Little choice of snacks and the curry is nasty

A culinary nightmare house where everything goes wrong My visit to Goudgeel Messagie was, from start to finish, an experience I'd rather forget. It began upon entering. As soon as you crossed the threshold, you were greeted by an atmosphere more reminiscent of a forgotten warehouse than a place you'd ever expect to find delicious food. The interior was dark, dusty, and betrayed a lack of care and attention to hygiene. The floors were covered in sticky residue from previous customers, and the tables showed clear signs of constant use, as if they'd never been cleaned. Service and customer service: a true disaster The service was absolutely appalling. The staff seemed completely out of place and exuded a nonchalant attitude. Ordering was effortless; there were hardly any smiles or friendly nods. Instead, there was only a detached look and a feeling that your presence was a personal nuisance to them. The wait times were exorbitant, and once it was your turn, it felt like your order was being prepared with the slowness of a slow-moving railway machine. Once served, there was no genuine interest or willingness to check whether you were satisfied with the quality of the food. The dishes: tasteless and worthless The culinary highlight—or rather, the low point—of this snack bar came in the form of the food itself. The fries were mushy and lukewarm, as if they had been left in a grease bath for hours without any kind of renewal. Every bite felt like a mixture of old, salty, and spoiled ingredients with a faint aftertaste of everydayness. The snacks were disappointing in every respect: too greasy, too bland, and lacking any distinctive flavor profile. Even the curry, which should normally be an explosion of flavors, had been reduced to a bland, watery substance that yearned for a bit of spice or originality. It was clear that the kitchen wasn't striving for any kind of culinary excellence; It seemed more like an attempt to quickly deliver mediocre, rushed dishes to customers. The so-called management: Gijs Messagie and his unrealistic approach But what made this whole experience truly unbearable was the presence of Gijs Messagie. Gijs seems completely oblivious to what good service and quality assurance entail. Instead of acting as an exemplary leader, he is the embodiment of incompetence. His approach is anything but inspiring. I was confronted with his arrogance and a complete lack of initiative to put things right. Where one expects an inspiring leader who shows personal commitment, I found a man who clearly didn't know what he was doing and understood nothing about gastronomic craftsmanship. It's a mystery how someone with such shortcomings was even allowed to take over. His influence is palpable in every misstep committed on the snack bar floor and every disappointment that inevitably befalls customers. A general lack of vision and care and a thoughtless approach from Gijs Messagie and his team.

The food was delicious, only the sauces were a bit less.

Lots of fries. Half are reddish-brown leftover fries, the other half are dry and tasteless. No potato flavor at all. Message fries from prehistoric times were firm, tasty fries.

The pros of this place: - Good, tasty peanut sauce - Flexibility (kids could exchange cans) - Delicious fries - Friendly staff Cons: - Small (you usually can't sit inside) - Fairly small portions of fries. In short: come here if you appreciate good peanut sauce and/or don't necessarily eat at a table inside.

My wife went to order chips and the young employee named Frank slipped his phone number in the bag. No rights were given for that to him. Maybe some professional and respectful attitude should be taught in this place. Completely disgusting behaviour.

What a worthless place that has become... hopeless figures behind the counter who throw the wrapped food in the bag and forget half of it... bad fries and dried out stew... it used to be so good, I haven't been there for a long time but they don't see me anymore... wasted money.

Very expensive and only half a cup of fries, a small coke... 3 euros. Can't believe those prices!!!!!

What a bad thing that has become! Not friendly, bad fries and everything fried so hard that after eating a frikandel you could go straight for dentures.

I have the feeling that this chip shop is more concerned with making money than with its customers. The service and their products suck. Not much seating and a customer seems like a number. Snacks are fried almost hard to burnt. Fries really suck. Luckily I didn't get much in my bowl because it tasted like fries. It looked like it had been rebaked 10 times. Definitely not fresh. Half were hard to brown and lots of crusts Like many residents of Hulst, I will never return here Currently the worst chip shop in the region. I'm amazed that customers still come here. To end on a positive note. It is located in the best and coziest place in Hulst.

Very stingy portion of bad fries and way too expensive. Also charged more than was on the price list. You'll never see me here again!

Today I spent a day in Hulst with my mother. We are both vegetarian and if you don't fancy a traditional cheese croquette, most options are off. Then just some fries. Unfortunately only ... a cheese croquette or a bami disk. So it became a bami disk, which was very tasty. The fries were ok, but covered in salt, which I normally don't take. All in all OK, but it would be nicer if the vegetarian offering was significantly expanded.

Altijd vriendelijk Gezellig Lekker eten

Goede friet let wel op dat je cash bij hebt , pinnen kan niet. Heel vriendelijk personeel voor herhaling vatbaar als ik weer in Hulst ben

Nemen alleen cash aan en dat krijg je pas te horen nadat je besteld hebt. Friet was matig tot oké. Enige positieve vond ik de hoeveelheid friet en saus die krijgt maar, voor de prijzen die ze vragen mag dat ook wel. Geen aanrader.

Even frietje stoof met frikandel speciaal 9,55 Daar kopen we in Brabant de hele friettent van leeg En er zaten 3 stukjes ui op me frikandel (Fiet zit vol olie)

Lekker gegeten alleen geen eigen terras buiten

Nog steeds de lekkerste friet in het land van hulst en omstreken

Goeie frites, vlotte bediening , helaas weinig plaats om te zitten buiten het seizoen.

Altijd goede kwaliteit en mooi zitten

Goede friet en zijn er vriendelijk. Friet was ook nog eens lekker van smaak.

Leuke locatie en prima uitsmijters

Meer sterren als je met de pin kan betalen. Vind dit zo waardeloos.. alleen cash in 2020. En vraag nou geen extra euro voor een hard broodje..

De lekkerste frieten uit de regio.

Ene keer is friet lekker van smaak, andere keer slap en vettig.. De laatste 2 keer hebben ze het bedrag, wat ik moest betalen, naar boven afgerond.. Niet bepaald een eerlijke zaak, volgende keer een andere frituur voor ons.

Veel harde frieten en korsten. Lijkt wel of die friet al 20 x is gebakken. Goede locatie maar geen aanbeveling.

Lekker gegeten prettig zitten ook als je met meer bent

Vooral doordeweeks hier geen friet halen. De friet is bruin en slap. Je ziet gewoon dat ze het meerdere malen in het vet gooien. Wel handig dat je daar een bitterballetje kan halen als je op een terras zit waar dit niet geserveerd wordt.

Lekker. Verzorgd. Mooi gelegen op het marktplein.

Frietzaak op groot plein klein zaak met weinig zit plaatsen maar je kan buiten op ijzer bankje zitten lekker verse friet en heerlijk producten maar je kan alleen contant betalen er is ook geen kassa dus alles wordt op een kladblok uit gerekend dat is heel bijzonder en een niet te controlerende boekhouding hahaha

Ik vond de frites niet zo krokant als ik zou willen. Ook vond ik het eigenaardig dat ik geen bonnetje kon krijgen van mijn bestelling. Verder wel vriendelijk personeel.
