there! When I asked, I was told we should have just said we didn't want any sauce... But HOW were we supposed to know? There was NO SAUCE on the menu! What a strange answer! And then they also said they really can't list everything on the menu. Why not? My tip for restaurants: Create a clear menu that simply states what's on offer! Or at least give people a clear choice: with or without sauce, potatoes, garlic cream, etc. My tip for customers: Want real Mexican food? There are much better options!

The place looked very inviting at first, but we were quickly proven wrong. Server number one showed us to a table, then server number two came and told us we couldn't sit there because it was reserved. This also applied to the neighboring tables... we actually wanted to leave right then and there, but unfortunately we didn't. I drank the worst strawberry margarita of my life there. It was simply embarrassing and had nothing to do with a cocktail. The food was also very disappointing and overpriced. The place really has nothing to do with an authentic Mexican restaurant.

Poor service and pathetic food - this one line summarizes what this restaurant has to offer. It was my son's birthday and it got ruined because we went to Los Ponchos, for dinner. After taking the order, they made us wait for 40 mins. I kept asking during this time, how long the wait would be. My parking was in a limited zone of 90 mins and I told them that, but all I got was false assurances. After 40 mins, the order they brought was half wrong. We sent back 2 out of 4 dishes and then had to wait for another 15 minutes. We hoped the food, when eventually it would come, shall be worth the wait but it clearly wasn't. It was God awful....by far the worst Mexican food I ever had, if at all even I can call it Mexican. The nachos were stale, pulled chicken used in the Enchiladas and Quesadillas was stringy and distasteful; excessive cheese and sauces they used made it worse rather than camouflage it. The preparation really sucked and I wondered if they understand even the meaning of Mexican cuisine!! The one good thing in the meal was the Guacamole, but of course it's quantity was not enough to compensate the distaste of the entire dish. My son said it would have been better if he went to bed hungry, on his birthday. Clearly you need to AVOID this restaurant!

Normally we come to Enschede once a year and then go to the neighbors (Greek) of this restaurant. However, they were still on holiday. But we had a great meal with the Mexican neighbors. Service was smooth and tidy, the menu offers more than enough choice and the food was simply delicious. Restaurant for next year...we still have a whole year to think about it.

Interesting restaurant with a cheerful interior. There is a summer veranda. Friendly and helpful staff. "Wild West" beer - Corona. The food is European Mexican, not spicy, but there is always something spicier to be made. The seating at the tables is quite tight, but it's ok for conversation. Prices are average for the city. I recommend it.

Been coming here for years! The map has only gotten better. The steak is delicious, the spare ribs tender, the fajitas delicious. And the nachos suprimos is always a good starter. Nice and cozy decor and friendly and helpful staff. Until next time!

It’s authentic enough for me to scratch the itch of taste that I miss. However I just wish some of the items had more spice in it. Taco Pequeno was great though.

The food was decent. A bit tough chicken with the fajitas and not very tasty. They try to compensate for that with spicy sauces and an enormous amount of food on your plate that you really can't finish. But the worst thing was that while people were eating, they started cleaning the toilets and/or kitchen with bleach. It turned out that smoke entered the restaurant, which is really disgusting when you are eating. I'll never go here again.

We hebben heerlijk gegeten en de porties waren groot. Bediening super vriendelijk. We hadden nachos, Enchilada met maks rundvlees en een burrito met gehakt en portie spareribs. Overal een gepofte aardappel bij met room. Bij de spareribs nog patat en een salade. Volle borden met lekker eten. Wij komen zeker nog een keer weer eten met het gezin.

The food was really bad and inedible. We were there with 3 people and each ordered a meat dish for just under €30 per dish. It came with a small bowl of fries and a small bowl of poor salad. Normally each of us should have had a bowl of salad and fries. We then asked for another bowl of fries and got that straight away, but this was rudely added to the bill. The meat was tough and had no taste. We should have bought meat and thrown it on the barbecue at home, that would have been tastier and cheaper. In the end the “meal” cost us 99 euros. Never again!

It was delicious food again, with a nice cup of coffee. Also good and pleasant service. Despite some rain, it was nice to relax on the terrace, under a parasol with a heater.

We sat there for 25 minutes, didn't get a card or anything, we could only order two cokes.

Calamaris were good, not tough as you sometimes get elsewhere. The salmon was good too. Just cooked until it is still nice and soft, but no longer completely pink on the inside and not dry either. so very good as it should be. The salad was fine, the fries had a bit too much seasoning. It came with a hearty baked potato, also good.

Ich muss leider sagen dass es bisher das mit schlechteste Steak war, welches ich je gegessen habe. Schon kalt angekommen, mehr fett als Fleisch und sehr viele Sehnen. Die Kartoffel war kalt und ohne Geschmack. Leider alles eine große Enttäuschung.

The place seemed to have a Mexican soul, so I decided to check out the taste of the food. 3 meals ordered. - Chimichanga with beef - Enchilada with beef - Burrito with beef I also chose a strawberry margarita. I'll start with the Margarita. I've never drank worse in my life. Very chemical aftertaste, it doesn't resemble strawberries at all. I definitely advise against it. The burrito tasted like spaghetti only in a tortilla. Edible, but not the burrito flavor I wanted. As for the Chimichanga and Enchilada, it was also edible, but it lacked something to impress. The only thing I cannot fault and would like to praise is the guacamole. It was really very tasty. The service can definitely learn a lot.
