The employee behind the counter was very friendly, and the ambiance of the snack bar is generally appealing. Unfortunately, this positive impression was marred by a noticeable film of grease on the tables and furniture. It might be advisable to check the ventilation or filter system, as grease appears to be settling in the dining area. The fries also disappointed us. The potatoes tasted somewhat stale, and the fries were very greasy, as they apparently hadn't been drained properly. Furthermore, towards the end of the evening, chairs were already being cleared away, even though there were still guests in the restaurant. This unfortunately gave us—especially my husband—the impression that they wanted to end the evening as quickly as possible.

Very disappointing experience. These were without a doubt the worst fries I have ever eaten. The fries were clearly burnt and consequently had a bitter, unpleasant taste. Even the sauce tasted like it was burnt. I had expected much better quality. Unfortunately, the food was far below par. I will not be coming back here and cannot recommend this place.

I was visiting Amsterdam from Barcelona when I came across this place and tried their falafel. It was the best I've ever had!

It was absolutely a discovery! It wasn't on my list of places to visit, I stumbled across it and my hunger got the better of me! I was thrilled; it's definitely a hidden gem.

Such a hidden gem!! Honestly one of the best surprises I've had in a while. I stopped by while walking back into town and decided to try the gyro with fries — both were absolutely delicious. The meat was well-seasoned and packed with flavor, and the fries were crispy and fresh. What really stood out was the price: incredibly reasonable for the quality you get. The atmosphere has a warm, personal touch — I'm fairly sure the owner himself was behind the counter, and that hands-on presence makes the whole experience feel more genuine and welcoming. If you're in the area, don't walk past this one. It's an easy stop that's absolutely worth it. Highly recommended!

On my trip to Amsterdam I discovered the best fries!!! The service was excellent, and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Not great. Fries were bitter, peanut sauce had a burnt aftertaste, and the frikandel was soggy with oil.

I ate this recently and it was like I was given chicken that had been sitting there for days without a lid. It tasted super hard and old.

Ridiculous speed, 20 minutes for a cheese soufflé and a frikandel (it wasn't busy??? Clearly inefficient in the kitchen and the service was mediocre on top of that. Just substandard for a snack bar.)

As French tourists visiting Amsterdam, we were looking for a good chip shop near the Olympic Hotel… and we found a gem! Don't let the rather unassuming storefront fool you: the quality is truly exceptional. We tried a gyro pita and a falafel pita—a bit like a kebab, but much more refined—and everything was absolutely delicious. Honestly, a fantastic surprise for €20 for two. You can go there without hesitation!

Was there a couple of days ago. After arriving in Amsterdam after a long flight + train ride. Ordered the Gyro Kapsalom. First of all big portion no way you are not getting full. Taste was amazign vegetables were seasoned and had a great taste. There was some dry seasoning on onions - absolute banger! Meat was perfect fries were top notch and it was all on a giant pita(I think?) that soaked up all of the delicousness and allowed you to pick it up and finish. Will remember that place for a long. Good luck to the owner I wish him many years of good business, he deserves it for putting his heart into the food.

I dont know how this place doesn't have 10* this is the first st gyro I've ever had in my life! This is worth getting out of your way and driving an hour to come here. I almost cried while eating this! And also for less than 10€! How is this even possible!!!

I suddenly got hungry and drove past this place. The navigation system indicated it was an excellent place, based on the Google reviews. They have a wide variety of snacks, including vegetarian snacks. However, the woman behind the counter (a nice woman who spoke English) didn't understand me when I asked if they fried these vegetarian snacks separately from the meat snacks. I ordered fries with truffle mayonnaise and homemade satay sauce. I had to wait a bit, but then I got a decent portion with plenty of sauce. The satay sauce had a nice sweet-spicy aftertaste after each bite. The truffle mayonnaise was creamy. I think the fries were made from robust potatoes. Lots of hard bits that were also soft in the middle. I didn't like that. Fries should be crispy and full of flavor across the entire width. They were salted, even though I asked for them not to be salted. The place itself is a bit of a hipster joint that also plays hipster music. Otherwise, it's clean and well-maintained. And the service is also friendly. It's a place I won't be returning to anytime soon, due to the quality of the fries. Maybe I'll give it another try later. It's inexpensive, though.

Unfortunately only 2 out of 6 items arrived. The kapsalon whilst tasty was cold and half of it have fallen out of the box already. The frikandel speciaal had about 5 bits of onion and a very small amount of sauce on it. Would love to have tried the rest of the food but it seems it was lost somewhere.

Very delicious! We had two Mokum Gyros and a Mokum Falafel. All the ingredients were freshly prepared and deliciously seasoned. It was pouring with rain, but we enjoyed it at our table outside under the vaulted roof.

My first time trying Snackbar Mokum, friends brought me to the snackbar and i was pleasantly surpriced!, all the dishes are the classics you know but always with a little twist so you gonna be surprised for sure! the food was so tasty!

You can tell the food here is made with love. The gyros actually slap, they're so good you have to keep coming back. The fries with the little mayo holder is top, and I loved the croquettes. If you're looking for good atmosphere, better people - then this is the place.

In summary: - Amazing food (get the kapsalon) - Great service (the owner is sooo friendly) - Perfect atmosphere (board games, and cozy atmosphere) I walked in on the recommendation of the hotel I was staying at. I didn’t know what to expect, but I’m so glad I did. I got the gyro kapsalon, and it was divine. It’s served in a flaky, delicious pita, with perfectly crispy fries, juicy and flavorful gyro, lots of fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and onions cut perfectly, and topped with really flavorful tzatziki and spices. The owner is very friendly and made me feel right at home. I had to go back a couple of days later for the falafel kapsalon, and it was just as amazing. The falafel is perfectly crispy on the outside, and herby and juicy on the inside. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

I happened upon this snackbar on my vacation and it is very good! Reasonable prices. The owner gave me falafels to try and I had never tasted one SO GOOD! I recommend it 100% and they also had games and tarots to pass the time. The other thing, the vibe inside is unexpected, looks more like a cafe than a snackbar!

If it's good, then it's just good. By far one of the best places to eat in Oud-West! You can get delicious Döner Kebab, Kapsalon or Gyros here! And not that greasy half-cooked stuff, but here they know how to transform it into a real delicacy instead of a greasy bite. The food is always delicious, but the service is even better! Always a nice conversation and always friendly help. I highly recommend this place, especially if you pick it up to sit in the Vondelpark! This one can definitely stay!!
